@Lidlbitofmonica Louder food noise is a scary thought! A couple of lbs gain is hardly anything at all especially considering you were on holiday too, it'll take time to readjust. Well done on continuing the good habits, I hope we can all do the same when we stop the mounjaro. I know some people plan to stay on it forever for maintenance but for those of us who can't or don't want to, it's good to know that it is possible to keep it up after stopping.

dozywelshbird · 12/08/2025 22:43

Yes, interesting to get others take on BMI, I guess like many I can't imagine being a weight that would put me at say 23, but would I feel a failure if I stopped and was still classed as overweight (26 according to BMI)

I'm 1lb away from my first goal of 180lb, so I'm going to aim for next goal of 165lbs and assess how I feel / look when I get there....

Thanks for all your insight. 😁

dozywelshbird · 12/08/2025 22:48

Well done @bridgetreilly on the fab loss and moving into obese category 👏

Coventree · 13/08/2025 07:17

Well done for all the losses and NSVs - keep going everyone, we’ve got this!

Another 2lb lost this week 🎉, making 40lbs in total 🎉. So happy with that.

I too am aiming for 10st/140lbs (5’ 3” something) and hoping to be there by December when I turn 50 - on track at the mo 🤞 but there’s still another 34lbs to go 😮 …which is a little overwhelming at times but one day, one lb, at a time and I’ll get there.

Feeling great at the moment and had a proper overhaul of my wardrobe - got my colours done which in some way only confirmed what I already knew, but has been an impetus for change…every piece of black has been wiped from existence 😁. Vinted has been great for selling and buying so I’m only paying out for postage and buy bundles where I can to get tops and trousers for £1-2 max. It feels amazing to look at my wardrobe and know every single piece hanging up is something I can wear if I want to - no ‘oh, I want to wear that but it doesn’t fit’ dilemmas - and by consciously sticking to a colour palette, everything can blend together beautifully. I’ve started with a touch of make-up too, which is something I’ve rarely bothered with my entire life. Just mascara, bronzer on my cheeks (who realised that would tame down my constant red cheeks…not me!), bit of colour under my eyebrows (hooded eyelids so any attempt at colour on eyelids just gets covered up!), and a bit of lippy. One soft pink set of make up and one brown set, depending on what I’m wearing. I literally feel like I’m waking up after years of slumber…it’s a mid-life revolution and it’s all thanks to MJ kick starting it. Thanks for being fabulous journey mates!

wlinewbie0425 · 13/08/2025 07:28

Morning all. Weds weigh in - I thought I was going to have a gain this week as it’s time of the month and I jumped back up a couple of pounds over the week, but happily it’s come back down so overall it’s 0.4lb loss for me today at the end of week 16.

focus now needs to be protein and strength training as fell off the wagon a bit with both of those during the school hols.

Hope my fellow weds weighers have positive results/NSVs this week.

Well done @Coventree - lovely to read how positive you are beginning to feel about yourself - that’s the real victory not just numbers on the scale 😃

@coventree
What a lovely post to read.
It is a lovely feeling fitting into clothes that you want to wear.

I don't think people realise how much of a brave face overweight people put on.

My news is I have officially hit the 3 stone lost mark.
I am stunned as I had stalled but I think it was hormonal time of the month.
42lbs gone. I'd like to get another 20 lbs off but even another stone would make me happy.
Aiming to be off mj by January.

wlinewbie0425 · 13/08/2025 07:59

Well done @Merlin23what an achievement! You are completely right - it’s felt amazing this week to throw on shorts and T-shirts and feel comfortable in the heat. The last few summers have been horrid.

Well done @wlinewbie0425 and @Merlin23 👏👏👏 (and thank you both for your kind words). Yes, our new slimmer-selves are thanking us in this heat!

Another interesting development - hopefully positive for future that more people will gain access. https://www.thetimes.com/article/5043dc84-ecdf-4074-85b5-54e21d5606b0?shareToken=21c8aad54f8144db9c3511069002f11e

Wow, that is a positive step. The more ways of making this available the better. And I hope people would also get support/access to information on how to use the drug correctly - this group has been immensely supportive for me and @Merlin23 mentioned the support her prescriber also offers.

Going slightly off track, I’ve read about people using local Slimming World groups for life post-MJ (not for losing weight but for maintaining and having that weekly support). I wonder if local slimming groups will adapt to embrace those on wlis as access is opened up, or if the death knoll is growing ever louder for that model of weight loss and their branded ‘diet’ products.

Ricoletti · 13/08/2025 09:12

@Merlin23 we are twins 👯

@Coventree congrats on your going success. your post has made me smile! It’s so lovely to hear you feeling positive about your clothes and exploring exiting new things like makeup. I also discovered bronzer recently and was shook at how healthy it makes me look!

@wlinewbie0425 excellent surprise loss, and great goals for proteins and strength training- good Inspo for us all , I need to do more of this.

@bridgetreilly sorry I missed your update, well done for sliding into that new category, this is awesome and you are doing so well!

@dozywelshbird happy 12 !!!!! Well done you are smashing it!

massive massive confetti cannon for everyone here today. We are all making huge changes in our lives, and though our targets and goals differ- we are all working hard every day toward the goal of healthier minds and bodies. I’m so proud of us !

Zebracat · 13/08/2025 18:42

I get my MJ from my pharmacy. Went yesterday . The pharmacist is a lovely woman who weighs and measures me and talks through any issues. I told her that I’ve been slipping and eating junk that I don’t even want. Weight loss is slow! She gave me a proper talking to. won’t forget it in a hurry. Very much needed. I have been more careful today, but it’s so hot that I can’t be as active as usual . I’m very nearly at the under 200 pounds mark, so I will remind myself about that. This is no time for self sabotage. I’m about half way to my goal and still obese so I really can’t afford to mess up.

Love this post @Coventree.
I had my colours and shape done about three years ago (deep autumn apple). It's honestly the best thing I've ever done for myself. The analyst I used is a great advocate of feeling good how you look now, not waiting until you lose the weight and it was amazing how wearing my best colours and dressing for my shape immediately improved how I felt about myself.

Merlin23 · 13/08/2025 19:43

Looking to the future. I've just worked it out if I keep losing at the rate I am I'm hoping to have 2 more months on current dose 7.5mg then 1 month on 5mg then 2 months on 2.5.
If this works out my last injection will be Christmas day. Could be good timing. Get me through Christmas start a fresh in January.

I’ve loosely done these sort of calcs too and think we are on a similar timeline. But I know that things are slowing as I get closer to a healthy weight so nothing is set in stone. I will definitely not stop before Christmas. I am loosely thinking taper right down and possibly try stopping when I’ve done a full year. But make sure I am set up with a provider to be able to go back on if it doesn’t work. I’m not being obese ever again.

When I lost weight in the past my body fought me and would not go lower so I'm hoping mj will conquer that. I'm 5 pounds away from this battle. I was still overweight.
My body liked that weight but said no more! 🤔

StartingApril2025 · 13/08/2025 23:27

Hello everyone , so lovely to catch up with everyone’s progress, fabulous results and everyone’s messages leave me with a smile thinking what we have all achieved!
A weird month for me, first month at 5mg and my lowest weight loss .. only 4lbs in the month! Can’t really understand why, my calories have been fine, low some days other says nearer my tdee but weekly never over, portions definitely bigger than they were and trying to ensure I get enough protein and water. Hey Ho, maybe I should have stayed on the lower dose or it’s just settling down to a slower rate now- I still have 1. 5 stone to go at least but finally in the overweight category. Clothes much looser so need to take some inspo from @Coventree and get on vinted!
had two bad weeks on 5mg the burps and one episode of terrible runs but hoping that settles down too. Onto another month and staying at 5mg and see what this next month brings!

Seahawk80 · 14/08/2025 08:43

Morning everyone. It’s been a while! Had a quick speed read catch up. Sorry to hear about your Grandma @Ricoletti. Congratulations to everyone on losses and NSVs. I only jabbed once in the last 3 weeks as was away on an expedition cruise to Greenland and then had a week in Spain. Overall I only put on 2.5 lbs so pretty happy with that as I felt like I made good choices but didn’t go without. I’ve felt a bit bloated and think jabbing before I went to Spain was a mistake. I haven’t yet jabbed since we got back on Sunday as want to let my body get back to normal. Im off to Cornwall in 10 days (I promise I am normal - we just do both our family holidays for the year in August at the moment as we have no childcare and hardly any family help! Also Greenland was for work). I’m thinking maybe jab on Saturday and then I have a week before I go away and then wait until I’m back for the next one as I want to enjoy my holiday and not feel crappy. I’ve still felt good suppression these last few days and don’t feel like I am overeating / snacking etc. I always knew August would be a hard one for me logistics wise!

SassyLimeHelper · 14/08/2025 10:32

Hi everyone, checking in after 3 weeks away from the thread. Just got back from a 2 week all inclusive holiday, drinking beer and cocktails every day and eating 3 meals a day. I didn't take my pen with me, so haven't jabbed since 26th July - I obviously wasn't calorie counting or strictly managing portions etc, I just ate what I fancied and stopped when I was full.
In those 2 weeks of iced coffees, fizzy drinks, beers by the pool and cocktails of an evening, I've gained 2lbs. I think some of that may be travel bloat too, as we only got back yesterday. I'm amazed! Planning on taking my last 3 doses from this pen and I think I'll order one more, staying at 3.75mg. After 2 weeks without the meds, I feel much more confident that I can go it alone now, without regaining all of the weight really quickly.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but have you all seen this?

Absolutely devastating if true. I can about afford it at the current cost. I cannot afford it if it doubles in price.

Big price increases? | Mumsnet

Anyone else seen this chatter about massive price increases announced for MJ (to pharmacies) in the last hour or so? Very concerning as it looks like...

Yes it’s dreadful. Hopefully some of the bigger companies can strike bulk deals with Eli Lilly and won’t pay cost price so the final price won’t be quite as shocking as some of today’s headlines but it’s still going to be a huge blow to millions of people who have budgeted and planned around current prices and perhaps expected slight increases but not this.

hands up who’s already ordered an extra pen today despite having 2 in the fridge 🙋🏼‍♀️

Yes absolutely gutted about this, current cost is already a stretch so if the prices quoted are correct it will have to be the end of my journey.
☹️

toobusytoclean · 14/08/2025 17:42

Weird one - I’ve just had a craving for chocolate.
Im on 7.5mg and jabbed last night so really don’t understand where this came from.
There was some 4 month+ old chocolate in a cupboard so I’ve had that and am happy now.

think I just need to re establish good routines after my holiday. Also today was stressful as it’s a level results day and I was their head of year so that may have triggered old food associations.
any once else had this?

How are you managing to order extra pens if you don't mind me asking?
