Morning all... Weekly weigh-in

SW 87.65kg
CW 77.9kg
GW 65kg

So that's a gain of 0.6kg for me 🤦

I know why... I had a very boozy evening on Friday and I needed to eat ALL the carbs on Saturday to try to deal with the hangover... Oops! But it was a lovely evening so probably worth it in the grand scheme of things.

I'll just hang on to my NSV of running my 2nd fastest 10k yesterday... 💪😎

I guess there will be bumps along the road, but what matters is we keep going...

Well done! A loss is a loss.
I would love to be able to run 1km let alone 10km. I have arthritis in my foot.
So a very big well done on the running.
👏👏👏👏

Good morning all! I haven’t posted much lately.. life has been a little tricky but have loved catching up on all of these amazing success stories!

I am hoping for some advice from some of you lovely lot, I am about to take my third jab of my third 5mg and although I am consistently losing between a pound and one and a half pounds each week, it is starting to feel a lot like I am relying heavily on willpower.

The first two pens of 5mg felt almost effortless and the losses were bigger (although I do know I can’t expect a 3 pound loss every week as the weight comes off and I am honestly generally feeling very lucky about how it’s all going) but I do now feel very much ‘on a diet’ whereas before I was just living life and making better choices automatically if you see what I mean?

just wondered if anyone else has been through this…

AbundanceofKatherines · 21/07/2025 09:55

Hi @AdotHam👋 I am not in your situation so my observations are not based on experience!

I am still getting good suppression on 5mg (1st dose of 3rd 5mg pen) so don’t feel the need to move up just yet - this might change as I move through the pen.

Once I stop getting as much suppression I imagine I will move up to 7.5mg. The only reason I wouldn’t do this would be if I was very close to goal so wanted to start relying more on willpower. While I’m still a way off goal I am happy to make the journey as easy as possible 😃

Also, when the time comes, I will move straight up to 7.5mg. I appreciate that some people suffer from nasty side effects, so the jump is not always the best idea. However, my concern is that moving up very slowly would mean that the benefits of the higher dose were offset by the body adapting to each small increase - iyswim? Apologies if I haven’t explained it well!

AbundanceofKatherines · 21/07/2025 10:04

I have just skim read the thread from the start of my holiday and wanted to add my condolences to @Ricoletti- I’m so sorry for the loss of your grandma - my thoughts are with you and your family. I hope it’s getting easier every day and you are able to cherish your memories xx

AdotHam · 21/07/2025 14:24

thanks @AbundanceofKatherines that is so useful to have another perspective! 😊

AdotHam · 21/07/2025 15:08

Also to echo others @Ricoletti I am just so sorry to hear of your loss and hope that you are being extra kind to yourself 💜

Beachbabes · 21/07/2025 15:18

Can I ask anyone who has moved to 7.5mg if the SE were worse or better than 5mg? I seen somewhere that people preferred 7.5mg as the SE were not as bad and it suited them better. I know everyone is different, I'm just looking for opinions. The suppression is wearing off mid week so I don't want to go back down.

Crunchymum · 21/07/2025 16:07

@AdotHam I think you may need to consider moving up.

I am one of the "unlucky" ones who hasn't had all that much suppression, even at 7.5mg, so I hear you on the willpower front. But I would at least try a larger dose and see if that is the magic one for you?

I am actually sticking at 7.5mg for a bit as I am away in a few days and I don't want to chance 10mg whilst I am on holiday.

@Beachbabes I have more SE's at 7.5mg (I get a headache for a day or two after and a bit of nausea) but suppression is better. 5mg wasn't a good fit for me at all, I felt my most hungry on 5mg! For me the benefits outweigh SE's but I know I'll need to move up to 10mg sooner rather than later.

Beachbabes · 21/07/2025 16:18

@Crunchymum Thanks for the info, I am going on hols at the start of my next pen and its a gamble to move up or not. I might just leave it at 5mg for another month just in case, at least I know what I am dealing with.

violetmondays · 21/07/2025 16:54

Speaking of holidays...

Has anyone had a break or delay for a holiday? My jab day is on a Friday and I go on holiday the following Wednesday, only for a week. I was thinking of maybe skipping a jab on the Friday I'll be away and just carry on with the next on the following Friday, a) so I don't have to take it with me abroad, and b) so I can just relax and not worry about side effects and c) be able to enjoy holiday food a bit more and not having to explain to others why I am not eating much.

I am wondering whether food noise will come back with a vengeance or whether I will end up eating too much and feel ill? Or will I have enough suppression to last those extra few days until I get back without doing too much damage?
Would be grateful for any similar experiences.

Coventree · 21/07/2025 17:26

I reckon 10mg’s gonna kick in and be ‘your’ dose when you get back from hols and up the dose @Crunchymum 🤞

@Beachbabes I didn’t have any side effects going from 5mg to 7.5mg…in fact, I thought at first there was less suppression as I didn’t get any of the ‘hard stops’ that I got the first week or so of going up to 5mg, but I’ve noticed this week after 3 weeks of 7.5mg that my interest in food has more noticeably waned. Always ready for my breakfast though. So (for me) 7.5mg just seems slightly better than 5mg with stronger suppression but without any increase in side effects.

I took mine with me. Jabbed as normal. I was on a cruise and lost 4lbs that week. I didn't want to disrupt the routine.
It's a personal preference.

toobusytoclean · 21/07/2025 18:25

@Beachbabes
I’m only 5 days into 7.5 and would say the suppression has lasted longer, but I can’t remember when I last did a poo. Will have a Movicol tonight.
some nausea to start with but wasn’t actually sick and had to stop eating my dinner on Friday night and passed my second Yorkshire pudding to my daughter last night (she was very happy about this🤣)
Always hungry for breakfast, less hungry for lunch but am eating, hungry again for dinner and no cravings for snacks.
Felt tired and achey on Friday but think i was just exhausted after a long and stressful academic year (am secondary school teacher)

Coventree · 21/07/2025 19:20

Aw, it’s been a while since we had a 💩 post @toobusytoclean! Hope the movicol works.

Just to report back, the fruits and fibres cubes are still working well and there’s been daily movement for a couple of weeks now for the first time in 13 years or so 🤣

toobusytoclean · 21/07/2025 20:25

@Coventree I had forgotten about the cubes. Can you post the link to them again please, would rather use something more natural

Coventree · 21/07/2025 21:15

These are the cubes from Amazon @toobusytoclean https://amzn.eu/d/bOf1Cnf

You get 3 boxes of 12 cubes each. They’re not the cheapest…but they work without any harsh side effects or nuclear reactions so I’m willing to go with it for now for the relief. I doubled up the dose and had one in the morning and one at night, and it took about 4 days to start working, then once I was in a more natural rhythm, I dropped to one a day, and have just ordered my next pack.

(3 PACK) - Ortis - Ortis Fruits And Fibre Cubes | 12 Cubes box | 3 PACK BUNDLE : Amazon.co.uk: Health & Personal Care

toobusytoclean · 21/07/2025 22:42

Thank you @Coventree I’ve ordered a ack to give them a go 😊

dozywelshbird · 22/07/2025 08:41

Morning all, weigh in today and another 1lb loss, so very slow.... But 20lb in 12 weeks is not to be sniffed at 😁

And it's been a hard lost pound as I've had hardly any suppression last week and this week so far on 5mg so will be moving up to 7.5mg for next pen.

I wonder if I'll ever get the hard stop that people talk about, I think I might have had it once in the 12 weeks I've been on MJ

Anyway, on we go, got a busy weekend ahead with 2 social events so not too hopeful for a loss next week, but hopefully I can be mindful and not overindulge.

AbundanceofKatherines · 22/07/2025 09:51

Just sharing something interesting…

I am with Juniper - pretty pricy but they were recommended and I have had good service from them.

They frequently send tasks to be completed; today’s task was called “Safely store your medication”. On one page it said that the pen needs to be used within 60 days of starting. We have always been told 30 days.

This would be quite significant - I have emailed them to ask for clarification.

Late April ‘25 starters - thread 4
Coventree · 22/07/2025 14:51

Hope they work for you @toobusytoclean!

Well done for 1lb this week and 20lbs total - a fab, steady loss @dozywelshbird ⭐️⭐️⭐️ . And I’m sure there are so many ways your health and life have improved since you started this process so don’t let ‘just’ the numbers on the scales dominate how you judge success…you’ve so got this! Hope the 7.5mg helps - it feels a ‘good’ dose for me so hope you feel the same. Enjoy your socialising!

Let us know what they say @AbundanceofKatherines - interesting that some of the rules seem to be adapting as we all learn more about these drugs!

dozywelshbird · 22/07/2025 15:37

thanks @Coventree I know I should be happy with the rate of loss, and I am mostly, its just when I read some people are closer to 30lbs lost in the same time period I get a bit green with envy 🙄

You are right, I am noticing the difference in other areas, we rescued a dog a month before starting MJ and I was really struggling with some of the walks (especially the uphill sections), whereas now it is much easier to manage with 20lb less to carry around 😄 Plus my scales measures in pounds whereas I think in stones, but just realised I am only 2lbs away from being 12 stone something, I can't remember the last time my weight started with a 12! So something exciting to aim towards.

Good to hear the cubes have sorted out your 💩 issues, I have the opposite effect on MJ.... hmmmmm

TheSilentSister · 22/07/2025 19:25

I've had a rough day.
Took my first 7.5 dose yesterday. All day today I've had trouble keeping my balance, wobbling all over the place. Nothing else, just that. Had a pre-booked cinema trip with DS and had to cling onto him for dear life due to the darkness and feeling 'spaced out'. Had the usual KFC after the film (for DS's sake),I just picked at it (appetite suppressant kicking in big time, again) and couldn't wait to get home.
I've googled MJ side affects and dizziness is one of them when first starting or increasing the dose. Funny though, I didn't have this when first starting or increasing to 5mg.

PoisonIvy89 · 22/07/2025 19:42

@PeachSnail great NSV, congrats on your 10k speed!

@Coventree that's an excellent poop update!

@dozywelshbird Great loss! I only had the hard stop in the first maybe 2 or 3 weeks, since then I have no trouble finishing meals and could easily overeat if I wanted to. I don't have the suppression and food aversion that some people report but I don't feel any need to snack between meals and there's no food noise screaming at me to raid the kitchen.
20lbs so far is a healthy and sustainable loss, I sometimes get the green eyed monster too when I see people losing much faster, I am impatient and want to lose a hundred lbs overnight and be finished but I keep telling myself that it's not worth the hair loss and muscle loss.

@AbundanceofKatherines that's interesting, please let us know what they say!

@TheSilentSister Fingers crossed it passes soon

I was cleaning the kitchen today and when moving the microwave wondered how heavy it was. 25lbs. I've lost 28lbs so far. No wonder I feel so much better already. I wouldn't get very far carrying a microwave before needing to put it down and take a rest but I used to have that stuck on me 24/7!!! I am excited to lose another microwave!!!

(In hindsight it would have made more sense to bring the scales to the kitchen instead of carrying the microwave through the house to the scales but I think that counts towards today's strength traing 😜)

AbundanceofKatherines · 22/07/2025 19:50

They said,

”Thanks so much for getting in touch — I completely understand why that would be confusing, especially when planning around things like travel or medical procedures. I’m here to help clarify.

I’ve raised this with our internal team to correct the inconsistency you saw, but I can confirm that per our pharmacy guidelines, the correct timeframe is 30 days. Once the cold chain is broken — which happens during delivery or once you start using the pen — the medication remains stable if stored below 30°C, but must be used within 30 days. After that, it should be discarded, even if there’s some left.

Thanks again for flagging this, and if you have any other questions, feel free to reach out anytime.”

Really bad form as, presumably, there were a lot of people who saw the incorrect information.
