Hey everyone, I get my pens from my doctor , I ordered a 5mg pen because I decided to go up a pen and ordered a week early ahead of my last dose of 2.5 next week but another 2.5mg pen was delivered Friday night by my local pharmacy so too late to ring docs and query why it's not a 5mg sooo , what would you do ? I have a holiday coming up I'm going abroad mid July so would you stay on the 2.5mg for another month or would you ring doc Monday and try and change the pen to a 5,mg pen ? Thanks 🙏

I'm not the right person to answer, because I'm only on wk 1, but is the 2.5 working for you?

Booklover2021 · 15/06/2025 13:51

Oops just realised I was posting on the old thread 😬

Booklover2021 · 15/06/2025 13:55

Also week 3 day 2 today and there seems to be a bit more "food noise". Was hungry about 2 hours after waking, had a protein shake and it seems to have helped but I'm a bit worried as usually I don't have any of this?

ChiaraMontague · 15/06/2025 14:08

@MtKiloMounjaro- LOVE your username!

This is what I’ve found out so far about hydration and nutrition targets but I’d love to find out what has worked for everyone else:

For hydration generally (but not specific to Mounjaro), I’ve seen a few sources recommending to drink 22ml of water per kilo of body weight. I think I will aim for 3l a day to try to avoid constipation.

For calories, the BMR calculator will give you your Basal Metabolic Rate (I.e. minimum calories your body needs to perform basic functions ) - what I’m not clear on is whether people are aiming for this or deducting from it?

https://www.calculator.net/BMR-calculator.html

Its also important to eat enough protein, a calculation I’ve seen is 0.8g - 1.1g of protein per kg or body weight per day. For people trying to lose weight use the goal body weight rather than current body weight.

BMR Calculator

This free BMR calculator estimates basal metabolic rate based on well-known formulas. Also, learn more about variables that affect BMR.

Im
listenifn to this book about food, ultra processed food and obesity management with GLPs. “Diet, drugs and dopamine”. David Kessler. He says some
perople behave like anyone with an addiction - that’s why we should have an approach like managing smoking, drinking and drug behaviours.

i think some of it is probably on point . Much of it isn’t new, but it’s good to reinforce that I am simply unable to manage my diet alone.

Also trying to decide that @BadgerFace - will see how this week goes and if weight loss is still there then I might stay at 2.5. Indecisive at the best of times 😂

Trying to decide whether to start today or not. Trouble is that I have an full afternoon tea coming up with a friend in a week's time and don't want too many questions if I don't eat much of it.
Your thoughts please.

Just start. If you don’t feel like eating much just say you feel a bit ‘funny’ today or something

Roxietrees · 15/06/2025 14:55

Hi all, just had my very first dose of 2.5, I’m wondering - with the pen it’s supposed to have 4 doses of 2.5 in it right? A PP mentioned a ‘golden dose’ - can anyone tell me what this means please?

Lovelesslily · 15/06/2025 15:04

Hopping onboard!

I started with 2.5 last Friday 6/6 with starting weight of 17 stone 1 lb 🫣
This week has been a revelation - zero hunger, zero cravings! Marvelling at small things - for instance I have a brownie company I've ordered from before who advertise weekly drops on social media - previously (many many times!) I'd see the post and literally not be able to stop thinking about it until I gave in and ordered. This week, I could look and think yes that looks nice but I don't want it and move past it. Amazing!

I have lost a crazy 9lbs this week - now 16 stone 6. I'm fully aware a lot is water weight but still buzzing at such a boost to start me off. First week I felt a little nauseous some days and slightly light headed (probably as I didn't honestly eat enough- I will get that in check I was just allowing it for one week to see how I settled).

I'm on this journey to lose enough weight to qualify for NHS IVF - so BMI below 30 which is under 13.8 stone for me. I lost lots of weight on my own in 2019 - 6 stone - and had got to 12.8 (my lowest weight since I was probably about that age!) And then gained 5 of it back. I constantly kick myself for allowing it to creep back but no point dwelling on it now.

Did my second 2.5 jab on Friday and so far good suppression and no side effects - I feel completely normal just with absolutely no appetite. Here's hoping that continues!

I just can't believe this is correct.
If you're proper big, which many of us are, you're potentially drinking 4 or 5l a day under this.
I can't think that would be healthy

ThisNeedsToWork · 15/06/2025 15:20

Afternoon and thanks you to @Nerdippy @Shwingbada @SomethingAboutYou and @Lifecircle for the support and advice about how wk2 has started. You’ve all made me feel so much better. I’m not feeling the suppression the way I did last week but I ate far less at lunch and I’m still craving healthy snacks like fruit so I wouldn’t say it’s having zero effect, just different from what I expected after last week. Interesting to read that this is just a low dose to get my body used to the drug before having 5mg. I’m worried about moving up and potential SEs.

ThisNeedsToWork · 15/06/2025 15:22

@Lovelesslily wow, that’s an amazing loss in just a week! Well done resisting the brownie too. I can, and have eaten 4 in one sitting! 😔

Yes, as disappointed as I am not to feel the same suppression as this time last week, I’m still going to wait another week before deciding whether to move up or not. If it was 3.75, I’d do it without thinking but it seems such a big jump to 5!

Puffalicious · 15/06/2025 15:25

Hello everyone 👋.

This is a huge step for me as I've been losing by myself since 1st Jan (have lost 16lbs), but have stalled completely these past 6 weeks. This is despite walking fast for 1hr daily & watching what I eat. I think it's menopause affecting it. I've put on these extra 3 stones due to ruddy peri/ menopause these past 3 years.

I think I'm now at the stage of trying Mounjaro. My sister has just confessed she's lost the 1.5 stones she wanted to on it. She looks great.

I'm 13 stone exactly, but would like to be a healthy BMI at 11stone or just under.

I've found the Weight loss threads brilliant & hope this is the same.

Can anyone direct me to the thread where the cost comparisons are? I'd like to be as cost effective as possible. Thanks so much in advance.

Thank you!
I would absolutely eat 4 brownies in one sitting previously 😵‍💫 It was really out of control! I think that's what I'm really enjoying so far, actually feeling in control and not ruled by intense cravings.

magnoliaday · 15/06/2025 15:59

Hey all just took dose 4 of 2.5 slow loss for me but going with slow and steady wins the race only 4lb down since I started

Crossingeverything · 15/06/2025 16:57

Hi, I have my pen in the fridge and waiting for the right moment to inject. Terrified of side effects as I have a long commute to work. How did others cope ?

I think someone else mentioned this but I've ordered a 5mg pen with a view to either continuing on 2.5 (and potentially - controversial, I know - keeping it in the fridge and using it beyond the 30 days) or being able to have 3.75 or 5 as required. It's only £10 more than the 2.5 pen. There's a chart showing how many clicks are required for each amount.

I do mine late at night, and go straight to bed. No SE to note to be concerned of. Bit of a gurgly belly and loose stool but not the rush to the toilet movement that diarrhea brings. But that was probably WK1 D 3/4. And seemed to be a one off for the day.

Crossingeverything · 15/06/2025 17:58

@Xmasfairy86 Thanks, I have IBS which swings between constipation and diarrhoea so I’m expecting it to affect me in my bowels one way or another!

HerFifthDecade · 15/06/2025 18:51

As I am in wk 5 now, I recall feeling very hungry on wk2.i barely lost a 1lb that week, but by wk3 weigh in I seemed to right myself.
I am 2lb short of a stone loss across 5 weeks now.
No food noise.Ive even been on holiday and did not want hardly any food, I had to force myself to eat.I have not eaten a single crisp or chocolate in those weeks, which were my nemesis! I only fancy fruit or green stuff! I am on 1200 calories on nutracheck , which is brilliant app. I do 3 classes a week and seem to loose more on those days than rest of week.
The food noise will go in wk3 I think for those worrying on week 2.Fingers crossed.
I feel like a different person with far more energy and good mood .

FineandDandie · 15/06/2025 19:06

I'm due second jag on Tuesday. Did a sneaky mid-week weigh-in yesterday and I'd lost 3lbs and was thrilled with that. Main thing I've noticed is just not thinking about food all the time - that's been a revelation. Hope, when I weigh in properly on Tuesday morning, that I've lost around 4lbs, and hope too that week 2 goes as well as week 1 has!

Puffalicious · 15/06/2025 19:07

Hi all,

I know it's a Sunday & Father's Day & folk are busy. I'd just like to get recommendations of where to go to get started? Which provider?

Thanks

UglyBastardFace · 15/06/2025 19:13

W2 D2 l am feeling much less suppression too. I succumbed and bought a choc bar today. I ate it but didn't taste half as good as previously.

I think I will be moving up the doses as planned but annoyed for giving into temptation.

I shopped around and found Med Express best taking into account future doses and orders. You can get some cheaper for the first order but then price jumps up. Hope that helps!
