https://www.theguardian.com/society/2025/jun/05/contraception-warning-over-weight-loss-drugs-after-dozens-of-pregnancies

I heard this on the radio today. I am due my period today but no sign of it, which is why I tested.

I seen this all over the news last week. It puzzled me though, cause MedExpress had loads of check boxes to confirm that you understood to use additional protection etc or that the contraceptive pill isn't as effective when using MJ.

Big congrats to you though 🎉 xx

UglyBastardFace · 17/06/2025 14:13

Congrats @BonjournoMonjourno 🎉 Hope everything is well and you're good.

Sideorderofchips · 17/06/2025 14:39

This is one thing my GP brought up with me that mounjaro can interfere with contraception

Sideorderofchips · 17/06/2025 14:42

And congrats @BonjournoMonjourno 💙

FoxRedPuppy · 17/06/2025 14:53

Congrats @BonjournoMonjourno . Although even if it interfered with my contraception it would have to the immaculate conception for me 😂

I injected today!

Is it just oral contraceptives - and HRT - but not coil/patch/implant?

Flatulence · 17/06/2025 15:21

I've just ordered my first pen and planning to start my injections next week (have some work travel to do first, so don't want to risk weird side effects while I'm away).

My BMI is 41 and I'm aiming to lose over 50kg (I'm tall). But even losing a few kg would be great as I know my health is suffering.

I'll confess, I am worried about serious side effects - especially around raised heart rate (as mine is already a bit high) and injection site reactions (my skin is phenomenally sensitive) but I can't go on being as big as I am.

My main motivation is my health. My blood pressure - while not classed as high - has crept up over the last couple of years. I have a family history of cardiovascular disease and I'm also fed up of being so tired and struggling so much in the heat.

So I'm excited but also quite scared, as I have a lot of health anxiety anyway.

I believe so

Yes, because of possible diarrhoea, sickness etc. so really it’s the side effects that might affect it. In theory it could impact on any medication absorption.

Sam187 · 17/06/2025 17:55

W3 D1 for me...

SW overall: 119.9kg (18st 12.3)
Lost 5lbs on my own
SW pre-MJ: 117.6kg (18st 7.3)
CW: 114kg (17st 13.3)
GW: 93kg (14st 11) - initally, then review.

Loss so far: 6lbs wk 1, 2lbs wk2.

Feeling generally pretty good, aside from being cold again for the first couple of days after the jab - hands, feet, nose 😂.

Still undecided about going up to 5mg or staying at 2.5mg. Anyone have any experiences that would help decide?

Looby99 · 17/06/2025 18:12

I'm due to take my second jab tonight and I'm feeling even more anxious than the first 😭 I was super lucky and had zero side effects with the first, so I don't know why I'm so stressed about it but my anxiety is through the roof just freaking out big time. Trying to remind myself all the reasons I'm doing this, and the amazing changes I've already seen this past week in my eating habits. Any other health anxiety sufferers on here, does it get any easier 😭

I am a bit of a fibre evangelist, and I don't think many people realise how little they eat - you can hit your five a day and still barely touch the sides. I see people mentioning prunes, but even six prunes is only 3.1g of fibre - we're meant to be aiming for 30g a day...

What do you suggest? I have added chia seeds which look an amazing amount of fibre per 100gsm but I wonder how many months it would take to eat that amount?? 🤔

MontysMum909 · 17/06/2025 19:03

Crinklecat · 17/06/2025 09:58

Very jealous of you all not wanting to eat. Day 2 and I’m thinking about food as much as normal

I didn’t have suppression until week 2 so don’t be despondent. Then it was odd - walking around the bakery isle at Asda but feeling -nothing!! Until then it hadn’t occurred to me that I had any suppression as I still had some hunger.
keep going

SusanSHelit · 17/06/2025 19:05

Suppression well and truly working today!

Had coffee and a banana for breakfast, plus a couple of hash browns from greggs for a bit of a carb boost before getting tattooed this morning. I didn't really feel like them but I wanted to avoid the big crash that can happen. Picked up some chicken bites and wedges from the same greggs on the way home. I don't usually eat meat but thought it might be a good idea to get a bit of good protein to speed up healing and I was pretty hungry, but not nearly as ravenous as I usually am post tattoo.

Got home and crashed for a couple of hours (I always get really tired after being inked).

Ds wanted subway for tea so I thought I'd get a salad and have got about halfway through it and am utterly defeated. It was pretty tasty but usually I'd finish a subway salad and still be hungry

Tracked all my calories and I'm just over 1000 today which is not bad at all. If only the scales would ever get below 94kg!

Does anyone take electrolytes? How often if so? I've just got some that you fizz in your water

Yes I do. Every morning when I wake up. Not sure if they work or not. I feel like they do.

FoxRedPuppy · 17/06/2025 19:47

I’ve had electrolytes for running, when I was training for a marathon. Are they recommended with mounjaro?

Thank you! I'll maybe have one first thing when I wake up and getting ready. Might give me more energy to get my toddler ready for nursery 😂

ThisNeedsToWork · 17/06/2025 19:51

Congratulations @BonjournoMonjourno! 🤗Maybe not the best timing but it really never is. Hopefully, the rest of this thread will keep you motivated for after you give birth/finish BFeeding Keep lurking and post updates on how you’re doing. 🥳

MadlyTrudyDeeply · 17/06/2025 19:53

I've gone over 1200 cals today for the first time since day 1. Given that was probably a fraction of what I ate before that, and in 17 days I've not eaten biscuits, cake, sweets, chocolate, crisps, bread etc which is unheard of, I'm not sure why I'm so annoyed with myself. Unfortunately I had overnight oats last night which were vile, but also more calories and had less fibre and protein than my usual shake and it started the day off badly.

Sogfree · 17/06/2025 19:58

The company I ordered my pen from has just sent the questionnaire to reorder.

I've had no weight loss at all in my first week. No side effects either. So I'm going 5mg.

The jump in cost from 2.5mg to 5mg when there's no new buyer discount is another £60 though!

DD517 · 17/06/2025 20:23

Second injection done, this time a lot of liquid seemed to come out on my tummy. Feeling a bit annoyed incase i've done it wrong somehow and wasted the dose! I really don't want to struggle this week. Week 1 5lb down. But have started to have a few cravings/food noise the past day or so, so really don't want to have messed up!

Lots of people have had similar experiences, it's nothing to worry about ☺️

Yep! Just over that probably. I'm wondering if i did it at an angle or pushed too hard?! No idea! We'll see how this week goes I guess!
