Weekly check in

SW: 96.55
CW: 76.5
Weekly loss 0.1kg

Blimey, I this week is my worst week since starting in terms of losses. But, it's TOTM, plus with it being in the 30s, it's probably not helping with the water retention.

My eating habits haven't changed, I am still weighing portions, but still haven't got the energy to put it in Nutracheck. This is ok. I will resume when things have settled.

I don't think the not tracking has been the issue with lack of weight loss. Funnily enough, I keep catching my reflection and being pleased with what I see, and I do actually feel like I am shrinking. I have tried not to look at lower belly, as that's the bit that retains water at TOTM, so is even worse than usual right now.

NSV: I notice such a difference when swimming. I now do 25% of my lengths with front crawl and feel ready to increase this to more. I used to do mostly breast stroke with about 12 backstroke lengths thrown in to elongate and align. Still sticking to 60 minute swims though, and don't think I need to do more than this, unless I am having a hanging at the pool side sunbathing with a book kind of day and it's easy to get a couple of hours in then on shorter bursts

For those thinking about bottoms (🤣) your techniques are probably much better than mine, but my instructor is always shouting at us to make sure we bend backwards when squatting, and making sure our knees don't move in front of our toes. She also shouts at us to look in the side mirror to make sure. She is lovely btw, and I get on quite well with being in a class with someone who shouts at you to motivate you and improve technique. We also aren't allowed to put our back heels to the floor when lunging, and have to make sure we go down, not forwards to ensure we are engaging the right muscles correctly. It's all new to me so lots to learn

Edit: The typos! 🤣 Just upgraded to a bigger phone and thought that would resolve that issue 🤔

How has everyone found moving up from 7.5mg to 10mg? Unsure whether to move up this weekend or take 7.5mg doses from the 10mg pen. The 7.5mg is still going ok but I feel like my diet could slide with the hot weather. I don't know how much faith to put in willpower. I have also already changed my diet slightly to include a bit more pizza/pasta due to exercise which means I've had to put more thought into not exceeding my calories. I know I need to rejig in a better way but I feel absolutely sapped by the heat and don't want to think too much 😆

PurpleCoo · 11/07/2025 16:27

@usedtobeaylis That's an interesting comment about worrying your diet could slide in this heat. I struggle to eat when the temp is above 25c, so I am probably eating less at present (That's a me thing, not an MJ thing... I ate 3 times in total on a 4 night trip to Singapore... 1 was a midnight curry!). Although as soon as peri hit, my magical and naturally occuring weight management tactics stopped working!

Although I can't comment on the difference between 7.5 and 10, as I'm still on 5mg, but I find myself in the same quandary when thinking about what to order next. I guess if you take a 7.5mg dose from the 10mg pen, you don't have to commit to 7.5 for the rest of the pen. You can go up at any point, when it feels right. There is quite a jump in price between 5mg and 7.5mg so I'm reluctant to order a stronger pen, if I'm going to be on 5mg the whole time. I just can't tell if it's the MJ still working so I'm not constantly hungry, or the heat!

Mounjaroday · 12/07/2025 07:45

@usedtobeaylis I moved up to 10mg this week and it’s been absolutely fine.

Nomoretopswithblacktrousers · 12/07/2025 08:55

I normally feel hungrier in hot weather. Appreciating Mounjaros benefit this summer, not just for the weight loss.

Day 6 of my taper and after a heavy nap last night, I woke up feeling hungry. Am sure it's caused by a blood sugar drop but it's been months since I felt that. I ignored the feeling, had some water and it passed.

Scale continuing to stick on somewhere between 70.x and 71.x. It'll give in eventually. I am looking forward to seeing the 69s!

It's not so much eating more, but eating inconsistently that's the danger - undoing my work by being unbothered about organising and then eating later in the evening when it's cooler (theoretically, the cooler doesn't seem to be happening much just now!).

I don't know if this is much use but you can get the 7.5mg with We Prescribe for around £130 and then they've been price matching for me, so the monj.co.uk site is really helpful for finding the cheapest price.

PurpleCoo · 12/07/2025 09:26

@usedtobeaylis ah that makes sense. Timings are so weird aren't they. The days are so long because people tend to get up early to do stuff before work as it's too hot after... But then you might be eating at 9pm once it's cool, so then you are sitting there at midnight in your garden, not even realising the time. Definitely leads to inconsistency and loss of routine.

Thanks for the suggestion about We Prescribe, I always forget about price matching. My last pen was £99.00 and I have never paid more than £109.00 I think, so it seems like a big difference/increase. I am happy to pay if I need the bigger dose, it's no problem, but I don't want to throw money away if I don't need it if that makes sense.

Start weight (15 Feb 25) / BMI: 19st 9lbs / 44.4 (obese class 3)
Current weight / BMI: 16st 6lbs / 37.1 (obese class 2)

Wks 1-4 (2.5mg): -17lbs
Wks 5-8 (2.5mg): -6lbs
Wks 9-12 (2.5mg): -11lbs
Wks 13-16 (5mg): -7lbs
Wk17-20 (5mg): 4lbs
Total loss: 45lbs

Wk20 weigh in this morning (wk8 on 5mgs) … 1lb loss - slow and steady wins the race, right?!

I’ve lost 16% of my starting weight and averaging 2.2lbs loss per week. Starting 3rd 5mg pen today.

Goal: healthy BMI (between 18.5 and 24.9 (8.4st-11st) for my height)

usedtobeaylis · 12/07/2025 09:44

Had a quick look on the scales this morning and it says I've not lost anything since last week, which means I've lost 1lb only in the last three weeks. Tomorrow is my actual weigh in day so will see what it says. I'm fine with slower weight loss but 1lb in 3 weeks doesn't feel good. Especially since my hair has started falling out again after a week or so reprieve. It's so thin now 🙁

HoratioBum · 12/07/2025 11:52

@Mounjarodayfantastic news! You can afford to be extremely proud of yourself, that’s an amazing loss.

I’m cautiously optimistic that my plateau has finally broken after best part of a month of losing and gaining the same pound or so, I’ve dropped 3 pounds in as many days. Long may that last, I was becoming quite dejected watching everyone else power on past me!

Updated Shotsy this morning as I’m now 14 stone exactly (2 stone 4 lost in total) and it very kindly noted my weight as 13 stone 14 instead of 14.
I’m in the 13s!!! Last time I was this weight was 9 years ago. So very happy about that. Still got 4 stone or so to go but I’m now a third of the way through my total loss, and when I look at it like that, I’m doing really well.

@usedtobeaylis I’m on my 2nd month of 10mg and it’s been a mixed bag to be honest - I didn’t get on with 7.5mg at all and so went up as soon as I could. 10mg seems to suit me in that the majority of the time I just forget about food. I eat when I’m hungry but I don’t ever want to snack and meeting my calories is relatively easy. Mentally I feel very calm and for the first time since I started on MJ I haven’t been fussed by alcohol. I thought I had finally ‘found my dose’. The first month was a dream.

Last couple of weeks however has been a different matter, I’ve had awful diarrhoea a few times and for the last few days for the first time I’ve had Sulphur burps. I had no idea just how awful they would be, they taste and smell like they are emanating from my arsehole.

Nothing has changed, eating habits just the same, possibly more yoghurt being eaten but that’s about the only difference. For the first time I’m considering going back to 7.5mg as the change in bum habits is just a bit much to be honest.

I also have stalled for the past month. I’m still eating within my TDEE calories but 10mg has been much more erratic weight loss wise.

Of course everyone is different and YMMV. I’m going to stick the rest of my pen out and see how I feel then.

SansaClegane · 12/07/2025 16:38

Checking in... just caught up on the thread, how lovely to see so many NSVs as well as on-scale victories 😅

SW: 15st 0.4lbs (BMI 33.0)
CW: 10st 13.2lbs (BMI 24.0)

So, I've finally cracked the 11st mark! My first target! And after exactly 5 months lol. I'm thinking of aiming for 10 1/2 now but don't really want to go lower as some parts of me look decidedly "boney" which I'm not a fan of. Still worried about how I'm going to maintain 😳 this was the first week back down to 5mg and I have to say the food noise has crept back, although it's still manageable. Will I have to be on MJ forever?!
@skyscrapersinging so sorry to hear about the loss of your cat. My DDog is getting on a bit now and even though I think we've still got a few years ahead of us, I'm already dreading the day. Hope you are keeping up ok.
@Zibb well some good news, the council caved in at the last minute and gave him the place at the school we wanted! Even agreed to transport, although now I'll have to battle the transport team to get it all sorted before September 🤔 just never ends, does it. How was your meeting with CAMHS? Did you manage to get any further? Also, I'm so sorry to hear how your customers spoke to you! Wtf.

Catmum100 · 12/07/2025 16:44

I haven't updated in a while, but continue to be really motivated and supported by everyone's comments and experiences here. Everyone's doing amazingly and I can't believe we're all nearly 6 months in!

I'm slowly ticking along, 1lb away from 2 stone lost and on 7.5mg. No side effects. And I'm so relieved to have lost that weight during this heat wave! I'm almost back in a size 12 for the first time in years having been a very comfortable 16 in Feb. And I'm reminding myself that without the jab I'd have continued to gain and might have been a size 18 by now and a 20 by xmas.

What's curious is that absolutely none of my friends have noticed! I'm in shorts and vest tops in this heat, very noticeably a lot smaller and not one comment, not even when a friend was talking about considering MJ today. My partners mum has noticed and that's it! I'm actuully glad, as I've kept quiet from all but my partner that I'm on the jab due to judgemental comments I've heard from some people. And the fact I've lost more slowly has probably helped me keep the secret without questions. Its just surprising!

We are at exactly the same weight! This morn I saw it flicker between 69.9 and 70.0. It eventually stopped on 70kg exactly. So disappointing. I’ll try again tmrw. Off on hols Mon, would be so exciting to go knowing that I’ve gone under 70kg for the first time in a decade… or more..

@SansaClegane it’s been a teary week since Mon, I’ve been glad to be away for work TBH. Being at home would’ve been too hard. I drove back in yesterday and expected to see her bound up to meet me when I got my suitcase out. Then I remembered… :(

Guess you could take a lower dose if you’re not sure @Ashabeth Enjoy your week!

My arse is as flat as a pancake. Does anyone have any recommendations for shapewear that might help lift up my bottom? … or am I into dreaded squats & lunges territory?

M&S do a range of bum enhancing shapewear, saw them the other day.

Good evening all

Back from my holiday, was really mindful and did not indulge at all really, kept my food pretty much the same as at home which is a miracle and did lots of steps a day.

The only thing I slipped up on was drinking water, really did not drink nearly the same as I would at home or use my electrolytes even though I brought them with me.

The result is a 1.2 kilo gain!!

Really hoping it’s water retention in the heat, but gutting as I was so mindful not to undo my hard work.

Onwards and downwards hopefully, next holiday is mid September so would love to be 5 kilos down.

Hope everyone is going well and surviving the heatwave.

It'll be temporary water retention from the heat and flying. Wait a couple of days and I'm sure all will be back to normal and hopefully lighter than you left.

That is exciting. I'm sure with the heat there's some temporary water retention so do yourself a favour and go away and have the holiday you deserve.

@SansaClegane thinking of you!

@Mum2Fergus I started at 19 stone 9 16th august so know how it feels I know ive been on it alot longer but keep going my thread never posted for a while so joined here.

@Nomoretopswithblacktrousers I feel you! Me and my partner seem to argue every weekend he works away in week and im just unsure wether after 8 years it can last I feel now ive lost weight that I can only deal with so much now youve lost weight your finding someone else. No im not im just knowing what I deserve. Definitely pondering at moment and don't want find anyone else but struggling.
Well done on everyone's success! I didn't bother jabbing this week, will in morning going back down to 7.5mg tues

usedtobeaylis · 13/07/2025 10:44

W21 Day 1
Week 10 on 7.5mg
Starting weight: 16st 5lb
Current weight: 13st 8lb
Loss this week: 0
Total loss: 2st 11lb

The 3 stone loss still eludes me - I've only lost 3lbs this month and nothing in the last two weeks. I'm not losing as much weight as I'm losing hair! I'm starting to get really worried about the hair loss, I only need to touch it and hair is coming away. I'm pinning my hopes on this stall in weight loss also stopping or slowing down the hair fall.
