May Starters Thread 3 ~ Onwards & Downwards!

1000 replies

SussexLass87 · 29/05/2025 21:05

Roll up, roll up...thread 3 for the loveliest bunch of losers!

"Onwards & Downwards" has become our little motto for the days when it all feels a bit tough and that wine / chocolate / cake looks a bit too bloody tempting.

Lots of love,
Lass x

Jabbed last night and had nightmares all night. I am waking up half hourly. Feel exhausted.

Urgh I had that my first week, some really disturbing dreams I feel your pain x

Seahorsesplendour · 06/06/2025 07:03

Oh no @Mounraine sorry you had a rough night!! Sounds grim!! Hope your day isn’t too full on! Take care Flowers

Herewegoagain80 · 06/06/2025 07:14

Weigh day check in and on W6D1 I’m down another 2.5lb. That’s a total of 13lb in 5 weeks. I’m definitely in the slow and steady group but I’m over the moon with it. Fingers crossed I can hit that magical 1st stone loss next week.

Do any other daily weighers find that the scales don’t budge for 5 or 6 days in a row but then they have a decent loss in the space of 1 day? That happens to me every week.

Absolutely. I’ve been the same weight since Sunday and just hoping to lose something in the next few days. Previously I’d have given up hope, abandoned the diet and gone on a binge but with MJ I’ve no desire to do that.

Mounraine · 06/06/2025 07:27

I’m used to the vivid MJ dreams but last night’s were distressing. Ah well. At least they’re not real.

Daily-weigher and I have definitely had to get used to the fluctuations.

RoaryMouth · 06/06/2025 07:31

@Herewegoagain80 I am the same! Doesn’t seem to be moving and then - boom!
End of week 3 today and 11lbs down. 😃
Although I do need new scales as was fluctuating a couple of pounds as I was weighing. So I averaged the weight loss out. Could be 10lbs, could be 12. But 11 is amazing.

ConfusedMiddleAger83 · 06/06/2025 07:45

Same with the daily weighing, really trying to ignore the bad days. Yesterday was my last day at work, I’ve been let go after many years. I had a single glass of pimms and we had takeaway but I ordered a salad… I have put on 2 whole pounds overnight! I did also start my period. I know it will probably come straight off again but it’s not easy to ignore the sabotage feelings…

its jab day today and first try at the extra dose, hopefully it works ok.

BrienneMonroe · 06/06/2025 07:46

Week 5 weigh in

Another 2.6lbs so 15.2lbs in 5wks.

Jab 6 tonight and starting my second 2.5 pen as it is working well….I hope I haven’t jinxed it!

I’m sorry they’ve let you go after all these years. It happened to me during Covid. Hope you’re ok.

dc82 · 06/06/2025 08:20

Morning everyone. I’ve been a bit quiet as super busy but I’ve been reading, liking and following the thread whenever I can. There’s been some really helpful recommendations and suggestions in here too.

I really do find that if I have a wobble I find just reading this thread really reassuring!

@ConfusedMiddleAger83 sorry to hear about the job. Must be hard after a long time 🫂. Period will definitely be the cause of the 2lbs and not the Pimm’s! 😉

Well done to all losers 🥳

@Mounraine hope you get some better sleep!

Weigh in day for me:
week 1 - 6lb loss
week 2 - 4lb loss
week 3 - 2lb loss

Week 4 starts now! 💪 I’d really like to get to that first stone off, as it’s like a mental leap I think.

Anyone still waiting on an Asda order processing? My second pen is taking forever - glad I’ve stuff to do the extra dose next week at this rate.

That’s rough I was made redundant a few years ago it was a hard time mentally - it’s good you’re on the MJ journey as it gives hope and positivity. In the meantime take it easy!

ConfusedMiddleAger83 · 06/06/2025 08:34

Thank you, I do actually feel quite positive about the job situation, I am going to take the summer with the kids (well young adults now) and have lots of wellness stuff planned. I do feel hopeful it will turn out for the best.

SecretSquirrel703 · 06/06/2025 08:37

@dc82 Asda are run by Zava who are having some major delays this week with lots of negative comms online. Asda have dropped their prices recently & Zava have just been taken over by new owners, not great timing to do both at once it seems! (Might even be that Asda aren't linked with them now, but that would possibly cause the current issues too).

I've started a Zava thread in this section. Hopefully it's just a temporary bump in service & will be resolved soon.

@ConfusedMiddleAger83 thats a fantastic way to view it and use your time. Every change can be a new opportunity right? 💜

SussexLass87 · 06/06/2025 08:43

Hey all

Checking in and reading all your posts...sending you all a bunch of hugs and encouragement. Had a pretty low week but reading all your posts has kept me going.

Week 6 weigh...I'm now 16st 1lbs. Tantalisingly close to tipping into the next bracket. 41 years old.

Week 1 - 4lbs
Week 2 - 2lbs
Week 3 - 2lbs
Week 4 - 0bls
Week 5 - 1lbs
Week 6 - 3lbs

Note to self - focused on water this week, had one biscuit when I felt like it and the world didn't end. I feel and look much better when I don't eat sugar!

Heading out tonight for mocktails with two dear friends...will be interesting navigating the menu!

Lots of love, Lass xx

Morning! WK5D1 today. I usually jab on Fridays and weigh on Mondays but I moved my weigh in to encourage myself not to go mad whilst in London tonight/tomorrow.

SW: 17 stone 2lbs or 240lbs
WK1: -6lbs
WK2: -5lbs
WK3: 0
WK4: -3lbs
CW: 16 stone 2lbs or 226lbs

So in my first month with MJ, I have lost a stone! Yesss!

Off to stab myself in the leg with 5mg. Have a good day losers!

That’s good. When I lost my phone it turned out for the best. My mum was needing more and more care, and I was previously cabin crew. I set up a little rural coffee box from my horse trailer. It’s lovely and I can work as I like. Doesn’t earn me as much, but it’s much less stressful working for myself.

Iggy35 · 06/06/2025 09:28

Hi All, some amazing losses this week. Well done to everyone on their progress.

Today is the start of week 6 for me and I'm starting with 5mg (did the golden shot last week as a step up between 2.5 and 5 and got 3.08 out)

1.7lbs down this week...after some high-ish losses in the first weeks, this feels like a good progress.

17.4 lbs loss in total (1.2 stone/7.9 kg)

ElsieJay · 06/06/2025 09:37

Morning all ! Congratulations to the losers and welcome to the new starters.
Just a quick check-in as have much needed haircut at 10am, going away Tuesday for 5 weeks and decided not to jab whilst away for many logistical reasons .
Anyway , to the stats :

F, age 72 years
SW : 12st 6lbs
CW : 11st 8lbs
Started on Mounjaro 9 May , so that makes 12lbs in 4 weeks, which I’m more than happy with.

Haven’t felt great this week -could be some sort of bug, could be rushing around due to upcoming hols,or could be jabbing one day early this week ?
Had intended to jab Monday evening with the aim of squeezing one in before we fly, but as that would again be a day early I’m now having doubts .
Any wise words gratefully received !

PersonaNonFatta · 06/06/2025 09:37

Oops, hadn't checked in for a while!

Finished week 2 and am just about to take 3rd injection. I was hungry last night. Managed to contain myself, but after raving about how well 2.5 was working for me it seems I'm getting used to it now, so will move up to 5 when I've finished after all.

SW 15st 12lb
W2 15st 3lb

Yep I had that. Scales weren’t moving until this morning and have now lost 1kg since yesterday morning!!

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 06/06/2025 09:45

Managed to get golden dose from 2.5 pen. I turned it until it resisted and the it continued to turn after. The pen is now empty. I feel like a little criminal.
Think I'm going to go up to 5mg next week. The suppression is definitely less now but it's still enough that I'm able to make good choices with food and drinking.
Plus I'm a wuss. That's the main reason.

OhPolly · 06/06/2025 09:56

Morning everyone,

I'm still here in the background, cheering everyone on.

I weighed myself this morning and I'm 0.8kg up from last week which I'm unsure why but I'm trying hard not to take it to heart. My "official" weigh day is tomorrow and I've not been eating any more than usual.

Last night we decided to go do a pub quiz but we are at home beforehand and just had drinks. My son who is 15 was really up for it but the questions were so hard that we couldn't answer many, if any! We just had a couple of drinks whilst there and I tell you what, the prices in pubs have really increased. £12 for two cokes and a pint of beer for my OH.

Wedding plans have been put on the back burner to be honest and I haven't given them too much thought. I need to get myself organised and write a list of what's outstanding.

I was bored and mindlessly scrolling on tiktok the other day and came upon a video where someone walked down the aisle to "A million dreams" off the greatest showman, played by violin. I love that film and that song and would have never thought about it, but I think I'm hooked. As we have already booked a violinist to play for 3 hours during the ceremony and reception!

DDog is going for further surgery today to take the biopsies and have a little explore to see what's going on. They couldn't do everything the other day all at once, so we've had to stagger it. She currently has a chest port and abdominal drain in and her output from the abdominal drain remains high and that's only a temporary thing. I will get an update once she's had surgery, this afternoon. And then we can talk about the next steps of her care and how we manage at home, whatever that means. There was words about maybe teaching us how to manage the drains at home and what this may look like which is a bit scary, but hey ho! I'm missing her like mad and she's going to be staying in all weekend.

I'm really grateful for the support by the way guys with everything. It's good to have an outlet.

My next jab is due tomorrow morning but think I'm going to do it tonight. This will be my third jab but I'm going to increase my dose to 3.75mg for the next two doses, using the "golden dose". I already have some needles to help extract what's left. I'm going to place my order for a 5mg pen next time ☺️

I'm going to take some measurements and write down how everything is going. I have one of the Bluetooth tape measures which is handy!

That's all, I think anyway for now.

Hope everyone has a lovely day.
