Roll up, roll up...thread 3 for the loveliest bunch of losers!

"Onwards & Downwards" has become our little motto for the days when it all feels a bit tough and that wine / chocolate / cake looks a bit too bloody tempting.

Lots of love,
Lass x

W3D1 here and oh my god I feel so hungry today. I've had a big lunch and im still sitting here starving!

Hoping it's just taking a bit of time for the jab to kick in, I've drunk loads of water in the hope it fills me up.

I’m going for the golden dose as an incremental step! Really do t want to waste the amount that’s left!!

are you going up to 5mg?

Yes going to 5mg tomorrow. Tried to force the syringe open and it freed but none came out. Have no extra needles. Will buy them before next end dose. Have been hungry this week and don't think I've lost any weight- definitely time to move up.

Fatrosrhun · 03/06/2025 14:02

The morning programme on bbc1 had a section on how to get more protein at about 10am. Sorry I don’t know its name, it’s something that’s always on at my mum’s while I do her breakfast. It will be on iPlayer. They said beans, seeds and pulses are particularly good.

Optimum19 · 03/06/2025 14:23

I'm not mentioning MJ to my travel insurance - was never actually quite into the obese category and as haven't told anyone I'm taking it I can't really say anything. I'm not gonna take it with me on hols so that bit is okay. Think MedExpress might have let my gp know, but not sure?? I was pre-diabetic so that's why it was authorised, but hoping I'll drop out of that category soon, if I haven't already.

Astounded at that travel premium! What if we are no longer obese I wonder?

@HKG i think the important thing is to be consistent. I weigh myself every morning after my first trip to the loo.

I’m no longer obese and was very quick to tell her that when she asked for my height and weight 🤣🤣 basically if you’ve been prescribed them they put obesity as a prexisting condition.

OhPolly · 03/06/2025 15:05

Afternoon!

I've definately been quiet the last couple of days with work and everything life!

DDog still at home and we had a phone call with vet last night. We had the fluid samples come back and not really told us much so recommended to have surgical biopsies taken from lining of the heart, lungs and abdomen and a port to be inserted to drain any fluid from her longs as it looks to be something long term. I've also asked about them fitting port to her abdomen to drain fluid from there too as she's still very swollen and full of fluid.

We are just monitoring her weight and breathing although I've yet to weigh her today as I can't lift her myself.

She came down the stairs this morning and yelped out a bit and when outside, went to do a little run in the garden and she must of hurt herself as she cried out. She never cries out. I can count on my hand less then 5 times she ever has.

So I'm awaiting a phone call from animal hospital again to find out when we can do the above- hopefully sooner rather then later because I think she's becoming uncomfortable again.

She did go to daycare for a few hours today, more for a change of scenery but she didn't do any vigorous playing or anything, mainly chilled out with the owner whilst I was on a visit with work.

I'm up to 3.6kg loss so far and just taking each day as it comes really. I really need to up my fluid intake.

I've not really experienced any side effects so far but I never did on the lower doses.

I'm going to jab 2.5mg this week and then next week, I'll also jab the "golden dose".

I need to order a new pen at some point too and will definitely be going up to 5mg.

I have a to do list as long as my arm, plus more!

Just so that you know, if a problem does arise your travel insurance provider can cancel your cover if you have not declared taking WLI on your insurance.

There are a few articles now springing up about it all. They do need to be declared even if you are not taking it on holiday but using them.

ElsieJay · 03/06/2025 15:20

Aaaaah, @OhPolly it’s great to hear from you !
Sending very best wishes to DDog also , sounds like your vet is on top of things with the extra tests etc . Fingers crossed the phone call from the animal hospital is helpful and that they come up with a plan of action ASAP .
Very well done on your weight loss ,though imagine that’s not your top priority at the moment . Look after yourself xx

But mine's with Admiral and says in that article that not declaring the medication won't invalidate the insurance, but not declaring an underlying condition would

Right then, that's good motivation to come off the meds before I book my next foreign holiday in September! (Does it work like that?).

Good to hear from you Polly!

Interesting - when I spoke to admiral today it was this question that I had to answer with the prescribed medication:
Have you or anyone in your party been prescribed medication, received treatment or had a consultation
with a medical professional for any medical condition in the past 2 years?
Yes
because I had to answer yes to this as mounjaro is a prescribed med, this meant that they put obesity as a condition. She didn’t even ask if i was actually obese before she put it on she said it was standard.

They specified “in the last two years” sadly 😟

I had heard this too which is why I double checked with my provider. Thank goodness. We’re going a long way too so would be expensive if something was to happen and they refused to pay out.

SutekhsEars · 03/06/2025 15:53

I've just ordered my next pen from Medexpress. I ordered it early due to all the delays people have been experiencing, but I uploaded my photos this morning and I got an email a few hours later saying it had been dispatched.
Very strange.

That's where I found it quite confusing. I spoke to my insurance company and asked well what am I supposed to do and they said you have to declare obesity as the underlying condition and they put a note on your file that you are taking Mounjaro.

I had to fill in my height, weight etc and it's noted on the file.

wantmorenow · 03/06/2025 17:46

Just taken my golden dose using the " get a big strong bloke to force the plunger to turn method". 🤣 Lost some of it so no idea how much went in. Probably around the 2mg amount I reckon. Enough for now, I actually delayed my jab by 24 hours as the suppression is so high I'm struggling to meet my food intake each day.

Ok, but your GP records will show that you’re on it so fingers crossed nothing happens but insurers can request medical records if need be and they won’t pay out if that’s the case.

Foreveronaplane · 03/06/2025 18:29

Re the Insurance debate. I spoke to Aviva today. Similar to others they assess the underlying condition, obesity and note that Mounjaro is the medication used to treat it. Also asked about any medical history over past 12 months. All was in order, but I’m glad that I decided to advise them because if this comes to light then they can invalidate any claim on the policy irrespective of whether it’s mounjaro related. Likewise I declared my daughter’s acne medication.

Exactly this.
This is the issue that if you do not declare they can invalidate the insurance if something happens. It doesn't matter whether any claim has nothing to do with taking WLI.

I think this will come up more with wider coverage now that a fair amount of people are privately using WLI.

ElsieJay · 03/06/2025 19:27

Just sneaked upstairs to do my 4th jab, have done it a day early as want to squeeze another jab in next Tuesday am before we go away. Wonder if jabbing early ( albeit only 24 hours ) will cause any side effects?
Certainly don’t need any more appetite suppression .
I’ve been having the small Lidl high protein shots for breakfast most days, eggs or tuna for lunch, and chicken or fish for evening meal. I can’t fancy cooked veg though, so am eating lots of salad- who knew there were sooooo many varieties of lettuce …🤣🤣

Quitepossibly · 03/06/2025 19:28

I hadn't considered having to declare WLI to my travel insurers (took out the policy before I started MJ) but it sounds like I should. For those it applies to, you also have to declare HRT - another increase in policy cost!

Pimms123 · 03/06/2025 19:40

@Woodywig ah that's reassuring to hear. I hope my body will respond the same way. Just hoping for a bit of suppression and minimal SE. My husband bought some chocolate it's taking everything in me not to eat the lot lol

Seahorsesplendour · 03/06/2025 20:30

@ElsieJay hopefully you’ll be ok I’ve moved mine up to 24hours each time & not had any issues so 🤞🏻 for you!
