I’m absolutely fascinated by these threads and can’t get enough of all your stories! I think it’s because I’m so excited to start it myself and having made the decision to order some after my holiday next week, I’d love to know more about your journey with Mounjaro to keep me going while I wait!

  1. How long have you been using Mounjaro?
  2. How long did you stay at each dose before increasing?
  3. How much weight have you lost so far?
  4. If you’ve reached your goal weight, what dose are you maintaining on?
  5. What’s the one piece of advice you wish you’d been given when you started?

Hi
I'm in Wk7 D6.
I've so far lost 16lbs
I've taken 2.5mg for for weeks, and I'm currently on 5mg.
I'm going up to 7.5mg on my next pen, purely cos I ordered the wrong one, but u feel I could go up a dose anyway.
Side effects wise I've had some mild constipation, and a bit of fatigue the day after injection.
I've set lots of little goals (1 stone off, 10% loss, 20% off, target of 100kg) and so on.
I have a lot to lose though.

Good luck on your journey x x

SilenceInside · 21/05/2025 23:35

How long have you been using Mounjaro?

I’m in my 46th week!

How long did you stay at each dose before increasing?

I did 4 weeks of 2.5mg, 4 weeks of 5mg, 2 weeks of 5mg taken from a 7.5mg pen, 1 week of 6.25mg (not an official dose), then 7.5mg after that up until last week when I moved up to 10mg for the first time.

How much weight have you lost so far?

8 stone 1 pound or thereabouts.

If you’ve reached your goal weight, what dose are you maintaining on?

Sadly not yet! Due to being 22st when I started, so I have about 3st 7lbs yet to go.

What’s the one piece of advice you wish you’d been given when you started?

Nothing really, tbh. I’ve not had many issues or difficulties with it all so far.

Thisshirtisonfire · 21/05/2025 23:38

I was on 2.5ml for 10 weeks and lost 3 stone. But I've had to come off it as I couldn't manage the side effects. Been off it 3 weeks now and am still losing weight however I'm also still experiencing the side effects! They are wearing off a bit now but wow that's strong stuff.
Some people don't react at all to 2.5ml but I could barely eat on it and felt sick all the time.
I'm glad I've lost 3 stone but I just couldn't live like that any more.

fatgirlswims · 21/05/2025 23:40

I use the bonus dose and I do “8 day weeks” to max the doses out of the pens (it just about fits the 30 day limit)
cost =£23 per week

Willowy1982 · 22/05/2025 06:10
  1. How long have you been using Mounjaro?
  2. Since August 2024
  3. How long did you stay at each dose before increasing?
  4. I did one month on 2.5, 2 months on 5, then went up to 7.5.
  5. How much weight have you lost so far?
  6. I've lost 50lbs
  7. If you’ve reached your goal weight, what dose are you maintaining on?
  8. I'm currently maintaining on 5mg. I plan to do one more pen on 5mg and then at leqst 3 pens on 2.5mg, I may then consider coming off completely. This will take me to about 18 months of using the medication and nearly a year at goal. I was a super responder too.
  9. What’s the one piece of advice you wish you’d been given when you started?
  10. Just start. You don't know how it will affect it until you try. I was really lucky. A super responder, no side effects and it was really easy.
IDontHateRainbows · 22/05/2025 06:16

6 months in. Lost 2 stone. Prescribed gor diabetes so I get it free and will stay on it for life. I'm officially in the normal bmi range now ( just) and would like to lose another 7 lbs but if it doesn't happen I'll happily maintain at my current weight.

I'm on 10mg up from 7.5, 5 and 2.5 and am pretty much maintaining or slowly losing- admittedly im not putting much effort in to lose weight now.

I may give it one more push to get the final pounds off.

Elfie23 · 22/05/2025 06:33

Hi I’m on week 9 x

Height 5ft 8ins

DGonMJ · 22/05/2025 07:37
  1. I’ve been on MJ since January, I’m on week 20, haven’t had any breaks.
  2. 6 weeks at 2.5mg, 2 x 3.33mg, 1 x 3.75mg, 1 x 4.17mg, 10 x 5mg
  3. I’ve lost 17.4kg and very happy with my rate of loss. After the 4kg water loss in the first week it’s averaged out between 0.5-0.8kg loss per week.
  4. I’m now at my goal BMI at 22.8, I have part SE Asian heritage so under BMI-18-23 is ‘healthy’. I’m staying on 5mg to stabilise at this weight, then I hope to go back to 2.5mg and stay on a low dose for the foreseeable.
  5. Before starting I read quite a few of the threads here on MN so already had a stack of advice to follow: eat clean to avoid side effects, drink plenty of water, track calories to ensure not under-eating, track macros to ensure getting protein, increase strength training, increase calories if exhausted, don’t lose too fast to avoid hair loss and gallstones, don’t increase dose if it’s working, titrate up slowly if your nervous of the jump from one dose to the next, change supplier if you’re paying for a service you don’t need, use the fifth dose to save money.
Time4changeagain · 22/05/2025 07:49

How long have you been using Mounjaro?
I’m on week 51.

How long did you stay at each dose before increasing?
I did 5 weeks of 2.5mg, 40 weeks of 5mg, 6 weeks of 7.5mg so far.

How much weight have you lost so far?
5 stone 12 pound.

I haven’t reached my goal weight yet, still have a couple of lb to go but hope to maintain on 2.5.

What’s the one piece of advice you wish you’d been given when you started?
Take photos and measurements before you start and monthly thereafter. If you hit a plateau or feel you haven’t lost much, you will see the difference by looking back. Don’t compare your losses to everyone else!

Good luck on your journey

Toooldforthisbollocks · 22/05/2025 07:51

Been on mounjaro for just under six months.
Moved up pens as recommended 2.5, 5 mg. Couldn’t feel a thing until I started 7.5mg. Stayed on that for 2 months then moved up to 10mg as effect seemed to be wearing off. 10mg currently working well but I will move up if needed.
Have lost 50kg. (Some with just will power prior to mounjaro effects being felt) Would like to lose another 10-15kg ideally.
I don’t eat a so called “healthy” diet due to a variety of reasons - food aversions, disability / other health conditions and I am vegetarian. I simply limit calories. I can’t exercise due to disability.
I find Nutracheck very useful.
Only side effects have been at 10mg which are some constipation, feeling cold and tiredness. The last two only on the day of injection.
I think I will need to stay on mounjaro for life of I am able to do so.

daffodilandtulip · 22/05/2025 08:02

48 weeks, lost 5st 1lb (71lbs), 37.5% of my body weight

SW 13st 7lb BMI 36.9
CW 8st 6lb BMI 23

I increased from 2.5 - 5 - 7.5 - 10 quickly within one or two pens but 10 gave me side effects so went back to 7.5 and I'm still on that. I need to think about maintenance but really don't know what to do.

Advice - take photos and measurements. I only did photos and wish I had measured. I love looking back at the photos (well not love because I looked hideous but I love the comparison!)

JoanCollinsDiva · 22/05/2025 08:09

Started mid-January and have gone up the doses in the recommended way - 1 x 2.5 pen, 1 5mg pen and now on 2nd 7.5mg pen. Didn't go up from that as I have strong suppression on 7.5mg. Reached my goal of 11 stone a few weeks ago but decided to try and get down to 10. I'm now at 10.4 and I think I'm happy at this weight. I'm titrating back down with my next pen to 5mg and then 2.5mg and will stay on that for a good while I think.

Ive lost 3 stone. As for advice I think I had most of it at the beginning from doing lots of research on here beforehand but my advice to you would be - drink lots of water/herbal tea/sugar free squash I.e. have some constantly on the go. We mainly get rid of fat in our pee. Also try to do some weight training from the start as losing weight quickly can make you lose muscle and it's hard to get it back. Eat as much protein as poss to fill you up and help retain muscle. Take supplements such as B12, iron, vit D and collagen to help with energy levels and to mitigate hair loss/help skin.

Also make sure you go with a provider that offers long term maintenance such as Oushk. Some cut you off when you reach a certain bmi.

HansHolbein · 22/05/2025 08:27

How long have you been using Mounjaro?

I started on 15th October 2024.

How long did you stay at each dose before increasing?

2.5 - 1 month
5 - 1 month
7.5 2 months
10 2 months
12.5 2 months
15 one jab taken

How much weight have you lost so far?

5’5 PCOS
Starting weight: 16st 2.7lbs/102.8kg/226.7lbs BMI 37.7
Current weight: 9st 10.5lbs/61.9kg/136.5lbs BMI 22.7
Total loss: 6st 6.2lbs/40.9kg/90.2lbs

If you’ve reached your goal weight, what dose are you maintaining on?

10.5lbs to go weight. I’ll stay at 15 and work my weigh back down. I’ll need to stay on Mounjaro long term due to PCOS.

Whats the one piece of advice you wish you’d been given when you started?

Resistance training, maybe? I did a lot of research and extensive reading. This meant that nothing has been a surprise and I was ready for everything. I spent a lot of time weighing up the pros and cons of staying obese and living in a prison or taking the small to risk and being free.

I would advise you to do lots of research and extensive reading. It is very obvious from the threads that get posted on here that a lot of people don’t do this.

I would also advise you to steer clear of scaremongering shite in the media and online.

Lastly, I’ve had no side effects (apart from being cold). I feel great. PCOS symptoms gone. I didn’t have a period for about 10 years and since November they have been monthly. I can buy whatever clothes I want. I’m no longer the fattest in the room. I weigh less than my husband. Mental health improved. Spending habits dramatically reduced. Not interested in alcohol. Just free!

  1. How long have you been using Mounjaro?
this is week 12
  1. How long did you stay at each dose before increasing?

I did 4 weeks at 2.5, 6 at 5mg and am in week 2 of 7.5mg

  1. How much weight have you lost so far?
20lb as of this morning
  1. If you’ve reached your goal weight, what dose are you maintaining on?
N/A
  1. What’s the one piece of advice you wish you’d been given when you started?
Be patient, it can take a while for everything to settle and to find the right dose. Let the weight loss happen slowly as that’s healthier and try not to compare yourself to others. I didn’t want to be on a really low calorie diet, in fact I don’t measure, point or track anything now. I make good choices 99% of the time and MJ limits the portion size anyway. Yes some people lose supper quickly but they may be younger, had a poorer diet previously or may be restricting their calories significantly.
tryingtobesogood · 22/05/2025 08:40

Ergh, super not supper, though some people do lose their supper from se 😂

doodleschnoodle · 22/05/2025 08:42
  1. I started at the beginning of September last year
  2. I never got higher than 5 and most of my loss was done between 2.5 and 3.75
  3. I am at goal weight now and on maintenance. I’ve lost 73lb and gone from 34BMI to 22.
  4. I have come off MJ and maintaining fine
  5. In the early weeks, make an effort to prioritise protein and make sure you’re eating enough. I tracked calories not to make sure I was in deficit but to make sure I wasn’t way under a healthy amount.
WeAllHaveWings · 22/05/2025 08:52

How long have you been using Mounjaro?

11 months

How long did you stay at each dose before increasing?

3.75mg for 10 months

How much weight have you lost so far?

7st 4lbs

If you’ve reached your goal weight, what dose are you maintaining on?

Not at target yet, BMI now 29, not sure what target actually is will know when I get there.

What’s the one piece of advice you wish you’d been given when you started?

Be patient, set yourself up for future success by letting Mounjaro help you but don't expect, or let, it to do it all for you. Set your personal (realistic) expectations - how you do it will be unique to you, don't follow anyone else's path as they are, similar but, also very different.

Mertyl · 22/05/2025 09:45

Hello

How long have you been using Mounjaro?
I'm on week 18

How long did you stay at each dose before increasing?
I went up through the doses to 10mg then back down to 7.5 for current and next pen due to amount of suppression I was getting at 10mg (struggled to eat as just not hungry)

How much weight have you lost so far?
61lb (BMI 33 down to 25)

If you’ve reached your goal weight, what dose are you maintaining on?
Not quite there yet but close. For maintenance I'm going to titrate down by 1.25 a week until I find a level where I'm happy (and can keep getting the pens). The weight has come off a little too fast so going to be very careful.

What’s the one piece of advice you wish you’d been given when you started?
Protein intake is important.

User99999999 · 22/05/2025 10:13

Wow! Thank you to everyone who has replied. I think I’m addicted to these stories.

I’m actually kind of gutted I have to wait till after my holiday next week to order but I don’t want to risk being away when it’s delivered or having poor reception if they ask for me info. I just need to be patient.

I have just started week 9. I have lost 12 pounds which i am very pleased with as I am a plodder. I took 2.5mg for the first month, 5mg for the second and I have decided to stay on 5mg for another month at least. Side effects have been very mild, indigestion if I eat certain foods (beef mince particularly for some reason), and mild constipation. I am not counting calories, i am just eating less in general and eating a bit more healthily which is much easier when you are not craving crap. What I do eat I really enjoy, I have no aversion to eating I just get full much quicker. I want to lose another 3 stone and am hoping it will continue to go well for me. Good luck.

RobinEllacotStrike · 22/05/2025 11:22

How long have you been using Mounjaro?
Since August 24 - so nearly 10 months

How long did you stay at each dose before increasing?
Usually 2 or 3 months on each dose. I've just started 10mg

How much weight have you lost so far?
32 kilos / 70 lb / 5 stone

If you’ve reached your goal weight, what dose are you maintaining on?
I've got 18 more kilos to get to goal

What’s the one piece of advice you wish you’d been given when you started?
Its a long haul - the early excitement wears off and you settle into it. Especially if you have a lot to lose MJ gives you the capacity to keep going, whereas on more traditional diets you might stop with exhaustion (well that was me anyway).
Exercise. Every day. Find something you enjoy and keep at it.
Build your healthy new habits as you go along.
It seems to me from reading many of these WLI threads that many side effects are triggered by eating fatty or high processed carb foods. Avoid fatty/high carb foods.
Its great to have a support/chat group - there is a strong psychological side to explore when you are losing much weight and it is really helpful to have people to explore this with.
2 kiwi fruit a day keeps you regular 🥝🥝 (also high in vit c & fibre).
Dry skin brushing pre shower and moisturising all over post shower helps your skin.
My weight can fluctuate by 2 kilos every day - be aware of this & its nothing to do with weighloss. Your weight can fluctuate by 2kg every day and yet you are still losing weight!!. You can show gains that aren't gains - keep the long goal in mind & keep going.
Meal plan - you often might not feel like prepping food, but you still need to eat. So having quick easy meals/ideas to hand for these moment is invaluable.

MH isn't all magic & you still have to eat in calorie deficit - focus on protein, veggies, fibre & fruit.

(that is more than one piece of advice - but it has been 10 months 😁).

ElsaMars · 22/05/2025 11:44

I started last Aug after feeling so bloody over being fat. At the time I didn't/couldn't weigh myself as I knew it would be bad, so I guessed based on the last time I did and added a bit more. I was 44 and I think 14st something.

Now I weigh 9 st 12lb and I'm right on the BMI line between overweight and 'normal'. It blows my mind honestly!

I stayed on doses for around 2 weeks. I'm currently on my 3rd week of 12.5 because I'm trying to decide whether to start titrating down now and I'm going on holiday next week. The best thing so far has been putting on a size 12 jumpsuit and looking and feeling bloody great in it!

The side effects can be hard but the hardest bit for me it the lying about it. I wish I'd been honest from the start about being on it, because now I can't go back and say, actually I lied!

One other thing, I was on it for months before anyone noticed, I'd lost about 3 stone before people did but now everyone does, everywhere I go, all the time and it can be a bit much 😄😄

  1. How long have you been using Mounjaro?
currently on week 11
  1. How long did you stay at each dose before increasing?
4x2.5mg, 6x5mg, 1x6.25 mg so far
  1. How much weight have you lost so far?

  1. If you’ve reached your goal weight, what dose are you maintaining on?
have another 4 st (will go up to 15 mg and plan to filter down one by one dose)
  1. What’s the one piece of advice you wish you’d been given when you started?
that it’s a tool not a magic wand and that benefits and loss goes up and down , and that not everyone gets SE (I had minimal so far). Drink drink and drink more water (helps SE and boosts weightloss) , prunes helps constipation
IReallyNeedThisToWork · 22/05/2025 14:26
