Great work / losses / NSVs so far everyone!

Anyone read the maintanance thread through and able to give a quick summary?

I read it a while back - it was very negative and quite nasty to be honest!
Maybe we should record our own experiences on here? Quite a few of us are near to starting maintenance, and I for one want to keep talking on here and sharing experiences.
If the maintenance thread has improved I’m sure someone will let us know! 🤨

Thanks @Pepperwaggytail - I started reading a while back but must have given up for the same reason. I am very interested in sticking around for maintenance support chat.

I’m wondering how others have found the readjustment to starting up again after a week off (so 2 weeks between doses)? I got back from my holiday and took my 7.5mg injection on Thursday but still haven’t had nearly as much AS as usual. Does it take awhile to get back into your system? Debating whether I need to go up to 10mg as I’m not feeling as much off 7.5mg as I thought I would.

Hot weather makes us retain water. I would also imagine that having a heavy cold our bodies will be prioritising fighting that than burning fat.

Also my pattern is to lose and then plateau for a few weeks. This has happened on other diets that I've done in the past. On this thread (or the last one) I described how I plateaued for 3 weeks solid - then lost 1lb a day for 5 days.

How is your supression and how much are you eating and drinking?

Is the nausea associated with any particulr types of food - fatty or greasy? I cant currys (spice and fat) or drink fizzy drinks as the burping is really unconfortable. I am doing keto and intermittnat fasting - and have shifted over the 14 weeks that I have been on it from 2 meals a day to one meal a day. Would this help your nausea as it might be caused by slow transit through the gut?

I have gone up the doses each 4 weeks and I dont regret it.

Thanks for the reply @Knakeredd I do think since I got the cold I haven’t felt right so it could be just my body fighting that… suppression not too bad was feeling like I wasn’t eating enough so I’ve tried to eat a bit more than previous 8 weeks so perhaps it’s that or hormones urgggh! Which due to peri are all over the place too.

I think electrolytes make you retain water too @Workgetsintheway ? They seemed to do so for me, which I thought made sense, as salt and sugar in the diet encourage water to stay in you, if I'm not mistaken (because of osmosis maybe??).

I hate the constant need to pee too 😒 Michael Moseley RIP said that the constant bathroom trips, stop you being sedentary. So there is that as a silver lining 🙃.

@QS90 thats interesting it could be that I started drinking them when the weather got really hot ( & I got this awful cold) so yes could equally be water retention. Xx

@Pepperwaggytail and @Knakeredd I started MJ in July 2024. Hit goal in November 2024 going from 13st 4 BMI 30 to 10st 8 BMI 23.9. I had stockpiled 4 pens for maintenance (Med Exp cut me off). I used 3 of these pens from Nov-April on a 2.5mg dose (5mg pen) and lost a further 3/4 of a stone. I was 9 stone 11 (BMI 22.1)when I stopped taking MJ in April. This morning I weighed 9 stone 11.5.

I walk 15,000 steps a day. I am mindful what I eat but if I fancy chips, I have them, same with chocolate. I don't over-eat, I cook from scratch, eat fruit and Greek yoghurt rather than a pudding. I weigh myself everyday and eat less if I see a lb or 2 creeping on. Walking has made a huge difference... if I am walking I am not eating!

I have one pen left in the fridge. Exp 11/25, so if I do struggle, I can give myself a helping hand to re-set. Stockpiling was a game changer for me.

I think plenty was still in my system. I certainly did not feel I was back to old habits during my week off.

This is very inspiring and what I’m planning on doing. I’ve got a 7.5mg pen in the fridge and once I’ve lost my last 3lb I’m going to drop to 2.5mg a week and stay with that for a couple of months. After that I’ll decide if I can stop taking it, or if I need to wean off more slowly.
@diian
Why did Med Ex bin you off? I thought they would let you maintain for up to two years?!

diian · 06/07/2025 19:26

@Pepperwaggytail When I went up to 7.5mg, I had bad side effects. I had an upset stomach for days. I did clicks to only took 5mg the following week. I still was struggling with diarrhoea, so I missed a week (I am a teacher, so running to the loo whilst teaching little ones was a nightmare). I then took 3mg to then end of the pen. Because I had not ordered for 8 weeks, they treated me as a new patient and said I no longer qualify for MJ (BMI 25.2). Luckily I still had 1x 7.5mg and 3x 5mg pens in the fridge as I had been ordering every 3 weeks before starting the first 7.5mg pen.

I’m wondering if we need to split the discussion to two threads when this one reaches capacity so that those of us who are losing slowly can still support each other through that part of the journey and rejoin the maintainers when we get to that stage ourselves? What does anyone else think?

Thats really helpful - is the cheapest way of maintenance to do 2.5 mg though clicks from 5mg pens?

diian · 06/07/2025 21:46

Not officially, but I was not going to waste 4 doses.

Don't worry @SaddlebagSal I'm going to be here for all eternity I think! Managed a whole 200g off this week. But as I seemed to magically gain 2kg between Tue and Thu morning I guess I shouldn't really complain. This heat really can do one. I know most people love summer but I'm firmly an 'any other season but' girl. And looking ahead at the forecast this week I feel like crying 😭

i hear you. My scales are firmly resisting me being able to claim a one stone loss, I’m 0.3 lb away from that mini target and have been for 10 days or so. I’m hoping the plateau will break soon. One thing for sure is that I would have given up ages ago without the jabs, so I’m hanging in there and trusting the process.

Im having my annual blood sugar blood test this week, so I have fingers firmly crossed I have an improvement from last years results of “pre-diabetic”. I would have thought a (near) one stone loss would in itself have a positive impact, but given the drug is originally for diabetes I’m hoping I’m back into a normal range now.

QS90 · 06/07/2025 23:21

I lost less than half a lb from June 26th - staying stubbornly at around 190lbs ages, then actually went up to 191lbs on 5th July. But today I'm down again at 188lbs. Pleased to see movement again.

Uninvitedleaf · 07/07/2025 07:32

I’ve had a weekend of lots more food than I would normally plus alcohol which I rarely touch at the moment, weighed myself this morning thinking I’d have put a bit on and I’ve actually lost half a pound over the two days. So that’s my normal loss for the week of around 1.5lb in total.

I’m waiting for DH to get up and hoping he doesn’t have a sore head this morning, he was drinking for about 1.5 people yesterday. His way of being supportive is to quietly swap plates or glasses with me so that when I’m full I can have less without anyone else noticing but we were at a catered event with beer tastings yesterday and he ended up with quite a lot more than he’d usually drink as a result of helping me out!

Ofcoursehesthefkingfarmer · 07/07/2025 09:38

Morning, I completely dropped off this chat in May but I’m back and I’m struggling!!!!

Sw - 12.10
Cw- 10.10
GW- 10

I started on 28th March and I’ve now lost 2st dead and 80cm from my measurements.

I went on holiday in late May on 5mg and had almost a month of just maintenance which I was fine with as I was enjoying myself and it gave me a bit of a peek into maintenance.

I started 7.5mg last Thursday and it has totally wiped me out. I can eat next to nothing, I feel weak and drained. I can remember similar which I went up to 5mg so I’m wondering whether I need to stick with it or come down a bit for next week. I am a surveyor, it’s quite a physical job and dizzy spells are really not ideal when I’m out on site!

WinterOnItsWayOut · 07/07/2025 13:42

@Ofcoursehesthefkingfarmer given you were ‘enjoying yourself’ and not being focussed on food/water is this what you need to do (given that’s what we’ll all need in maintenance) rather than relying on a heavier dose?

I’ve consciously stuck on 2.5mg (and have been lucky that I seem to respond to this) but also been v mindful throughout with that eye to the future and not wanting to rely on higher dosages which may give me the ability to just forget about focus.

apologies if that sounds preachy 😳 but you’ve had a great loss so far on 5mg 👏. With additional SE I think I’d reduce back and see how you go.

Welcome back! 😊 Have you thought about splitting your dose to 3.75 and then 4-5 days later repeating it. This is working well for me. I’ve lost 2.5lb this week, and I’ve never lost that much before, usually is 1lb at the most! Plus hardly any side effects.

ClimbingKilimounjaro · 08/07/2025 07:38

Have decided to go up to 7.5 for the next pen! I think it’s time as my los has slowed significantly and I still have almost 20kg to lose, so think it’s time. I have two more doses in my current pen of 5 which will take me to week 16 - in it for the long haul here!

When you have over 30kg to lose I guess that’s how it goes. I’m feeling really happy with my loss of 15.4kg so far and have gone from squeezing into size 16 jeans to my size 14’s being lose and not form fitting so I think I’ll have to try some 12’s soon!

I have kept all my clothes that aren’t in a state of disrepair over the past 20 years - so have varying clothes from size 8 up to 18. This time I am selling my larger clothes as I shrink out of them in order that there is no ‘just in case’.

I do think part of my large weight gain has been down to the fact that I carry my weight well and even at 99kg was in a size 16 and now at 83kg I am back in size 12 clothes. When I hit 65kg (a healthy BMI at my height) I have no idea what size I’ll be but imagine I will need to refresh the wardrobe significantly.

wk 14 day 5
SW: 13st 7
CW: 11st 7
TL: 28 lbs (2 stone!)
GW: 10st 7lb

morning everyone! I’m just posting quickly to say the scales moved this morning and I finally hit my 2 stone loss!! Yay! I’m also back into my favourite size 12 (very generous sizing!) summer chinos - just in time for a hot day here. I’m also cycling to work in shorts for the first time in a long time!

After a good chat with my husband I’ve moved my goal up to 10st 7. That takes me to around BMI 23. I had wanted to go to 9 st 13lb but he pointed out I’ve never weighed that in my adult life and maybe it’s too far… will see how I feel at 10st 7lb.

Got my weight verification with Oushk today. Have also booked a maintenance call with them but not until the end of September!

have a great day everyone!

RhaenysRocks · 08/07/2025 08:11

Well done all. Just came on to say that the long boots I bought on Vinted that I couldn't do up a few weeks ago now fit 💪💪😁. Loving this. I seem to be doing ok on 5mg so hoping to stay there. I still have a lot to lose if I go by BMI as short but it feels doable.

fox919 · 08/07/2025 08:32

SW - 13st11.8
CW - 11st13.2 (2.5lbs lost this week)
total loss - 1st12.5lbs
GW - 10st
So close to hitting the 2 stone mark. I’ve really slipped the last few weeks though. Still eating significantly less, but not making as many good choices about what I’m eating so need to try and focus on that I think. Was due on my period yesterday so will expect that within the next few days and hopefully will hit 2 stone by the end of this week. Hope everyone has a good week and enjoys the weather.

slowlyshifting · 08/07/2025 11:40

Hi everyone! I have been quietly looking at this thread for inspiration, without commenting. I started my Mounjaro journey on 1st April (at 13stone 1lb, so lower than many) and I have been using/going up the pens each time as recommended, I am now on 10mg. It hasn't been easy! The most I lost, in the early days, was 3lb a week but have mainly been losing 2 lb or 1 lb a week. I have been feeling incredibly tired/unwell to the extent that I avoid having to meet up with anyone for the first few days after having an injection. I would not have been able to continue if I had been working. I have previously lost the weight without medication and without feeling exhausted BUT have very easily managed to put it all back on, once the 'diet' was over. Putting the weight back on afterwards is my biggest concern. I don't want this to sound all negative because I am down to 11 stone 3lb now, which is a few lbs more than my 'usual' weight. I am finding it quite hard to justify the cost and side effects but want to keep on going so that I am no-longer classed as overweight. I am only putting all this information on here, so that others who are not losing massive amounts each week or are feeling a bit 'yuk' realise that they are not alone. 😀

Squiffy01 · 08/07/2025 15:20

I will be very interested to see what weigh day brings on Thursday.

I have eaten a lot more this week. I was getting a bit dizzy and husband had concerns I wasn’t eating enough (I think I was) but have made an effort this week to eat more and I hope it doesn’t bring a gain with it. I know some of you have said when you ate more it actually helped with the weight loss.
