@TashieWoo My main question is about keeping the cost down ie maintaining weight loss on a lower dose. Is it possible to continue losing weight on 2.5 or 5mg?
Absolutely it's doable, plenty of people don't increase above this. I'm on my 8th dose of 2.5mg and have lost steadily (16lb so far but heavier than you at 42 BMI to start). I have a 5mg pen next but will either stay on 2.5 or just increase to 3.75 because whilst I don't experience total appetite suppresion, I'm finding it enough to keep everything in check - my sweet tooth just isn't a problem now. Good luck!

GRCP · 17/05/2025 19:16

@Uninvitedleafi did the same as I couldn’t have bad side effects at work this week. I’m actually tempted to just stay on 2.5!

PinkCatInATree · 17/05/2025 19:22

Went out for dinner this week and offered to drive so no one quibbled about my huge glass of Fevertree and as it has been so warm I made the best choice of a chargrilled chicken salad which at least two others wished they'd chosen too! And I had a teaspoon of my husband's pudding.

wk5 day 4
Happy with my progress and with not blowing it all with a temper tantrum at missing out which is my usual thing!

wordywitch · 17/05/2025 19:25

Is anyone else on 5mg struggling to eat? I’ve had very few SEs but suppression is so strong that I have to force myself to have food. I don’t feel sick and still have energy, it’s just a strange feeling. My blood pressure has been quite low but I don’t feel dizzy or anything so not too worried about it but it’s clearly from low blood sugar.

Squiffy01 · 17/05/2025 19:29

Thanks for the new thread.

I’ve been a lot more nibbly the last two days than normal. Not sure if it’s period related as it is starting and I know a few of you have had that.

I have noticed any different I don’t think going up a dose this week so think I will go back down to 5mg again on Thursday.

I wish I had taken measurements at the start. I still can’t tell one bit that I’ve lost any. Hopeful I will soon.

Knakeredd · 17/05/2025 19:38

I am just about to take my 7th dose (3rd @ 5mg). I am now 11st 9 - have lost 20lb on 6 inj and officially 'overweight' and not 'obese'.

I am worried that I am not eating enough protein and I want to tackle this to prevent muscle loss and the return of hunger when I am done. I am also going back to resistance training on Monday now that I feel v settle on the jabs (the fatigue from the earlt days has gone) - as I dont want to mess up my metabolism.

I have had some shit days where I have only eaten a sausage roll and two kit kats which was easy as no hunger - but that is just setting me up to fail and regain - so focus now is on positive nutrition.

Does the price increase as the dose increases?

WinterOnItsWayOut · 17/05/2025 22:30

W6D1
SW:12.12
TW: 10.12 (2 stone loss)

W1: - 6lb
W2: - 3lb
W3: - 2lb
W4: - 3lb (total 1 stone 💪)
W5: -3lb (total 1 stone 3lbs)
W6: -0lb

Ive stayed on 2.5mg and ok with staying the same yesterday (-1 today) and know it will balance out.

i think im going to order a 5mg pen and stay on 2.5mg unless i stall and then might increase to 3.75mg in the next month if i feel I need to. I’m on holiday for the first week of June and don’t want to create any SE’s which I don’t have now.

QS90 · 18/05/2025 00:01

@Knakeredd Unfortunately the price does seem to increase with the dose on with the suppliers I've seen. On the other hand, you can buy a higher dose, keep it in the fridge and "count the clicks", which will obviously make the pen last longer and keep the cost down.

If you are struggling with protein, I really would recommend a protein shake as it gets the job done. I haven't found any that are particularly tasty, but some are inoffensive. I just drink them down like medicine.

@wordywitch Not really. I find it's easy to only eat 1,200 calories per day. I track what I eat, because I'm a bit nerdy and love data. But also to make sure I've had my "5 a day" as well as enough protein. I do find now, I'm thinking "I've not had much protein, better eat some chicken", rather than eating because I want to iyswim. But it's easy enough to eat, I'm not having to force food down.

I'm more getting now, that I'm trying to eat more, because I feel weak or headachy (rather than hungry). This is despite having at least 1,000 most days. I suppose I'm relatively tall and active. But it feels surprising to be starting to feel less strong, after weeks of feeling better.

Hopefully improving nutrients and macros will turn it around.

SweetChilliGirl · 18/05/2025 08:27

I've just done my end of week 4 weigh in and have lost another 3lb. So that's:

Week 1: 6lb
Week 2: 4lb
Week 3: 2lb
Week 4: 3lb

15lb down, 33lb to go!

I'm sticking with 2.5mg. I'm still getting hungry for meals but have completely cut our snacking and UPFs and am focussing on protein and vegetables first. I'm eating three meals a day.

I'm going to try to extract the fifth dose with a syringe later today.

TheCaloricDecline · 18/05/2025 08:30

Took my 7th dose of 2.5mg on Friday.

I’ve lost 13.6lbs so far. Keep telling myself that it’s all in the right direction as much as I want to just wake up and be at target.

Trying to stay on 2.5mg for as long as possible. I have good suppression but still get hungry, so I am eating well at around 1500 on average per day and getting around 120-140g of protein in. The biggest difference that the jabs are making is at the weekends, normally I’d go off track, think duck it, and then constantly yo-yo the same loss/gain for weeks, have a good week and repeat. Now I am consistent, small losses some weeks but consistent losses. Also, that relief from constantly fighting my body is so great and freeing mentally.

No side effects apart from sometimes feeling a bit tired the couple of days after my jab and will randomly get very cold.

QS90 · 18/05/2025 08:35

@TheCaloricDecline That's an amazing amount of protein! How do you get that all in?

I use shakes from Protein Works. Cooked ham, chicken or tuna are my staples for lunch. Protein yogurts are also my go to, either flavoured or plain. I find if I have a good amount of protein for breakfast and lunch, hitting my target is much easier to achieve.

RhaenysRocks · 18/05/2025 08:48

Quick question on pens ..if I use a 5mg but only do half doses, will it still work for the 5th time onward? I know they lock after 4 doses. I used a syringe to get the golden dose from my first pen but it wasnt great. Is it callibrated for clicks though? So it won't matter if I do 8x 2.5 instead of 4x 5? I'm having a few side effects at 5 so might go back down.

Lundier · 18/05/2025 09:16

Checking in. Not lost any weight - just been in bed seemingly forever with Covid. So retro.

I start my new job very soon and it looks like I will spend the entire interregnum in bed instead of on my planned holiday. 😩Booooo! And the weather is so glorious. I had planned so many lovely walks with friends. Ah well.

My weight has gone up from 12st 2 to 12st 7. I suspect that, based on my observations from last month, I will stay at this weight until after my period and then drop precipitously to around 11st 10. I think I'm basically half way there, if I'm going for my oldest stable weight, which was 62kg for years. I basically weighed ~62kg from 15 - 30, then ~68kg til 35, then I was around 72kg for a good while, and then I went from 72 to 91kg in just a couple of years, at which point I started this! So it feels like those are "set points" to go for. I suspect I will plateau at 72kg so I am going to stay on a low dose until I get there and then consider increasing it.

I find myself astounded that I might really lose 50 pounds by the end of summer. It doesn't make sense to me, somehow, but then neither does having the 50 pounds to lose. It's only very recently that my body has felt that different. It was always squashy and round, to be honest.

Incognitoburrito88 · 18/05/2025 09:35

Hi Everyone,

so I am staying with a friend this weekend - just the two of us and we’re running a 10k later today. We went out for lunch yesterday when I arrived - where there were only two veggie options on the menu so I ended up having a vegan burger and chips. I hadn’t had any breakfast so started eating thought I had no suppression and then half an hour later my friend says ‘are you not going to eat those chips?’ And I realised I’d just stopped eating!!

he had also cooked a lovely dinner with pudding. It was a bit tricky and I ate as much as I could but I couldn’t finish either portion. I also drank some Prosecco while we were watching Eurovision but then hit a point where my body just refused to let me drink more - very odd!!

I went to bed feeling very uncomfortable and my tummy is a bit gurgley this morning… hopefully it settles down for the race. Navigating social situations is definitely going to take a bit of work!

Yes! I’m finding the suppression is very high. I went out for my meal with friends last night and had a glass of white wine (small) with soda and then another glass of wine before we went into eat and I was already stuffed! I had a starter and an appetiser instead of a main meal and ate maybe 2/3 of it. We had another round of drinks because they’d all finished theirs, so I asked for another soda and they “accidentally” bought me another wine and soda and I managed maybe half of that. So I had 2.5 small glasses wine over about 4 hours.
Is any one else finding they don’t seem to feel the alcohol the same? I’m wondering if it’s sloshing around in the stomach and not hitting the bloodstream?
I normally love a glass of wine, but it just tasted vinegary and there’s no “ahhhh”. I think I need to find a drink that is smaller. No way could I manage a pint of beer with a meal nowadays!

I’m doing this. I think there are a max number of clicks per pen so if you do half doses, the pen should work. It’s the extras that don’t.

Do keep it in the fridge though, as you will exceed the 30days.

I think I may actually feel the effects of alcohol more. I was rationalising that the delayed gastric emptying means it sits in your stomach longer but the stomach lining is very permeable so I was thinking more of it would absorbed than normal because the alcohol is sitting in there for longer. I wonder if the loss of the ‘aaaah’ might be because of the dopamine blockage in our brains. It’s a weird one for sure.

fox919 · 18/05/2025 11:40

W6d6, good suppression and no food noise 👍 it’s interesting that most of you seem to get good suppression in the days straight after the jab and it wanes towards the end of the week. I find that I don’t feel much in the days straight after and get stronger suppression a few days later. I wonder why that is 🤔

I had an absolutely manic day yesterday and didn’t manage to eat until dinner. I had a chicken Caesar salad (which was delicious, I’ve been having it quite a lot and really enjoying it!) and towards the end I was really struggling to eat it. It’s weird because it wasn’t that I was too full, it’s more that it felt hard to swallow! Has anyone else had anything like that? It was like my body was saying it had had enough, but not by a feeling of fullness.. it made me want to stop, but because I hadn’t eaten all day I felt like I should eat it all!

SusanSometimes · 18/05/2025 13:46

Note to self: six dried prunes on Friday to release a 'blockage' was too many. Had awful stomach ache yesterday and couldn't eat anything all day 😪 Feeling better today, but lesson learned. If I need to 'unblock' again it'll be two prunes at the most, which is good because I hate the things.

hotshota · 18/05/2025 13:51

Yes I’m W7 D5 - generally find 5 suppression bigger than 2.5 (not surprising though) could go the day without eating much but making sure I take some in

i have found that D3/4 that tiredness ramps up and I spent most of yesterday sleeping and not doing much. Hoping that gets better over the weeks

Keeping to 5 for my next pen as don’t feel I need to move up. Able to fit into some of my old clothes better now - however it’s strange how your mind thinks. I’ve always associated clothing size with how much I would weigh. And I’m able to fit into some clothes now but the weight wasn’t as low as I thought in my head!!

question for everyone though- how much exercise do you do?

NotsosunnyShropshire · 18/05/2025 14:09

I placed an order on Friday for my 2nd 5mg from MedExpress. It’s been prescribed and is awaiting dispatch, but received this email today.
I’m ok as I still have 2 official doses left, but just a heads up to you guys to don’t leave it until the last minute to order.
