I have the worst mental block with the spelling of this medication!! Almost did it wrong again but THINK it's correct now. Obviously 3rd time's the charm!!

Great work / losses / NSVs so far everyone!

That's great! Presumably it's a lb of fat too, as can't be water weight!

I don't mind what it is as long as the scales are going down not up!!

Has anyone else noticed that their dry (watery) eyes have cleared up since taking Mounjaro?
And also GERD is much better? And less swollen (slightly arthritic) knees and generally less achy after exercise?
And just slightly less snotty, wheezy etc?

Im sure this is all down to less inflammation- but is there anything I can take after mounjaro to keep the amount of inflammation in my body reduced?

Now you mention it, my dry eyes are better. I also have much less trouble from arthritis pain and from a chronic muscular pain around my ribs.

Re the GERD, no, I’m getting that occasionally when I wouldn’t have before Mounjaro.

StrikeForever · 03/06/2025 12:55

@Knakeredd the notion of eggs raising cholesterol was debunked several years ago. Eggs are a superfood. High protein and full of important nutrients. Embrace them.

SaddlebagSal · 03/06/2025 14:25

I’m in W10 and I’ve lost 10lb, so nice and consistent in my loss rate. My last jab was my first at 7.5mg, and boy the appetite suppression has been strong - I didn’t have lunch yesterday (I never have breakfast) and I only needed a satsuma late afternoon to see me through to tea time. Still ok on the SE, thirst/dry mouth are the most noticeable.

while my weight loss isn’t as dramatic as some, I’m happy to have a steady progress if it means it keeps going. Only another 3 stone to go until I’m in the “normal” BMI range, which at this rate will take me into next year. It’s taken me 40+ years to get to my biggest, so a year to get to the weight I was as a student isn’t unreasonable in my eyes. I’m now the weight I was when I got married and I fit again into the nice eye wateringly expensive undies I bought around that time. A happy NSV!

I’m digging out all my summer clothes and a lot of them are loose verging on too big to wear. I’m wearing all my favourite stuff now on the basis of if I wait for the right occasion it may not fit at all any more. DH is a bit surprised my WFH outfits have suddenly got a lot smarter. Grin

I certainly have less achy shoulders. Have periodically struggled with a really "hot", sore sort of ache previously. Interestingly (to me at least), the pain in them also cleared up when I did Keto, which can also reduce inflammation. I think for some people, sugar spikes cause a lot of inflammation. Some people swear by the meditation diet for similar anti-inflammatory / anti pain effects, although I haven't tried it myself.

@SaddlebagSal I've been having a similarly cavalier attitude with my clothes (they're mainly cheapy things from Vinted anyway). It's quite freeing!!

Sorry to hear you've had a bad week @fox919 Not sure if this is what you mean, but ovulating quite often makes me feel miserable too. Luckily it only lasts a few days!

I think "staying the same" weight over ovulation, can sometimes point to a loss, as scales show the same figure despite the water retention iyswim.

Either way, hope you have had a better day today x

W10D1 for me, just did the bonus dose from my 5mg pen. I got 0.75ml out which equates to 6.2mg.

I stayed the same weight this week but that happened last time I was at the end of a pen as my body had clearly got used to that dose and it was losing its effectiveness so I’m not worried about it. Starting 7.5mg next week so first couple weeks should see a good drop in weight.

In other news, my daughter (19) is starting MJ today! I talked on here before about my concerns for her weight and health and after telling her about my experience she eventually came to me wanting to know more. We talked about the research and risks, side effects, etc.. and how she’ll have to change her diet and get more exercise. She’s fully on board and is excited to get started. I’m so pleased for her, this is going to do wonders for her confidence and health.

My daughter (age 32) has weight problems and has tried so hard to loose it but to no avail. She went on wegovy (couldn’t go on mounjaro due to contraceptive pill) and is coming uk to week 5. She lost 11 1/2 pounds in her first month and
is absolutely delighted and determined to stay on it. She is so happy. I’m sure your daughter will be too!

Why couldn’t she take MJ while on contraception, is it a contraindication?

Changed providers to oushk as I wanted their maintenance service. The Facebook group is interesting to say the least but customer service is excellent. Still no real SE and remained on 5 as this is working well for me so far!

There is an indication about contraception on both. The alternative on mounjaro is the patch but she is above the maximum weight for the patch. She started taking whatever make of contraception she is in due to period/medical issues many years ago, so she doesn’t want to change that anyway. She spoke to her GP who told her wegovy will be suitable. It’s something to do with how the injections are metabolized and interference with the pill. Not sure if I have got that right, something like that.

her thoughts are to get down to what she needs to be for the patch and change to mounjaro, but she is doing well and acknowledges that wegovy is a bit slower and doesn’t want to change to the patch just Incase she has the medical issues which her stops.

Hope this makes sense!

Well perhaps having a whinge here is what I needed, movement proper on the scales this morning! Also from a non scale victory pov, the trousers I didn’t fit into at the start of my journey are now at the point that I need a belt or they sit so low that they drag on the floor. Belly fat reduction must be huge as I was rather Humpty Dumpty-esque and now appear to be considerably more in proportion!

Took dose 9 today (5mg) a day early as have a meal that I want to enjoy on Saturday and would hate to feel sick/super suppressed as it’s a big birthday for 3 in the family.

Think this is technically w9d1 (actually no idea how to count it) and now 10.9kg down! Still unsure on target weight but would love a BMI of 22-24 to be it, which for me is 60-65kg. Still some way to go, but a third of the way there.

I remember your post about your daughter, that’s a brilliant result as I know you were worried about raising it with her.

Hope she has as much success!

Thank you so much! I really hope she finds a new lease on life through this, she has been a bit ‘stuck’ lately and I think taking charge of her health is going to help her in so many other areas too.

I appreciate all the support I’ve had here as well and am so pleased to see everyone’s updates when I log in 😊

wordywitch · 04/06/2025 17:03

@MissCreative Thanks for clarifying. My DD is on the mini pill but only for her period cramps not as contraception so we weren’t too worried about her starting Mounjaro. When her GP is informed she’s on it they may contact her to discuss it but otherwise she’s happy to stay on both.

I must have jinxed myself saying my next pen was arriving today, it’s been delayed with Royal Mail but at least it’s a Royal Mail thing and not a supply issue

Thanks @QS90just having some personal struggles. Foods not been awful and still eating way less than I would under stress pre mj, I’m just not making as many healthy choices as I was. But as others have said previously, at least I don’t feel like I’ve completely fallen off the wagon like I would have before!

I was daily weighing for a few weeks but I’m trying to stop doing that as I do get disheartened by the fluctuations sometimes (even knowing that they are just normal fluctuations!).

It’s hard not to feel disappointed when you don’t lose isn’t it (or when it feels so slow). And I’m still a stone and a half off of my mini goal of 11st 4 - this was the weight I’d gotten myself down to last summer. Then regained 2.5 stone from about November to April (I suffer with mental health difficulties and end of October was the start of my most recent depressive episode - which is still ongoing unfortunately).

In your post, you mentioned going up to the 7.5mg
pen. May I ask how long you stayed on 5mg? I increased to 5mg last week, had
my second one this morning. Apart from awful constipation, I didn’t have side effects from 2.5 so stayed on that for 2 months. The first 5mg dose last week brought with it extreme tiredness and the most awful headache

I just did the bonus dose from my first 5mg pen and am then moving up to 7.5mg next week, so I was on 5mg for 4 weeks and took 6.25mg today.

5mg definitely gave me way more appetite suppression, a bit of constipation, and I’d usually have a headache and mild nausea the day after taking the jab but nothing too bad. I just made sure that I drank loads of water and rested that day, eating small amounts of protein often.

SausageRoll90 · 04/06/2025 23:41

@Knakeredd I'm a bit late to the reply here but the cholesterol in eggs doesn't really impact your blood cholesterol levels. Slightly yes and with some health conditions you'll be advised to limit but in the vast majority of cases you're fine to consume up to 2 eggs a day without any issue. In comparison the effects of saturated and trans fats.are well known to cause blood cholesterol to rise so these are the ones to avoid/reduce. Plus eggs are a great source of protein (including all essential amino acids), as well as other nutrients like vitamin B12, folate & choline. AND super quick and easy to cook 💛

@Lundier Ohhhh I see has already answered the eggs question 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

@MiamiMimi yes MJ does have a cumalitive effect. I found week 3 on 5mg was horrible but it settled this week. It should settle for you too I'm sure. I'd keep up with the 5mg if you can because your body will settle. I almost delayed my dose as I was feeling so rotten after my 3rd dose on 5mg last week but I took it on Friday as planned and I've been fine this week on my 4th dose of 5mg. The suppression is doing its thing and I definitely feel queasy if I have a richer meal but otherwise I feel good. Last week I had awful stomach pains, nausea, loose bowels, indigestion. I felt dreadful. This week - back to normal 🤷🏻‍♀️

@QS90 the Zava price is with a discount code for your 1st order. It's 25% off. I have a code if you want one - drop me a PM 👍🏻

I'm very behind in my week 7 update. I'm currently W8D5 and taken my 4th dose of 5mg.
As I said above much less SE this week thank goodness but still good suppression etc.

End of Week 7 (5mg)
SW: 16st 9.5lb
CW: 15st 10.5lb
W1 -4lb
W2: -1lb
W3: -1lb
W4: -2lb
W5: -1.5lb🩸
W6: -2.5
W7: -1lb
Loss: -13lb

Pre MJ start weight 17st 2lb so a total loss of 1st 5.5lb (-8.8kg) 🥳

NSV - got a new bra today and went from a 38 band to a 36 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 AND my mom jeans are hanging off me. I don't think a smaller size would be comfortable especially when sitting as they have zero stretch but when I'm walking around they're literally falling down - I never thought I'd get this far, let alone feel so confident I'll get my weight lower.

PinkCatInATree · 05/06/2025 08:08

Big news on Mounjaro and WLI on the news today for people who haven't read the patient information leaflets especially about pregnancy, contraception, and non-medical providers.

SquishyGloopyBum · 05/06/2025 10:37

Week 9 for me and 4lbs off this week 🎉 I’m still on 3.75 and it’s working well.

SW 13st 1lb
CW 11st 6lbs
GW 10st 7lbs

Less than a stone to go now. It’s great fitting back into my old clothes- currently wearing jeans I last wore in 2022!
