I have the worst mental block with the spelling of this medication!! Almost did it wrong again but THINK it's correct now. Obviously 3rd time's the charm!!

Great work / losses / NSVs so far everyone!

Don't beat yourself up @Knakeredd You're undoing probably a lifetime's worth of misinformation / weight gain / conditioning about what foods are "a treat". I think learning to forgive ourselves for when we slip up, is a big part of the process for long term weight loss and health.

If you're looking at the quality of your diet, I'd start with adding some protein, to keep your lean muscle and metabolism up x

I’ve had very good suppression so far this week on 3.5mg (having dropped down from 5mg) but today (day 5 this week) I’m quite hungry! This is such a surprise after days of feeling queasy and no appetite at all. I’m trying to take the opportunity to get some good food down me and just enjoy actually wanting to eat! Most of the time I’m exhausted and a bit lightheaded which I think is down to so little food.
I've one jab to go (Tuesday evening) before my holiday and it will be two weeks before I’m back home to take the next one. I’m interested to see how I get on and if I gain any weight.

StrikeForever · 01/06/2025 16:52

@Pepperwaggytail just curious, what made you decide not to continue whilst you are on holiday?

Knakeredd · 01/06/2025 15:03

I have not had a good week. I mistakenly miss-counted by doses and realised I didnt have one left so it was 6 days late before I reordered. I ate poorly and gained 3lb - thought my appetite had come back in that short window - but it was likely just an excuse to eat in anger with myself for messing up..... but all back on track now and have lost 2 of the 3lb.

I am conscious that I have used this medication to eat poorly throughout - eg 2 bars of choc for 'breakfast' (doing IF so this is at 3pm), then sometimes missing dinner and having glass of wine late at night instead - which I can do as not 'hungry' - all at cal def - but I feel rubbish.

Need to start nourishing myself. Have tried yogurt, seeds and berries for breakfast but dont like the cold. Might move to eggs instead - but worried abiut high cholesterol and blood pressure (on a statin and BP tabs).

I need to embed healthy way of eating whilst it is "easy' on MJ otherwise I will go off a cliff and regain at the end. Atomic habits says its 66 days to embed a habit which is likely when I will hit my goal weight - so I need to get started asap.

You sound like you are being really hard on yourself. Please don’t beat yourself up. Breakfast is tricky. If I don’t want something cold I go for a porridge with chia seeds and almond milk - sometimes add cocoa powder for a chocolate flavour or grated apple and cinnamon. I eat a lot of eggs - I don’t worry about it at all as I think there will be a natural reduction in overall fact with the meds. There are loads of baked oats recipes online too that you could try. I do agree with need to build healthy habits while we’re on the medication but so far you’ve just been settling in to the drug - there’s still time to overhaul your diet.

Ofcoursehesthefkingfarmer · 01/06/2025 20:50

Jumping back on after a week away abroad, only 1lb on, I’ve eaten quite well and exercised but drank too much wine and a few too many stodgy white carbs.

Anyway, I had left it 9 days between doses so I’m just slightly out of sync now.

Ordered another 5mg pen but wondering whether I should actually think about going up, has anyone done the jump yet? I’m on pen3 and still getting on quite well with the 5mg but medexpress recommended I go up a dose?

saxonyv · 02/06/2025 06:48

Knakeredd · 01/06/2025 15:17

That sounds good - have just bought some Rye bread today. I am getting cross with myself for abusing this opportunity.

Aldi and warburtons do protein seeded bagel thins, those with a bit of peanut butter/scrambled egg are really nice.

sorry if I’m being a bit thick but are eggs a no go for cholesterol? I thought it was ok if they were a good fat and not in excess?

Lundier · 02/06/2025 06:58

@saxonyv It used to be advised not to eat eggs because they contain cholesterol. More recent long term studies have shown eating cholesterol doesn't raise cholesterol (your body makes cholesterol in a different way) https://www.health.harvard.edu/heart-health/are-eggs-risky-for-heart-health

But there is one genetic condition, called Familial Hypercholesterolaemia, where people are still advised not to eat eggs. https://www.bhf.org.uk/informationsupport/conditions/familial-hypercholesterolaemia

If you don't have that, you're fine! Eggs are very good for you.

eggs-heart-health

Are eggs risky for heart health? - Harvard Health

Large studies have not found evidence of higher rates of heart attacks, strokes, or other cardiovascular diseases in people who eat up to one egg per day....

WinterOnItsWayOut · 02/06/2025 13:41

@saxonyvi eat loads of eggs and my cholesterol levels are really good. They are the perfect food in natural packaging IMO!

SeaDippingandLattes · 02/06/2025 18:19

Hi all
2 pounds down this week 🙌
I’ve gone up from 3.75 to 4mg now (wild times). If this goes ok will try 5 on my next pen. Agree with those talking about learning to nourish yourself. It’s definitely a learning curve for me.
SW 16.1
CW 14.7
cant wait to go into the overweight category on my BMI (hopefully will just be a ‘bit fat’ by this time next month) 😂
hope everyone has a good week x

ClimbingKilimounjaro · 02/06/2025 23:16

Getting a bit frustrated here as have maintained for 2 weeks now. Really loathed to go up another dose but maybe I’ll have to.

Currently on 5mg and feeling a bit more hungry but sticking to 1350kcal and 120g protein and it is just totally plateauing.

Will have to see what this week brings! Got four more doses of 5mg in the pens, potentially five with the golden dose so who knows what might happen.

QS90 · 02/06/2025 23:39

Just did my first injection with my 7.5mg pen. Counted the clicks to 40, to get 5mg dose. Still having good suppression on 5mg, and don't want to suppress appetite any more, as don't want to end up run down again.

Not weighing this week, as am due on (again!) and feel like a water balloon. Don't want to depress myself by seeing my weight go "up", even though I know it's a false reflection of what's going on. Will relish looking at the scales when it's all done, to hopefully see a bigger drop.

OP posts:
QS90 · 02/06/2025 23:43

Hate to be that person @ClimbingKilimounjaro but two weeks isn't a plateau! I only know because I was searching "calorie deficit but no weight loss"!!! and variations of it, a few weeks ago when I had similar. I just kept going with what I was doing, and one day the scales started going down again, no rhyme or reason 🤷‍♀️ It is frustrating when it happens though x

Another egg supporter here @saxonyv !!

My BIL and sister are both infuriatingly gorgeous, slim, healthy, perfect cholesterol, blood sugars etc etc, and they swear by eggs. Their breakfasts remind me of that scene in beauty and the beast, where Gaston is singing about how many eggs he eats / has eaten over the course of his life, and lifting heavy objects, to applause from the villagers...

OP posts:
ClimbingKilimounjaro · 02/06/2025 23:50

I will have to research this myself @QS90. I weigh daily at the same time unclothed etc because stats are my thing and despite a very consistent downward trend for the first 6/7 weeks for nearly 3 weeks now there has been less than 0.5kg of variation on any day. I’m definitely describing it as a plateau as my weight is absolutely static each and every day.

Historically with any weight loss method journey I have been on prior to WLI my weight loss has always stopped here and sometimes never gone any further down but I still have 20kg to lose so it certainly feels frustrating. I do also have Crohn’s Disease so aware my body reacts differently than others to gut related stuff.

Edited

I’m away with people who don’t know I’m taking it including my son. I keep it in the fridge, so it wouldn’t be easy to
hide away, plus I’ve read that you can’t put it in the hold in the plane. So all in all, and I’ve debated this with myself a lot the past few weeks, I’ve decided to go without and see how I get on.
Plus I’d like a break from feeling queasy and exhausted on my holiday. I’ll only be a week without any in my system and it will be interesting to see if the beer and ice cream start calling to me! 😊

Yeah same here with the bloat and time of the month but weighed anyway and still lost a pound which is a miracle given how swollen my belly currently is...

Pepperwaggytail · 03/06/2025 08:02

Has anyone else noticed that their dry (watery) eyes have cleared up since taking Mounjaro?
And also GERD is much better? And less swollen (slightly arthritic) knees and generally less achy after exercise?
And just slightly less snotty, wheezy etc?

Im sure this is all down to less inflammation- but is there anything I can take after mounjaro to keep the amount of inflammation in my body reduced?

MiamiMimi · 03/06/2025 08:14

Feeling rough today, I took my 3rd dose of 5mg on Sunday, felt slightly nauseous and tired after my second dose but feel SO sick after this one ☹️ I don’t understand why I’d be fine after the first but feel so rough after the 3rd?!
does mounjaro have an accumulative affect? I think I’ll need to go down to 3.75 for the next dose as I can’t be feeling like this.

Lundier · 03/06/2025 08:22

Yep I've not lost any weight this week and barely any last week. Still on 76. But weirdly I have now dropped a size and can get into some of my size 14 clothes. Not my "thin" clothes, but my Covid era clothes, including a really brilliant pair of jeans I have missed. 👖😍

I decided my scales were wrong, which they probably are, so I went around my house with a spirit level trying to find a level surface but there just isn't one. My little house is hundreds of years old and crooked and there's no help for it. It's on the wonk! So I'm staying with the consistent wrong measurement I had before.

My family keep demanding I go outside because I went a bit blind from coding too much and had to go to the emergency opthamologist last week. But I'm ok. But consequently I've been walking a lot. Work involves a lot of propositional logic and linear algebra atm, and it's challenging, so I'm walking up hills and then making assertions and falsifications emphatically to the nearest sheep. They are not as helpful an interlocutor as an LLM, frankly. 🐑

Lundier · 03/06/2025 08:45

@MiamiMimi it must accumulate because the half life is 5 days. This means the amount halves every five days, or that it takes around 30 days to completely break down. Consider your dose as 100%:

Day 1: 100%
Day 5: 50%
Day 7: 29.7% PLUS 100% of your new dose = 129.7%

So say if you've done 4 weeks of 2.5 and 3 weeks of 5, the amount in your body on that third dose is more like, er, ~7.8mg? (I haven't computed that so don't quote me)

Thank you that’s really helpful! And definitely a decider to go for 3.75 for the next dose.

QS90 · 03/06/2025 09:22

@MiamiMimi I found yesterday my suppression had worn off and I had quite a greedy dinner thinking "One meal doesn't matter, I'll jab tonight and start fresh tomorrow". Well, I feel grim today. I guess I'm still carrying around yesterday's gnocchi, but because the medication built up in my blood overnight, my stomach is now in a panic, asking "WHY HAVE YOU EATEN SIX MEALS WORTH OF WHEAT AND POTATO". So my SE are much worse, because of that one bad meal. Definitely there's a cumulative effect from more doses, but is there perhaps something else you've done differently too?

That's great! Presumably it's a lb of fat too, as can't be water weight!

Have you read about set points? This is definitely a thing for me. A few weeks ago I spent 10 days at the 12st 7 mark which was a weight I had previously been for a long time before my recent bout of stress eating caused me to pile on a bit extra. I got very frustrated as I was sure I was in a deficit and exercising. I did actually notice myself looking slimmer and the fit of my clothes changing during that time though. I didn’t change anything and the scales started moving again. I know 10 days isn’t as long as nearly 3 wks but I do understand a bit how frustrating it is. Personally, I think if you are definitely in a deficit then I would just keep everything the same and your body will eventually give in and you will get a whoosh…

I’m expecting another stall for me at around the 11st 7 mark (if I ever get there) as this is a weight my body has historically liked to be!

fox919 · 03/06/2025 11:11

W9d1, just done 4th 5mg. Had a crappy week (in general, and healthy eating wise) and scales have pretty much stayed the same. Also ovulated this week though and had the same last month during ovulation week.

SW - 13st11.8
CW - 12st9.8
GW- 10st
total loss so far 1st2lbs

Hope everyone is doing okay
