I have the worst mental block with the spelling of this medication!! Almost did it wrong again but THINK it's correct now. Obviously 3rd time's the charm!!

Great work / losses / NSVs so far everyone!

@Incognitoburrito88I’m on serious iron tablets so have to watch the constipation 😫. Along with lots of leafy greens I have 4-5 soft dried apricots a day and that seems to be working!

Have you tried "Active Iron"? I've started taking it again recently, as have been feeling run down. But was recommended to me by a midwife when I was anaemic in my pregnancy, and I really do rate it.

Also, if you're not doing already, might be worth looking at taking it alternate days. I read that if you take Iron every day, your body stops being able to absorb it so well.

It's rubbish being low in Iron!

I have noticed a difference between stomach and thigh, better suppression with stomach but more side effects 😬.

There cannot be a difference. The medication is injected into subcutaneous fat, somewhere in your body. The way you respond to it is the same no matter where you inject the MJ.

After all, diabetics inject insulin all over the place, as they often have to do so four times a day. It's absorbed in the same way no matter where the needle is placed.

There’s loads of information on you tube about this if you are interested about how it’s released into the body at different rates.

Does anyone else experience a side effect lottery each time they inject?! I had some mild nausea with my first 2 jabs of 2.5mg (within a day), then nothing. First 2 jabs of 5mg I was fine, 3rd jab more or less knocked me out for a day I injected and I had to have a mega nap, then was fine. Fourth jab of 5mg and it was sulphur burps, bloating, runny poo and a vomit (day 2). Feeling ok today - I can hardly wait for what the next jab brings 🤣

StrikeForever · 31/05/2025 14:49

@SquishyQuokka I had a headache for a couple of days and was tired after my first two 2.5 doses, then I was fine. Even when I took 3.75 for my forth dose. I have also been fine after the first two doses of 5, but took my third dose yesterday, had a splitting headache this morning (thankfully it’s settled now) and I feel a bit wiped out today 🤷‍♀️

Yep. Been really lucky so far - no real side effects other than a bit of heartburn and mild nausea when I went up to 5mg. However... this week (week 10) the infamous sulphur burps have arrived. OMG! They arrived on the back of a Chinese which I can only assume is now fermenting somewhere in my gut. One week on and it's still repeating on me. I only had half a portion too!

PinkCatInATree · 31/05/2025 18:07

You probably already know this but taking iron tablets with OJ helps with absorption

Yup, someone kindly posted a few days ago about how each dose has a cumulative effect (if I remember correctly) which is why a lot of us are seeming to suddenly have lots of dude effects. But yes slightly different ones each week! 😵‍💫

12st 1 this morning!! The 11 stone bracket is tantalisingly close!! Unless I drop another pound overnight (seems unlikely) I will have lost 7lb in May - I guess that’s ok - maybe I was secretly hoping to drop a stone a month like people on social media but I recognise that’s too fast and my current rate means nobody is asking questions…. If someone had said I could pay £130 to lose half a stone I’d have bitten their hand off!

My period started today and I can’t believe I didn’t realise that my increased urge to eat was PMT! Hopefully now it’s here I’ll have a smooth week and be into the 11’s soon.

Squiffy01 · 01/06/2025 08:13

I will be very lucky to stay the same this week but I am expecting a gain.
The thing that will be good though is this 4 days in Rome won’t send me off the wagon for months.

Im not sure why we bother going away for anything that isn’t completely child related it is such hard work and mostly miserable. The food has been yummy though. I have noticed no different dropping back down to 5mg so will definitely stay there for awhile.
I had some yummy ravioli yesterday for lunch was so full for the rest of the day I didn’t eat anything more.
A few slices of delicious pizza the first night 🤤
I have been wasting gelato a bit as they don’t seem to do small scoops. When you ask for the smallest size and emphasise small it is still so big! So haven’t been able to finish them.

I have not been to Rome in 17 years. I was not expecting it to be this busy. Can barely move with all the people.

hope everyone is plodding along well and those with school age children have survived half term.

saxonyv · 01/06/2025 08:38

Hi all, great losses all round it looks like (I’ve just skim read, will read properly shortly)
just back from an all inclusive holiday, I’ve put on weight but only 2lbs, im happy with that as the food was very carb heavy.
Also injected in my arm before I left but feel like the suppression was rubbish, think I’ll go back to my stomach

Mounjarogirl25 · 01/06/2025 09:26

Weigh in this morning and 3lb loss which officially takes me to my first mini goal of 2 stone loss (exactly) and lightest I have been for 4 years (1lb under my booking in weight when pregnant) yay!

In 8lb time I will have lost the same weight as what my (heavy) toddler weighs, puts it all into perspective really!

Next mini goal is an NSV and to get comfortably into size 16 clothes.

10th jab was last night, my first 5mg. I did 5 weeks of 2.5 and 4 weeks of 3.75, the last few days I have been much hungrier so definitely time to move up. Went to a bbq yesterday and although proten heavy, I didn't make the most nutritious choices so was beating myself up a bit but when I added up the calories they were fine so have decided to be kinder to myself.

RhaenysRocks · 01/06/2025 09:28

@Squiffy01 I love Rome but I do know what you mean about crowds. I'm a teacher so can only ever go in the school holidays. Re the wasted gelato..just see it as a triumph that you didn't finish it, didn't even want to. I was in the Lakes for a few days and when I got back I wrote down what I didn't have that I would have had pre MJ. Over two nights I would have had probably a bottle of wine, another 2/3 g&ts, starters and mains involving breadcrumbs, mash or chips, cake with coffee, a pudding after dinner, some fudge when in town...instead I had a couple of G&Ts, one pint, no starters, half a danish with coffee, shared a cheeseboard one night, mains were steak and salad and prawns with a side salad. And the best thing was I didn't feel deprived or like I was being good or spoiling the trip. It's how I wanted to eat. This morning I'm having watermelon, strawberry and pineapple for breakfast because that's what I want, I'm not mourning the cinnamon swirls in the freezer that my dd will have later.

I've also now cracked the bonus dose having finally got the right size needles! Have a good day everyone.

Uninvitedleaf · 01/06/2025 09:29

I’ve moved up to 5mg today, haven’t lost anything this week but I am not upset with that. I’ve just been on a work trip which makes it hard to eat consistently sensibly so just maintaining is a good thing at this point. I could tell I needed to up my dose as well because I’ve definitely got more cravings for snacks but wanted to do it on a week where I can manage side effects if necessary. This is almost certainly the point where I’d have got fed up and given in on previous diets so also feels great that I feel I’m just shrugging my shoulders and carrying on!

Down 10lb in total in 7 weeks, I’m back in the office next week and will be with people who haven’t seen me since I started. Will be interested to see if anyone comments (they are the types to do so!) as I don’t feel it’s that noticeable yet.

RhaenysRocks · 01/06/2025 09:31

@Uninvitedleaf well done..slow and steady is good. I've lost just over a stone now and had quite a few people mention it. I've also got back into some clothes I'd relegated to the back of the wardrobe so yay.

Doidontimmm · 01/06/2025 10:27

Week 10 and stayed the same. Still on 3.75 but no suppression this week and a craving for chocolate. Weird period too as in perimenopause and was heavy & unexpected.

Off on holiday today for a week so will be how I fare. Not planning on counting calories & just enjoying myself.

Maybe it's slightly slower because you're not so big, if you're close to the 11 stone bracket(!!!). You must be getting close to a healthy BMI?

You are so right @RhaenysRocks with regards to not feeling like you're missing out. Makes such a difference not just to weight loss, but to not feeling bloody miserable whilst you're doing it.

@QS90

I’ve still got a surprisingly long way to go… 11 st 5 is the top end of my bmi range. I was only just over BMI 30 when we started so I do appreciate I won’t have as long a journey as some. I’d like to get down to 9 st 13 which is what I weighed on my wedding day… not sure that’s reasonable though 10st 7 was my weight in my 20’s pre children so I’d probably be happy with that. Maintenance will be the problem for me - I’ve lost weight before and it always creeps on again… I have some very unhealthy emotional eating habits which I need to deal with before I stop MJ.

NotsosunnyShropshire · 01/06/2025 13:17

I have the bonus dose to take on Thursday from my first 5mg pen. I have my second 5mg pen in the fridge ready to go. I can order my next pen now. How many of you have gone up to 7.5mg? How are the side effects in comparison to the 5mg?
I’ve got a couple of weeks to decide, but like having a little ‘stockpile’ (ie a spare) incase of distribution problems.

PhantomErik · 01/06/2025 13:28

Wk10 starts today & I've lost 1lb this week. Slowly but surely getting there!

SW 16.6
CW 15.1

NSV I've lost 5 inches from my waist 🙂 & my old swimming costume now fits!

I occasionally feel disheartened about how far I've got to go but am putting it out of my head as much as possible. I feel better in myself & a lot calmer in my head.

We're mid kitchen renovation so the house is pretty chaotic, messy & dusty & I'm about to lose most of my appliances for the next 6 weeks. I'll be relying on microwave, air fryer, toaster & kettle with a camping stove when desperate! It's making food tricky to manage (for me & for feeding everyone- 3 teenagers & DH) so might start making a vague meal plan. I love a list!

Knakeredd · 01/06/2025 15:03

I have not had a good week. I mistakenly miss-counted by doses and realised I didnt have one left so it was 6 days late before I reordered. I ate poorly and gained 3lb - thought my appetite had come back in that short window - but it was likely just an excuse to eat in anger with myself for messing up..... but all back on track now and have lost 2 of the 3lb.

I am conscious that I have used this medication to eat poorly throughout - eg 2 bars of choc for 'breakfast' (doing IF so this is at 3pm), then sometimes missing dinner and having glass of wine late at night instead - which I can do as not 'hungry' - all at cal def - but I feel rubbish.

Need to start nourishing myself. Have tried yogurt, seeds and berries for breakfast but dont like the cold. Might move to eggs instead - but worried abiut high cholesterol and blood pressure (on a statin and BP tabs).

I need to embed healthy way of eating whilst it is "easy' on MJ otherwise I will go off a cliff and regain at the end. Atomic habits says its 66 days to embed a habit which is likely when I will hit my goal weight - so I need to get started asap.

RhaenysRocks · 01/06/2025 15:08

@Knakeredd how do you feel about toast? Warburton's do a no added sugar wholemeal loaf ..a slice or two of that with decent peanut butter (Lidl do one that's cheap and just 100% peanuts) is a good option for me when I'm not feeling the yoghurt / berries / smoothie option.

That sounds good - have just bought some Rye bread today. I am getting cross with myself for abusing this opportunity.
