New thread for all of us.
Thank you for allowing me to rant, share our ups and downs. Our group blows my mind of how we are so supportive of each other.

Some of us are now hitting the 12 week mark, some of us are nearly at their goal, some halfway and some still have a way to go, but we are all losing even if it’s half a pound a week. We have all come so far and are making a difference to our health.

@ShineyGreen ibhabe had exceptionally bad snoring for the last five years, waking me uk through the night. This went within days of stating Mounjaro - so not related to weight loss. I believe that it is to do with reduced inflammation. Whether this is down to the drug itself or the changes in diet (I'm mildly lactose intolerant and went off dairy and I largely stopped eating gluten) I don't know. But the differences have been marked. Also my joints don't ache.

LilyLondon · 20/05/2025 14:48

@Flamethrowers@ShineyGreen@TheBossOfMe I’m autistic and have always suffered with very poor interoception, I could go all day on two cups of coffee and no other fluids. The weirdest effect of Wegovy has been in that for the first time in my life I’m actually feeling thirsty and drink 2l of water daily. Now I frequently feel thirsty+snackish at the same time, and water resolves both feelings. I used to snack HARD and probably got half or more of my daily calories from that.

TheBossOfMe · 20/05/2025 14:56

@Flamethrowers @ShineyGreen Same here re snoring - DP says I stopped snoring within 2-3 days of starting MJ, so almost definitely related to less inflammation.

@LilyLondon I think a lot of people mistake thirst signals for hunger signals, it's really common. One thing I've been trying to do is drink regularly through the day from my bottle, but have a "double helping" of water about 30 mins before I'm due to eat. That's really helped both with keeping my digestion decent, but also not feeling ravenous when I sit down to eat and not overfilling my plate. If I'm too hungry (and I'm still getting hungry on MJ), I tend to bolt my food and then get really annoyed with myself when I feel overfull.

I don’t think the snoring is due to inflammation I think it is due to either an ingredient in MJ or how it works. I stopped snoring day 1 (before any inflammation would reduce) and I’m born snoring (same with DS2) due to narrow airways. MJ has somehow opened my airways properly and can also breath normally through nose first time in my life. They doing a study on MJ and sleep apnea

I also very reduced hayfever (only some on jab day ) this year

I eat quite a bit of dairy but don’t drink milk (which is not new)

Flamethrowers · 20/05/2025 16:00

I believe that there is sleep apnea research into both how it reduces inflammation (So less mucus and congestion in airways leading to clearer passages and breathing) and also how it might affect muscle and nerves, improving tone and therefore congestion. (I have a deviated septum and it's the blocked nose that stopped for me - I can now breathe through my nose!

Apprenante · 20/05/2025 16:12

I generally have pain in ny knee but it has more or less disappeared since starting MJ. I assume that's due to a reduction in inflammation. (Or a coincidence?)

Flamethrowers · 20/05/2025 16:12

I also just googled research into wl medications and anti inflammatory properties (eg joint pain/ osteoarthritis) and quite a few came up. I don't have the motivation (or scientific nous) to effectively précis them!

I'm a two cups a day person as well @LilyLondon! Gaah. Also makes sense of my lifelong migraines...

I have been making more effort to drink water but often only remember when the children are in bed and end up drinking a litre at 9pm = getting up twice in the night for a wee (my sleeping brain notices I need a wee but not when I'm awake- more gaah!)

Just off to down a litre now, thanks for the reminder everyone :)

needtolose70lb · 20/05/2025 18:27

Checking in! Good to catch up with everyone’s posts and that photo of the 5lb is both repulsive and weirdly fascinating.

im sorry some of you are suffering so much with side effects. I hope they improve.

i have just taken delivery of my first 10mg pen
and will take that on Thursday night which will be the 12 week mark.

I’ve just stuck to going up every 4 weeks because I haven’t had terrible side effects (very lucky) and am a bit afraid of messing with the system 😂 My plan then has me staying on 10 for 4 pens before a full review.

I don’t have lots of suppression either and I’m quite glad about that because it feels more realistic. I am definitely happy to stop eating much earlier than I ever have and don’t have the awful sweet and wine cravings which is still a revelation. I am having the odd glass of wine but don’t need to finish the bottle (and open another.)

I do have PCOS and I read something about the side effects being less when the drug is working on an area that’s never been activated properly before in a previous diet. So insulin resistance, for example.

ok. Stats.
sw: 17st 4lb (27 feb)
cw: 14st 4.6lb
tw: was 12st 4lb which is v top of healthy bmi so ideally half a stone lower than that. But happy to see if I can get anywhere near the target before lowering it.

i seem to have settled in to a daily weighing pattern and having 2-3 days of loss, a day gain, a better loss and then maybe 2/3 days of maintaining. I’m now averaging 1-2.5lb a week which in am very happy about.

if I stick to the same weight for more than 3 days then I eat a plate of pasta then poo the next morning and drop with a whoosh!

in fact I’m making a point of eating pasta, rice etc at least once a day and I think it’s helped me both psychologically and physically. It’s a much more realistic way of eating for me than just low carb that I did before and then fell off the wagon big time. Keeping carbs in my diet but limiting to one or 2 meals a day only is a good balance for me. Sticking inside the calorie deficit is just the key and my is letting me control portion sizes without feeling like I’m missing out.

My face is definitely looking less chipmunk-like for the first time in years but the turkey neck has settled in.

apron belly still here, of course, but waist has lost a good few inches. I have a huge belly, very disproportionate to the rest of me, so I think if you look at me from the front or back then you can telll I’ve lost weight but my profile still shows very big belly and several chins 😝 A long way to go.

My next mini goals:
get below 200lb
get below 90kg
get below 14st 2 (how heavy I was at full-term preggo with my first child which is a horrifying thought)
get below 14st and in to the 13s
get below 13st 12lb which is the lowest I’ve been at any point in the last 10 years

good luck everyone!

TheBossOfMe · 20/05/2025 19:31

@ShineyGreen Now that you mention it, my brain has zero issue registering that I need a wee in the night but doesn't register it at all until I'm absolutely bursting during the day. I've slightly solved that problem with daily alarms that go off 4 times a day to remind me to drink water earlier and go to the loo, along with the bottle visual reminder, but how bonkers is it that I need that? I think I have so many other thoughts crowding my mind that really basic bodily function cues get drowned out. I've ended up on a drip before because of dehydration. Ridiculous.

Whereissummer24 · 20/05/2025 19:42

Just checking in - so interesting on the inflammation. My plantar fasciitis went within a few weeks, it’s a godsend.

TheBossOfMe · 20/05/2025 19:49

@needtolose70lb That is amazing progress in every way, well done! I drink my carbs so definitely not low carbing here. Will tackle that problem soon - it's not terrible but I'm doing about 20 units a week even on MJ, which isn't great. They rack up fast if you're out a lot like me. And having small amounts of actual food carbs as well - like you, I don't want to super restrict and then crave.

Also have apron belly even at this BMI. If you look at me front on, I look great. Not so much sideways, even after a lot of reduction in waist measurement. Chins are down to one extra one though.

@Whereissummer24 My PF also totally disappeared!

I have had long covid (part of my weight gain) and inflammation of joints and a lot of pain. It has almost all gone - and it’s definitely not just the weight loss.
I’ve also got potential small blood clots, had a few hospital stays but nothing concrete. I’ve read about mounjaro helping with that too.

I am fighting the low mood daily though.

LilyLondon · 20/05/2025 20:35

@Yetanotherusername2000I’m so sorry you’re battling with low mood :( I’ve had the same for several weeks at the beginning, I was feeling quite hopeless, nothing made me engaged, and very irritable too. It did resolve for me around week 8 though, just around the time I started thinking maybe I’d have to come off the WLI.

Fatigue and lightheadedness didn’t improve at all though :| although it’s the lesser evil all things considered

Thank you. It does help so much to read other people’s stories. Let’s hope it lifts soon then!

Flamethrowers · 20/05/2025 20:58

Oushk say there is a national shortage of 2.5mg. I went to Asda instead who approved my injection after asking for more photos. I am very glad they approved the injection but there is a little bit of me thst would have appreciated a message saying "I'm so sorry - we can't give you another dose - those pictures! - you're far too thin and svelte now".

Lolliz87 · 20/05/2025 21:35

So the 4 pound gain from holiday was down to 2 pound gain this morning hoping by tomorrow it’s gone or reduced again. As predicted didn’t have to have prune juice as the antibiotics have done the job 😆. No laughing matter that I’ve got a gurgle tummy and cramps tonight though 🥹

yikesanotherbooboo · 20/05/2025 22:30

What a lot of interesting perspectives have built up above.
I am going to carry on increasing dose so will be on 10 mg from my next injection. I haven’t had any negative side effects but am aware of suppression on 7.5 which I hadn’t really had before.
SW 84 kg
CW 73.8 kg
GW in the 60s .
my bmi is 28 now and I would like it to be in the normal range.
I am having a small lunch and a fairly normal evening meal currently because when o come off the injections I want to continue to enjoy a family meal.

RuthEvershedforPM · 21/05/2025 07:58

@Flamethrowers inspired by you I asked chat gpt to guess my age. It was disappointingly accurate and didn’t appreciate my signature red lipstick. Ah well. It also the used up some of my free searches so I had to write a report for work all by myself, raging 😂😂

RuthEvershedforPM · 21/05/2025 08:01

In other news 12.9 kg down which is 45% of my target 🎯. On holiday next week so hoping to at least not gain

soupforbrains · 21/05/2025 09:07

I missed such a lot of good discussion yesterday! I won’t reopen most of the topics but I will do this one.

I have ADHD and mounjaro has completely transformed my brain. To the extent that for the first few weeks I was really alarmed.

I have a huge amount of ‘noise’ in my head. There’s a permanently playing soundtrack of music with part of my brain singing along, I’m always planning my next meal/snack, reading, listening to the radio AND working on at least one piece of work at the same time. (Unless I am in HF which is very very different).

MJ has not only stopped the food noise but the vast majority of my ‘other noise’. I’m so used to having such busy-ness and loudness in my head that the quiet was initially really alarming to me. It’s not that I hear voices, it’s more that I hear my own thoughts in my own voice and there are usually like… 10-15 tracks playing all at once. But starting MJ silenced almost all of this. In the first couple of weeks I actually felt almost lonely in my own head because I was so used to the hubbub and hustle inside my brain that without it something felt wrong. However, I’ve become more used to it now and although it took me some retraining and changes in pattern/routine ive found myself to be so much more productive in work and my personal life. I have also been sleeping better.

I spoke to my cousin about this (she completed her weight loss journey on MJ last year) and she has experienced the same. In fact, the adhd improvements for her are the main reason she is staying on a maintenance dose.

@RuthEvershedforPM I'm so sorry about your report.
Next time use really really flattering light and your best photograph and dazzle chat with artifice. I'm definitely not above this. Chat also knocks years off if you smile!
My friend told me she got chat gpt to write a HR allocation report and it did it brilliantly - by making up members of staff!

That's a remarkable difference.
I was thinking that reduction in snoring is the
main reason I'd stay on Mounjaro longer
Re adhd - I'm not more productive as I reply on intense bursts of focus to Jolt me forward.

Amjam2025 · 21/05/2025 10:08

Good Morning MJ family!
I didn't weigh in yesterday as I felt so rough after the night before....I did sleep much better last night, no awful stomach pains thank god (got very mild cramps this morning but nothing compared to Tuesday night!) Tried the probiotic yoghurt and kefir and they seem to be doing the trick - thanks for the advice!

SW - 10st 10lb
CW - 9 st 1 lb
TW - 8 st 11 for now
3lb loss this week and BMI is finally just under 25 which i'm over the moon about.

Really dont want to give up on MJ because im loving losing this weight, however the negative SE have been unbearable the past few days so i think I'm going to stick with my plan...

Skip this Thursday's dose, go on holiday to Spain and really enjoy the food and drink with my family. I will be away the following Thursday and not taking my pen so will skip that dose too. Due to the length of the break I am taking from MJ I am going to start again on Thursday 5th June but on 2.5mg and see how I get on - if anyone else has done something similar, I would love to hear how you got on!

I'm hoping the break will give my gut time to settle and re-set itself, then I can start again and build slowly (and avoid manky yoghurts) I know i'm going to gain weight while im away, and i'm OK with that. I really want to enjoy myself! But i'm hoping for no more then 4lb on! My next weight in will be Sunday 1st June!

TheBossOfMe · 21/05/2025 10:18

@soupforbrains That sounds like an amazing difference.

@Amjam2025 Glad the kefir is helping - I drink loads of it! And I think your holiday plan is really sensible. Spain is a wonderful foodie country, would be a shame if you had SEs from MJ whilst away, I'd definitely be skipping the doses and restarting again in your shoes.

I'm so cold I'm working with a winter coat on 😂
