Just starting up a new thread!

Another 1.5lb off despite being on my period, meaning I'm only half a lb off of 4st loss. Also somehow missed that I've lost more than 20% of my start weight woooo! Still finding 7.5 is working well for me. Like others my belly doesn't really seem to be shifting very fast although I can feel the weightloss elsewhere. I've lost 7 inches total so an inch per month.

SW: 273lb
CW: 217.5lb
Total loss: 55.5lb

I’m still hovering around 74-75kg, where I’ve been for a few weeks. It’s BMI 25 so an ok place to hover, but I’m hoping to see 73.6 (30kg lost) before I consider myself in maintenance. The lowest I’ve seen in 74.05. I think this is a set point for me because I was this weight for some years in my teens and early twenties. But above all we have lots of summer stuff going on at the moment and I’m eating much more normally and drinking some alcohol so not losing. Trying to figure out what a healthy, enjoyable maintenance diet looks like for me. Then would like to creep down another kilo or two.

JunoRoma · 10/07/2025 11:51

@OrangeDonald 🥳 for the 75kg!

I have several meals out booked in the next couple of weeks (milestone celebrations and reunions), then going on holiday (camping - I will not be taking scales).

I will be aiming to eat foods that are good for my body, and to stop eating at the point of satiety. However, I will not be food tracking the meals out or while I'm away.

I think that non-obese / healthy weight people have times when they eat more and temporarily gain a small amount, which they then lose (by eating more carefully and/or doing more cardio). I would like to be able to do that and not panic at the first tiny gain, worrying that it will all go back on again.

I have a maintenance call booked with the pharmacy the day after I get back from holiday, so hopefully that will inspire some moderation while I'm away.

Well so far it hasn't gone that well.

Over a long weekend away (including two family celebrations and a day out) I did make some healthy choices (minimal alcohol, ate plenty of fresh fruit and veg) but I also ate:
Four cheese pizza
Passion fruit cheesecake
Rocky road
Tiramisu
Fried gnocchi
Chocolate brownie
Bailey's hot chocolate

The only saving grace is that I remembered to stop eating at the point of satiety (pre-Mounjaro I would have kept going).

I've put on 1kg and am just thankful it wasn't more.

I have two more meals out next weekend, and then we're going on holiday.

There must be some middle ground between my home eating habits (1200-1400kcal per day, prioritising protein and fibre) and my current holiday / eating out habits. And I need to find it quickly.

frogpigdonkey · 21/07/2025 17:15

Week 33 12.5mg
SW 15 stone
CW 11 stone 11
TW 9 stone
total lost 45 lbs
BMI 30.8.

still grinding on down! Seeing lower number mid week but sticking with Monday weight as ‘official’ weight. Mini target for now is another 4 lbs for 3 and a half stone lost, which will also take me from obese to overweight! Having started at a BMi a fraction over 40 that feels like a big milestone!

I’m mostly ok with the eating out thing to be fair, I find the MJ stops me eating too much because I just feel shite, although I don’t always make the best choices. And while it’s disappointing to gain @JunoRoma it’s also something that will happen in life on the way to and at target, a few days celebration and a couple pounds on. My aim though is to stop that spiralling back into the same old patterns.

OrangeDonald · 21/07/2025 17:19

@Lindy0070 my new pen arrived this morning, hopefully yours will be just as speedy after your second consultation.

@JunoRoma weight ups and downs are totally normal. Most people gain at Christmas and then have a dry January and join the gym. Im sure there must be a summer holiday bulge too, sometimes life doesn't make it a linear weight loss line.

Lindy0070 · 21/07/2025 17:37

Yes the pen came eventually but with the delay etc I’ve put on four pounds in the meantime!!! Getting back on track now and with the summer hols I’m upping my exercise too.

Might be best just to enjoy yourself for a bit, then get back on plan after and lose it again?

I've eaten out on holiday and still lost but was choosing the healthy-looking/high protein option as much as poss and off-setting with a lot of walking. Also either no dessert or sharing a pudding, to reduce the cals a bit but still get a taste.

Thank you all for providing some perspective. I've become used to steadily losing at least 0.5kg each week, and am finding it harder than I expected to adjust out of that mindset, but I need to get my head around it in order to get into maintenance mode.

The app I use to track my weight shows a 'trend' weight, so I might try paying more attention to that than to individual measurements.

TrinityWaves · 21/07/2025 20:19

@frogpigdonkey M.Ex seem to get a lot of bad press but if they're delivering to you and you have lots of credit to keep the cost down then I completely get staying with them. I think now the rules are tightening more that swapping suppliers is going to be even harder (with booking calls etc) and a faff. 20kg is loads, when you pick up something that weighs that much you realise (even my 5kg chonk of a cat would be a big loss off the body!) On the BMI you've gone from morbidly obese and now you're super close to being out of the obesity range, that's fabulous.

@Goinghome25 do you think it was a bug? Are you feeling better now?

@JunoRoma Amazing that you're over 30% smaller than your starting weight and the overall downward trend is definitely the most important thing. I already commented re the knickers although I have a very fat bum still (just smaller than before!) but the bottom of my stomach is the most awful fat-filled c-section overhang, I don't think I'd ever shift that without surgery. I think it's normal to have a brief gain during holidays/celebrations etc and if you're eating less than you would've previously before MJ during those times then that is progress.

@Lindy0070 there's a lot more admin now to get these pens, very hard if you're at work etc and not just available whenever they phone but I'm glad you got the 2nd one completed and have the pen now even if it wasn't super quick, I'm sure you'll get back on track.

@OrangeDonald your call and pen delivery sounds quite efficient, it's interesting to hear about how different suppliers do things.

@MerryChristmasYaFilthyAnimals that's fabulous! There's something about a size 14 that feels like a huge goal to reach for many of us!

@Slimwannabe amazing!

@ShrankLastWinter I find the set point stuff very interesting and wow you are incredibly close to your goal! Maintenance almost feels like a new journey as we'll need to eat a bit more to maintain but equally not too much to gain.

TrinityWaves · 21/07/2025 20:40

I'm hoping I've caught up with everyone.

I'm not that close to maintenance yet but have been thinking about it a lot. Given that ordering pens whether for losing or maintenance is now getting so much harder it's making me reflect on how long the MJ journey might be for me. I originally was planning to stop the pens at goal, then I thought no I'll need it for life, now I definitely think there's a happy medium. I'm hoping to get the last couple of stone off by the end of this year then maybe spend 2026 titrating down. I think what puts me off very long-term is dealing with all the admin, ordering, calls and deliveries, plus the cost, of course. I'm also conscious that although MJ would continue to work in regulating insulin the slowed gastric emptying becomes less and less effective over time as the body gets used to being on it. So, given I've never been a super-responder to the suppression I'm thinking that probably after some years it wouldn't potentially be that effective for me.

I think that I'll need to come off and give it a crack solo. My BMI goal is the very high end of healthy (11st) so it wouldn't be that much of a gain to re-qualify (13st) in the future. I'd probably go to a local supplier (pharmacy or private GP) where everything can be done in person. Also I'd be fully clothed and probably have eaten at that point so I'd easily weigh 5 lb heavier than my morning naked weight lol.

I know we've discussed a bit above about holidays and other special events, I'm dreading the food/weight side of an upcoming holiday with extended fam as we have meals out booked and I've also ordered norethisterone (if it arrives in time) as period is due the day we go (and these meds cause weight gain too!). It's going to be tricky to navigate. Although I've got much better (mentally) at not finishing everything on my plate.

I'm still doing the 10mg-pen but this week just ending has been great suppression as my fifth dose is usually a bit bigger. Although I usually don't bother with the syringes now and just twist the dose knob/button the wrong way, it snaps off and then I poke an allen key through and inject with normal attached pen needle. I did get one of those 'fifth dose plungers' a while back but you have to snap the pen in half between the clear bit and the grey bit and it's really hard. Both these ideas were found on Reddit and I know people don't like them because you can't tell how much you're injecting but I always use up all the liquid anyway, even with a syringe.

I had a big NSV in that today I wore a size 12 dress, I'm actually a 14/16 right now but it feels amazing that some some clothes this size could actually fit now or will do soon. At the start I was usually a 22, sometimes needed a 24 trousers. So the thought of being a 12 and maybe a 12/14 trousers is incredible.

frogpigdonkey · 21/07/2025 21:41

Thanks all for the kind words, and love hearing all the perspectives. @JunoRoma I do hope you really enjoyed those treats, and your family celebrations. I’ve felt the MJ has helped me to enjoy them and overeat a bit without going crazy, and trite as it sounds, I do savour the food more- I tend to be a pig and gobble my food and MJ has helped with that, because I know how shitty I will feel if I don’t chew properly or eat to the point I’m bursting! And we’ve all been at this 7-8 months, with great losses all around. It’s not realistic to think we won’t have blips. and as others have said, that’s how people who regulate their weight more easily do it- have a treat, enjoy food and drink with loved ones, which is one of the (IMO) most basic human joys, but then don’t think fuck it and binge for days afterwards!

maintenace is a tough one, I have a long way to go yet, although getting to just overweight will be huge for me. Losing a pound a week, while slow, makes me hope that maintenance will look quite a lot like my diet now, just with a bit less restraint. How well I will do at that without the MJ I don’t know. My plan is that when I get close to target I start titrating down very slowly, and maybe stockpile a few pens. I don’t see cold turkey but like others I don’t see myself on this forever, both for cost and other health reasons. But I’ll be very happy to keep doing what I’m doing and average a pound a week for the rest of the year- that will get me most of where I want to be. Then I can reassess in 2026.

Glas to hear youre feeling better about the slight gain. Its going to happen to us all as we try to find a new normal.

i actually think we are moving towards the most difficult part of this process.

Ive plateaued and gained recently and its tough mentally. Im away just now, no scales, and have no idea how I am doing. Just hoping that when I step on the scales on Friday Im not too shocked!

I think it was pasta with a rich sauce late at night and then the chugging of a large quantiity of water when I woke up... or maybe the prawns! Anyway i was okay after 18hrs or so. Thankfully!

Loss this week: -2 lb

SW: 263.4 lb (BMI42) Size 22
CW: 179.8 lb (BMI29) Size 14/16
TL: 83.6 lb
TW: 11st (BMI24.9) Size 12 (hopefully!)
Current dose: 10mg

@JunoRoma I’m also struggling with finding the right spot between my loss diet of 1200-1400 calories a day and eating anything. Making me a lot more anxious than just straight dieting did. The scale fluctuations didn’t worry me then, because I knew I wasn’t eating enough to gain.

JunoRoma · 23/07/2025 09:08

Happy to report that the unwanted kg left as quickly as it arrived.

SW: 105 kg
CW: 72 kg (BMI 26.4)
GW: not sure, would ideally like to get my waist measurement down to 36"

Total loss: 35 kg

I won't be able to weigh next week as I'll be away.

JunoRoma · 23/07/2025 09:33

Waist measurement this morning is 94 cm (37") which is very encouraging.

ShrankLastWinter · 23/07/2025 11:07

Also back down today, 74.1 again, and my scales think I’ve slightly increased my muscle mass. So that’s encouraging.

MerryChristmasYaFilthyAnimals · 24/07/2025 18:15

Urgh! So scales show 11.3lb so that's 3.5stone loss, but I increased my jab to 5mg at the weekend and the suppression is mental. I've never been great at eating properly and rely on protein milkshakes.
But Monday I only had 200 cals. Tuesday managed to get to 600 cals and weds around 600 cals. It's not enough but I just don't want anything at all. Will try 4mg again this weekend.

LC4life · 24/07/2025 21:56

Hello everyone! 😊

@OrangeDonald huge congratulations on reaching 75 kg! That’s such a massive achievement, you’ve done incredibly well!

@ShrankLastWinter reaching BMI 25 is amazing, I’m truly so happy for you!!!

@Slimwannabe isn’t it crazy how hard it is to keep track sometimes? Then suddenly you realise you have lost more than 20% of your body weight. That’s such a big achievement, well done!

@JunoRoma I hope you have the best time camping! You are absolutely right, enjoy the time, stay mindful and don’t stress too much if a little comes back on. You have already proved you can lose it again (and gnocchi was worth it I'm sure!). I laughed at your knickers comment, I went from size 20–22 to size 16, but I still wear my newest 20–22s because I’m too tight to throw them out! They’re hanging off me now at the back, its not a very good look 😂

@frogpigdonkey I completely agree with you and JunoRoma that at this stage it’s about finding a rhythm that works for the long-term. The suitcase analogy for losing 20 kg really struck me, it’s very powerful (while 20 cartons of 1L milk means nothing to me) I’m also hovering just above the “overweight” threshold at the moment, stuck between BMI 30.2 and 30.7 for a few weeks.

@MerryChristmasYaFilthyAnimals That’s amazing news about fitting into a size 14! I’m inching towards that goal too, though I think I’ll be in my size 16s for a while yet. When my husband asked what my goal size was, I hesitated and said “maybe a 12?” it felt so strange to say it out loud, like I couldn’t quite imagine it. And while I admit I’m a little envious of your suppression, I do hope you’re being careful as 200–600 calories is so low, and I want you to stay healthy, so hopefully reducing again next week like you plan to will work.

@Lindy0070 I’m so sorry you had such a frustrating time with the consultation. I'm glad it's been sorted now though finally!

@TrinityWaves I can’t believe you’ve lost over 83 lbs!!! I mean I do believe it, but it is such a wonderful achievement! What’s going on with us though? You and JunoRoma are growing in height and I’m shrinking, I need to get remeasured at the GP too, just in case I’ve had a growth spurt too 😂. I was puzzled by your injection method, I have to admit I’m struggling to picture it, but it sounds impressively DIY! And I really appreciated your reflections on long-term thinking with Mounjaro, I’ve been doing a bit of that myself lately too.

@Goinghome25 sorry to hear you weren’t well! Glad it turned out to be a one-off food thing, hoping it won't happen again!

As for me… I’ve been a bit stuck recently. I briefly touched 199.8 lbs, but then bounced right back up and have been hovering around 202 lbs. I’m not counting calories strictly, but my daily intake tends to fall between 1,000–1,500, though I suspect I’ve been moving less. I’ve still kept up my strength training, though.

The kidney pain has mostly settled, although I still feel the odd twinge on my side. I can’t tell if it’s a lingering tiny stone fragment or possibly an ovary acting up (I have mild PCOS).

Thankfully, I’m feeling so much better than I was a couple of weeks ago. I’ve got more blood tests next week, so I’ve lowered my dose to 5 mg this week t in case it has any effect on my liver enzymes. After the tests, I’ll go back to 9.5 mg, and if my weight continues to stall, I may start calorie/protein counting again.

Hope you're all doing well and thank you as always for being such a supportive group 💛

JunoRoma · 24/07/2025 23:09

@LC4life I'm glad to hear that you're on the mend.

Goinghome25 · 25/07/2025 06:20

Glad to hear youre feeling a bit better @LC4life . Hope the blood test go well and the twingy pain goes.

Just come back from holiday, havent weighed yet... I am worried about a gain...

I was eating whatever I fancied, which actually wasnt very much some days, but more on others.... even threw away half an ice cream one evening... unheard of!

Need to pull up my (much smaller) big girls pants this morning and step on the scales

ShrankLastWinter · 25/07/2025 07:29

Nice to hear from you and glad that you’re feeling better @LC4life. All the best for the tests now

Sw 13.7

1lb off! Very happy 😀

properly back on the food tracking from now on.

Got my maintenance meeting on 7th Aug and would love to be a bit nearer goal weight by then.

Been on 7.5mg as that was the only pen I had. 10mg one due to arrive today.
