I didn’t expect to need a new thread in under 2 weeks but here we go!

Thanks for all the support everyone. I skimmed the old thread last night and we have over 80 posters (not a typo) starting in the last 2 weeks! I will work out if I can tag regular posters later but the old thread is close to full so wanted to get this up and running for Friday updates.

What’s everyone’s thought on pen #2? Happy to stay on 2.5 or go up to the 5? I’ve seen a few comments where people are going to get the 5 pen but just administer 3.75. I’m not sure what to do.
I’m on week 2 day 4 and as of this morning I’ve lost 3.5lb. Not to be sniffed at, but hardly the mega losses I’d anticipated 😂 That said, I’ve had no side effects other than a little heartburn but no suppression either. I know the 2.5 dose is merely to get me used to it, so I’m thinking yes, maybe I will go up to the 5 pen but just do the 3.75 for this next pen (would that get me 6 doses out of it?)
Also, the golden dose. I’m up for it, but would need talking through it as I’m scared it will be more difficult to do than the regular pen. Anyone know any good YouTube videos to help? So I need to order special needles/hyperdermic syringe?
Sorry if I’ve missed some posts about this already, there’s just too many to keep up with! I do have a scroll back each evening and try to keep up!
We’ll done to everyone so far!

Really struggling with lack of appetite since 3rd jab. Think I’ll probably need to get some protein drinks at some point purely to increase calories which is not something I ever thought I would need to actively think about.

How are people finding making themselves eat without hunger cues?

I'm finding it a challenge as well. I'm sat here trying to eat half a tin of butter beans (cooked as part of a dish) and it's going to take me 20 minutes at least even though it's objectively really tasty.

I'm trying to plan so I don't have to make choices of what to eat, having small portions and trying to finish them, and eating protein first when I've more than one thing on my plate.

I'm struggling with eating enough too, the suppression is so strong. I've stocked up on protein shakes and yogurts to sip throughout the day. I'm trying to eat a little at a time, hard boiled eggs seem to go down easily and I'm trying to eat as much chicken as I can with some veg. I've really gone off sugar and struggle with pasta.

I’m really struggling with my appetite too. It’s the hardest on days 2 and 3, it seems, when I can barely face eating and at times have struggled to get 400 calories in me per day.

I’ve found that if I don’t eat at least 800 calories I feel absolutely rotten, even if I don’t feel hungry.

A few things I’m doing to try and get the calories in:

4-5 ‘snacks’ / little teeny plates of picky food per day rather than 3 meals. I basically eat like a toddler now.

make a protein shake with milk and add a scoop of slimfast powder. I sip at this over time if can’t face necking it.

have cooked chicken ready in fridge and try to nibble a bit through the day, if it’s there and cubed into little bites I’m more likely to eat it.. even if only one bit.

same with cheese, tiny cubes to snack on.

tuna with tiny dash of balsamic vinegar and or chilli flakes , as I love it and it’s pure protein.

toasted bread (the stodgy thin rectangular stuff from Lidl) with seriously strong cheese spread… cut into little ‘soldiers’ as it feels smaller 🤣

have boiled eggs in fridge ready to go, I cut them in half and did them in salad cream.

peanut butter spread on thin apple slices.

Lovely olives in the fridge to pick at.

Brazil nuts. I have a pot of these on my desk and try to eat one every hour or so.

what I tend to do is to prepare a small plate of a few bits of the above , regardless of if I fancy anything, and I find that i get into it after a few notes.

maybe this is absolutely not your kind of food, but this is what I can seem to face at the moment. Eating little tiny picnics of snacks is way more manageable than a ‘meal’ for me. I’m not sure I’ve eaten a ‘normal’ plate of cooked food / regular meal since I started MJ. But to be honest I’ve always preferred to eat like this anyway… I just used to eat WAY more of it plus a massive bag of crisps with everything 🤣

Mounraine · 04/05/2025 16:05

I just do TRE, knowing my appetite comes back by day 3/4.

dozywelshbird · 04/05/2025 16:08

Hi everyone, well done on some amazing losses, I have my first week weigh in tomorrow and I'm feeling nervous....

It's all going well and I have good food suppression but when I do eat I can manage quite a normal size meal, I don't have any of the "have 1 mouthful and can't manage any more feelings"? Is this normal? Is this something that will happen once the dose is increased?

violetmondays · 04/05/2025 16:12

@dozywelshbirdI feel the same as you, most of the time I can eat a normal meal although I have been stopping eating before I normally would as trying to stop before I’m full, and I guess the Mounjaro is helping with that as sometimes I would overeat before.

RubyJuno · 04/05/2025 16:20

@dozywelshbird @violetmondays I’m similar - I’m managing to eat proper meals but making smaller portions and more sensible choices. I’ve not really had the “can’t face anything” feeling which I’m relieved about as it means I can pretty much keep to normal life with the family etc. I had a sausage sandwich this morning as we were at my parents and I ate it all but was full afterwards. 6 hours later I’m just starting to get a bit peckish again but we’re going out for dinner so I know ill
be able to do justice to a main course. But I’ve had no interest in snacking so that along with the reduced portion sizes is how this is working for me - I’m not chasing complete appetite suppression cos I don’t want the risk of insanely low calorie intake.

dozywelshbird · 04/05/2025 16:50

Thanks for the support @RubyJuno and @violetmondays it's good to know it's not just me

I went happily all day yesterday with a yogurt and some grapes but then had salad and some halloumi at the pub (and 2 ciders!) but managed it all, I didn't have anything else after so maybe that's how it'll work for me too?

Tbh I love eating as a family / going out for a meal so if it means I can still do this easily then that'll work for me 😁

Chunkysewist · 04/05/2025 17:51

I don't have full suppression either. I don't necessarily feel hungry but I'm ok eating 3 times a day. My evening meal is the same as my familys. I don't want anything after it though and I try not to have it too late. I don't have any urge to snack or binge eat. I'm getting 1400 cals a day mostly 😊

Undecided2025 · 04/05/2025 18:03

Just injected my second dose. Couldn’t bring myself to do it even though painless so DH helped.
6.5 lbs loss in week 1. I know a lot of that is water but I’m really happy with that.
i was really quickly low in energy and am now quite tired. Hoping that passes quickly.

PoisonIvy89 · 04/05/2025 18:46

Hello everyone, some awesome losses happening well done to all!

I sneaked a peek at the scales this morning and was slightly very disappointed to see less than a quarter of a lb gone so far, I had a brief moment of feeling very demotivated and then I slapped some sense into myself because it's been 4 days and I'm being ridiculous. I almost didn't want to pop on here and see how everyone was doing because comparison is the thief of joy and I thought seeing other people posting good losses would send me back in to the 'see this isn't going to work it was a total waste of money' spiral but actually it didn't and I'm very happy for you all.

It is working, I haven't had a single snack and not because I'm depriving myself but because I don't want to. I've opened the snack cupboard a couple of times and been like meh nothing looks good there's no protein in any of that it's not worth the calories. Excuse me? Idk whose voice that is in my brain but it ain't mine!

It is working and I will see losses eventually.

StartingApril2025 · 04/05/2025 18:51

The shotys app is interesting, today was supposed to be my highest level day and it was actually the day I had the biggest appetite and was ready for my meals and ate a normal portion!
I have regrettably wanted ( and had) some nicotine gum these last few days whereas last week I thought that’s it I’m free from them! Maybe tomorrow will be better in that regard, would love to completely stop any nicotine alongside this weight loss journey!
I also had a Coke Zero today and again that was a no no all last week🤷🏼‍♀️😵‍💫
my calories were still fine for today and I was able to stop eating, not overeating etc but interesting how last week I was so not interested in any food. Probably better This was to be honest !

Flowerchild547 · 04/05/2025 19:00

Thank you for the suggestions. I think I need to be stricter with actually forcing myself to at least attempt to eat something so picky bits is likely to be a good shout!

SkibidiSigma · 04/05/2025 19:00

W2 D4 for me and I've drunk a bottle of wine today with the excuse it's a bank holiday tomorrow. Still no food cravings and probably haven't eaten enough today which makes the wine even worse, but yes wine cravings are back 😩.

catchingzzzeds · 04/05/2025 19:27

W2D3
I’ve had a funny old day, I felt weird this morning just kind of light headed and woozy and then realised that I was ravenous all of a sudden. This was despite already having had breakfast but I listened to my body anyway and had some Greek yoghurt, I had all the family over and did roast lamb which I also ate and then had a few snacky bits around an hour ago.
I’m not sure what’s going on but I hope tomorrow is better, cooking for ten today whilst feeling odd was hard work 😓

SkibidiSigma · 04/05/2025 19:37

@catchingzzzeds I can imagine that was not fun for you. What was your calorie intake like yesterday and could you have been dehydrated? Alternatively, I don't know how old you are but could it have been something hormonal (pmt?) unrelated to mj? I felt a bit like that the day before my period started.

Hopefully you will feel better tomorrow

catchingzzzeds · 04/05/2025 20:03

@SkibidiSigma interesting you say that, I’m 47 and my periods have been almost nonexistent for months but I did have very light spotting yesterday so you’re probably right. Thank you, I didn’t connect the two but that’s very likely it

Beachbabes · 04/05/2025 21:41

W2 D2 for me like a lot here the headaches and nausea is real today. I had a few drinks last night and found I couldn’t drink half as much as I normally would so it defo wasn’t the drink to make me feel bad, although it wouldn’t help 🫣. I Would normally eat really bad after a few drinks but hardly ate today,
Dip in the sea did help!

Mounjaronew · 04/05/2025 22:07

Hi I just had first injection this afternoon.
SW 12 st 4
GW 9 st 12

I don’t feel any effects, good or bad, yet.
I am 64. I feel i am probably older than most. But never too late to try something new! This seems safe and effective for many people.
I was interested in how many say they want to cut down drinking using this. I am in same situation. I am definitely hoping it helps with that!

I'm 71. I think I'm the oldest person on any of these threads maybe.

I had my first injection on Thursday evening and so far it seems to be working. I have much less interest in food than usual.

Sunshineandpool · 04/05/2025 22:55

I've not caught up with all the messages today yet.

But just came on because I've had a frustrating day trying to deal with my utility company who are utterly useless. Then got wound up by someone commenting that using WLI is 'cheating'. I just find that such a childish thing to say. Obesity is no game. So how can you cheat? I planned to do one of the strength exercise sessions that Juniper give you, but ended up not getting the time which annoyed me further.

However, I did realise that often with that frustration I would look for something crunchy like crisps or crackers and take my frustration out by eating them very fast! Well, I haven't done that! So that is one positive anyway! 😊

Goodnight, all 🌙

PoisonIvy89 · 04/05/2025 23:01

I saw a thread this evening about talking to chatgpt and have tried it for the first time. I asked it to help me make a meal plan for the week, told it I'm trying to lose weight, want to eat higher protein, how many calories I want to eat and what foods I don't like and the answers it gave me have quite honestly shocked me! Why has it taken me so long to try this?! I have the perfect meal plan for the week, and then it offered to make me a shopping list, it didn't offer to go to tesco for me which is my only complaint but apart from that I highly recommend trying it if you need help with recipes or meal plans!

Crikeyalmighty · 04/05/2025 23:56

@Sunshineandpool it really annoys me if people mention the cheating thing- at the end of the day it still requires you to either eat an awful lot less or move an awful lot more- ideally both - it doesn’t simply ‘melt the weight away’ and carry on as you were doing- now for some people on WLI they lose an awful lot quite quickly because they aren’t eating much or had a lot of water weight or whatever but it isn’t cheating - there’s drugs they can give to alcoholics to make every drink a nightmare, make them not want to drink at all as they throw up- do these people call that ‘cheating’ - at the end of the day they are medical aids to correct a disorder -

Mounjaronew · 05/05/2025 00:18

I agree I don’t think it is ‘cheating’ at all. It is just using the tools available.

@PoisonIvy89 I am going to try the ChatGPT meal plan thanks for suggestion!

I think I will do my usual thing when I start new eating plan or diet and go to the shop tomorrow with long shopping list. Might be better to wait a couple of days and see whether appetite is madly suppressed as might change what I need to buy.

I am doing very low intensity running each day and a sea swim. I will add in some yoga and Pilates I think.
