I didn’t expect to need a new thread in under 2 weeks but here we go!

Thanks for all the support everyone. I skimmed the old thread last night and we have over 80 posters (not a typo) starting in the last 2 weeks! I will work out if I can tag regular posters later but the old thread is close to full so wanted to get this up and running for Friday updates.

W1D3 still getting good suppression but have only managed 800 calories today and I don't think I could fit anymore in most of that was a protein shake and a vitamin juice. Going away at the next bank holiday weekend for my birthday so hoping to be used to the new regime by then! Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend 😊

catchingzzzeds · 03/05/2025 19:15

@PeachSnail I used Pharmacy2U and it was easy and quick

@Sunshineandpool god I’m the opposite with smoking sadly - not eating much has made me want to smoke more, especially if I’m thinking I feel snacky - I really must give up when I get the weight off - I’m more than aware it’s not great but thought I would be honest.

Oh, that's a shame. Maybe it will help at a higher dose. And gosh, no judgement here. Knowing it's not good for us and being able to quit are 2 different things!

Thanks for the tip about Zava! I'm also looking to switch from MedExpress... But I'm being a bit put off by having to potentially do complicated video submissions/ consultations.

Was it as simple as just filling in a form at Zava?

Anyone got any other tips about good online pharmacies to switch to?

I'm potentially looking at sticking to 2.5mg... but agree it could be useful to buy the 5mg and at least have the option of using a smaller dose if preferred 🤔

It was the form and then 3 photos (on scales, front body and side body)
Really straightforward and got approved and sent quickly, think start of form to delivered was 3 days!
Have a look on the mj comparison site as they have the codes to get the best price on there!

ymemanresu · 03/05/2025 19:39

Does anyone know anywhere where i could switch to cheaper for the 5mg pen? Im with MedExpress and they want £150.

PeachSnail · 03/05/2025 19:40

@catchingzzzedsthank you - will check them out 🙏

@Flowerchild547ok - that sounds pretty straightforward. And good to be able to use a code. Thanks for letting me know 😊

catchingzzzeds · 03/05/2025 20:25

@ymemanresu look at monj, it’s a comparison website

Good morning everyone - just catching up on yesterday’s messages, as I was out all day. DD and I cycled 25 miles with friends and I was so happy to have the energy to manage it - it’s been a while.

In the morning I was worried as couldn’t get much breakfast in, only a protein shake before leaving. But at the first rest stop I ate lots of nuts and from then on was fine. Managed to eat lunch, which I had also been worried about as the place we stop at doesn’t have healthy options, had a cheese toastie, ordered without the fries which is not normal for me but no one from our group commented and I was hungry enough to eat most of it apart from crusts and crisps on side. Also had an icecream later on, first sweet treat I’ve wanted since day 1 on mounjaro and it was lush after cycling in the sun. I did have a headache by the end, I think it was dehydration as I didn’t drink as much as usual due to toilet facilities.

Back home I only managed one slide of the family Saturday night takeaway pizza (cut up with a fork and forced myself bite by bite as my appetite was nil) and poured half my small glass of wine away. Focusing today on better nutrition and rehydration as my nausea from jab 2 has completely gone.

Wow well done you! And yes, ice-cream was definitely needed! I find I don't have to worry about having treats as I know I won't over eat them or over eat other things later so can well afford to have them. It's nice to be able to be more relaxed about food.

After goal weight??
Sat here with my own thoughts this morning regarding the longer term when/if I reach my goal weight, or get to the place I want to be. What then??

I don't feel that i want to be on mj forever, and when considering it all before I decided to go ahead I always said the same.. but a little part of me wonders if its that simple...

My plan is to try and get my calorie intake up to at least 1200 (healthily and with plenty of protein) whilst on mj and continue with the gym. This then hopefully would be sustainable without the mj (with less willpower than would have been needed before mj, due to habitual changes).. but a part of me is scared that definitely cant happen and to remain lighter i will need to be on it forever.

What are everyones thoughts/plans?? If you even have any at this stage?

Sunshineandpool · 04/05/2025 07:43

Morning 🌄

I had quite a restless night but still feeling ok this morning. It's such a lovely feeling to not feel exhausted every morning. I take medication that causes me to feel tired but mj seems to counteract it. I think these jabs are going to benefit so many people who have to take meds for their mental health.

GoGoGovy · 04/05/2025 07:52

Morning.

My first injection was yesterday afternoon. I think I may have messed it up as I don’t think I counted to six (Wegovy)
Anyway, I wasn’t particularly hungry for the rest of the day. I don’t know if it miraculously kicked in straight away or my appetite was down due to excitement, apprehension, etc. No side effects so far
Weighed this morning and 0.2Kg up 🙄. Let’s see what day 2 brings…

wlinewbie0425 · 04/05/2025 07:59

@ymemanresui think Zava is 139 - I just stuck with ME as couldn’t see anything significantly cheaper and I didn’t want to do all the photos/videos again. I got the 5mg but still might stick to taking 2.5 or 3.75 as my current suppression is more than adequate. Still a couple of weeks before deciding.

I’ve had small fingertip size bruises with both injections on my stomach but DH knows I’m injecting and no one else will see so I haven’t really thought about it. My second one was darker than first even though I felt j did better with it.

Love your case @Sunshineandpooli have been browsing glasses cases on Amazon, for now my stuff is in a clip lock Tupperware in my bedside drawer. Alongside a massive toiletry bag of supplements!

My next pen in fridge is wrapped in tinfoil and stashed carefully as my mum is visiting soon and I suspect will have strong negative opinions about WLIs. It’s never come up in conversation but with recent news coverage I suspect she will be more aware of them now.

Welcome @Parantaand @GoGoGovyall of us GLP1 users are going through the same journey. I didn’t pay attention to the info about contraception (as DH had snip!) hadn’t realised there was that difference between them. I also think injecting later on after the light pub lunch would be fine, just not after a curry/fry up/ or all you can eat buffet! did you go for it?

@PoisonIvy89 “Holy crap this stuff is magic” made me laugh - that’s exactly how I feel every time I am not fussed about wine. It’s cast a spell on me.

@LuckyPlant
@TwistedKeys
@50lbstolose
@BeachBodyAim
@Scousebloke
and anyone else I missed - well done on the losses, the progress on this thread is amazing - think how many people’s worth of stone we will have lost in total already between us!!

catchingzzzeds · 04/05/2025 08:07

@Sheldon4kI think about this a lot too. I’m hoping that I’ll have adopted habits that’ll help me going forward and I plan to weigh myself regularly so I can pull myself back in quickly.

wlinewbie0425 · 04/05/2025 08:10

@GoGoGovycross post, sounds like you took it just fine! The concentration in blood peaks Day2-3 so the suppression may still build. Don’t overthink daily weighing (easier said than done I know).

@Sunshineandpoolsame. With the exception of the one bad side effect day I have felt so good every morning since starting. For me I think that’s got a lot to do with knocking booze on the head. I was rarely hungover but always a bit slow and dehydrated because of wine most evenings. I feel so much happier and mentally just ‘lighter’ somehow every morning.

@Sheldon4klong term is also on my mind. Like you I hope to retrain into better habits before coming off. At the moment I’m hoping this is a 6-9 month plan of meds, not for life, but it’s too early to know. I also think this could be different, medically, for each of us depending on how/why we gained the weight and if we have always been overweight as an adult or if it’s a shorter term situation based on hormones or lifestyle. And probably a whole lot of other individual factors.

Morning Everyone! Had a medial issue with our wee one yesterday so was in hospital most of the afternoon /evening so the calories and nutrients were low yesterday on day 1 of week 2. @wlinewbie0425 that’s impressive you managed such a big cycle,you should be proud!!
I am super unfit which i absolutely need to do something about as I just this morning received my blood result through that I did last week through the private GP who is doing my prescription- my cholesterol is very high, giving me a bit of worry as am relatively young and my dad first had a heart attack only a few year older than I am now, thankful recovered well.
so a kick up the bum for me to start more exercises, and of course happy that Iv started this journey as otherwise I would have continued to be overweight too.
Hope everyone has a good day whatever it brings !!

I think about this too. The thing I worry about is, if MJ does something to the body to help with weight loss other than suppression of appetite (for example I’ve read things about it increasing fat burning etc) then will that make it even harder to maintain? I definitely don’t want to be on it long term either but I wonder if will power alone will be enough? I’ve read a couple of accounts from people who have struggled afterwards (mostly because cravings and food noise come back) but I’m wondering if there are any positive stories out there? If anyone has seen any please share!

Chunkysewist · 04/05/2025 08:34

@StartingApril2025 hope your little one is ok ❤️

Im also waking up feeling better mentally. I have mental health issues. I'm wondering if this lighter feeling is because I'm no longer overeating I'm not waking up angry at myself now? And where I'm spending less time thinking about food and being more productive, I'm not berating myself for being "lazy"? A burden has been lifted off my shoulders it feels.

Long term plan for me is when I'm at my goal weight I will very slowly reduce the dose of mounjaro and then increase the time between doses. I will try to go without it to test the waters but if I can't do it then I'll be sticking with a low maintenance dose with the longest intervals I can do. I refuse to gain the weight back again. I'm so tired of yo yoing. I know some people who take one 2.5 jab every 2 weeks, some once a month. The 30 days use by is an efficacy issue not a safety one so there is nothing to say that one pen couldn't last you a few months in maintenance.

wlinewbie0425 · 04/05/2025 08:38

@violetmondaysone thing I have read about maintenance is the importance of maintaining muscle. This makes sense thinking back to high school biology as muscles are where most respiration happens to use up glucose. I read that if GLP1 users often lose loads of muscle along the way then when they reach goal their bodies are much less effective at burning calories so fat piles back on.

There are lots of people way ahead of us in this who say their biggest regret is not doing strength training from the beginning, so this week I am going to make an effort to do 2-3 sessions a week. I really like the Caroline Girvan iron series ones (on YouTube).

SkibidiSigma · 04/05/2025 08:40

Morning all,

Well done on the continuing losses, really quite incredible when you think about it!

@Sheldon4k I've also thought about this a lot since starting. I'm quite happy to stay on it long term if it becomes available for the cost of a prescription. It's worked way better on me than I could have hoped for both food and alcohol and I know that I will struggle on my own (as I have my whole life)

StartingApril2025 · 04/05/2025 08:50

Yes I have read that repeatedly about muscle loss and how the muscles of our bodies are the fat burners long term. @wlinewbie0425 I will get on YouTube and find a strength programme for beginners, I have some weights, bands etc basically all the gear and no clue!

@Chunkysewist I am glad you are feeling well today, I think sometime we berate ourselves for lots of things and blame ourselves and eating/ weight gain etc is certainly up there- I wonder maybe you feel calmer like me as I am now 100% sure I will lose this weight. I don’t feel the stress of it’s all on me, I’m not good enough , I’ve failed again etc and I feel a peace that this will happen? That in itself is so freeing in my mind! It’s like that massive part of my mind that focused on weight loss, being fat etc can take a chill out.

Can anyone recall the podcast that was recommended in the last thread? If so can you put it here, I scrolled back out couldn’t find it!

SkibidiSigma · 04/05/2025 08:51

@StartingApril2025 hope your little one is ok 💐

Another super unfit person here, with high cholesterol and high BP. My dad also has had numerous heart problems and had a huge surgery about 10 years, which I would like to avoid.

Unfortunately it was picked up a few years ago that I also have something abnormal with my heart, no one can tell me what exactly and I'm just being monitored at the mo but want to do what I can to mitigate.

Going to look up some strength training vids on YouTube and force myself to do it a couple of times a week and also get back into swimming for a general exercise.

@Chunkysewist that's a great side effect if it's helping your mental health too. But makes sense, over the last year I've made a conscious effort not to beat myself up about my eating and drinking in an attempt to break the cycle where I then eat/drink more to make myself feel better, but it's so hard isn't it

wlinewbie0425 · 04/05/2025 08:58

@StartingApril2025hope your wee one is ok. We all have days with low nutrients and calories, someone said to think of intake across a week so let’s make up for it today.

@Chunkysewistand@violetmondaysreally interesting thoughts. I also think there could be something in the idea of GLP1s having a direct effect on the way we burn fat - I shared a Substack article about this in the last thread but had it deleted as realised it shared my real name when you followed the link. Google ‘Gary Taubes Substack’ to read it.

If the pens are safe within expiry date after opening, just possibly less effective then I also like the idea of taking a really low dose for a while to taper off at end. My friend who has lost loads told me she’s now taking longer between doses as she works out how to maintain. Will keep reading and learning about this as that’s a long way off still for me! I do plan to always reorder my pens well ahead of time so I have a stash, both in case of any supply issues as demand soars and also to give me possible maintenance options at the end. Don’t want to have too many though in case of a fridge disaster. Ours is quite old. I already have a thermometer popped in beside my pen that I keep an eye on. Had to move it from salad drawer to door as former was too cold and was at risk of freezing.

OP posts:
Chunkysewist · 04/05/2025 09:10

@StartingApril2025 yeah I think you are right, for the first time in a long time I actually believe this could work. I have hope of being a normal weight again ❤️

The pharmacy Im with support maintenance. As my concern was just being cut off when I got to a healthy BMI. They even give you a couple months to try without MJ and let you come back within that time if you need to without having to have the high BMI again.

Chunkysewist · 04/05/2025 09:12

Ive read the same about muscle mass. That's why I'm eating extra protein and I've started a strength routine. Some muscle loss is inevitable but I'm hoping to retain as much as possible.
