I didn’t expect to need a new thread in under 2 weeks but here we go!

Thanks for all the support everyone. I skimmed the old thread last night and we have over 80 posters (not a typo) starting in the last 2 weeks! I will work out if I can tag regular posters later but the old thread is close to full so wanted to get this up and running for Friday updates.

For those who are unsure if their GP’s have been informed about mounjaro use by their provider - I received a letter from my doctor surgery earlier this week stating they’ve been informed that I have started weight loss injections and gave an overview of my medical history (to share what they sent to the prescriber I assume).

I was also doubtful that my surgery would be informed but it seems they have been!

Iirc my prescriber asked if I was OK them sharing my info with my GP. I said it was fine.

@PumpKim I don’t think I’ll be taking the bonus dose cos I’d be too worried about getting it wrong and I’m a bit of a goody goody.

I’m away with friends BH weekend which is when I would take my first dose of the new pen so I don’t really want to move to 5mg in case I do react - I’ve had absolutely zero side effects beyond a bit of fatigue and skin tenderness in week one but I’ve definitely not felt the effects as strongly this week. We’ve had a weekend of birthdays so meals have been a bit more “special” and I made a fabulous cake which I’ve had a piece of each of the last 3 days so I’d be surprised if I’ve stuck to calories (not tracking) but I’ve also not gone mental.

I think I will stick to 2.5mg for now as broadly speaking it’s helping me do what I need to do and I’m not suffering at all.

This is my thinking too, I'll stick to 2.5 for now because as far as side effects go, touch wood, im OK and my suppression is good although today, wk3 day3 I can tell its not full on as it was.

PoisonIvy89 · 14/05/2025 16:22

Great losses @wlinewbie0425 @Coffeeandallthebooks @PumpKim @LordJohnGrey

@toobusytoclean fingers crossed for the official weigh in

@Crikeyalmighty have you decided if you're going to continue with it yet?

@TeatimeForTheSoul good luck for tomorrow! I'm finding some things are way too salty now and had to reduce the sweetener in my coffee

@Flowerchild547 my prescriber put the letter they sent to my gp on my account so I could see what they had sent to them, it was just basic details about what medication and dosage they had prescribed to me

Crikeyalmighty · 14/05/2025 16:29

@PoisonIvy89 no - I’ve gone hardcore- calorie control plus 2 dance classes a week - luckily full of other overweight non skinny Minnie’s plus daily dose of herbal berberin - so far all good- no side effects apart from 10 mins of tummy ache and I’ve lost 1.5lbs since Saturday . If it doesn’t drop I may well start again post July holiday - but my willpower is decent so hopefully all will be well - I just need to be consistent - I lost 2stone 4 before like this in 8 months and then got bored!!

MsRicoletti · 14/05/2025 16:46

@TeatimeForTheSoul I’ve found similar thing with food tasting intense. Especially if it’s sweet or tart, like fruit. I ate some grapes this morning and the first one was like a fizzy sweet in my mouth… pretty intense!

MsRicoletti · 14/05/2025 16:54

I don’t know if it’s a direct side effect or just a result of my body getting way less calories so having less energy to run on , but I’m totally shattered by 4pm every day and am falling asleep really easily.. which is not like me at all.

I don’t hate the easy bedtime,as have struggled with sleep issues for years.. but I’ve got a really busy crazy job and often work past 6pm, so I’m struggling with feeling the desperate urge for a Nana nap during the day.

Anyone else super tired?

StartingApril2025 · 14/05/2025 17:00

I’m also have the intense tasting today for the first time , everything tatses too sweet today ? The nicotine gum I have is vile, the mints are too sweet, I opened a can of Coke Zero as a wee afternoon treat and couldn’t drink it! Weird! Iv had a protein yoghurt for my breakfast with a fibre bar, a bowl of soup for lunch- couldn’t finish it which hasn’t been like me at all! Had an apple this afternoon and now have meat and veg planed for tea.

StartingApril2025 · 14/05/2025 17:16

@MsRicoletti yes me, also very tired!!
how are you getting on with the nicotine, or anyone else for that matter?

Yes! I’m exhausted 😴 but then can’t get to sleep once I get into bed 🙄 Getting through the day is hard work, if I sit down too long I drop off

frogswimming · 14/05/2025 17:34

Hi everyone! I’ve not been on for ages. I just did my fourth pen. How do you do that extra dose? And did you all go up to 5mg after four doses?

Sallycinnamum · 14/05/2025 17:47

I'm in a bit of a dilemma today. I need to order my second pen today with Voy and had intended to stay on 2.5mg as i was getting very strong suppression but I've noticed quite a difference in my hunger levels today.

Bit loathe to move up to 5mg in my second month as I'm not sure I'll cope with the possible side effects so think I'm resigned to sticking with 2.5mg for another few weeks then move up to 5mg mid June.

GoGoGovy · 14/05/2025 17:47

@MsRicoletti yes! I’m absolutely knackered for the first 3 or 4 days. Buck up by day 5 when my suppression is low. I went to bed at 18:30 on Sunday 😀.

MsRicoletti · 14/05/2025 17:50

Glad to hear it’s not just me that’s almost nodding off at any quiet moment 🤣

@StartingApril2025 I haven’t noticed much of an effect in my vaping until the past few days, when I’ve defo been vaping less.
to be fair I haven’t actively been trying to reduce it.. but have just noticed I’ve not fancied it as much recently.

Hawkmoth · 14/05/2025 18:09

I bought a coat from Vinted which arrived today. Gutted as it's noticeably too big for me (in that DH noticed). I can't believe the change in 3 weeks. Weigh in Friday.

violetmondays · 14/05/2025 18:31

@MsRicoletti and @GoGoGovy I’m getting the same, wipes me out for the first 2 or 3 days and then back to normal. That’s partly why I’m worried about what will happen if I go up to 5 😬

I have a posh awards to tomorrow night and dug out a lace dress which hasn't fitted me for years. It fits! A small triumph!

Contacted my provider and they've suggested i inject in my stomach on Friday as lots of reports of less suppression in the thigh so I'll try that and see if it makes any difference.

RubyJuno · 14/05/2025 19:59

@Sallycinnamum I injected in thigh last Thursday for my third jab and it’s definitely been different - due to inject again tomorrow and I feel like I’ve not been able to fill up. Admittedly I’ve been running around and relying on protein yogurt and protein coffee but I’ve needed snacks which hadn’t been my experience so far. Back to stomach jab tomorrow!

Yorkshiregirl10 · 14/05/2025 20:08

Interesting feedback on the stomach v thigh @Sallycinnamum @RubyJuno I think I'll try stomach next week as suppression really wears off for me by day 5

As others have said, I'm so much more tired than usual. Could be the reduced calories or a direct SE of MJ 🤷🏻‍♀️

Funny, as i am sat here reading this. I am here having a bowl of cereal for my tea (have been having either porridge or weetabix for breakfast) some fruit wheat things this eve as its tea after all, i thought.

First mouthful I almost spat back out thinking something was wrong with it as its so so so so sweet... I even commented to the husband 'wow how much sugar is in this cereal'.

MJ is definitely having an effect on my taste buds today too!

@MsRicoletti absolutely! I’m a wreck in the afternoon, didn’t know if it was the good weather and sea swims but I’m defo more tired.

@MsRicoletti yes me, also very tired!!

I’ve switched to gum but still having a sneaky vape. Gone right off alcohol though which is a massive bonus.

ymemanresu · 14/05/2025 20:28

@catchingzzzedsIm struggling with waves of tiredness. Im not a morning person anyway but have to be in for 8, after a few coffees i perk up. By lunchtime i am really really tired and even had to have a nap sitting in my car a few times 🤦‍♀️Trying to fight it eating regular mini snacks like a few nuts. I bought some Korean Ginseng and that gave me a good boost today.

Crunchymum · 14/05/2025 20:30

Think I'll try the stomach jab on Friday too for my final 2.5mg dose.

Anyone able to explain to an idiot the science behind the stomach working better than the thigh. My stomach is definitely fatter than my thigh so I've always gone for thigh.

PoisonIvy89 · 14/05/2025 22:07

Am I the only one not struggling with tiredness as a side effect? I'm having the opposite, I haven't had this much energy in years! Maybe it's the mj or maybe it's because I'm fueling myself with proper food and not surviving on junk and sugar crashes

Yesterday I had a rubbish day at work and last night wanted to eat junk to cheer myself up, I had a coconut skinny whip and a reese's peanut butter cup and didn't enjoy them and felt crap for giving in but also felt very impressed in the power of mounjaro. Previously I would have just kept eating more junk to find the food that was going to make me feel better and then eaten large quantities of said food. But this time I quickly realised food wasn't going to fix the problem and... just... stopped. I've said it before and will probably say it many more times but holy crap this stuff is magic.

BonnieClydeSW15 · 14/05/2025 22:12

@MsRicoletti Yes I’m knackered the first few days after jab so worried as it’s W4 tomorrow & I’m crazy busy at work! I also have had sleep issues for years & am a snorer (so Hubby says!) but I am deffo sleeping better and he says the snoring has reduced a lot! It seems obvious that those of us with this metabolism (sugar addicts) are having those issues switched off by the jab and I am loving it!!!
I have eaten chocolate but haven’t needed to keep eating it which is such a relief! Am full much faster & my brain seems to let me stop eating whereas it didn’t before!!
I hope everyone is feeling positive! It really isn’t about the weight loss but how we feel and I haven’t felt like this ever!! Normally if I go on a diet I’m ravenous and give up so fast but 3 weeks in and it just feels normal!
Keep going all!! We are just starting and we can do this! 👏👏👏👏
PS just discovered a friend who I hadn’t seen for months is on it! She looks amazing. She’s on 15mg per week and says she has never left better! 😁
