I didn’t expect to need a new thread in under 2 weeks but here we go!

Thanks for all the support everyone. I skimmed the old thread last night and we have over 80 posters (not a typo) starting in the last 2 weeks! I will work out if I can tag regular posters later but the old thread is close to full so wanted to get this up and running for Friday updates.

Thank you to everyone for the lovely messages of support and encouragement . I really appreciate it and value this supportive community so much ❤️

Ive had a little cry and given myself a talking to.

I recall my old slimming world leader harping on about how the weight took time to go on and so will take time to come off… which I found so annoying at the time but in reality it is so true.

I’ve decided that losing 1 lb without feeling hungry even once all week is better than my previous way of losing weight… which was slooooow and draining, and I’d be starving all week and obsessing about food every waking second and be lucky to lose a single pound… So this way is better by far!

I’ve also realised that I may be carrying a bit of extra baggage so to speak (sorry way tmi) as lm rather constipated! 🫣 which makes sense as I do feel I’ve shrunk this week more than the 1lb loss on the scales shows, clothes fit better etc . I need to up my game with getting things moving in the toilet department , so I’m going to the chemist today to get something to help.

onwards and upwards, we are all doing so well 🙌🏻

Hawkmoth · 06/05/2025 12:55

W2D7. Was actually hungry for lunch today. Having leftover chicken and brown rice as a salad with a high protein yoghurt dressing and lots of veg. Planning meals, cooking extra for lunches and cutting down that need to choose is really key for me, and I am confident it can be a forever habit.

I'm having to take a dulcolax every few days. But if it's been a while that does mean a disrupted night with cramps so I'm working out a sensible schedule.

StartingApril2025 · 06/05/2025 13:26

@MsRicoletti try not to be disappointed and see the weight as per month Prehaps? , I am debating if I will even do a weekly weight in and just do once a month as feel that could be helpful and not be disappointed/ discouraged etc . We all need to remember this is not supposed to be a short term rapid weight loss medication but a tool to help us feel fuller for longer to be able to maintain a safe calorie deficit. If I could average a constant 1-2lbs a week I will be delighted as slow on slow off should be the moto. When I went into this I said I would be on it 9mths at least maybe longer so I need to align my weekly losses with the overall timeframe in mind! Your doing great, keep it up!

GoGoGovy · 06/05/2025 13:43

@MsRicoletti @Hawkmoth I really recommend magnesium citrate for constipation. I take 1 or 2, 1480mg capsules a couple of hour before bed and it really helps. May take a couple of days to get going and once it does, you may need to throttle back to one capsule a day. Brilliant stuff ( said as someone who has suffered constipation for most of their adult life).

Hawkmoth · 06/05/2025 13:47

@GoGoGovy I have heard that but I use Magnesium for migraines so I always need to have that option otherwise I'm stuck. I didn't go very often anyway once I gave up wheat (last year) and alcohol (January) but it just gets to a point where it's unpleasant now I'm on MJ and have given up sugar!

Brunocatmon · 06/05/2025 13:47

I do not recommend the d&v diet for losing 5lbs overnight btw. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Brunocatmon · 06/05/2025 13:49

violetmondays · 06/05/2025 12:18

Afternoon all. Feeling a bit rubbish today but I think it's more likely to be my daughter's cold than the mj.

@Brunocatmon I feel really bad for you, hope you feel better very soon and if not maybe worth contacting your provider to ask for advice.

I have been inspired by the strength chats and the chatgpt suggestions earlier in the thread - so if anyone is interested....I asked chatgpt to create me a programme. This is what I asked it to do:

'can you write me a full body strength training programme to do 3 x per week for 20 minutes. I have dumbells and kettlebells. I am a woman aged ** and looking to increase strength in perimenopause'.

It spat out a pretty good programme for me to follow which is great as to be honest I don't really have a clue what I'm doing! It will even create a printable pdf of it so I can print it and stick it up somewhere👌

@Sheldon4k and @MsRicoletti When I was looking on another thread of people who started last December, some of them said they were averaging about a 1lb a week of weight loss. Also by losing weight too fast you're opening yourself up to other health complications so slow and steady is much safer and more likely to be maintained. As long as it's going down you're doing great 👏
(Also I weighed myself yesterday and it said I had put on 3lb which I obviously haven't and I was back down again today so fluctation is real)

Edited

What a great idea for the training programme. I've saved a few tiktoks and you tubes but tbh it's a bit all over the place.

MsRicoletti · 06/05/2025 15:21

@GoGoGovy thanks for the recommendation. Where do you get your magnesium citrate? I’ve just popped to the chemist and asked but they looked at me like I was asking for eye of newt and said they haven’t seen that in years 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Chunkysewist · 06/05/2025 15:29

Just been for a wander round superdrug. Found some 'this is food' bottles reduced to half price. Dated till August. I only got 2 incase they weren't nice. Anyone tried them? Got some vimto flavoured electrolytes too as my others taste like weak salty blackcurrant 😂 Food suppression still low, hopefully today's jab kicks in soon. No cramps so far though 😊

@MsRicoletti i purchased mine from Amazon, but I have just asked Mumsnet to delete my earlier (photo) post, as I have no idea if it sensible to use with weight loss injections. Best to ask your pharmacist.

Weigh in today. I’ve only lost 1 pound in a week… how??? Why????

I’ve had appetite suppression so have eaten little ,absolutely no snacks or alcohol at all, and have even started to go on walks. I don’t understand.
Feeling very deflated. after initial 6lb loss this feels hard to take.

Have you done any other measurements? You may have lost something from your waist for example. Look at your other achievements - you've started going for walks which is great!

I think we are so brainwashed into our self esteem being connected to that number on our scales. But that is really only one aspect of our quest to get fit and healthy.

I think you're doing fantastically!

Ah, if you're constipated that will add on weight!

dozywelshbird · 06/05/2025 17:20

W2D2 and stomach is feeling a bit off today, had a small lunch earlier and it went very quickly straight through me 😳 (sorry TMI) I haven't tried anything else since as it feels a bit crampy and I have a 4 hour train journey ahead of me, so I'll eat when I get to my hotel later....

I seem to have the opposite SE to constipation, but nothing like today....no hope this is short lived!

Good food suppression still which is ace 😁

ellieinfrance · 06/05/2025 17:40

Hi all, just checking in. Weight loss going well I think. No real side effects apart from sleeping really badly on the two occasions that I've had a few glasses of wine. Don't know if this is common? Otherwise pretty much full suppression of food noise. Tempted to do another pen at 2.5 as not convinced I need to move up. But worried it might start to wear off? Are most of the rest of us moving up to 5?

Crunchymum · 06/05/2025 17:46

Anyone else feeling really cold?

W2D4 and since the weather changed here on Saturday I've been so chilly. Had to wear long sleeves PJ's to bed last night (and socks) and had to have the heater on today whilst I WFH.

I do have a chilly house but I'm just really cold and noone else is.

MsRicoletti · 06/05/2025 18:18

Thanks @Sunshineandpool. I needed to hear that ❤️

MsRicoletti · 06/05/2025 18:24

@Crunchymumi was on/off freezing for first week and a bit x

Hi @ellieinfrance
I've ordered 5mg, even though Medexpress said there could be up to 14 days delay it came today!

I wasn't sure as I've had good suppression and minimal SE with good losses, but went for it. I'm glad I did because I've done jab 3 today and for the first time I fancied something sweet after tea and I've just eaten a mini roll 😫 didn't really enjoy it but it's a worry, so think I'm going to need a bigger dose before I get too complacent thinking I've cracked this new eating habits malarkey 😄

Flowerchild547 · 06/05/2025 19:08

W3D7 and only today do I feel that the suppression and complete lack of appetite is wearing off. I managed a late breakfast, protein shake and will have a chicken wrap later. I think I definitely need to stock up on some more shakes if the suppression continues as my calories have been too low for comfort.

I’m starting to strangely look forward to jab days, didn’t think I’d be saying that when I started!

I've not really decided yet. I've got another 13 days until payment is taken for my next order so got a bit of time to decide. Like you I have good suppression and minimal side effects. I think the main thing that is making me wonder about sticking at 2.5ml is I've got a lot of weight to lose and maybe it would be better to only move up if weight loss is slowing. I don't know. I might make a post to ask people's experience if they have a lot to lose.

Yes! Since the weather change I've been the same. W2D4 too!

StartingApril2025 · 06/05/2025 19:12

Back thinking I must not have injected my dose on Saturday morning , no side effects this week, no suppression really, sting good sized normal portions and not feeling full like last week, also some food noise back - today i mindlessly ate quite a few snacks!! My period is due today/ tomorrow so could it be that?! The Shotsy app says I’ve the same level today as I had at my highest last week when I could barely stand sight of food?! Weird… wonder will this be me for rest of the time on 2.5ml?! If so I’ll be going to 5mg next pen!
anyone else has first dose really strongk I’m effects and second not?!

I am in a similar boat, with quite a lot to lose. I don't want to run out of room to move up too quickly!

Chunkysewist · 06/05/2025 19:37

@coffeelover69 im like that today! Jab number 3 this morning and I feel like I'm waiting for it to kick in?! Maybe by the morning we'll feel more suppression?
