I didn’t expect to need a new thread in under 2 weeks but here we go!

Thanks for all the support everyone. I skimmed the old thread last night and we have over 80 posters (not a typo) starting in the last 2 weeks! I will work out if I can tag regular posters later but the old thread is close to full so wanted to get this up and running for Friday updates.

I've been away for work and then super busy over the weekend so just catching up with everyone.

I'm W2D7, due my third injection tonight. I've felt very queasy all day, but had an afternoon tea yesterday and although my calories were pretty much the same I ate more sweet stuff than I have since starting, so I wonder if that's why.

SW 12'7
W1 12'6.1 (-0.9lb)
W2 12'2.4 (-3.7lb)

Much better this week, think last week was definitely affected by TOTM.

I had already lost 7lb since the end of March, so I'm nearly a stone down in 6 weeks. I am very happy with that; this is the lowest weight I have been since I suddenly piled 2 stone on 3 years ago!

So, medexpress have emailed me to tell me to reorder.

im due to take third dose tomorrow. Im pretty sure ive lost a few pounds this week (along with about 6lb on first week) and suppression has still been very strong. It fades a bit the few days before I’m due to jab, where I will feel a bit hungry but I’m still totally devoid of food noise, can ignore the hunger if I’m busy and am satisfied with small portions.

negative side effects are very minimal, as in the sometimes problematic zero appetite, occasional heartburn and constipation.

if you were me, would you stick to 2.5 for another month or go for 5ml??

im a bit scared of upping my dose and the suppression being even more extreme, along with possible further side effects creeping in?

I don’t actually mind plodding along and losing a few lb a week, as I feel like I’m resetting my mindset and embedding some good habits as I go. But equally don’t want to stall my weight loss and I’ve only lost a few lb this week… which isn’t as ‘exiting’ as the 6lb I lost in first week.

Really unsure what to do …. 🤨

I'm a bit behind you (W2D3) and won't be taking my 3rd jab until Friday but my suppression has been minimal. Unless this changes dramatically I'm going to move up to 5mg.

If 2.5mg worked I'd stick but despite a good first week loss I'm still feeling quite hungry most of the time 😬

YippeeAbsentmindedly · 05/05/2025 14:52

Just catching up, someone was asking about the podcast that was previously posted. @StartingApril2025?

Yes I think if I was still feeling hungry I would move up to 5 too. On balance I’m thinking of doing another month at 2.5 and will see how I’m feeling after that.

I think we all respond differently to this drug as we are all reporting very different levels of appetite suppression and side effects.

Thanks for your input x

@MsRicolettiI am the same, still undecided, but i ordered the 5mg pen as if i don’t want to go up i can do 30 clicks for 2.5mg or 45 clicks for 3.75mg. Since 2.5 and 5 are the same price with them I can’t see the benefit of ordering 2.5 pen, unless you prefer to take the meds exactly as instructed.

I am normally a rule follower but can’t see that taking 30 clicks from a 5 pen instead of 60 from a 2.5pen, is any different from taking 1 400mg ibuprofen tablet instead of 2x200mg tablets. I did search but have found nothing to suggest that the volume of carrier solution affects the overall dose.

@MsRicoletti it’s tricky isn’t it? If I were you, I think I’d stick with 2.5mgs- you’re losing weight, have reduced food noise and few side effects. You can always up to 3.75mgs and then order a 5mg next time

catchingzzzeds · 05/05/2025 15:17

After having great suppression and no food noise week one I’m really disappointed with week two! It must be hormonal but I’m sooo hungry and all the food noise is back. I’m so far managing to stay on track but I’m miserable 😭
Beans on toast for breakfast, ham salad with new potatoes for lunch and I’m clock watching for tea!

I’m feeling a bit silly as not really understanding the 3.75 business. Do you mean If I ordered a 5ml pen i could take a bit more ‘half’ a 5ml dose , and then go up to full 5 dose in subsequent weeks if I need to… and still get 4 weeks out of a 5ml one?

I’m sorry you are having a hungry time. Could you hammer the protein with tuna , chicken breast, lentils etc making up the main of your meals? That’s what I’ve done when ‘standard dieting’ in the past when I’ve been hungry … helps me feel fuller for longer.

I guess the only thing would be that you would have to get extra needles as you could potentially get 8 doses of 2.5ml out of a 5ml pen this way? Is that right or am I misunderstanding something :-)

Sallycinnamum · 05/05/2025 15:52

I survived london but all I've managed today is a banana and pack of Brazil nuts!

The rest of the family tucked into chicken and chips and I couldn't stand the smell so I think its safe to say I'm not hearing much food noise today.

Will be avoiding anything fatty such as mayonnaise going forward as today has been quite unpleasant.

Third jab is on Friday so I'll see how that one goes. Can't see any point in going up to 5mg for the foreseeable.

wlinewbie0425 · 05/05/2025 16:02

@MsRicolettiyes that’s what I mean. So with a 5mg pen, half a dose (30 clicks) would be 2.5mg of Mounjaro. And 3/4 of a dose (45 clicks) would be 3.75mg. So as I see it by having the 5 mg pen I have 3 options rather than only 2.5 as an option.i don’t yet know how I will feel by weeks 4-5 so it means not having to decide now.

@violetmondaysthe issue with that would be that the pen would be in use for more than 30 days which isn’t advised (although some people do it). I don’t plan to do that, but I would use the 5th dose as I will this month with a diabetic syringe, then dispose of any leftover if I do take less than 5mg each week.

5 doses from opening = Days 1, 8, 15, 22, 29.

Today I am sat in the garden with a book on a sunny bank holiday Monday and I have zero desire for wine or a cold beer. It’s really strange but in a wonderful way. I feel completely content without it. Old me would be thinking I needed it to relax and make the most of the day.

Catherhino · 05/05/2025 16:29

@MsRicoletti I’m having a similar dilemma over my second pen. I’ve lost a few pounds but not as much as I’d hoped (I know 2.5 is only the starter dose!) and I’m still getting hungry; no food suppression etc so I thinkI should up my dose, but scared to go up to the full 5 in case of SEs! I think @wlinewbie0425 makes a very good point about getting more doses out of the 5mg pen so I think I’m going to order that and try and do 3.75ml (45 clicks) so it’s like a halfway point. I’m not too worried about having an open pen for over 30 days; I think at worst it will make the final dose slightly less efficient (?) but can’t see any real harm. Plus I’ll be getting more bang for my buck so to speak 😂

Sunshineandpool · 05/05/2025 16:44

@catchingzzzeds

These were the exercises in the first workout:
Marching
Shoulder rolls
Arm reaches
Kickbacks
Hamstring floss
Reclining figure 4

The last 2 were floor exercises and I found them difficult. I'm too overweight to be able to hold my leg as you were meant to. I also felt really woozy when I got up!

catchingzzzeds · 05/05/2025 16:56

@Sunshineandpool that’s great, thank you for sharing them. I’ll give them a go

BudgieMom · 05/05/2025 17:24

I know it's only day5 but I go to my slimming world group on a Monday night and nearly fainted when they said I had lost 7.5 lbs even got on twice to check it!! 😃😃

MsRicoletti · 05/05/2025 17:25

Thanks for the advice everyone. I think I will get the 5 pen and either stick to a half dose (so still 2.5ml) do a 2/3 dose (3.75ml) or even full 5ml dose for weeks 5 -8 if I feel I need it…. I like the idea of having more options !

MsRicoletti · 05/05/2025 17:30

I’m due for dose 3 tomorrow.

I slept late then ate 2x soft boiled eggs and a slice of rye bread with cheese spread for a late breakfast / early lunch .

Then I went on a 2 mile walk and am feeling hungry for dinner, but not desperate to eat or craving junk … which feels so good 🥳

Pre MJ me would have stopped off at the shops for crisps and wine and a ‘treat’ dinner like pizza after a big walk…

I keep thinking, Is this what ‘regular food users’ feel like?! 🤣🤣🤣

Coventree · 05/05/2025 17:44

I’m wondering what to do for my second pen too as I can re-order from tomorrow. I haven’t had any of the effects, good or bad, that many of you are experiencing 😢.

I’ve lost 3lb in a week and a half now, but feel that’s from willpower and clean eating/no alcohol alone (I started the clean eating four days before my first jab so had my ‘whoosh’ moment/water loss then). I don’t want rapid weight loss as I have a gallstone (cleared by doctor to take Mounjaro but not being monitored) so steady losses are good and part of me thinks that 1.5lbs a week is a sensible and sustainable way to do it…and part of me thinks I’d ideally like to lose nearer 3lb a week, particularly considering the cost of each pen!

I might use some of the extra dose to go up to 3.75 this week for jab number 3 and see if that has more of an effect.
