I didn’t expect to need a new thread in under 2 weeks but here we go!

Thanks for all the support everyone. I skimmed the old thread last night and we have over 80 posters (not a typo) starting in the last 2 weeks! I will work out if I can tag regular posters later but the old thread is close to full so wanted to get this up and running for Friday updates.

W1D5 happy bank holiday Monday everyone hope you all have a great day! Getting on great in my first week no major side effects only thing is I struggle to get calories in! Ive been getting between 700-850 these past 4 days but can't fit anymore food in never ever thought I would have this problem as food is definetly my go to in all situations 😮

Beachbabes · 05/05/2025 10:34

@Sallycinnamum I am the same day as you. So it definitely wasn’t a hangover yesterday, feel worse today 🤢 I am on bloody pressure tablets and reluctant to keep taking motillium, anyone any suggestions for nausea? We can’t get pepto bismal here so trying milk of magnesia .

Mounjaronew · 05/05/2025 11:47

I had first injection yesterday and I'm hoping it's not just psychological but not feeling even slightly hungry. And no side effects yet.

Sunshineandpool · 05/05/2025 11:47

Good morning, gang! Hope everyone is ok?

W2D3 didn't eat breakfast this morning and started to feel a little light headed so just tucking in to a bowl of greek yogurt, berries and nuts. I have good supression and not really feeling hungry but know I need good nutrition.

Well done, @Mounjaronew A lot of us felt suppression very quickly so probably not psychological. Great to hear you have no side effects!

It's strange isn't it? I feel like the challenge is to get good nutrition rather than to try and eat less as the mounjaro completely takes care of that.

Happy bank holiday it’s lovely to pop on the thread in the morning and see all the positive updates. Congrats on the new losses. My happy update is that I did a mid week weigh and BMI is 29.9! Not seen just ‘overweight’ in a long time. Definitely feel clothes are slightly less tight but still a long way to go. I really believe it will happen this time unlike previous dieting attempts. Reading the other months’ threads who started before us helps keep me positive too. They are all doing amazing!

What a milestone! Well done! I have more to lose so will be so excited when I am just 'obese' and not 'morbidly obese'! 😂

@Beachbabeshope you feel better today, I’ve been too scared to have a drink as I get horrendous hangovers and I’m worried Mj will make them even worse

@Mounjaronew good luck!

@Apprenante hope it works well for you

@Sunshineandpool good restraint! What sort of strength exercises do Juniper recommend? I was looking for some last night but ended up confusing myself

@PoisonIvy89brilliant idea, I detest meal planning so will give it a go

@Crikeyalmightycouldnt agree more

@BonnieClydeSW15 it feels so good having that control doesn’t it? I used to feel a deep sense of shame for my eating habits and used to hide my wrappers 🙈

I've not done one of their workouts yet. But I'll update when I do later today.

Hi all, I found you again 🙂 I don't get to come on the thread as often as I'd like and when I do it's moved forwards so much! Well done those of you who are experiencing good losses. I had my second weigh in this morning prior to taking my last jab with this pen and, following my 4lb loss last time, I've only lost half a pound this week 🙁 I'm sure this was affected by my daughter pestering for a takeaway this weekend (we had Chinese), and also the fact I just haven't felt the suppression this week so much (and food noise has built up). Having said that, I haven't gone mad at any time.

I've just reordered and I'm going for the 5mg pen this time, in the hope I get better suppression.

On the subject of side effects, I've nothing major to report. Very slight constipation. I am sleeping incredibly well at night, but having very vivid dreams. Another thing this week - don't know if it's related to the injection - is I've suffered badly from a heat rash. I used to get this a lot when I was a young woman and on contraceptives. I don't sit out in the heat too much as I find I can't tolerate it (no internal thermostat control since meno) but I have had the odd five or ten minutes in the sun last week. I made sure to put factor 50 on my neck and chest, as that's where I get red, but wow, such bad heat rash! I'm chucking calamine and all sorts on to try and ease the redness and itching. As some PPs have said, I think my weight gain is hormonal, so I'm wondering if it's hormones post-meno causing this again, or the pen?

Age 61
Height 5'7"
SW 228 lb
CW 223.5 lb
GW below 154 lb

I am the same, sleeping really well, having energy when I wake up but yes, the vivid dreams.

Brunocatmon · 05/05/2025 12:10

Wk 2 day 1 today. Don't feel too great today. Bit nauseous, bit tummy ache, sulphur burps. Ugh.

Today is not fun.

BudgieMom · 05/05/2025 12:33

@Sunshineandpool yeah your right been eating lots of protein and adding in protein shakes to bring the calories up

Steala · 05/05/2025 12:41

I'm on W2D3 but I messed up the last injection. I forgot to hold after I pressed the plunger and a huge amount of liquid spurted out. I haven't had any SE or any positive effects for a week now. I lost 2 lb in week 1, but I've been on a mission to eat and drink EVERYTHING this week. Fingers crossed I get it right on Friday.

SparklyGlitterballs · 05/05/2025 12:49

FFS MedExpress!

I had originally ordered my first pen in January. However, as I was due to have some medical tests, I didn't want to start until they were done and I'd received the results. I didn't begin taking Mounjaro until 21 April (all OK as expiry on box is September). This morning I took my third jab and tried to reorder for the 5mg. But....as it's over 8 weeks since my previous order they won't move me up a dose and want to send me 2.5mg again - despite me explaining what led to the delay. I'm not paying all that money to stay on 2.5, as I haven't really had the suppression I was expecting.

Does anyone know - if I move to another supplier, will I be able to get 5mg? I'm cursing now that I ordered that first pen before I was ready.

Well done everyone on their losses and positive stories.

Someone was telling me to use chat gpt yesterday. I hadn't thought of asking it to do a meal planner for me. I might give that a go.

fantastic idea, thank you, i’ll do this now as going to Tesco this afternoon.

Well i’ve made 11 stones something for this first time since September last year. 11.13 and a quarter 🤣Still ‘overweight’ but very pleased with this. Walked 7 miles over the Malvern hills yesterday, it wasn’t easy and my legs are really aching today but pleased i’ve got the motivation to do this now.

I was hesitant to tell my nurse friend that i’m taking these as i thought she’d tell me off but she was really supportive and said a lot of the nurses at her work are also on them.

I had the same days 1-4, it's amazing. Makes me wonder if naturally thin people are like that as their standard 😂

I asked my friend this who is 5ft 2 and naturally really tiny at a size 6-8 in her 50s, very healthy . She does do quite a bit of walking but says she doesn’t get this ‘food noise’ , says sometimes she forgets to eat and only realises she needs to eat when her stomach is growling. So lucky!

Brunocatmon · 05/05/2025 13:32

So these horrible burps. What causes that?

I used to get these a lot when I was a kid. They used to really scare me as I thought I was going to be sick.

I would say acid. Try antacids, or even just eat something plain like a cream cracker. I take Omeprazole for acid reflux and I had those burps the other morning but they went as soon as I’d taken it. I think someone further up the thread suggested peppermint capsules.

W2D4 and not feeling much of anything, good or bad side affects - apart from I feel I've put on weight after a great 6lb loss in W1. 😫
I know it's still early days though so will put off deciding whether to go upto 5 next week.
Happy May Day.

MsRicoletti · 05/05/2025 14:33

@Brunocatmon I get the bad burps and heartburn if I drink anything fizzy, even sparking water! I eat stacks of rennies or slug some generic heartburn chalky liquid and it goes away.

MsRicoletti · 05/05/2025 14:40

So, medexpress have emailed me to tell me to reorder.

im due to take third dose tomorrow. Im pretty sure ive lost a few pounds this week (along with about 6lb on first week) and suppression has still been very strong. It fades a bit the few days before I’m due to jab, where I will feel a bit hungry but I’m still totally devoid of food noise, can ignore the hunger if I’m busy and am satisfied with small portions.

negative side effects are very minimal, as in the sometimes problematic zero appetite, occasional heartburn and constipation.

if you were me, would you stick to 2.5 for another month or go for 5ml??

im a bit scared of upping my dose and the suppression being even more extreme, along with possible further side effects creeping in?

I don’t actually mind plodding along and losing a few lb a week, as I feel like I’m resetting my mindset and embedding some good habits as I go. But equally don’t want to stall my weight loss and I’ve only lost a few lb this week… which isn’t as ‘exiting’ as the 6lb I lost in first week.

Really unsure what to do …. 🤨
