I will be starting Mounjaro at the end of this week. The current April thread are mostly discussing the move onto their second 4 weeks so thought I would start a thread for those of us right at the beginning.

Hey all,
I’ve tried to come on here and catch up but just so busy and haven’t had time. So I’m now one week in and sadly I have to say it’s making no difference to me at all. 😔 I did lose a couple of 1lb after a few days but my official weigh in day is Monday so we shall see. I’ve just done my second injection tonight and I’m hoping something shifts. I think I’m going to try and not eat anything for a few hours when I wake up as I’m often not actually hungry then. I will keep going but I think it’s going to require a lot of willpower alongside, rather than the magic everyone talks about… but maybe it gets easier the more you take it/higher the dose.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Don't forget at 2.5ml you are not on a therapeutic dose yet. I will keep my fingers crossed you get your magic soon!

Sunshineandpool · 30/04/2025 21:55

Those who are doing Juniper - how are you finding your health coach? Have you done much of your programme yet?

I'm finding it a bit of a slow start as she only messages me once per day and I'm probably a bit keen! But all of her messages have been useful. We have set a goal for me to try to increase my water intake to 2L next week.

I’m keeping everything crossed for you. you have started your journey now and that’s an amazing step!!! maybe think of this as the initial prep phase of your body acclimatising to these new meds , laying the groundwork so the magic can happen when you reach the dose that works for you .

we are all rooting for you xxx

I just crunched a load of rennies for the heartburn and as a result of the neutralisation… I now understand what they mean by sulphur burps!

I’ve alap ordered needles and wipes for extra dose from UKmed so I am prepared for the whole next 6 weeks. As well as a new sharps bin, as I had no idea how they worked and managed to lock the one I got with first order.

Edited

ooh can you link the needles and wipes on this site please.

Vixs13 · 30/04/2025 22:19

Evening, W1D5 done and I’ve been really hungry all day! I feel like the effects have really worn off today and I’ve had to use a lot of willpower to not just stuff my face. I don’t know if it’s because it’s my first day back at work since I’ve taken it and it’s been a really busy physical day but I have resisted eating my usual go to foods so that’s a plus.

ymemanresu · 30/04/2025 22:19

BeachBodyAim · 30/04/2025 20:33

W2 D5
food suppression is crazy again today!!! This is so weird - it’s not me!!!!! I could eat 24/7 before mj!!!
I just don’t want to eat anything - I don’t feel ill at all, zero SE. I just simply don’t fancy anything! I’ve got no interest in food at all.
I managed to force down abit of cheesy mash and a few beans and I’ve drunk plenty today.
Blows my mind - in a good way!!!!

It’s mad isn’t it, is this what naturally slim people are like? so unfair 😂🤦‍♀️

autumnnightsaredrawingin · 30/04/2025 22:26

Thank you so much @wlinewbie0425 @Sunshineandpool @MsRicoletti .
Your words have really helped. I guess I am just feeling so out of control- I need this desperately to work and so was hoping it would be the answer but I guess I just need to give it time. How are you all finding it?

PumpKim · 30/04/2025 22:37

First dose done👍
I wasn't expecting the pen plunger to be as stiff as it was, so felt like I struggled but I'll be prepared for that next time now I know what to expect.
I've come to bed now, fingers crossed for minimal SEs, I'll report back tomorrow.

AbundanceofKatherines · 30/04/2025 23:10

@PumpKim - I know what you mean about the stiffness of the plunger. I felt like I needed two hands to do it. Jab #2 for me tomorrow and pushing the plunger is the only thing I’m nervous about 😬

@Sunshineandpool- I think I’m the opposite of you. I have had very little interaction with my Juniper coach. Your post made me feel a bit guilty, so I just sent her a quick update!

BonnieClydeSW15 · 01/05/2025 00:06

Hi all! So end of W1 and 2nd jab tomorrow. Overall it’s been an interesting week! Today I started to feel like I wanted to eat for the first time but actually eating is still hard, like trying to swallow is harder - when before I could just inhale a huge plate of food without even noticing! It has been a revelation not to be constantly craving food and today when I was hungry, I think it was the first time in many, many years when it probably was ‘real’ and not just in my head. Anyway I don’t have any scales so can’t say if lost any weight but my clothes still feel the same! 1 week is a short step on a long journey so taking it day by day! Keep going everyone! It’s great to read how you are all getting on! 😁

Selttan · 01/05/2025 06:25

Starting today as soon as I work up the courage. I’m a big wuss around needles.

Hoping to lose 20kg by the end of the year. I have hashimotos and hypothyroidism though so I suspect I’ll be a very slow loser.

Flowerchild547 · 01/05/2025 06:40

W3D2 and I’m feeling rather nauseous and have an upset stomach,
Not sure if it’s from yesterday’s jab or if I’m coming down with a sickness bug.
I ate quite a lot yesterday compared to previous days so I wonder if this a reaction to that but either way it’s not particularly enjoyable.

toobusytoclean · 01/05/2025 06:45

Week 1 finished, lost 2lb overall - it was more but effects wore off from Sunday and my willpower is rubbish, and there’s still Easter chocolate in the house 😩
still at least I know it works and good habits will build.

I did my first injection last night, wasn't as bad as I thought and no side effects so far, had a good sleep x

I’ve sucked it up and done it.
if the injection site hadn’t bled I would’ve thought it didn’t work as I felt nothing.

wlinewbie0425 · 01/05/2025 07:17

@Flowerchild547I took second dose yesterday and have also woken feeling extremely nauseous, to the point of retching (sorry tmi) for the first time. I know it’s expected so hoping I can work through it today and get some calories in even though I don’t want anything. Can’t even face my usual morning coffee.

charlie10k · 01/05/2025 07:39

Took my first (this time around) injection this am. Feeling fine, not at all hungry though. I am expecting to not fancy eating anything, since this is how I have felt previously. I am 12.2 and 5".7. I would like to be 10 stone.

AbundanceofKatherines · 01/05/2025 07:53

Sorry you’re feeling rough @wlinewbie0425- hope this improves quickly.

I’m W2D1 today - just jabbed for the second time and the plunger was easier (I guess I was more ready for it this time). I was still a little nervous, but not shaking today! Haha.

SW 12st 7.5
CW 12st 3.1
GW 8st 10 (this is what Juniper suggested, I will review if I begin to look scrawny - was always a good weight for me but I’m a bit older now)
F60 (61 at the weekend) 5’3”

Fist week was not too bad at all. No noticeable side effects. Worked well (I think) days 1 - 4, increasing willpower needed 5 - 7, but manageable as less food noise.

I’m off on holiday tomorrow, for two weeks. I will continue this journey on holiday!

Bon courage à tous 💪

Good luck, im needle phobic too, been know to throw up after blood tests. Nearly wussed out doing this but didn’t feel a thing in my thigh.

wlinewbie0425 · 01/05/2025 08:08

@ymemanresu yes first time so far. It’s eased a bit after sipping a shake.

these are the ones I ordered as recommended on another thread. Can’t vouch for them yet myself but will give it a go week 5.

To the drinkers on here- DH fancied a few sitting outside the pub yesterday as the weather was amazing. Really didn’t fancy any alcohol at all but i had 1 glass of wine and can honestly say i didn’t enjoy it at all. Totally unheard of for me.Really pleased with this side effect.

wlinewbie0425 · 01/05/2025 08:17

@ymemanresu this has been huge for me too. I did same when I had lunch with DH and had to ask for a glass of ice to water it down. No desire for a second glass. I’ve had less wine in the last week than I would have in a typical day (and that was most days if I’m honest since this is anonymous) before Mounjaro. I have no doubt that more studies will come out in the next few years and confirm this as a treatment for alcoholism and other additions as I’ve read so much anecdotal evidence around this already.
