I will be starting Mounjaro at the end of this week. The current April thread are mostly discussing the move onto their second 4 weeks so thought I would start a thread for those of us right at the beginning.

Thanks @wlinewbie0425 , well done on your successful first week!

Today I am taking before photos and measurements with my new body measuring gadget. It's a bluetooth measuring tape with an app that stores all the measurements but I think it might be faulty because I do not like the numbers it is giving me! The before photos are definitely wrong too. I took pictures from angles I had no business seeing and I'd like to go back to not knowing how big my butt is.

I'll be taking my first dose tomorrow morning and I'm excited to start!

This made me chuckle

Brunocatmon · 30/04/2025 18:37

Can I ask what's the point of going up in doses ? Genuine question. Does your body just get used to it and you start snacking again?

Chunkysewist · 30/04/2025 18:51

@wlinewbie0425 do you have android or iPhone? I keep reading reviews that say the full version is better on iphone?

Beachbabes · 30/04/2025 19:26

SilenceInside · 30/04/2025 16:48

@Beachbabes are you not in the UK? All the Mounjaro kwikpens in the UK are the same, wherever you get them from.

No Southern Ireland but get my prescription sent from the north as Irish prices are ridiculous!! GP advised I do that!!

I think it's to build the medication up in your system with as few side affects as possible. 2.5 is just to get your body used to it but some lose weight on that dose. Others need higher. If you stop having suppression or stop losing weight you go up a dose for more effect.

SilenceInside · 30/04/2025 19:40

@Beachbabes are they the single dose pens rather than the 4 dose ones?

Gabby10 · 30/04/2025 19:48

Took my first dose around lunch time! When did any side effects kick in if any have had them? I felt sick earlier but that could be as I’d not long eaten, it’s boiling and my 3 year old had me spinning her around on the trampoline 🤣

Mounraine · 30/04/2025 19:58

My side effects come anytime between day 2 and 4.

BeMellowAquaSquid · 30/04/2025 20:10

Hi I started monjaro last week have my 2nd 2.5mg tomorrow. Really want to lose 3 stone have been so miserable and yo yoing for years. Goodluck everyone!

BudgieMom · 30/04/2025 20:19

Just took my first doze! Fingers crossed there's minimal side effects overnight 😊

MsRicoletti · 30/04/2025 20:24

Welcome and good luck to all the new starters 🥰

BeachBodyAim · 30/04/2025 20:33

food suppression is crazy again today!!! This is so weird - it’s not me!!!!! I could eat 24/7 before mj!!!
I just don’t want to eat anything - I don’t feel ill at all, zero SE. I just simply don’t fancy anything! I’ve got no interest in food at all.
I managed to force down abit of cheesy mash and a few beans and I’ve drunk plenty today.
Blows my mind - in a good way!!!!

Yes iPhone. I did read some older reviews of it that there wasn’t an android version (at that time in 2024) so maybe it’s not fully developed yet?

I took my second dose at lunchtime and not had any side effects all day, but just developed quite a bit of heartburn 2.5 hours after dinner.

Last week I took it right before bed and had a headache by morning which lasted 2 days until I started taking electrolytes. So far that’s not back. I’ve drunk a crazy amount of water today thought. No idea how much but litres and litres. Luckily I work from home office next door to my bathroom 😂

4 dose…. I think I’m stupid now, maybe I can lessen the dose actually! Is there such thing as a MJ brain 🤣🤣🤣🤣

wlinewbie0425 · 30/04/2025 07:31

well done @frogswimmingwe have very similar stats and goals! I’ve noticed a few others with similar too. We might get into overweight rather than obese in the not too distant future 🙂 it’s been a while for me.

Exactly @chunkysewist- no fomo at all, DH apologised for getting pizza delivered this week and I could honestly say that it didn’t bother me at all. I could see and smell that it was lovely but had zero desire to eat any. It’s the weirdest thing. I have still enjoyed food though. I went out for a pub lunch towards end of week when I wasn’t getting so full, and ordered a chicken Caesar salad instead of my usual burger or macaroni and chips! It was lush, and I enjoyed every last bite. I do still enjoy eating so far.

I am currently not calorie counting at all, just being mindful to eat regularly, healthily and include protein in all meals. I hate logging everything on MFP or similar, but if I run into issues with nutrition I know this may become necessary.

I'm enjoying my food too. Some things even seem to taste better. But I can eat a small amount and feel fully satisfied. There is no desire to over eat delicious food. It is so strange!

wlinewbie0425 · 30/04/2025 21:16

So after me ordering my next pen earlier today as I was worrying about the possible 14 day delay… just got a Royal Mail delivery notice it’s arriving in the morning 😂 it’s got a few weeks to live hidden under the salad in my fridge now! Clearly not actually any delay for 5mg with ME.

Hey all,
I’ve tried to come on here and catch up but just so busy and haven’t had time. So I’m now one week in and sadly I have to say it’s making no difference to me at all. 😔 I did lose a couple of 1lb after a few days but my official weigh in day is Monday so we shall see. I’ve just done my second injection tonight and I’m hoping something shifts. I think I’m going to try and not eat anything for a few hours when I wake up as I’m often not actually hungry then. I will keep going but I think it’s going to require a lot of willpower alongside, rather than the magic everyone talks about… but maybe it gets easier the more you take it/higher the dose.

Hope everyone is doing well.

SkibidiSigma · 30/04/2025 21:19

Just taken my 2nd dose a day early. Extensive googling said it was fine, you just need to leave at least 72 hours between doses. This one was so much smoother than my first injection, so smooth in fact I'm wondering if I actually injected myself 😂 2kg loss which I'm happy with.

Hi, everyone, newbie here, first dose tonight! Excited and a little nervous xx

Good luck @verity888 taking your first dose!

wlinewbie0425 · 30/04/2025 21:38

@autumnnightsaredrawinginand others who aren’t feeling any effects yet. Everything in the literature suggests this is normal. We all have different levels of response to the drugs in it. Which makes sense when we are already realising that some people have the right levels of these chemicals naturally and have the ‘full’ signals and lack of food noise all the time. I think of it like we are all on a spectrum and some may be more deficient and need a bigger top up of GLP1 than others to get to the optimum level like naturally slim people must have. Some people don’t ‘feel’ it until they get to the higher doses then it works amazingly. 2.5 was never designed as a therapeutic dose. However I get how annoying this thread must be with losses week 1 for some people but not others. Keep reading the positive stories of those who responded later in the other threads.

Thank you all, have just done my first dose. I have about 3.5 stone to lose. Excited to start the journey 😀

Crikeyalmighty · 30/04/2025 21:40

@Mounraine yes me too - always the same, slight sicky feeling for a few hours, several times a day plus indigestion /heartburn a few times a day for maybe 20 minutes- and plenty of burping ( but not sulfur ones) after 4 days it wears off for final 3 days.

wlinewbie0425 · 30/04/2025 21:45

I just crunched a load of rennies for the heartburn and as a result of the neutralisation… I now understand what they mean by sulphur burps!

I’ve alap ordered needles and wipes for extra dose from UKmed so I am prepared for the whole next 6 weeks. As well as a new sharps bin, as I had no idea how they worked and managed to lock the one I got with first order.

Edited

I've never experienced a sulphur burp and not sure I want to 😂 I like a Rennie when needed though so I will try and use them sparingly
