I will be starting Mounjaro at the end of this week. The current April thread are mostly discussing the move onto their second 4 weeks so thought I would start a thread for those of us right at the beginning.

Me too!

sw 13 8
cw 13 4
gw 10 9
height 5 ft 5

pleased with that as it has been so easy! I’ve lost 4 lbs in a week being really restrictive on sw / Ww or no carbs before, but it was such a struggle. This was just me noting down calories and eating normally. I’ll do my second jab tonight when I get in from work.

Chunkysewist · 30/04/2025 07:19

Great losses @wlinewbie0425 and @frogswimming well done!
I'm hoping this works long term. I was explaining to my husband last night that it doesnt feel like a restrictive "diet" because I'm not having to keep saying no to food, I just don't want it in the first place. No fomo either. I've read alot of people miss being able to enjoy food but I know I won't, food has not been a friend to me, I'll find joy in something else!
W2D2 for me. Didn't sleep well last night but that's not unusual for me, plus it was boiling last night. Just having breakfast and a coffee that tastes meh.

Coventree · 30/04/2025 07:30

Hello to everyone joining in 👋. Will do jab number 2 tomorrow and have lost the grand total of 1lb so far this week, but I did four days of healthy eating before the first jab to get in the zone so had my water whoosh loss then. Can’t say it’s had any effect at all on me - and was really hoping I could stick at 2.5mg and not need to go up. But I’ll see what jabs 2-4 bring - maybe they will have more impact 😊

wlinewbie0425 · 30/04/2025 07:31

well done @frogswimmingwe have very similar stats and goals! I’ve noticed a few others with similar too. We might get into overweight rather than obese in the not too distant future 🙂 it’s been a while for me.

Exactly @chunkysewist- no fomo at all, DH apologised for getting pizza delivered this week and I could honestly say that it didn’t bother me at all. I could see and smell that it was lovely but had zero desire to eat any. It’s the weirdest thing. I have still enjoyed food though. I went out for a pub lunch towards end of week when I wasn’t getting so full, and ordered a chicken Caesar salad instead of my usual burger or macaroni and chips! It was lush, and I enjoyed every last bite. I do still enjoy eating so far.

I am currently not calorie counting at all, just being mindful to eat regularly, healthily and include protein in all meals. I hate logging everything on MFP or similar, but if I run into issues with nutrition I know this may become necessary.

Happy to have found you! I started yesterday on Wegovy. Seems everyone else here is on Mounjaro? Is it because that is what you can get in the UK? (I am outside the UK and Wegovy seems to be the only one offered).
SW: 110 kg
Short term goal weight: get under 100kg!
longer term goal weight: would love to be under 80kg (or 70kg, at a stretch).

Flowerchild547 · 30/04/2025 07:54

Just had my jab day weigh in and lost 2lb this week. Bringing my total to 8lbs for the end of week 2. I was hoping for more but I do have to remember that I have an underactive thyroid which really does not help the weight loss. When I last dieted, it took me 6 weeks to lose 8lbs so I should really be rather pleased.

I’ll be doing my jab shortly and is it strange to actually be looking forward to it?!

Coventree · 30/04/2025 07:59

I can’t wait for it @Flowerchild547 because I’m impatient for it to have an impact! I’m already bringing it forward a day to crack on with it and was debating doing it tonight, but will sit on my hands until tomorrow.

MyScaredCat · 30/04/2025 08:02

Ok, I’ve just done it. And it was fine 😅
dose 1 is in

GW 175lbs

Well done to all the brave new starters, it can be daunting to begin! We got this 💪🏻

im on day 2 of w2.
had a rager of a headache yesterday then realised although id drank loads of water, i didnt do electrolytes yesterday so this seems to be a requirement for me. I felt better after chugging electrolytes, if not a little sloshy …

someone here recommended vidrate brand of electrolytes… ive looked their website and they offer first month (30 sachets) for free (3.99 postage) … then you can cancel the subscription if they aren’t working. It’s £16 each month after that but free postage.

I’m going to do this as can’t hurt even if I don’t want to continue after the trial (as long as I remember to cancel it 😅)

thought I’d share in case anyone else finds this deal useful. It’s just on the vidrate website x

Hello all, W2 D5, i’m feeling a bit down as started to get urges to eat sugary stuff yesterday and had a cornetto ice cream. I think this may be because i hadn’t slept properly for 2 days and was really tired.

Hey ymemanresu, I’m sorry you feel down.

remember this is still a very low dose and early days. I figure your urges to eat this stuff has been suppressed so far, and has popped up again as you are almost ready for another dose? I see this as a positive, as you have noticed this as a change from the lack of these urges so far.

i would usually have eaten about 6 big bags of crisps a week (I’m not kidding) , so even if I’m eating small amounts of unhealthy foods when my cravings start up I am trying to see this as a win and an overall massive change.

and one cornetto is very small in the grand scheme of things xx

I don’t mean to minimise how disheartening it is when cravings creep back in, as I noticed this toward the end of my first week and it feels hard … but I want to remind you this is a a cross country trek, not a sprint and you are doing so so well ❤️

im proud of all of us on this difficult and life changing journey. Lifetime habits will take time to change but we are all taking these steps and that’s amazing 🥳

I couldn’t resist and have done my 3rd jab!
Good luck to you for when you take the plunge!

Im tempted to do my 3rd jab early too tomorrow ( 3 days early) does anyone think this is a bad idea?

Hawkmoth · 30/04/2025 08:57

W2D1 here, did second jab last night. Slept really badly and feel like arse this morning, but I suspect that's because I also took a laxative last night. Ugh.

Anyway, thanks for the vidrate tip. Hoping that perks me up a bit.

I was still not very hungry last night, but thought to myself, this will be the hungriest I'm going to be for a year, might as well eat. Anyway I had some toast and peanut butter but couldn't finish it!

I'm trying really hard to make what I do eat tasty and exciting. If it's not, long term is going to be really tedious. But it's all just so removed from feelings, it's really hard to explain.

Sheldon4k · 30/04/2025 08:58

Well its jab2 for me today! Did it late evening last week and unsure whether to do the same or a little earlier today.. will have a think about it after the gym.

I have averaged around 1000cal per day (I want to increase this a little though if I can).

As a daily weigher I note that days after the gym I actually weigh less (contrary to my belief) but I think it must be because I consume way more water on those days??).

Think I might have to ensure a gym visit on a Tuesday where jab day and official weigh day is a Wednesday!

I have had a few niggly side effects, but nothing major in my first week, looking forward to seeing how we all progress through this next week!

Week 1 stats
SW 11st13lb
CW 11st 7.5lb
GW 9st 7lb (mini GW 10st 10lb)

W1 - 5.5lb (more than happy with)

PeachSnail · 30/04/2025 09:24

W2 D2 for me... Jabbed yesterday morning and found that the effect has built gradually. Had enough appetite to finish all my dinner (tofu + stir fry veg) but then felt really queasy after.

Had a terrible night's sleep (not sure that's down to MJ) and now feel the effects much more strongly this morning. For me, it's mild nausea and loose stools (sorry TMI!). So I'm back to needing to sip on a protein shake to settle the nausea. I usually make one by blitzing frozen berries, almond milk, almond butter, fat free greek yoghurt, vanilla protein powder and ground flax seeds. My partner says it tastes rank but I quite like it!

Anyway... Hoping the protein boost (+ plenty of water!) will help to settle things down.

MsRicoletti · 30/04/2025 10:24

Increase in Poor sleep/weird dreams/early waking seem to be starting for me after second dose.

I don’t need this side effect as I already struggle to sleep 😭

ymemanresu · 30/04/2025 08:44

I did mine a day early and will move it a day early again in a couple of weeks purely to time it so I can do it before going away at the end of May. I'm not sure if I'd be brave enough for 3 days early.

LordJohnGrey · 30/04/2025 11:27

Well just taken 1st one, as had to wait till today.
Was surprised I couldn't feel it. Hoping I don't get many side effects.

Will count tomorrow as day 1? Or today?

Welcome @insatiableme@Coffeeandallthebooks@Vics13and any other new joiners in this busy thread - there are such a lot of us just started or starting and I’m finding it a great support as I’ve only told DH and one friend who inspired me to go for it after losing over 5 stone on Mounjaro.

@Brunocatmonthat’s a worryingly low amount of calories even if you managed your tuna steak. You need to find a way to get more in. The suggestion I read is protein shakes. You can sip them slowly and it’s an easy way to get in a few 100 extra calories.

As an aside, I am not enjoying fish or broccoli any more (both of which I really like) as I find the strong flavours repeat on me, I guess due to slow stomach emptying. I don’t have massive burps or sulphur taste but did not enjoy tasting those again for hours after the meal!

Edited

Thank you, yes that's what my dd said about protein shakes.( she's on it too but ahead of me ) she also said go for avocado's too, I like those so easy to eat.

I have just got over a very horrible d&v bug too so that didn't help with no appetite.

Hello! Going to join in as well, hoping for a bit of moral support. I’m on day 5 of week 1, and the food noise is back big time today . I know I’m only on 2.5mg but I didn’t think it would wear down this quickly, Just had my usual lunch salad but going to have done bread too….

W1D5
SW 92kg
GW 70kg (I think!)
age 45, 5’7”

Crunchymum · 30/04/2025 13:02

Quick question re: electrolytes - what do people take? Just something OTC? Or even a sports drink?

I am W1 D5 and whilst there hasn't been any dramatic difference to my appetite I am managing to be a bit more mindful and I haven't had any refined sugar since the weekend (My weakness is cakes / biscuits / sweet pastries and chocolate and I haven't had any)

Will take second jab on Friday and weigh in for first time on Saturday so we'll see. I am not holding my breath though.
