I will be starting Mounjaro at the end of this week. The current April thread are mostly discussing the move onto their second 4 weeks so thought I would start a thread for those of us right at the beginning.

Does anyone take protein shakes, vitamins or collegen tablets ? Have been advised too.

I usually have protein in yoghurt not in a shake, but I know lots of people are enjoying shakes. I take vitamins B12 and D plus magnesium and a collagen powder and sometimes vit c and I took all these before MJ. I have also included an electrolyte since starting MJ as I was feeling quite dehydrated but won't take this daily, just when I feel I need it.

I don't use protein shakes and probably won't unless it gets to the point where I can't face eating. Might get some protein yoghurts but I've always eaten a fair amount of protein anyway.

I'm planning to get collagen on the recommendation of people on this thread 🙂 As standard I take fish oil, B complex and iron and won't add anything else unless I need to.

I use vidrate for electrolytes but was doing that before mounjaro. My DP has tried numerous different electrolytes and swears vidrate are the best, I've only ever used vidrate as I have them on subscription

I've just had a wobble. W1D4. I thought it had been going well, but I suspect that was placebo combined with fear of SE (I'm emetophobic). About an hour ago, I had an incredibly strong urge just to stuff myself. I wanted crisps, sweets, chocolate, popcorn, wine. I got a Tesco meal deal with a grab bag of crisps and I actually feel just about fobbed off with that. Not happy, not satisfied, but not clawing the walls either. I'm coping. I can't guarantee I won't have a glass of wine later if DH has one, but otherwise, I think I'm ok. Is this Mounjaro working? It could have been so so so much worse, based on my past experiences.

lissie123 · 29/04/2025 18:46

Just wondering if I will get accepted for the MJ by medicine marketplace if my BMI is 30.6? Due a video consultation next week.

I'm day 5 and my suppression slowed down yesterday. For the first time since injecting I'm craving a glass of wine and I've also had a bag of crisps today. Don't think the last few days have been placebo for me as the lack of wine craving was undeniable, just think maybe our levels have dropped. The graph posted further up the thread is really helpful.

Edited to add, I may have had one bag of crisps but before mj I would likely have 3 😱 so yes I think it's working for us both

Still on a 7.7lb loss here and did my third jab on Sunday. On my period and probably a bit constipated so I’m sure there’s about 2lb to come off once that all ends as I’ve been tracking calories religiously but it’s disheartening to not see the scale move.

Period and constipation sound like the culprits to me. I can easy gain 4lb when in my period.

well done though, you are losing it and it’s probs good to do it slow and steady anyway x

MsRicoletti · 29/04/2025 19:09

Second jab this morning and I’ve got a killer headache that’s plagued me since 2pm. I’ve drank nearly 2 litres of water today but this defo feels like dehydration. going to have electrolytes and some paracetamol.

Also, the constipation has struck today after avoiding it so far. appetite suppression is back in full force so may need to choke down a few prunes and hope for the best , then have some senna etc tomorrow if no joy.
I think I’ve got a few senna teabags kicking about in the cupboard and they have always helped in the past.

im ordering some psyllium husk online tonight.

Hearditonapodcast · 29/04/2025 19:13

I had my appointment with the diabetes nurse to do my first jab. Turned up at the surgery with my pen in its little cool pack, alcohol wipes ready....forgot the needle. She didn't have any either. What a plonker. She talked me through it anyway, and I decided I'll do it tomorrow evening as I WFH Thurs and then I've got Fri-Mon off work in case I have any side effects.

As I'm NHS funded, I have a target to meet though! If I haven't lost 3% of my body weight in 6 months, and my Hba1C hasn't dropped by 11 points, they'll take me off them. Fortunately, 3% of my bodyweight is 8lb, so hopefully I'll meet that 😂

wlinewbie0425 · 29/04/2025 19:55

@MsRicoletti my second jab is tomorrow and I am dreading the headache again too. I had it from morning after jab for 48h - it went away when I started taking electrolytes so we shall see if that helps this week. I was thinking about taking it earlier in day tomorrow so I can pay attention to when things start. But I also need to function well for work! It’s all a bit unknown as with more in system could be different.

W1D5 - no hallucinations today thankfully.
Went for a long walk with a friend and our dogs - did over an hour and no limping. I'm walking upstairs normally. It's amazing and an unexpected side affect. I had a triple fracture of my ankle several years ago and it really limits my life and exercise, constant pain. It's almost too good to be true.
Still no food noise and not eating much of anything.
Still vaping and drinking wine, sadly.
Early days though.

Brunocatmon · 29/04/2025 20:42

Good evening all. Still on wk1 day 1. I've eaten 258 calories today and no desire to eat more so I've made myself a tuna steak and will gently eat that over the next hour taking me to 675 calories for the day.

I realise that's way too low but how can you eat when you just don't feel like it.

Just done a 5km fast walk and I bought apple cider gummies, collagen and vit b today to add to my other bits.

Coffeeandallthebooks · 29/04/2025 21:30

Evening everyone, may I join in?
Took my first jab tonight. I was a bit apprehensive but it was all fine. Thank you to everyone who has contributed, it is very reassuring not to feel alone doing this!
SW 15 3
GW 10 7

I have the metallic taste in my mouth and so glad I know that's normal as it tastes like I've bitten my tongue!

Beachbabes · 29/04/2025 22:04

Brunocatmon · 29/04/2025 12:26

Thank you. My old pt said walking is one if the most underrated exercises x

I do weight training, had a knee operation 6 months ago so I have keep it up. GP told me it’s best for MJ too due to muscle wastage with the weight loss ?? I also talk biotin and collagen with my multivitamins and so far so good.

Chunkysewist · 29/04/2025 22:06

Welcome @Coffeeandallthebooks glad to have you with us ❤️

End of W2D1 for me, headache and stomach ache never returned after the paracetamol. I was hit by a wave of fatigue this afternoon though, had a lie down for a couple of hours and felt spritely again afterwards. Food suppression still ok. Catch you all tomorrow ❤️

FleaBeeBob · 29/04/2025 22:15

Pinkapron · 21/04/2025 16:13

What exactly is food noise? I’ve read about it lots on here, but have never heard of it before!

You eat breakfast and then ohh what shall I have for lunch, I’m snackish what shall I have and then that stays with you until lunch and then you get hit with what’s for dinner, and on it goes just thinking about what to eat and how you’ll prepare it on and on and on the thoughts are just never ending

insatiableme · 29/04/2025 22:22

hi all, i have just been approved for mounjaro
and am expecting delivery the end of this week. Just been reading everyone’s comments and it’s really useful to read allot of people need electrolytes due to the effects and vitamins. i will pick some up tomorrow. i am really looking forward to starting it but also very anxious of side effects as like others have said i need to be able to function for woke. what works best taking before bed??

Vixs13 · 29/04/2025 22:34

Hi everyone,
It’s nice reading through the comments and everyone being at the beginning like me.

Im on W1D4
I lost a bit of weight from when I first put my order in which was 14 4.

Age 40 H 5ft 3
SW 13.13
GW 10.7

Ive not been too bad with SE just a bit of mild constipation and was tired on my 2nd day.

Im smoking more than I usually do but I think that’s more of I don’t know what to do with myself if that makes sense? As I would usually be stuffing my face with sweets/chocolate or crisps instead. I’ve not had chocolate once! Not even craved it!

TheSilentSister · 29/04/2025 23:25

@Vixs13 - I feel you. I think because I don't feel like snacking, I'm vaping and drinking wine as normal. I think a lot of my over eating was due to boredom.
Tbh, it's all so new, only 1 week in.

Oh how exciting, I'd love to go to Florida with my girls! We're off to Dubai and I want to be able to go on all the waterslides with them. But mostly I'd like to be in the photos too! I lost 7 stone in lockdown just through diet and exercise and I've got so many lovely photos then, but it's all crept back on (and more!) and I've nothing from the last couple of years/holidays.

Dubai sounds great. Here's to us both getting some lovely photos this year!

Sunshineandpool · 29/04/2025 23:45

MyScaredCat · 29/04/2025 16:11

Hi 👋🏻
Im popping in here as I’m going to take my first dose tonight. I’m beyond scared but can not go on holiday in July feeling like I do now. Something has to change

Good luck! Think we were all a bit nervous to start with!

PoisonIvy89 · 30/04/2025 00:10

I've been having a bit of a wobble today.
Over the past couple of weeks since making the decision and ordering and obsessively reading about mounjaro I seem to have replaced my food noise with mounjaro noise and have lost nearly 5lbs. Which of course is great! But, now I'm sitting here thinking well clearly I can do it without medicating myself so maybe I should just leave the pen in the fridge and not take it.

But. I know this won't last, I might have another week or so of sticking to my calories and lose another lb or two but I will eventually fall off the proverbial wagon and gain those lbs back and a few more too. I've done this enough times to know how this will go. I've been gaining and losing the same few lbs for years.

I'm 20stone (minus 5 right now yay me!) and I hate to admit it, but I can't do it on my own and need help. Ok I think I've talked typed myself back in to it. I'm going to go read success stories and look at before and after pictures just to make sure!

wlinewbie0425 · 30/04/2025 05:51

@PoisonIvy89i know exactly what you mean about Mounjaro noise as I am the same with spending a lot of time researching my new obsession… however I know that will get old soon and other things will occupy my mind. The thing that won’t is the feeling of actually taking it. My ‘willpower’, or as I’m starting to understand, different physiology around food to those who stay thin, is always what gives in around 2 months into losing weight with any other diet plan. I’m not having to try any more. I really do believe this is different. If you need better inspiration pick another thread eg Feb starters and see where they all are already. It’s inspiring and that’s us in June/July!

Welcome @insatiableme@Coffeeandallthebooks@Vics13and any other new joiners in this busy thread - there are such a lot of us just started or starting and I’m finding it a great support as I’ve only told DH and one friend who inspired me to go for it after losing over 5 stone on Mounjaro.

@Brunocatmonthat’s a worryingly low amount of calories even if you managed your tuna steak. You need to find a way to get more in. The suggestion I read is protein shakes. You can sip them slowly and it’s an easy way to get in a few 100 extra calories.

As an aside, I am not enjoying fish or broccoli any more (both of which I really like) as I find the strong flavours repeat on me, I guess due to slow stomach emptying. I don’t have massive burps or sulphur taste but did not enjoy tasting those again for hours after the meal!

W2D1 for me today. Will jab at lunchtime rather than evening to be more aware of side effects. Just did my weigh in.

SW 13st 13lb
CW 13st 6lb
GW 10st 7lb
F - 45 - 5’6”

7lb loss week 1 🙂 although I didn’t weigh again on W1D1 so loss is over 9 days - I started reducing unhealthy foods 2 days early to limit side effects. This loss is typical for me at the start of a new diet. When I cut out starchy carbs, processed sugar and wine the first bit always drops off. I’ll be happy if it continues at 2lb a week or so going forward.

I was 14st 8lb - my heaviest ever - on 2nd January. I got to 13st 5lb in February before falling off the diet wagon. This time I have more faith that won’t happen.
