I will be starting Mounjaro at the end of this week. The current April thread are mostly discussing the move onto their second 4 weeks so thought I would start a thread for those of us right at the beginning.

I’ve had confirmation that my order has been dispatched today. Hoping it’s here so I can do the first injection on Friday. I’m desperate to get rid of the food noise.

It’s reassuring to see so many of us going through the same process at the same time and are able to support each other.

I have just paid for Shotsy - for £19.99 for a year I thought it was worth it. I am sensitive to side effects so may need to play around with my doses a bit so would be good to see where my levels are at.

Is it just the graph you get for that or are there any other additional features?

I recieved my first dose this morning but not going to use it till the weekend as we are away a lot during the week and I'm scared I woukdnt be able to keep it cold.

Age 64

Got a lot of weight to shift, plus I'm disabled so exercise is difficult, I'm hoping. As I lose my walking will get better as my knees are really painful.

Good luck @LordJohnGrey - I am a similar weight and am 5'3 too so got a lot to lose aswell!

Zebracat · 29/04/2025 13:46

@FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee That sounds tough for you. It may just be that it will take time for you. It also depends what you were eating before, because if it wasn’t much, you probably wouldn’t need to eat much less.
I have made a conscious decision to change my eating habits. I love carbs, especially toast, so that’s gone, stopped all biscuits and crisps. I’ve upped protein, and I eat that first, and I’m broadly counting calories. I do feel that I could keep eating at some meals, but I’m stopping at the amount I decided on before. We still have to make good choices. I keep reminding myself that for years I felt really aggrieved to be fat despite a good diet, but in reality I was having huge meals and snacking every time I was near food. It may be very different for you , I know I saw a post from someone who said she had felt no different and thought she was eating the same but nevertheless recorded a significant loss.

I thought once you had used it you didn't have to keep it refrigerated? so refrigerate before first use, but store under 30 degrees after? Have I got that right??

Just ordered my first pen, been putting it off for ages but we're going on holiday in October and I cannot spend another holiday like a beached whale, not being able to enjoy myself! I'm so nervous that it won't help, I am a massive (literally lol) comfort eater and can't imagine this ever changing, but I'm hopeful!

A holiday is my motivation too. We are going to Orlando in September and I don't want to struggle walking round the parks and I want to have photos with me in without me hating the way I look. Also last year I had to ask for a belt extender on the plane (although it was the first time I have flown with Ryan Air and I'm sure their belts were extra short!) and I really don't want to have to do that this year!

Yes, that's right.

I think you’re right, I kept my pen in the fridge until first use and it’s now hidden in my bedroom

Well done to everyone's losses. What kind of exercise are we all doing?

I have worked out for years and managed my diet fairly tightly but since menopause and HRT my weight has been creeping up and impossible to lose! Hence trying Mounjaro.
I do a kettle bells class one evening a week, an insanity (HIIT) class and Pilates and I’ve just started tentatively to run again. Currently building up to 5k. I’m finding electrolytes are helping a lot with lightheadedness and tiredness. Someone on another thread recommended vidrate sachets. Some are a bit sacchariney but others are great, and I’ve been adding them to my water every day. I’ve been feeling a lot better since starting these last week. I have arthritis in my 56 year old knees and I’ve found that Mounjaro is helping to reduce the swelling and I generally feel a lot less heavy and achy!

Oh how exciting, I'd love to go to Florida with my girls! We're off to Dubai and I want to be able to go on all the waterslides with them. But mostly I'd like to be in the photos too! I lost 7 stone in lockdown just through diet and exercise and I've got so many lovely photos then, but it's all crept back on (and more!) and I've nothing from the last couple of years/holidays.

GW 11st (would absolutely LOVE 10st)
Age 51 5ft 2"

Hi everyone
Got my pen Saturday morning by courier at 10am and had first injection done by 10.10am :) :)
I am on W1 D4 and think I am down a couple of lbs, however I know I didn't eat enough yesterday. I know this is a really stupid question, but what does your suppression feel like? I was half thinking I would feel nauseous all the time and it would turn me off food, but I don't. I didn't eat until lunchtime yesterday and only had a bowl of soup until dinner. The reason I am asking this silly question as last night I didn't know if I was hungry or was it just habit, I am an awful evening snacker. I know I have to retrain my brain to eating only when I am hungry and stop the snacks. Not sure the food noise is gone either, but I think starting MJ is just constantly on my mind as its all so new, so I guess thats why I am thinking about what I am eating etc.
No great SE thankfully, bit crampy and nauseous in the evening on Sunday but thats it really and don't wake up hungry.
Wishing you all well on this journey xx

lokijet · 29/04/2025 14:30

Just started - first 2.5 dose on Sunday - I’m diabetic T2 and switched from Trulicity
height 5.9
weight 97kg

had some upset stomach last night which I think is the reaction to the injection (in combination with my other meds) but I’m hoping it will settle down and generally is better than the trulicity

So many posts! Finding it hard to keep up. Lovely that we have lots of support for each other 😊
So I had my first injection last Thursday. Woke up with headache every day and felt super groggy with neck and back pain for the first 4 days. This seems to have passed now, but did anyone else feel like this? Haven't really felt sick or had stomach issues, nor have I felt massive suppression, although cravings have pretty much gone (which is great as the mid-afternoon cupboard raiding when WFH was getting out of control!) and have found it easier to stop eating a meal even though I haven't felt stuffed. I have also been wary of eating too much in case it made me feel sick, but have been trying to eat normally just more mindful of what I eat and how much. Like @Mounraine I am a daily weigher and I have noticed a small loss of maybe 3-4lbs so far but will just record my weekly weigh in on the same day as I take my next dose. Probably won't be a huge loser but I don't mind if it's just a couple of pounds a week as long as it's fairly consistent to keep me motivated! Also will inject somewhere else next time as despite following all the instructions, it swelled up and caused a massive bruise on my thigh 😕

YippeeAbsentmindedly · 29/04/2025 14:35

Beachbabes my suppression seems to be that my stomach still tells me I am hungry but it's easier to ignore it/get distracted, and when I am eating I don't get full so much as lose interest in eating any more.

Today for example, my tummy felt hungry from getting up, but I was busy with getting the kids to school and then myself to work, and where before I'd get to a point mid-morning where I'd have to get up and go find something to eat, today I didn't bother until I made the specific decision to stop and eat my lunch at 1.30. My stomach is telling me now to go find something to eat (Probably because I only had 200 cals of homemade chicken salad for lunch!) but I just CBA 🤷 even crisps/bread/crackers hold no appeal.

YippeeAbsentmindedly · 29/04/2025 14:37

@violetmondays I grab and squeeze a bit of my belly at the side and inject there, hasn't bruised either time and I usually bruise like a peach, so maybe give that a try.

Thanks - will probably give that a go next time. Are there any thoughts around side effects and where you inject? I thought I read something somewhere about people getting more nausea if they injected in the belly but I don't think that was official or anything.

YippeeAbsentmindedly · 29/04/2025 14:49

I haven't heard, sorry. I feel queasy when I wake up but it soon goes and no issues the rest of the time.

FLVmuXbT6Jm · 29/04/2025 15:55

Took my first dose about 20 mins ago and I definitely feel a bit dizzy and my throat is slightly sore. No breathing difficulties or anything. Did anyone else have this, it's making me a but nervous!

MyScaredCat · 29/04/2025 16:11

Hi 👋🏻
Im popping in here as I’m going to take my first dose tonight. I’m beyond scared but can not go on holiday in July feeling like I do now. Something has to change

Chunkysewist · 29/04/2025 16:25

@FLVmuXbT6Jm try not to worry, the dizzy and throat thing could be just because you were worried about doing the jab and had a bit of an adrenaline rush. I was panicking over every little twinge on my first jab too. I was convinced twice that I was going to die. I didn't and I did jab 2 today 😊

@MyScaredCat dont be scared. We are here for you ❤️ For the vast majority of people everything is fine, just a few minor side affects. I did my second this morning, early afternoon I had a mild headache and some stomach cramps, couple of paracetamol and I'm fine 😊

I think they are common side effects but you could check with your proscribing pharmacist?

I think a few of us felt weird after injecting, I felt light headed but I wasn’t sure if it was my nerves around injecting or a side effect

That’s how I felt but it really is ok, the actual injecting is easier than you think and I think those of us that have experienced side effects have found them very manageable

FLVmuXbT6Jm · 29/04/2025 16:57

I'll admit that was a bit scary, I definitely had a sore throat, dry mouth, dizziness and my lips were a bit tingly. I didn't feel particularly anxious about taking it. I'm a bit concerned about taking a 2nd dose in a weeks time though 🙁

LordJohnGrey · 29/04/2025 17:01

Does anyone take protein shakes, vitamins or collegen tablets ? Have been advised too.
