I will be starting Mounjaro at the end of this week. The current April thread are mostly discussing the move onto their second 4 weeks so thought I would start a thread for those of us right at the beginning.

Well done everyone who has lost weight! I'm w1 d5 and am currently feeling hungry ☹️ so think the suppression has worn off. I've now got DS off school with a sickness bug so am crossing everything that I don't get it too as don't know how that would impact next injection 🤞

Also unfortunately I'm not put off either coffee or vaping 😩

Chunkysewist · 29/04/2025 10:49

@StartingApril2025 i was very bloated for about 4/5 days, I feel better today though 😊

For those not feeling suppression don't forget these are the lowest doses to get your body used to the meds. The concentrations in your body will get higher and hopefully it will all kick in as it should. Although I appreciate it must feel frustrating knowing some people are getting results on their first 2.5mg jab ❤️

coffeelover69 · 29/04/2025 11:16

Hi everyone - could I join please? I started last week and have literally just done my 2nd jab this morning when I thought it would be nice to find some online support as I've not told anybody at all - when I found this group. 😄

SW - 14 0
CW - 13 8
GW - Not sure yet but I'd like it to start with an 11!
I'm 5ft 7 and 55 on HRT. Weight really crept up during covid but I've not really been happy with my weight for around 10 years, I seem to lose and put on the same 10 lbs every time I try something new.

So first week I have managed to lose 6lbs which I am very pleased with! I seemed to get supression straight away so one of the lucky ones. Not too much in the way of side-effects apart from some heart burn in the night when I drank too much wine at the weekend. I am finding that I no longer fancy anything sweet or fatty so although not actively counting calories I seem to be making better choices. Good luck to everyone on this journey - we can do this! 😘

Chunkysewist · 29/04/2025 11:28

Welcome @coffeelover69 glad to have you here 😊❤️ I did my second jab this morning too 😊

AbundanceofKatherines · 29/04/2025 11:38

Hi @coffeelover69:)

I have just downloaded the Shotsy app and noticed the most significant drop in levels is day 5 - day 6 & 7 only drop very slightly. I was feeling a bit despondent that my hunger had returned yesterday, but seeing the projection for today and tomorrow has given me more motivation.

Thanks for the suggestion!

PeachSnail · 29/04/2025 11:39

Welcome @coffeelover69! We have fairly similar stats and I also did my 2nd jab this morning.

Glad the side effects haven't been too bad for you and that you had a good loss in the 1st week!

I'm now experiencing another wave of mild nausea and some delightful burping after the 2nd dose... At least I know it went in properly I guess! I had the same last week and it cleared up after a couple of days... so hopefully will be the same this week 🤞

W1D5

The suppression is almost gone for me and I’m relying on willpower to get me through to the next dose. I’m hanging in there!

I gave up smoking a couple of months ago and I’m actually missing it more since starting MJ 😬 I think it’s just not knowing what to do with myself now I’m not snacking or smoking.

Well done on the losses everyone, a loss is a loss whatever the numbers. And remember our bodies are benefitting in other ways.

Supplements wise I’m taking Senna tablets, a multivitamin and collagen.

Someone asked about exercise, I walk the dog twice a day, walk to and from work and have started doing an abdominal workout that I found on YouTube.

I’ve taken the advice and taken lots of photos (utterly hideous experience) and put them in a hidden folder.

Hope everyone has a good day ☀️

hello everyone!!
I’ve been watching from the sidelines and finally plucked up the courage to write something!!!
im 54, 5ft 7in. The menopause weight gain has been horrendous. Previously I’ve joined Slimming World and lost 4 stone plus - I just struggle to keep it off!!!! But since the menopause hit I just cannot loose any weight!!! I have to say though, Munjaro has definitely got me in the right headspace so far to do this!!!
Delighted with my W1 loss of 7lb. No side effects other than a few vivid dreams?!!!
Im using Nutracheck to track my calories and it massively helps me to see/track what I’m eating!!
The food noise has gone and yesterday I really had no appetite - unheard of for me!!! I’ve always been a massive snacker - chocolate, crisps, biscuits, yogurts etc and now I just honestly don’t want them!!
So good luck to everyone- let’s do this!!!!!!!!

LordJohnGrey · 29/04/2025 11:55

I recieved my first dose this morning but not going to use it till the weekend as we are away a lot during the week and I'm scared I woukdnt be able to keep it cold.

Age 64
F
SW 19st 13
5ft 3in

Got a lot of weight to shift, plus I'm disabled so exercise is difficult, I'm hoping. As I lose my walking will get better as my knees are really painful.

catchingzzzeds · 29/04/2025 12:05

Welcome to all new posters 👋 It’s comforting to all be in this together

Chunkysewist · 29/04/2025 12:08

Welcome @BeachBodyAim abd @LordJohnGrey glad to have you with us!

After doing my second jab this morning I'm now getting the headache I got first week and my stomach is aching, feels like I have period pains 🤔 wrong time for that though. I'm going to have some lunch and a sit down, havnt stopped all morning.

Brunocatmon · 29/04/2025 12:08

Well done to everyone's losses. What kind of exercise are we all doing?

Chunkysewist · 29/04/2025 12:10

Brunocatmon · 29/04/2025 12:08

Well done to everyone's losses. What kind of exercise are we all doing?

I walk 3-4 times a week approx 3 miles. And I've made up a strength routine with weights that I just started today 😊

SkibidiSigma · 29/04/2025 12:14

Brunocatmon · 29/04/2025 12:08

Well done to everyone's losses. What kind of exercise are we all doing?

None at the moment except walking 😩 That needs to change but even walking has been a struggle recently, joint pain has got worse since starting mj. I plan to start swimming again soon, both pool and open water and starting on light weights

coffeelover69 · 29/04/2025 12:16

Thanks everyone ❤
Did anyone else get a metallic taste shortly after injection? Didn't happen last week.

@Brunocatmon - re exercise, I haven't done anything specific, have two dogs so get plenty of steps in so just trying to do longer walks. I'm hoping to have more energy to join a class or something similar in a few weeks though.

@SkibidiSigma - good idea about swimming though - better for the joints too

Brunocatmon · 29/04/2025 12:26

Thank you. My old pt said walking is one if the most underrated exercises x

Very similar stats to me - I am 5’6”, started at 17st 6.5 and have lost 5lb in the first 5 days!! I’m weighing daily at the moment - I’m not usually much of a slave to the scales and didn’t have any for years, but hopefully by the end of this week it’ll be the first time this decade I’ll have been under 17st! 😃

Sallycinnamum · 29/04/2025 12:44

This is the first day I think I've had proper appetite suppression.

Normally when I'm in the office I'll have a Pret sandwich, diet Coke and a bag of chocolate almonds but today I've had a small box of sushi and I'm stuffed!

RatalieTatalie · 29/04/2025 12:46

Just ordered my first pen, been putting it off for ages but we're going on holiday in October and I cannot spend another holiday like a beached whale, not being able to enjoy myself! I'm so nervous that it won't help, I am a massive (literally lol) comfort eater and can't imagine this ever changing, but I'm hopeful!

BudgieMom · 29/04/2025 12:49

Hi would love to join! Medexpres just confirmed my prescription today can't wait for it to come. I'm 5ft3 and 13st 11 would love to get down to 10st. Hopefully I won't wait long for delivery.

PeachSnail · 29/04/2025 12:55

On the topic of exercise, I was running 4 times a week and strength training once or twice a week prior to starting on MJ... So I have been hoping to be able to keep that up, but I'm struggling a bit with energy levels since eating so much less. Think I might need to reduce the intensity a bit so I don't make myself ill / exhausted...

In the podcast (shared on this thread earlier) it talks about muscles as "the engine of the metabolism"... so strength training is meant to be most important for weight loss... Problem is, I really don't enjoy it! I really love running so much prefer doing that.

PeachSnail · 29/04/2025 13:06

Welcome @BudgieMom and @RatalieTatalieGood to have you here 😊

Good news about the suppression @Sallycinnamum❤️

I would push for a referral for a sleep study. I snored, my husband used to wear ear plugs in bed. I had no symptoms but I do have high blood pressure (which OSA can cause) I was referred to tier 3 weight loss so I could have a sleeve. The consultant referred me for sleep studies prior to moving to tier 4 as part of their normal process. I have severe OSA and now use a cpap. My 'events' of stopping breathing were 48 times an hour with desaturations below 90%. I would show your GP your readings and push the snoring. I'm using Mounjaro to reduce my pre op weight as I'm now on the surgical pathway and should have my surgery by the end of this year.

When we went on holiday last year and myself and my DC were sharing a room they had to wear ear plugs and said they could still hear me snoring just not as loud! We're going on holiday in September and will be sharing a room then so really hoping the weight loss will help with the snoring.

Good luck with your weight loss and surgery.

FLVmuXbT6Jm · 29/04/2025 07:50

Morning, I'm going to take my first jab this morning - eek. It's been in the fridge a week but youngest brought a bug home from nursery last week and I was really ill with it, unintentionally I've lost 4lbs before I've ever started - lol!
Hoping it's OK to take it today, stomach feels pretty much back to normal. I've started the prebiotics to hopefully help any tummy issues.
2.5st to top of healthy weight range and then I'll see.

Good luck @FLVmuXbT6Jm

Sunshineandpool · 29/04/2025 13:32

wlinewbie0425 · 29/04/2025 08:24

good luck @FLVmuXbT6Jmyou should be fine, just drink lots of water and avoid fatty/spicy/heavy foods. If you do get side effects there are loads of reallly helpful posters on here and other threads with tips.

I haven’t got the paid version of Shotsy app @Chunkysewistis it worth it then? I love a good graph!

It still gives you the estimated level on the free version - just not in a graph.
