I will be starting Mounjaro at the end of this week. The current April thread are mostly discussing the move onto their second 4 weeks so thought I would start a thread for those of us right at the beginning.

Morning everyone. W2D1 for me.

I hopped on the scales again this morning and am another half a pound down, so fingers crossed by the end of the week I'll see a better number on the scales.

I woke feeling groggy and queasy again this morning, but no more so than before yesterday's injection. Even after the injection, I was still hungry and thinking about food but just didn't do anything about it. I definitely needed to use will power yesterday, but it was helped by the lack of motivation that MJ seems to give me. Oh, and I am yet again awake ridiculously early, which seems to be a side effect for me!

MsRicoletti · 29/04/2025 07:02

First weigh day for me.
6lb loss 🥳

im going to take my second dose now rather than tonight. as im super hungry with some food noice creeping back in and dont want to cave and eat a McDonalds today 🤣

wlinewbie0425 · 29/04/2025 07:07

Good morning and well done @YippeeAbsentmindedlyand @MsRicoletti

My first weigh in and second jab is tomorrow and feeling really positive (have done some in between scale checks and it’s going in the right direction but that’s classic for me at the start of any diet I drop loads quickly then stall for months! Hoping this will get me past the plateau.

Maximum willpower day today!

Well done on the losses @YippeeAbsentmindedly and @MsRicoletti I havnt peeked at the scale yet, waiting for my Friday weigh in. I'm getting nervous!
Doing my 2nd jab today once the kids have left for school.
I still have some suppression this morning but possibly not as strong. One thing I've found is I'm going off coffee a bit. I LOVE coffee but I can barely manage 2 cups a day now and the second is a purely functional one to wake me up a bit.
💩 Is going well, I know you are all on the edge of your seats to hear about my toilet habits! 😂 I highly recommend the psyllium husk to keep you regular. Tastes like dirt but I just hold my nose and neck it back 😊

I’m actually here for the 💩 updates as I’m scared of getting constipated.

do you just buy plain psyllium husk and mix with water then neck it?

Yeah! I bought a bag off amazon, recommended by mum, put 9g in a small glass of water, you need a little whisk thing to blend it a bit or you'll be chewing it 😂 then hold your nose and neck it. Have some squash to hand to get rid of the after taste. It tastes like wet mud smells but it's definitely doing the job for me! And I'm a poor pooper normally so being able to stay regular on MJ is a miracle!

MsRicoletti · 29/04/2025 07:35

Thanks for the claps . I’m not telling people in real life (other than my wife and she is pretty meh about the whole thing) so it’s nice to be able to celebrate here 🥳

My GP said they couldn't refer me to NHS weight management as although I have a BMI of 46 I don't have either hypertension, diabetes, or sleep apnoea. Something else too. It's annoying as my weight gain has come from medication I have to take for my mental health and I have been begging for help for 4 years. I have literally more than doubled my weight in the 4.5 years I have taken them. I've seen a health coach, taken orlistat, seen a dietician, taken metformin, saw another health coach, saw another dietician and now they want me to go to a weight loss and exercise group. The GP says it is all good evidence to show nothing is working and hopefully eventually they can refer me to a weight loss specialist.

I actually do wonder if I have sleep apnoea as I snore terribly and I just got a smart watch and it is telling me my oxygen sats are going down to the mid 80s in the night.

I would push for a referral for a sleep study. I snored, my husband used to wear ear plugs in bed. I had no symptoms but I do have high blood pressure (which OSA can cause) I was referred to tier 3 weight loss so I could have a sleeve. The consultant referred me for sleep studies prior to moving to tier 4 as part of their normal process. I have severe OSA and now use a cpap. My 'events' of stopping breathing were 48 times an hour with desaturations below 90%. I would show your GP your readings and push the snoring. I'm using Mounjaro to reduce my pre op weight as I'm now on the surgical pathway and should have my surgery by the end of this year.

It's sad that we can't share this with our friends and family but I'm glad to have you all on here to share with 😊 I know if I have a good loss and tell my mum she'd immediately be the Spanish inquisition about it. Yes I'm 43 but my mum still scares me 🫣 😂

wlinewbie0425 · 29/04/2025 07:38

@Chunkysewist I’m the same. I am still having my morning black coffee that DH delivers to me, but when I read that I realise I’m not having more during the day at all. Still have a couple of diet cokes but that’s also a big reduction. And so much more water. I already drank a good amount but now it’s ridiculous.

One more tip that I’ve seen on other threads and following people’s journeys on TikTok is - no matter how much you hate it- its worth taking extra pics or even better videos as you go to see the progress. Just prop up your phone in front of your mirror with front camera facing you and take a short video, of yourself turning 360 in fitted clothes or underwear. Or your jeans or other usual outfit. Then repeat each week. You can immediately move the video to your hidden folder so you (or anyone else!) won’t stumble upon it when looking at other pics.

I love seeing other people’s progress photos, imagine how much better it will be when it’s our own! I have a similar photo that I took in early 2021 (when IF still worked and I was just above my goal weight) before my big increase and it’s shocking how different I look.

Well done for the losses @MsRicoletti and @YippeeAbsentmindedly🎉

Good luck with that extra push of willpower today @wlinewbie0425

2nd jab for me today. Like you, @Chunkysewist, I'll be doing it once the kids have gone to school (when it's nice and quiet!)

Not looking forward to the return of the nausea... Fingers crossed it reduces as my body gets used to the MJ 🤞

FLVmuXbT6Jm · 29/04/2025 07:50

Morning, I'm going to take my first jab this morning - eek. It's been in the fridge a week but youngest brought a bug home from nursery last week and I was really ill with it, unintentionally I've lost 4lbs before I've ever started - lol!
Hoping it's OK to take it today, stomach feels pretty much back to normal. I've started the prebiotics to hopefully help any tummy issues.
2.5st to top of healthy weight range and then I'll see.

Chunkysewist · 29/04/2025 07:57

Good luck @FLVmuXbT6Jm
Ive just done my second shot. Hopefully all stays settled this week 😊

Chunkysewist · 29/04/2025 08:00

Is it just me that finds the shotsy app fascinating? I love seeing what the estimated levels in my system are.

good luck @FLVmuXbT6Jmyou should be fine, just drink lots of water and avoid fatty/spicy/heavy foods. If you do get side effects there are loads of reallly helpful posters on here and other threads with tips.

I haven’t got the paid version of Shotsy app @Chunkysewistis it worth it then? I love a good graph!

I have just paid for Shotsy - for £19.99 for a year I thought it was worth it. I am sensitive to side effects so may need to play around with my doses a bit so would be good to see where my levels are at.

Brunocatmon · 29/04/2025 08:47

Good morning everyone.

I took my first late last night so counting today as day one. I've made myself coffee as usual. I dont work on a Tuesday but it's my daughters 18th birthday on Sunday so I'll be popping into town.

Can someone tell me what supplements you're taking please.

I already take magnesium,
vit d ( soluble as it gets water in me too ),
Soluble vit c & zinc.

Oh and what exercise are people doing? I was thinking I might do a kettlebell workout at home later.

I'm 58 if that makes a difference.

Edited

Could you mix it with squash or wouldnt it mix? Or would that just add to the mud?

W1D3 - the appetite suppression is really working, I can’t believe how fast the medication works, I thought you might have to let it build in your system.
I haven’t felt hungry or wanted to snack which is a massive change for me. I’ve been tracking my calories but more so I can check I’m actually eating enough in the day while I get used to this new feeling.
I’m not going to lie, I’ve found it a bit unnerving when I haven’t been getting hungry or haven’t been able to finish meals that I could have easily have polished off last week.
Excited to see what the scales say on Sunday when I do my first weekly weigh in.

Chunkysewist · 29/04/2025 09:10

@wlinewbie0425 i havnt paid for the full version, I might do though! It tells you the estimated levels on the free version 😊

@Brunocatmon i guess you could, some people have it in coffee. For me I don't want to put myself off my favourite squash or coffee by adding the husk to it. I just chug and done 😂

StartingApril2025 · 29/04/2025 09:16

How are the vapers, smokers and nicotine addicts like myself going? I find it absolutely bizarre that my cravings have decreased dramatically and I’m not getting that nicotine rush either. So delighted with this as would love to be nicotine free too as part of this journey!
Otherwise , some appetite suppression happening too! some pains of trapped wind in my tummy last night and this morning and super bloated, anyone else? The Bloat is real! Maybe was something I ate yesterday, hard to know!

lastditchattempt50 · 29/04/2025 09:54

Morning All, well done on the fabulous losses 😀

W1D2 - woke last night with awful heartburn which I haven't had since pregnant with DS 14 years ago, took a little while to get back to sleep, so feeling a bit tired today.

Can't believe how little I ate / wanted to eat yesterday, by 8pm I made myself have something as I still didn't feel hungry, in total I managed about 950 cals....
Also, didn't have the urge to pour a glass of wine which is a very bad habit I had gotten into...

woken up this morning and still not hungry, so going to wait until lunch. I used to do 5:2 very successfully years ago so I will use this as a way to get back into the routine of not eating until lunch...

hope everyone has a great day

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 29/04/2025 10:29

I still need to read all the responses but I’m on day 5 after my first jab and apart from feeling a bit sick, I’m not feeling much at all. I feel like I’m eating just as much. It’s quite disappointing. Is anyone else feeling like this?
