I will be starting Mounjaro at the end of this week. The current April thread are mostly discussing the move onto their second 4 weeks so thought I would start a thread for those of us right at the beginning.

I think best to try dairy for yourself. I've not had any issues with dairy. I'm having whole milk with my granola, milky coffees, in my Protein shake and eating protein yogurts. I've not felt sick with any of those 😊

Edited

I only felt slightly sick, not enough to stop me eating yogurt really. And hopefully once my body is used to MJ that will disappear.

I’m having my first dose tonight. I feel pretty lucky in that I’ve been able to get it from my GP due to diabetes and blood pressure.

I have a lot to loose, won’t be posting my weight though!

I have over 10st to lose so you're not alone!

Sallycinnamum · 28/04/2025 15:09

I'm not entirely sure the first 2.5mg dose is doing much.

I think i was so anxious over the weekend that affected my appetite.

Is it normal to feel hungry? I'm just not sure what i should be experiencing!

Sunshineandpool · 28/04/2025 15:11

Has anyone found they have more energy? I've read a lot of people getting tired so wasn't expecting this. But I've got more energy than I've had for ages!

At this stage it is a very low dose so not everyone will feel an effect.

When you say you feel hungry is it physically or psychologically or both? If that makes sense!

Sallycinnamum · 28/04/2025 15:20

I'm sort of hungry but can't be bothered to eat if that makes any sense?!!

Chunkysewist · 28/04/2025 15:36

I'm kinda hungry, in the sense that I know I'm ready to eat but not in the stomach rumbling or can't stop thinking about food way. More a "yeah I could eat something" feeling.

I've had more energy recently too but I thought maybe that's because I'm eating good food now? Whereas I was stuffing myself full of crap before so I felt like crap?

MsRicoletti · 28/04/2025 15:39

I feel like I’m in this amazing sweet spot today, where I am hungry for breakfast/lunch but not thinking about it loads.. if that makes sense. Still no urge to snack or overindulge at mealtimes, but appetite is back from being totally zero so I’m enjoying food more.

I’m finding I’m naturally making really healthy choices too. Who knew I loved cherry tomatoes so much 🤷🏻‍♀️

I genuinely haven’t even considered eating crisps or drinking wine all week.. I’m shooketh !

im due to take second dose tomorrow.

I’m getting that same feeling too.

Like I know I’m ready to eat but I’m not looking to take down the next sandwich or pasty I see. I think I’m starting to recognise when my body needs fuel as opposed to reacting to the drop in blood sugar I usually have when I haven’t snacked a carb in a few hours 🤣

Chunkysewist · 28/04/2025 15:48

Lol @MsRicoletti 😂
it's weird not wanting to snack and especially to not want carbs. Crisps and chips were my downfall now I just can't be bothered to eat them 🤷 I just hope it stays this way, I'm finding sticking to my calories goals so much easier. And the suppression has held steady this week for 6 days.

AislingIrish · 28/04/2025 16:05

Hi All

I literally just took my first injection. So nervous. I really hope this works!
Stats:
Weight 12 st 11lbs
Height-5ft 5

Anyone with similar stats?

I have a really hectic family life with 3 LO-6, 3 and 1.5 years. we are forever running between after schools activities. I have a busy job which takes over my lift. I am just torn between work and kiddies. No time for managing my own weight. I have lost all confidence in myself. I have tried every diet going and really just want to become more happy in myself. I want to be able to run after my LO's without feeling like I am going to pass out.

I see others commenting that they think the 2.5 dose has done nothing? Whereas others seem to be working almost immediately. Any tips to avoiding the tiredness or nausea?

A

Zebracat · 28/04/2025 16:46

Good morning, welcome to new people. Day 3 for me. I haven’t any tips really, as I feel ok, although I am a bit more tired than usual, but this is a bonus as I usually struggle to sleep. My pharmacist told me to drink lots of water and to eat the protein on my plate first, so maybe that is good advice. I’m not sure if I have suppression. I’m ready for my meals, but I am leaving food on my plate, which is unusual. Actually I must have suppression because I’m usually a monster for carbs but that is the bit Im leaving. Porridge for breakfast, chicken and ricotta tagliatelle with green salad for lunch. Don’t know what to have for dinner, maybe an egg.

YippeeAbsentmindedly · 28/04/2025 17:03

@Sallycinnamum I'm exactly the same. I have hunger pangs, but lack the motivation to do anything about them. Or did until today, anyway. I've brought my second injection forward by a few hours and am really having to stop myself going hunting for food!

Cravingpotatoes · 28/04/2025 17:05

BonnieClydeSW15 · 28/04/2025 07:08

Ok has anyone had a side effect where you feel really cold and can’t get warm? It happened when I went to bed last night and was really weird! Seem to be ok now! 🤣

Yes! Every evening so far, ended up in a steaming bath to try and warm through. DH refused heating and fire 😂

jp35 · 28/04/2025 17:20

Can I ask which you are using please?

Yes, I know what you mean! I think that is your appetite being suppressed. You have a bit of an appetite but not enough to actually make food!

@Banana34 @Sunshineandpool I have around 9 stone to lose. Currently hovering between 18 stone 12 and 19 stone. I'm 5'6. I've also been prescribed them on the NHS, my first jab is tomorrow afternoon!

Any suggestions for a Last Supper? I vaguely remember someone saying not to go too heavy on dinner the night before your injection.

Hmm...it''s a strange one for me as I have an under active thyroid and pernicious aneamia so I'm usually so tired. I just had a walk and my legs still felt tired but psychologically I felt great! 😂

Chunkysewist · 28/04/2025 17:39

Well tea tonight will be chicken breast strips coated in Cajun seasoning, some salad and a few air fried crinkle oven chips. Maybe a cheeky blob of mayo too! I'm so rock and roll 😂

I'm generally a tired person too, I have anemia and I don't sleep very well, like you my legs are tired after a walk today but I feel happy, not mentally worn out like usual 😊

I’ve heard not to eat loads of oily or spicy food , as it might repeat on you when your digestion slows down.

i ate lightly the day before my first dose as I was worried about feeling rough. Was fine though x

Chunkysewist · 28/04/2025 17:45

@Hearditonapodcast i ate normally the night before, think it was oven pizza and oven fries. Felt like a treat but not full on last supper (like I normally do before new weight loss plans 😂) just incase there was a knock on after my jab the next day ❤️

I’m using Mounjaro from Pharmacy2U

YippeeAbsentmindedly · 28/04/2025 17:52

I've had a small bowl of chilli and nachos and I'm done, but it's like my head and my stomach are arguing with each other about whether I am still hungry.

I think there's a psychological block in there somewhere, probably the same one telling me I need chocolate. MJ is helping me realise that my body is lying to me!

@Hearditonapodcast I started the night of my birthday after fish and chips at the seaside and some Terry's Chocolate Orange 😁 I haven't had any side effects, but also haven't seen as many positive effects as others.

wlinewbie0425 · 28/04/2025 18:07

My suppression is gone, so been doing more reading about the dose and half life. The concentration of MJ in our blood halves after 5 days but then take another 5 days to half again and on and on. Which means as we go through the months the residual amounts in our system are significant. That’s why this is a loading dose. Days 6-7 of week 1 is the lowest % it will ever be after starting on it if you stick to the schedule with no gaps. This graph is helpful it shows the concentration month by month for a person who goes up a level each month. You can see that a couple of months in even at the end of the week just before injecting you are really quite high compared to the start of a week in month 1. Eg when we first inject 5 it will actually be a lot more than that in our systems due to previous doses.

So I am using this to remind me to use my willpower for another 2 days and then repeat. And to remind all of us even if some of us felt much more suppression on the low dose everyone responds differently and we all need to be patient and consult our providers to work out the optimum personal therapeutic dose. It could be 2.5 or 15! Even for me I can’t know it’s not 2.5 as later in the month it won’t drop as low as this at any point.
