I will be starting Mounjaro at the end of this week. The current April thread are mostly discussing the move onto their second 4 weeks so thought I would start a thread for those of us right at the beginning.

Hi @Undecided2025good to see you on here again! If you feel fine then there is not rule with alcohol, but I was in a similar position as was in the habit of a bottle of wine a day standard, and I was scared of feeling sick if I took it with alcohol still in my system so I had a couple of days teetotal before injecting and a couple of days after.

However yesterday, 3 days after injecting I did have 2 medium sized glasses of wine and haven’t had any negative reaction.

Maybe focus on really rehydrating today first then take it later?

Hi!
I really do feel ok, so it’s less the alcohol. Think I read somewhere that if you take it at night you may sleep through any symptoms. Think I just need to go for it 🙈

Oh wow - that sounds interesting! I'll give it a read...

It's so strange having such a profound change in appetite / hunger urges... Never experienced anything like it before. It's nice understanding a little more about what's happening inside the body and mind 🤓

Chunkysewist · 27/04/2025 08:20

@Undecided2025 i did mine as soon as it arrived in the afternoon. Weirdly I wanted to be fully awake initially to know if it would give me side effects (or kill me because I'm paranoid😂) so far so good. If you are feeling you want to go for it, go with that feeling!

Chunkysewist · 27/04/2025 08:21

@wlinewbie0425 I'll read once I'm home today, thanks for the link! I try to get as much info as possible.

Chunkysewist · 27/04/2025 08:22

@PumpKim wow that sounds complicated, who did you order through?

Gigi936 · 27/04/2025 08:26

I had my second dose yesterday, slightly hesitated because my appetite is still none existent. It's what I wanted of course, hell that's why I have started it.

But I do have a niggling anxiety that I have not felt hungry or think about food/meals. In fact nothing appeals. I am glad it's working but somehow I need to find a way to stomach healthier amount of nutritious calories.

Forcing veg and protein down twice a day. Im taking premenopausal multi vits. Are others adding nutritional/vitamin/nutritionally beneficial things into their daily intake to ensure they're not becoming deficient in anything?

wlinewbie0425 · 27/04/2025 08:39

@Gigi936i know what you mean. I am definitely not close to getting 1g protein per kg yet. I’ve bought nuts for snacking and going have a protein yogurt and protein shake each day. Then a main meal with protein and veg and swap carbs for high protein versions. I like the warburtons sliced protein pittas as so quick to just stuff salad and cheese/ham etc inside for lunch. Also adding pumpkin/sunflower seeds to salads. I used to snack on them when dieting but I haven’t wanted to snack this week so will add them to meals.

supplements wise I already take a multivitamin, vitamin D and magnesium but have now ordered collagen and started taking electrolyes. Hoping that’s got me covered but I’m still new to learning all this and scouring all the older threads for tips.

Hi @Undecided2025- I did mine at midday, which was as soon as practicable. I wanted to get
on with it but also would prefer, if there were any side effects, not to have them affect my sleep. I had none btw.

I was very nervous at the point of no return, fearful of experiencing side effects. But I needn’t have worried. Very pleased to have got on with it and even experienced a little euphoria afterwards 😃Good luck.

Chunkysewist · 27/04/2025 08:49

I take a multivit and a supplement for hair, skin and nails but will move to a collagen supplement I think. I've just started having psyllium husk, tastes like dirt but it helps me 💩 I have protein shakes here and protein yogurts to help boost my numbers. Muscle loss is a big concern for me so I'm trying to be proactive in maintaining it as much as I can 😊

MammaTo · 27/04/2025 08:54

Morning all, hope it’s not too late to join for April. First injection is in the fridge ready to be taken and I’m nervous. Currently at 15 stone now and a size 18 in clothes. I haven’t really thought about a goal weight, I just need to shift a few stone to keep up with my toddler. I can’t remember a time (even at age 8-9) where I haven’t felt like I’ve had an issue with my weight, so I think im more nervous about what happens if I lose the weight and maintaining it. But those are problems for another day I suppose.

PillSorted
They seemed to be cheaper overall when looking at costs of higher dose. They also have existing customer discounts rather than refer a friend so that felt better for me as I'm not broadcasting that I'm doing this.

Sallycinnamum · 27/04/2025 09:55

Morning all. So far, so good. Had a bit of mild nausea yesterday afternoon but I don't know whether it's psychosomatic.

Had a small meal last night and do feel quite peckish this morning but it's like I just can't be bothered to eat anything (although I will). Very odd.

Btowngirl · 27/04/2025 10:31

Hi ladies hope everyone is doing well! I’m at the end of my first week now and did really notice the suppression isn’t as good the last few days. I’ve just done my injection a day early as a want to move it back to cover the weekend during its most effective days. I’ve lost 2kg this week but I think it may really be slightly more as just got my first period post partum (6 months) so been really bloated etc. Still no side effects to report!

HormonalHairyPoppins · 27/04/2025 11:03

W1, d1. I had my first dose after breakfast. Waiting g to see if I have any side effects. Injecting was fine as I'm a former HCP and having had 3 C sections my belly is numb below my belly button. I'm hoping the appetite suppression kicks in and food noise disappears quickly.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you all for your support.

I was worried about injecting myself because I have had a panic attack before when having a blood test, and when I had to have injections in my stomach before, after an operation, it was so painful.

Also, yesterday I had a late meal with a massive dessert and I was worried about how I would feel with slow digestion.

Anyway, I read all of your supportive messages, I had a glass of wine to steady myself (not sure if that is the best idea?!?!) and went for it!!!

I took the advice about watching some videos about how to do the injections, I didn't think about it. Just followed the instructions on the video, and it was a breeze!
I didn't feel a thing.

Thank you all xx

That’s amazing, well done, i’m needle phobic too and very nearly wussed out doing this.

MsRicoletti · 27/04/2025 11:18

I’m feeling a bit nauseous today for the first time so far( I injected Tuesday afternoon).

I think it might be linked to dehydration, as I felt super thirsty this morning.l, so I’ve had a pint of water with electrolytes.

I also feel a little bit hungry for the first time since jabbing. It’s so weird as I can kind of tell my tummy is hungry, but I don’t have any urge to eat breakfast. Like a disconnect between tummy and head. And the nausea feels a bit like when you are so so hungry that you feel a bit sick?

I’m going to eat a bit of breakfast and hope for the best 🤷🏻‍♀️

StartingApril2025 · 26/04/2025 14:03

@ymemanresu I’m gona say go easy on the gum… I don’t have a vape or smoking addiction, I have a nicotine gum addiction , for well over a year and it has absolutely contributed to my weight gain as biggest side effect of long term use of the gum is insulin resistance 😵‍💫 so don’t think of swapping one for the other if you can help it! I have actually bought nicotine patches to try to use to get me off the gum, ridiculous but true! I’m more addicted to the gum that I ever was vaping!

Thank you so much for this, i had absolutely no idea. Will research this. I do think that like so many on here i could be insulin resistant. I did stop vaping for 3 months with willpower alone so i can do it, it’s the addiction noise taking over.

Ok, update…

I ate a bit and feel 100% better.

I think what was feeling was my appetite returning a bit and my body asking for food?

Ate an egg scrambled, a little bit of bacon medallion, few strawberries and few grapes… and feeling great, ready for my walk today 🥳

This is a real learning curve for me.

Coventree · 27/04/2025 12:13

Glad some healthy food helped @MsRicoletti 👏. Day 3 and still no real change here - no movement on the scales etc, but I’m eating healthy so maybe this coming week will bring some change. Off to walk the dog to enjoy the sunshine now.

Thanks, yea I feel better now. Phew!

It’s such early days Coventree… you have the right idea of just trying to eat well and move a bit more. I’m rooting for you 💪🏻

You have inspired me to get out of my dressing gown and go for a walk x

Thriftygal · 27/04/2025 13:14

Can I join? I've just this minute had my first Mounjaro pen delivered.

I think I will start tomorrow evening as my worst habit is grazing on crap throughout the week. I work at home and seem incapable of walking past the treat cupboard without constantly opening it.
I am out of the house more at the weekend so often eat much better as a result.

I've ordered some physlliam husk, electrolyte tablets and some rennies as am anxious about side effects so want to be able to hopefully cope with any that I may get.

The tips on here have been great and the support is amazing

Back from a trip out. Family ate fried chicken from a food van there, I just didn't want anything, it's so strange. I tasted my husband's food but it seemed 'meh' to me but he said it was lush. I took a protein shake with me as a backup plan and I had that. Couldn't finish my coffee from there either. Day 4 for me. I'm bracing myself for it starting to wear off. Weird thing is now im not constantly thinking about food I feel a bit lost. Like have extra time to fill now 🤷 Anyone else feeling like that?

Flowerchild547 · 27/04/2025 14:04

W2D4/5 (never sure whether to count day 1 as injection day or not) and the weekend has gone pretty well so far. I haven’t been tempted by the usual weekend treats and snacks which I normally can’t resist.
Had some pesto eggs this morning and have made myself a little snack bowl of popcorn, nuts and dates to pick on whilst I read in the sunshine!

I’ve felt this same way!!! Yesterday I binged watched Stacey’s ‘sort your life out’ programme and ended up addressing my wardrobe and many drawers/boxes of clothes … because I felt like I had nothing to do … I think it was because I wasn’t thinking about/buying/preparing/eating all the ‘nice treats’ I would usually fill my weekend with 😂

I also have the ‘Meh’ feeling about food that I would usually go wild for. I remember a few weeks ago I went to a food a market with my friend and we got some gorgeous polish cheesy pasta street food. It was massive and my mate only ate half of hers… while I was scraping my box to eat every last bit. I was thinking… how is she not inhaling every scrap of hers ? Now I understand that her brain and body probably work properly and she stopped when she was full… something I’m now just beginning to experience .

I took first dose on Tuesday afternoon, and had mega strong suppression… I think it’s wearing off a bit, but only that I don’t feel full and unable to eat all the time. Food noise still totally absent!
