I will be starting Mounjaro at the end of this week. The current April thread are mostly discussing the move onto their second 4 weeks so thought I would start a thread for those of us right at the beginning.

@TheSilentSister I did my first injection at tea time on Monday, so counted Tuesday as day 1.

I went for bottomless brunch. Managed 8 drinks (3 mimosas, 3 longer cocktails and 2 G&Ts) in 2 hours. Whether it's just the way my body reacts, I don't know, because I haven't really felt suppression as such but food has definitely been more limited. I pinched a handful of chips from the kids and am not hungry for anything else tonight.

Out of interest I jumped on the scales after I got back to compare with this morning and I have lost half a pound 🤣

Anyway, in conclusion, if you're not experiencing obvious suppression, you can at least enjoy a bottomless brunch 🤦

👋 just ordered so hopefully will be approved so going to read with interest.

So I injected Thursday evening..Friday felt a little appetite suppression not major and I was panicking thinking this wasn't going to work for me.. had a terrible night's sleep last night and today I lasted until 12 without even feeling hungry.. which for me is unheard of !! So I made sure I ate a little something.. but then this afternoon I've had a terrible headache and felt sick most of the afternoon
.it's eased off now but still not hungry . I'm praying this will be the one thing that works for me .. I'm sick of being so huge.. I'm a size 22 and have never in my adult life been smaller than a size 18 and I'm 46 now... fingers crossed this works for me as nothing else has.

Hi, I'm not sure I belong here as I haven't even ordered yet. I got very close to it, filled the forms and uploaded pics, all the way to the ordering page and chickened out. I have a big work event the first week of May and I am scared of side effects, so not sure when is best to start... also worried about telling people, I think DH will disapprove and not sure how to approach it. He thinks people can just stop eating and be whatever weight they want to be...

Wow you are the same height and weight as me, my goal is higher about 9 Stone would be my happy place. So I’m trying to go from 73kg- 62kgish.

I’ll keep scrolling have you started?

PoisonIvy89 · 26/04/2025 20:46

I haven't done my first injection yet, it's sitting in the fridge waiting for me, but I have weirdly had very little appetite or food noise since I ordered it. Damn this stuff is good, it's already working without me taking it out of the box!!!
😂

Anyways, hello, I am planning to join you all soon. May 1st will be my first injection day as I have a few days off work after that so seems like a good time to start in case of any side effects.

PumpKim · 26/04/2025 20:53

Oh my, this thread is big, it's taken me ages to get up to speed 🤣

Newbie, ordered today, just waiting for approval. Had to upload a a video, absolutely mortifying 🤣 but pretty confident I'll be approved on that basis!

@TheFoxylady I've got my fingers crossed for you 🤞🤞

@PumpKim its mortifying doing the photos etc! What did you have to do on video?

I thought the suppression was wearing off earlier today but it seems to be back 🤷 Had pork loin chop topped with apple sauce and cheese with mixed salad for tea. Couldn't face doing mash potato tonight. Calories were a bit low so I've had a protein yogurt as a top up.

TheSilentSister · 26/04/2025 21:14

I've noticed a lot of pp have quite low GW's. Maybe it's my age but I'd be happy to get back into size 12 clothes, so for me that's around 11stone. So hard to lose weight post menopause.
Anyway, currently enjoying my wine while I still have the desire but strongly hoping it goes, along with vaping. I'm expecting a lot out of this, lol.

It's nice to have others with the same stats! I think 57/58kg is probably more realistic. I've lost the weight before but it's come back in the past year with the start of perimenopause and I just can't shift it. I haven't started yet, I have a work event next week and I just can't risk the side effects for it... have you started?

I’ve the same goal weight, at least initially. I was between 10.5- 11.5 for most of my 30s (other than when pregnant) and that suits my frame fine, best to the lower end and would be in a 12 at 11 stone. I was under 9.5 on my wedding day and that looks a bit too thin on me.

My headache went away after this morning. Could be coincidence or could have been the electrolytes. I didn’t enjoy the constant dull headache for 2 days after injecting so will continue taking them. I’m still drinking lots but not quite so gaspingly thirsty as day 1 now. Appetite suppression still good and zero temptation for sugary treats. I hear that tends to come back in the day or so before next injection.

Haha I was thinking that. There was me nervous about one glass (and I am more often an 8 drinks in 2 hours when faced with a free bar kinda gal too so no judgement here!)

@YippeeAbsentmindedlyplease do report back if the booze causes any new side effects! Hope not.

I'm not aiming for size zero skinny, I'll be happy if I get to 14st! I don't know yet what size that will be but hopefully by then I'll be a lot healthier than my current 20st

I had to do a video confirming my age/DOB/height/weight and today's date then show my weight on the scale. Then a full length 360! Took me ages to get it right 🤣

TheSilentSister · 26/04/2025 22:51

@PumpKim -OMG l fee for you. I thought doing the fatty picture was bad enough. It kept getting rejected and I kept doing it and then when I logged back on - there were about 7 pics of me looking horrendous. Oh how they must laugh at us.

I’ve only applied today so fingers crossed I get approved, I always sit on the heavier side of a size 8-10 as I used to weight lift for 8 years and have a muscular build.

Peri and endometriosis surgery got me, after surgery I couldn't train hard as my core was shot and the weight crept on, my routine failed, HRT turned me into a carb eating piggy, and now even cutting to 1000 for a few weeks fairly strict, high protein all the tricks are just not working and I just keep going up and up!!

50lbstolose · 27/04/2025 00:07

Hi Everyone,

Thank you all for your support.

I was worried about injecting myself because I have had a panic attack before when having a blood test, and when I had to have injections in my stomach before, after an operation, it was so painful.

Also, yesterday I had a late meal with a massive dessert and I was worried about how I would feel with slow digestion.

Anyway, I read all of your supportive messages, I had a glass of wine to steady myself (not sure if that is the best idea?!?!) and went for it!!!

I took the advice about watching some videos about how to do the injections, I didn't think about it. Just followed the instructions on the video, and it was a breeze!
I didn't feel a thing.

Thank you all xx

50lbstolose · 27/04/2025 00:36

Thank you @MsRicoletti

I bought mine from Zavamed. I have seen that companies offer new customers deals, I am hoping to stay on 2.5 for as long as possible. Is it best to find a company and stick to it? My bmi is 32, what happens when I go below 30?

wlinewbie0425 · 27/04/2025 04:36

@50lbstolose that’s fantastic well done!

From what I’ve gathered reading other threads some suppliers may accept evidence that you started on BMI >30 eg photo of the box of previous doses. But not all. Some will treat you as a new client and not accept below 30. I do understand this as these drugs could be dangerous and open to misuse by those with either eating disorders or already low BMI looking for a a quick fix to drop a size. I listened to another podcast where a slim journalist tested the system to see if she could get her hands on it via mainstream suppliers (Boots and Superdrug) - it was not difficult as she just lied about weight. Even though she had to collect in person and was quite clearly not overweight, by that point the checks were done and noone queried. She wore a 3 stone back pack as one of them wanted a photo of scales reading. Reddit is full of threads that suggest lying about height. I read that checks are meant to include a video consultation to reduce this but I only needed photos. I suspect this will be tightened up as a next step after clamping down on advertising/codes. I thought twice about posting this here but the info is everywhere anyway and this is buried in a thread of genuinely overweight mums! TikTok is mad. There are really slim girls sharing their ‘journey’ and when I scrolled back to their pre-starting date videos they were already slim. It’s really worrying how easy it is to get hold of. Cost and honesty are the only barriers. Stopping the credit system may at least have the positive benefit of making it out of reach £ wise for vulnerable teens. Sounds like some barely paid after first dose… £1000s in credit from referrals is insane.

Hi, I’m another mounjaro newbie. I tried ozempic for two months in ‘23 but the side effects were too much and I only lost a pound. My weight has crept up to 16st 7oz and now nothing fits and my knees hurt. So took my first dose on Thursday and so far so good (no side effects). I don’t know how much is placebo effect at this stage but a bag of mini eggs lasted all day and not 5
minutes, the wine I opened on Friday still has a 1/3 left (been averaging two bottles a weekend recently) and I realised that I walked past the ice cream cabinet at Tesco without thinking about it.

I’m feeling optimistic about wt loss for the first time in years!

catchingzzzeds · 27/04/2025 07:29

@50lbstolosewell done! Good idea re the wine!

Undecided2025 · 27/04/2025 07:31

So I had a night out on Friday and a second one last night. Had intended to start last night but didn’t want to when I got home just in case. I feel fine this morning, is it silly to do it now? Not sure why I had the evening in mind to start but not sure I want to wait until tonight.

wlinewbie0425 · 27/04/2025 07:51

Hi @Undecided2025good to see you on here again! If you feel fine then there is not rule with alcohol, but I was in a similar position as was in the habit of a bottle of wine a day standard, and I was scared of feeling sick if I took it with alcohol still in my system so I had a couple of days teetotal before injecting and a couple of days after.

However yesterday, 3 days after injecting I did have 2 medium sized glasses of wine and haven’t had any negative reaction.

Maybe focus on really rehydrating today first then take it later?
