I will be starting Mounjaro at the end of this week. The current April thread are mostly discussing the move onto their second 4 weeks so thought I would start a thread for those of us right at the beginning.

Hi all, can I join you? I've just ordered my first pen. Ive tried Saxenda in the past and it worked well until it didn't so I stopped. Ive put back on the 3 stone I lost. I'm currently on tier 4 weight management with the NHS and I'm on the sleeve surgery waiting list but need to lose the weight I've regained before surgery. Im so disappointed in myself. Perimenopause has hit too. I'm waiting for the confirmation email mail to pick up my pen tomorrow, I'll start then.

I'm 48 and 5 ft 2.
Start weight today 20st. 😬🥺

first dose Tuesday afternoon .
Yesterday I ate yoghurt in AM than some pasta and chicken for tea.

Today woke up not even vaguely hungry. Had coffee and didn’t want anything else.

Got to about 1pm and still not at all hungry but felt a bit dizzy… so I’m wondering if I just have to set an alarm x3 daily and eat something rather than go on my bodies signals?

I’ve just eaten a protein yogurt and a graze box. defo not enough food but I will be eating a proper dinner.

bit worried about how suppressed my appetite is … feel like I could just not eat anything quite happily, and then would pass out with low blood sugar 😵‍💫

wlinewbie0425 · 24/04/2025 14:27

I’ve had half a protein yogurt with a handful of blueberries for breakfast and a protein shake for lunch. Definitely feel less hungry than I would expect. Whether that’s just in my head I don’t know! I am v thirsty too, has 2 full 660mls of my water bottle and about to top it up again. V glad that I work from home 😂

I don’t feel sick at all but I do have a very faint headache lingering despite all the water.

You sound very similar to me - slight dull headache and so thirsty!
Need to put protein drinks and yogurts on my shopping list for tomorrow, thanks for the reminder!

Chunkysewist · 24/04/2025 14:44

I've had granola, 2 coffees and a protein shake. I'm not hungry but trying to eat regularly. Rest of my family had popeyes for lunch, it's so weird, I knew it smelt really nice but I just didn't want it 🤷 I didn't feel I was missing anything either. Chicken gyros and salad planned for tea.
Welcome @HormonalHairyPoppins love the name!

Chunkysewist · 24/04/2025 14:48

Got my Protein bits today in tesco, plus some multi vits and skin hair nails supplements, some Calfig to help keep me regular and some pepto bismol incase nausea hits! Hopefully I'm covered for any eventuality now!

MsRicoletti · 24/04/2025 14:50

Is it normal to feel super super full after eating a small amount? This is nuts! I can usually eat vast quantities but I’ve just snacked and feel like I’ve had a three course dinner….

Undecided2025 · 24/04/2025 14:51

It’s arrived! Both excited and slightly terrified. I’m off work now til Monday but out for dinner tomorrow night, any thoughts on when to start?

RubyJuno · 24/04/2025 15:04

I ordered Tuesday and it’s already here! I want to inject Thursdays as I’m off work on a Friday… I was going to wait till next week as we’re going for an Indian meal on Sunday for my mum’s birthday but I just want to get started and not waste a whole week! So I think I’m going to do it before bed tonight. Fingers crossed for minimal side effects!

bridgetreilly · 24/04/2025 15:05

Small amount of sushi rice with prawns and veg. Not at all hungry but still slightly nauseous so am also sipping tiny amounts of coke.

I feel like that too. I just had a ryvita, a slice of ham and a slice of leerdammer, and I feel as full as if I’d had a big meal.

Chunkysewist · 24/04/2025 15:07

@Undecided2025 me personally I'd just go for it today, start as you mean to go on 😊

Chunkysewist · 24/04/2025 15:08

@RubyJuno fingers crossed for you! 🤞🤞

Flowerchild547 · 24/04/2025 15:51

I didn’t realise thirst was that common!
That was something I really suffered with last week and I’m feeling it again today!! Hoping that hydration will starve off any potential headaches!!

Chunkysewist · 24/04/2025 16:33

Just taken painkillers for a headache, tbh though I get them all the time anyway 🤷 weird not wanting to eat though.

Scousebloke · 24/04/2025 17:20

Day 5 for me. Suppression been pretty good so far. Eating way less and making healthier choices. My main carb downfall is bread and ive had none all week except one 6" subway with chicken and salad yesterday. No hunger pangs all week. Just the odd feeling of being a bit peckish which i can ignore and it doesnt get worse were as usually after an hour id be starving and eat anything i could get my hand on. Minor side effects like burping and mild headache but nothing i can not handle. Hope it continues as it feels a bit like a miracle so far.
Good luck everyone x

SkibidiSigma · 24/04/2025 17:40

I've literally just taken my first dose and pretty sure I messed it up. I've somehow managed to give myself a 2 inch scratch on my abdomen where I injected which is bleeding quite a lot, and I bent the needle 🤨 I'm also feeling a bit funny but sure that's just in my head.

I'm actually surprised I managed to inject myself at all. DP had to do them when I needed blood thinners post partum!

Like others I'm keeping this to myself, only DP and my adult DD know and I want to keep it that way for now at least!

wlinewbie0425 · 24/04/2025 17:51

So this is most definitely not in my head. Made a small bowl of airfyer veg for myself for dinner - can’t even finish it! Less than 24h in and it’s weird to finally understand what everyone meant. I don’t feel sick just incredibly full like I can’t have another bite.

wlinewbie0425 · 24/04/2025 17:53

Oh no @SkibidiSigmabut if the liquid wasn’t all over your skin then it must have gone in. Maybe you bent needle and scratched on way out?

@Undecided2025if its important to you to eat a full meal when out tomorrow night then it might be worth holding off based on the fact I can’t even eat a side portion already.

SkibidiSigma · 24/04/2025 17:54

@wlinewbie0425 that's amazing! Really hope that happens to me. Results seem to be so variable from what I've read

That's what I'm hoping, pulling it out was the bit I was most hesitant about fir some reason

toobusytoclean · 24/04/2025 17:56

First injection last night - mounjaro
Haven’t noticed any side effects, but have also still had urge to snack - boredom/habit eating as I’m marking student tests. 😩

GW 12st (realistically but lower would be amazing)

TheSilentSister · 24/04/2025 18:49

My first lot is being delivered tomorrow between 11-3 so I'll be starting!

My worry is that I don't feel hungry often but when I do eat, I find it hard to stop. I can eat a big meal and still feel like picking. The same with wine, find it hard to stop once started. MJ seems to work by suppressing appetite, so maybe it'll work for me by not feeling the need to consume as much food/wine once I get started. I'll soon find out!
