I will be starting Mounjaro at the end of this week. The current April thread are mostly discussing the move onto their second 4 weeks so thought I would start a thread for those of us right at the beginning.

Thanks for the advice on calories, my TDEE is about 2,300 apparently so I should maybe aim for 1,800. I was actually losing weight calorie counting on 2,000 but I hope the injection will help me not crave/need so many and make the food noise go away… here’s hoping.

I did the first jab about 5/6 hrs ago and so far nothing other than a bit of a headache which totally could be my imagination!

Let’s see how I feel tomorrow.

Good luck everyone!

YippeeAbsentmindedly · 24/04/2025 06:24

How's everyone doing this morning?

I've woken feeling groggy and queasy again, definitely reminiscent of early pregnancy. I also had a racing heart but that could have been due to a weird dream I was having. Jumped on the scales and I've put on 2lb 🤨 This is absolutely typical for me when trying to lose weight and I've learned to just carry on and ignore it for a couple of weeks, but I had been hoping for a good loss. Never mind, here's to day 3.

wlinewbie0425 · 24/04/2025 07:02

Day 1 - feel fine, nothing noticeable yet but it’s only been 9 hours… don’t feel hungry but that’s not unusual I often only have coffee first thing.

someone on another thread recommended 2 apps to me which I have downloaded

shotsy to keep track of when you inject and how much over the weeks.

MeThreeSixty to keep track of measurements changing as well as weight. (It estimates them from a body scan to save all the measuring).

Hello, I'm receiving my mounjaro today
SW 94.6kg
TW 60kg
5'7
worried about the side effects, I'm a gym goer who does weights too so ill be slowing the weights down and focusing more on cardio, hoping i can get rid of this c section overhang and live a healthier lifestyle.

Hawkmoth · 24/04/2025 08:58

Day 2: unpleasant burps!

Really struggled to eat yesterday and ended up with 4 v small meals. Sadly today's burps taste of yesterday's supper.

Felt a bit sick after tea yesterday, and perhaps a bit dizzy but nothing I couldn't push through.

Catherhino · 24/04/2025 09:13

Morning all, well I’ve jabbed this morning! I’d watched some YouTube videos the other day but I just used the paper instruction sheet this morning. I didn’t feel the needle at all, so I wasn’t sure I’d done it properly until I could see it coming out!
I’m working from home today but will be busy, and I’ll take the dog out at lunch time - wonder if I’ll feel hungry or not? I’ve got some cooked meat and salad in for lunch anyway so will have that.
Nervous about side effects, but it is what it is! I’ve always got rennies in the house and I’ve got peppermint tea - if the sulphur burps kick in I’ll order some peppermint capsules, but I’m hoping I don’t get them 🤞🏻😂
I think I’ve got a funny taste in my mouth and maybe the start of a dull headache, but I’m not sure if I’m imagining them because I’m expecting them iykwim. Big glass of fizzy water next to me. I’ll update later on if there’s anything significant to report!

MsSampson · 24/04/2025 09:39

So, I haven't even thought about breakfast today! Very unusual. (First jab yesterday morning).I guess I could eat toast, I don't feel sick or anything, I just haven't thought about it. Curious as to whether it's just placebo effect but also I don't really care!

I possibly need to give more thought to my diet. I think my base eating is actually pretty healthy though, it's just more that my portions are too big, and I have a particular weakness for very buttery toast, both for breakfast and as a between work and dinner snack. And snacks in general. I guess I'm hoping that if I can just stick to yoghurt and berries for breakfast, then smaller portions and no snacks it should take care of itself. I don't mind if it's slow. If that doesn't work I will rethink.

lastditchattempt50 · 24/04/2025 09:42

still waiting for my prescription to be approved :( just rang IQ doctors to be told it should be approved today or tomorrow morning at the latest, then sent out - I wanted to start on Monday but it might not arrive in time - grrrrr - I won't be ordering from them again

Anyway, good luck to all those who have recently started, I'll hopefully be joining you soon 🙏

Sheldon4k · 24/04/2025 09:47

Hi all, hope you don't mind me joining the thread! I had my first jab last night about 11pm. Feared I would be up vomiting and diarrhoea all night but nothing as yet. Think I will head to the gym before any undesired side effects kick in.
I haven't eaten yet and don't feel hungry (usually would be telling the hubby at this point to make some porridge) however im not sure whether im not actually hungry or its a bit of a mind over matter case this morning.
I am going to get something now though as I do want to maintain regular meals and will need it for the gym!
Hope all you day ones and beyond have a good day!

First injection yesterday. Some mild nausea a few hours later but feel fine this morning.

Am getting it via NHS because I have type 2 diabetes and a host of other things. My main goal is to be able to dramatically reduce the amount of other medications I currently take and improve my long term health. I do expect to lose weight, but it really isn’t much of a motivation for me.

bridgetreilly · 24/04/2025 09:54

wlinewbie0425 · 23/04/2025 22:12

Right that’s me just done it! Watched a couple of videos as was not confident about how to use the pen from the written info, was more scared of messing up the very expensive medicine than the needle - it’s totally true that you barely feel it. Day zero for me, fingers crossed the next few days are ok.

Are the rest of you keeping it in the fridge once open? I know it says you don’t have to but if we want to use the 5th dose thinking it’s probably better?

No, mine isn’t in the fridge. My NHS nurse prescriber said not to unless it’s a crazy hot summer day. She also warned about not putting it in checked baggage when flying because it’ll freeze!

Chunkysewist · 24/04/2025 10:07

Morning all! Glad to hear everyone's updates 😊 Welcome to our new joiners ❤️
Hard to tell if I have any side effects, I feel tired with a headache lurking but I pretty much feel like that daily anyway 🤷 so I'm going to assume all is well 😂
Going to Tesco this afternoon to grab some protein bits and bobs. I've got homemade granola for breakfast. Let's do this 💪

Sallycinnamum · 24/04/2025 10:15

I'm doing my jab tomorrow evening. I really need to stop looking at TikTok and all the bad side effects!

Feel very anxious as I'm mildly emetophobic so being sick is not something I handle very well.

Think I've just got to get on with it and suck it up basically. I won't know until I try!

Sounds like we are in the same boat, how easy did you find getting your prescription? My pharmacy (Tesco) had to order it in so I've not been able to collect it yet, but I'm having my first jab with the practice nurse next week so I'm not panicking yet.

Edited

It took a week or so, but I needed to take that time anyway because I’d just started on something else and they like you to give your body chance to get used to one drug before starting the next.

Chunkysewist · 24/04/2025 10:35

@Sallycinnamum Ive been the same, was reading alot of comments on Facebook pages etc and got myself worked up. I decided I won't know unless I try it myself. So far so good, fingers crossed 🤞

Do you put the pen in a clear bag in your hand luggage, coz it’s under 50ml?

Chunkysewist · 24/04/2025 11:03

Just downloaded shotsy, it's good! Thanks for the recommendation 😊 @wlinewbie0425

SparklyGlitterballs · 24/04/2025 11:24

I'm currently W1D4 and thought I was doing well to have avoided the headaches/nausea etc but OMG the fluid output! I'm 60 with a weak bladder anyway (thanks menopause!) and I never drink enough. I've been trying to up my fluid intake but find that within minutes of having a drink I'm off to the loo again. I've been up multiple times the last couple of nights. Makes going out even more difficult as I have to be near a loo. Hoping this bit calms down in time.

Chunkysewist · 24/04/2025 11:55

Just downloaded the methreesixty app, wow I'd make an ugly mannequin! 😂

@SparklyGlitterballs I'm trying to drink more too but, like you, the output is so frequent I don't want to be too far from a loo! I think our bodies will adjust somewhat once it knows the extra fluid is going to be a regular thing....i hope so anyway! 😂

AbundanceofKatherines · 24/04/2025 12:17

I’ve just taken my first dose! My goodness, that’s a scary thing to do!

60 years old, 5’ 3”, 12st 7.5 and a 42 (!) inch waste.

I’m very nervous about side effects but need to do something about my unhealthy life.

I assume so. Obviously needles can go in checked luggage.

frogswimming · 24/04/2025 13:30

All I’ve had to eat so far today is a protein yoghurt. What’s everyone eating today?

I had some leftover chilli for lunch. No breakfast. I feel fine now, not overly full, but contented. Incredibly thirsty though and I swear I've been for a wee twenty times.

I start a new job on Monday and I hope they don't think I'm really weird! Might have to train my bladder....

ymemanresu · 24/04/2025 13:51

Protein yoghurt, orange juice, some mini quorn sausages and a few cherry tomatoes 🍅. Done nearly 12 k steps.
