I will be starting Mounjaro at the end of this week. The current April thread are mostly discussing the move onto their second 4 weeks so thought I would start a thread for those of us right at the beginning.

Good luck everyone! Please can I join? I'm waiting for my application to be processed. I need this so badly.

Of course, welcome!

Chunkysewist · 23/04/2025 20:22

Well it's been nearly 5 hours since my first jab and nothing awful has happened so far! Yay! 🎉 I was very anxious. I appear to still be fat though 😤😂

YippeeAbsentmindedly · 23/04/2025 20:24

Hello to newbies 👋

Autumn before I started the WLI I was calorie counting and sticking to less than 1200. I took the first injection on Monday night and yesterday and today I've been around 1000.

I am still hungry but it's easier to ignore, if that makes sense. I noticed about 12, then got distracted multiple times and only actually ate at around 2.30, and even then I picked at it until around 4.

Had dinner at 6 and felt full quickly but now I am feeling tempted to go hunt for chocolate.

Chunky I have been weighing on a Friday morning when I go to my exercise class, but I think for WLI purposes I might do it on Sunday morning going forward as Friday will only be day 4.

Alas, me too.

Yey for no side effects, though! 👍

Chunkysewist · 23/04/2025 20:30

My usual weigh day is a Friday but jab day will be a Wednesday 🤔 I'll probably skip weighing this Friday and weigh next Friday and see how I'm doing.
I'm looking forward to hearing about everyone's losses!

YippeeAbsentmindedly · 23/04/2025 20:34

Me too. I jumped on the scales after swimming this evening and was a bit peeved I've put on over 1lb since Sunday, but then remembered I usually weigh in the morning before I've eaten. I'm really hoping to see a loss in the next couple of days! With no loss and no side effects, I'm left wondering what I'm actually getting for my money 😉

Cravingpotatoes · 23/04/2025 20:35

Can anyone suggest when not to start? Hoping for a delivery before Friday and I’d happily do it on the doorstep in front of the postie but will have to work Saturday and have a big family do Sunday…..best to wait until after the weekend do you think in case of SF??

YippeeAbsentmindedly · 23/04/2025 20:47

Are Monday and Tuesday quite quiet for you? If you're busy every day, then you could just crack on but if you have a couple of quieter days coming up where you could tick close to home and not have to see other people, then I'd do it the evening before. Taking it at night means you'll be asleep for the first 8-ish hours of having it in your system.

frogswimming · 23/04/2025 20:54

Did jab at abut 1 I think. Just started feeling a bit nauseous, nothing major but just not normal. DNS offered me some crisps and it was a hard no. Not sure if it’s placebo but does seem to be doing something already.

I just did mine as soon as it arrived and hoped for the best. No real side effects so far other than a few grumbles that could be period related.

ive read a few people saying side facts started a few day in tho, and im only 1 full day in, so I’m trying not to get too comfy 🤣

I thought it was placebo at first then it kicked in massively, really strange feeling not feeling hungry at all .

Hi to everyone! I think the worry of side effect are the worse, I will be starting mine Saturday morning all being well. I’m not too worried about general side effects as in I expect that however I do have anxiety about major allergic reaction, dropping dead, getting pancreatitis etc !! The one story of the nurse who sadly passed away always comes to mind despite the fact that Iv read 100’s of positive experiences so far! Anyone else worrying or just me?!

Definitely me! I'm a massive worrier! In my earlier post I said how I'd convinced myself I was dying twice in the first hour after my first jab today 😂 I was relieved when my husband got home so that there would be someone to call an ambulance for me if I collapsed 🙈 The kids were here but at 14 and 16 I'm not sure they'd notice anything was wrong until tea wasn't cooked!
I was scared after reading about the nurse but I'm sure something came out about her having existing gallstones? And mounjaro was only a contributing factor not the cause. Apparently over 2000 people a year die from Ibruprofen, we just don't get the stories in the news about it.
My nurse friend said she knows cardiologists who are taking it and recommending it for their patients. Plus being obese could cause us to have a stroke, heart attack, higher risk of something like 13 other cancers, it isn't necessarily a case of staying safe and fat.
So for me I weighed (excuse the pun!) it all up and decided I want my life back and I'll do this as responsibly and safely as I can 😊

Wow this thread got busy while I was away! Great to see so many people starting this week, does make me feel less alone. I have only told DH and one friend who has lost loads with it. I wont be telling any other family members as they would probably judge and won’t tell other friends for now, like someone else said it it works I would tell some close friends in future but not now in case it doesn’t agree with me.

I used my friend’s medexpress code so haven’t broken their new rules as she is a real life friend! (I got that email today too.)

I am currently sat down after a very hectic day with work and kids, deliberating doing my first injection now instead of waiting to Thursday evening, needles don’t bother me but feeling sick does. I stocked up on nuts, protein drinks and yogurt as well as a big pack of rennies today in case.

Wishing us all strong suppression and losses in the coming weeks!

Evening all, I've been looking for a support thread for late April/Early May starters, they fill up so quickly! I'm starting on Tuesday next week, the nurse sent my prescription to the pharmacy yesterday and I'll be doing my first injection with her in the surgery, which makes me less nervous. I feel very lucky to have been prescribed MJ on the NHS, I do have type 2 diabetes and a serious lung condition so the multi disciplinary team agreed this was the best thing for me, as my BMI is currently 43 🙁. It was mostly weight gain from lots of steroids and being bed bound for a while, so I'm really hoping this improves my life.

Fingers crossed 🤞🏼

wlinewbie0425 · 23/04/2025 22:12

Right that’s me just done it! Watched a couple of videos as was not confident about how to use the pen from the written info, was more scared of messing up the very expensive medicine than the needle - it’s totally true that you barely feel it. Day zero for me, fingers crossed the next few days are ok.

Are the rest of you keeping it in the fridge once open? I know it says you don’t have to but if we want to use the 5th dose thinking it’s probably better?

wlinewbie0425 · 23/04/2025 22:14

@Hearditonapodcastreally glad to hear you were able to have it prescribed, hope it comes through soon. I wonder if this will become more common if doctors begin to see a reduction in obesity related conditions, will probably be years before that filters through though.

So interesting to hear everyone’s reasons and feelings around it, glad to have the support. I will stock up on some rennie and anti sickness tablets etc I think and Iv heard people say about electrolytes but not sure what do but so need to look into that.
i am wondering / worried about types of foods that can cannot be eaten and the testing of this, Iv seen some people say they’ve eaten normal food but less of it so typical family meals while others say no could only tolerate plain proteins and veg etc. as I am not telling anyone I am on this then I wonder for occasions where food is served what to do, I suppose time will tell- I have a birthday meal, a hen do afternoon tea and il have no control over what’s served and don’t want to stick out either of I don’t eat. Time will tell I suppose how we all get on and what works food wise.

TheSilentSister · 23/04/2025 22:22

Yey, had an email at 7pm saying prescription approved and will be posted tomorrow, so in 1-3 days I'll be starting.
I've got some wine and Walkers Strong Hot Chicken Wing flavour crisps to pig out on and then that's it

Eventually everyone living with obesity will be able to access tirzepetide on the NHS, but that's likely to take around 12 years apparently. I really am one of the lucky ones, I meet all the eligibility criteria and my ICB are one of the few that are funding it already. I also have a respiratory consultant who is a huge advocate for me, and has got me onto some of the best treatments for my condition.

My obesity was caused by my health conditions and the medication I took for it, (I was previously a healthy weight and regular gym goer) but as I've gained more weight, my lung condition has worsened. It's a horrible vicious cycle, and something needs to give. I'm hopeful that losing weight will kick start my recovery.

I'm not keeping mine in the fridge, the 5th dose will still be within the 30 days. 4 jabs on days 1, 7, 14, 21 and number 5 on day 28 😁

Im a big anxiety sufferer too, prone to panic attacks and feeling close to calling an ambulance years ago.

Alcohol does this to me in high doses. Im planning on drinking nothing or very little this weekend as just don’t fancy it at all, i hope this continues.

OMG the approval photos! I was gutted I couldn’t blur my face for shame.

I wore awful old pyjamas as they are the only light coloured fitted things I have, and was concentrating so much to try and get my whole self in the picture .

I looked ludicrous and deeply cross.

i kept thinking I hope this isn’t an elaborate internet scam to blackmail me for untold riches just to get this picture back 💀

😂 I thought this too - so hideous - I kept them for (hopeful) future comparison but moved them to hidden folder in my phone. I wore gym leggings (that I bought 3.5 stone ago) and a tight vest to show me at worst without actually showing much flesh. I didn’t want to risk not looking as bad as I am and not getting approved.
