Anyone else feeling really grateful that they started in June 2024 with the likely price increase from September?

I wouldn’t have been able to easily afford the increase in cost (likely at all) so really glad I’m at GW/ maintaining.

I’ve bulk ordered two pens from Oushk and have one in the fridge.. then that’ll likely be it for me! Did manage to tilter down to 2.5mg over the last few months so hoping that’s enough.

JomonotFomo · 14/08/2025 18:47

Really grateful. I’m nearly 6st down and maintaining (with the help of MJ) I had planned to do so long term so no idea what the future will hold.
Really sad for anyone just starting out, I stated Saxenda the year before and lost about 3st. Then they ran out of stock and I piled it all back on again and couldn’t afford the cost of wegovy. I was devastated because Saxenda worked, and without it I felt hopeless. I eat better now, rarely drink alcohol and move a lot more but it would be easy to pile it back on.

Time4changeagain · 14/08/2025 19:15

Yes, I’m grateful I started when I did too. I’m at goal weight now but still ordered the higher dose pen & counted clicks. I’m really glad I did now as I have a few pens left to titrate down. There’s no way I could afford MJ with a big price increase.
My friend still has a long way to go & is now worried that she won’t be able to continue.

Snozzlemaid · 14/08/2025 20:09

Very pleased I started when I did and have got to a 6 stone loss. But I still have a couple to go to get to my goal.
Thankfully I have a bit of a stock pile in the fridge and have just now placed an order. I had 3 pens ready to take in the fridge and then ended up in hospital so had to stop and then restart at 2.5 again.
I was expecting to stay on this long term once I reached goal to maintain but I’ll have to see what the prices are when I get there.
Whilst I could afford more I’m not sure I can justify paying £300 for a pen.

On another note I usually order from IQdoctor but notice there’s no discount code on monj at the moment. Have they stopped doing discounts?
Ive ordered from elsewhere this time to get a better price.

Time4changeagain · 14/08/2025 20:26

@Snozzlemaid i noticed that about IQ Doctor too. There was definitely a code before the news hit earlier today, my friend had used it for a price match this morning.

Snozzlemaid · 14/08/2025 20:38

Oh, wow! Didn’t realise it had been taken down so recently.

Time4changeagain · 14/08/2025 20:44

I was surprised! They do price match though so I’m wondering if they have stopped that too

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 14/08/2025 21:05

I hate to say it but yes, very, very grateful that I have got to goal before all this happened but I plan to stay on and the price will definitely dictate my dose for maintenance.

It’s horrific for those just starting /part of the way there and I really feel for them. To have the potential of changing your life the way mine has changed dangled in front of you and then snatched away for greed would probably break me!

I also worry that many of the smaller pharmacies will struggle leaving those of us in maintenance with nowhere to go as bigger ones like Medex will not take us on. Was just reading a comment from someone who reckons they have enough 15mg pens to dose 5mg for a year… 30 day rule is going out the window!

Didn’t realise prices were going up. I assume if you are on a subscription they will inform you of price rises. What are they hiking up the cost?

Megarea · 17/08/2025 08:05

I'm also glad I started when I did, but I still have bout 3 stone before I hit my goal weight so will most probably just manage the extra costs if I can. The price I've seen people from my usual pharmacy is about £100 more than I currently pay.

I’ve been in maintenance mode for 6 mths ticking over on 2,5mg and wasn’t going to buy another pen but have clicked again to reorder before price hike. Hoping they fulfil the order as that’s it I can get to Jan now and hope they sort out pricing by then. I honestly feel it’s like any other long term meds like statins that I need a low dose as it’s transformed my body and the lack of joint pain has been amazing.,I’m saving the nhs loads of future cost by living healthy and keeping my job going in my 50s. I do so wish we had a more holistic approach to the impact of drugs like these.

Megarea · 18/08/2025 16:56

Medicine Marketplace emailed this morning that my order (made on Thursday) has been dispatched

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 18/08/2025 20:29

@Megarea 🎉🎉🎉 Yay!!

My order with Pharmulous is still ‘processing’…

Megarea · 18/08/2025 20:38

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 18/08/2025 21:39

To be fair, if they use the golden dose then a 15mg pen will last 15 weeks, so they’ll only need three and a bit pens to cover a year, amazingly. But yes, forget the 30 day rule. I think a lot of people will be doing exactly the same in order to be able to afford to continue.

SunnyDreamst · 19/08/2025 11:16

I have found though after 6wks the effectiveness of the dose wans quicker. Despite keeping it in the fridge and being super hot on hygiene. But I agree more people will do this if the price goes a lot higher.

daffodilandtulip · 23/08/2025 10:13

I think I lost a lot of hair around this time last year, when I went up the doses quickly and lost loads (not a complaint!).

Dear lord, the baby hair growth at the moment is WILD!

SunnyDreamst · 23/08/2025 11:17

I’m still waiting for Zava to dispatch it will be over two weeks by the time they are saying I will still get it at the price I paid though. Thank goodness we are not in holiday until the weekend after.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 24/08/2025 07:30

Hope that works out @SunnyDreamst! I go away today so was worried about mine arriving but it is safely tucked in the fridge now👍

OP posts:
JomonotFomo · 27/08/2025 18:35

Naively went to Zava to try and order another pen before the price increase, they’ve already gone up to £199 for a 5mg pen.

SunnyDreamst · 27/08/2025 21:47

I’ve waited 2 weeks for Zava to approve and mark as dispatch they were in undated with orders they did apologise and honoured the price I paid £108. I’m hoping pen arrives tomorrow now.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 27/08/2025 22:06

@JomonotFomo bloody hell! Pharmulous have announced their pricing and 5mg will be £164.99 so I’m staying put!

I briefly hit my next small goal of losing 5 stone last Monday (got to 182.6 lbs) but I bounced back up 1.5lbs the next day. That's not abnormal especially as I had weighed after sweaty exercise before drinking anything the day before and I wasn't concerned however I've put another 3lbs over the week.

I track all calories and therefore I know I have been eating more the last few weeks but still just about within my TDEE calculation (1700 and I've set it as me being sedentary which I'm not), also have intentionally been walking over 10k steps every day this month.

I've definitely been eating more sweet stuff - homemade crumble has been featuring more heavily than it should have - and more carbs and I know that promotes water retention so I think I need to just ease myself back to the way I've been eating before where I was losing slowly but regularly and see where it gets me.

It's all so frustrating!

I have put on 10lbs on holiday. I only was off it two weeks.
The price rise is truly depressing. It goes on so easily. I honestly don't know what to do.
