I'm just hoping for maintenance now but I've lost again this week.

SW 13st 7lb BMI 36.9
CW 8st 1lb BMI 22.1

Total loss 76lbs, 40% of my body weight.

I did a graph a while back saying my aim wasn't to get to 8st, but seems I'm going there!

Can you decrease your dose any further if you're struggling to eat enough?

Always handy to have a bit of wiggle room for the difficult times but one wants to have enough weight that it's not a problem if you lose a few pounds due to illness of whatever.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 30/06/2025 17:36

@Ineffable23 my friend said that to me a while ago - not to go too low as I’d be one illness away from underweight - but I can honestly say that I’ve NEVER in my 58 years been so ill I couldn’t eat (even when hospitalised with pneumonia)! 😂😂😂

Hah, fair enough!

Colds etc don't tend to make me unable to eat but I had food poisoning so badly I lost half a stone once.

I think it also depends somewhat on your age right - if you're older it's a lot harder to rebuild muscle so if an illness means you lose muscle mass because you haven't got many fat stores, that can be more of a risk the older you get.

Ha very true! I work with toddler germs and never even get ill to be fair.

I'm not even near underweight at BMI 22 so I'm not worrying yet. Although I shall die of shock if I go under 8 stone.

Bitezbabe · 06/07/2025 11:27

I’m maintaining at 5mg and have stayed pretty much the same weight for 4 months. People keep saying ‘wow, you’ve lost more weight. Don’t get too skinny!!’ Starting to worry I’m looking haggard. Think I will lower the dose to 4 mg next month. Scared to stop altogether in case I’m ravenous all the time.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 06/07/2025 11:53

@Bitezbabe well done!! I’ve got another 4 doses of 10 left before I move down and am quite worried about how it will go.

How many extra calories are you aiming to eat to keep your weight so stable?

OP posts:
daffodilandtulip · 06/07/2025 14:33

Another pound down this week, making me exactly 8 stone and a total loss of 5st 7lbs 😯. Never in a million years would I have imagined this.

I'm going on holiday this week so I'm glad of the wiggle room, as I bought my clothes a while back and they're already a bit loose.

It's not even that the Mounjaro is making me struggle to eat. I've just got into a good routine of what I like to have for meals, I enjoy the meal and then I'm done. If I have a snacking evening, I have a couple of bits and then feel like a pig and stop 🙈. I do feel hunger but I'm not obsessed with it any more, it's just like oh yeah I'm hungry and carry on with what I'm doing.

JomonotFomo · 06/07/2025 16:52

I’m 1lb down this week and weighing in at 10st1lb.
I’ve lost 5st 11.5lb and have just 2.5 to go to hit my target of 6st loss.

I have gone back down to 5mg and am maintaining/very slowly losing weight.

TBH I don’t count calories. I’ve upped my exercise and fast. I only eat 2 meals a day . I only snack very occasionally. Never been a big drinker so hardly ever have alcohol now.
So far so good but I’m still using 4mg every 9/10 days. No idea how I will manage if I stop altogether.

daffodilandtulip · 20/07/2025 09:35

Just come back from an all inclusive holiday. I found is easy to not binge, happily ate loads of meat and veg as I genuinely didn't fancy the chips and stuff. But did have a cake each day, some cocktails - but the biggest thing was the pop was more readily available than water, so that definitely upped my calories.

I was miserable yesterday as I thought I'd put on four pounds, but I've had lots to drink and a good poo and I'm back to 8 stone today 😂

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 27/07/2025 07:08

@daffodilandtulip sounds like a great holiday and what a result!

I never thought I’d hear myself say this (write this!), but I’m trying to STOP losing! 🤦🏼‍♀️ I have just come down to 7.5 as I have been slowly losing in fits and starts and am 9lbs under target. I’ve revised my target a little (from 8st 12 to 8st 7 as I like the smaller belly at 8st 7!) but 8 st 3 has me on the cusp of looking scrawny! I really don’t think my body can take any more loss.

I have added a proper lunch back in since starting 7.5 but it’s too much food really and I don’t want dinner at all so it’s an effort to eat and I feel overly stuffed and uncomfortable. I’m hoping that more time on the 7.5 will reduce the amount of MJ in my system and allow that little bit extra but I may need to go down to 5 for eating more to be comfortable.

All this worrying about levels and amount I’m eating feels like the early days of losing and the angst over whether or not to go up a dose! 😫

OP posts:
Pashazade · 27/07/2025 07:55

@IReallyNeedThisToWork I’d drop to 5 on your next dose, you need less in your system. Plus learning to adjust to a bit less won’t hurt in the long run, but I’d be concerned if you’re struggling to eat that’s not good for you. Plus if you’re weighing less than you want that’s not good either.

Verbenabon · 27/07/2025 08:46

Hi everyone, I’m a Feb 25 starter and I’m ready to stop using Mounjaro so looking at conversations further ahead than me! Can I just ask how people are stretching their doses out whilst maintaining? Because the pens last 30 days so has this been prescribed or is it a case of using the golden dose/ dispensing differently? I’ve been on 2.5mg for 5 months so I have no lower dose to go to. Ideally I would do half doses or leave a longer time between doses but the pen won’t allow this without loads of wastage.

Pashazade · 27/07/2025 09:41

@VerbenabonI’ve gone cold turkey it’s only been two weeks, I’m doing ok so far, but I accept this may not work for everyone.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 27/07/2025 10:16

@Verbenabon I’m moving down doses rather than spreading them out so can’t offer personal experience I’m afraid.

It may be something to tentatively discuss with your provider if you’d think they’d be supportive despite it being outside the licensing.

There are people who are taking 2mg or less or spacing out their doses and I think the 30 day rule is one that only you can decide about tbh. I have pushed a pen to 35 days before and I felt comfortable with it but I’m not sure how much longer I would go tbh. I would also worry about piercing the bung too many times as every time you do there’s a possibility of introducing bacteria. Once again, it’s a matter of personal choice and how risk avoidant you are!

OP posts:
IReallyNeedThisToWork · 27/07/2025 10:20

@Pashazade thanks. As this is only my first week back down on 7.5, I will give it longer as obviously still have raised levels after being on 10mg for months. My provider has advised at least a month on each dosage.

I’m not struggling to eat, just struggling to eat MORE to stop me losing. My bmi isn’t drastically low yet and I am in regular discussion with my prescriber so not too worried as yet.

And here was me worrying I would have to maintain on 10mg considering how hard the last few lbs were to lose to get to goal! 😂😂

Snozzlemaid · 27/07/2025 11:04

Good to hear how everyone is doing. I like reading how you’re doing now you’ve reached your goal. I hope you find the right dose for you @IReallyNeedThisToWork

I finally feel it is now working for me again. I started 7.5 again this week (had to start back at 2.5 after a break due to a hospital stay). It’s felt very slow with small losses and staying the same some weeks since restarting, but I’m down 3lbs this week, which is really encouraging for me. I’m now just out of the obese BMI range again and am almost back to where I was before I got ill in March.
2 stone left to lose to get to a healthy BMI. I had hoped to be there by now, but now I hope to get there by the end of the year.

SW 18 stone 6lbs
CW 12 stone 7lbs

SunnyDreamst · 27/07/2025 13:10

Well done @Snozzlemaid you have done great keeping going after your health issues.

I’m still ticking over on 2.5mg and have actually lost 4-5lbs mainly as it’s summer I think I naturally exercise a lot, eat more salads and I’ve been having a protein yogurt for desert which has staved off any extra munchies in the evening. I’ve stretched the time between doses to 10-11d to wean myself down. I’ve stayed within same 4-5lb weight now for six months very happy here.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 27/07/2025 16:09

Great that things are working for you again @Snozzlemaidand I am so pleased that you’re feeling well and recovered from your ordeal. Fab news you’re almost back where you were!!
@SunnyDreamst amazing that you’re maintaining on 2.5 and able to stretch your doses out a bit! Are you planning on coming off?

I'm so glad I've had this set of threads and tracking the losses as I've been feeling a little like I'm standing still for a while. However checking back I can see that I lost 2.5 lbs in July which is the rate I've been aiming for.

I am tantalisingly close to losing 5 stone, but my brain has not caught up with the loss yet as I keep double-taking at myself in the mirror at pilates class 😆

SW 252.6 lb
CW 184.8 lb
Total loss: 67.8 lbs

daffodilandtulip · 05/08/2025 08:31

I have absolutely no memory of why, but today's Timehop is a photo of my fridge from a couple of years ago. I didn't realise that I'd changed my diet so much! It was full of pop, cider, cream, cheese, chocolate, calorific meals ... I didn't realise what an unconscious change I've made. I don't even think about food like that anymore.

daffodilandtulip · 05/08/2025 08:34

Also, I've maintained 8st for a month now 🙌🏼

Bitezbabe · 05/08/2025 12:47

Just wondering how people are doing? Ive dropped to 4 mg every 10 days. Some of the hunger has returned and I must admit to eating the odd packet of crisps or a biscuit or two. Managing to maintain. Scared to totally stop as think the food noise and hunger will return. Also if I stop can I restart if my BMI is normal? Think I’ll drop dose again to 3.75 and then maybe to 2.5mg. What dose are others maintaining on or have you managed to maintain even when completely stopping?

daffodilandtulip · 05/08/2025 12:59

I'm still on 5mg. I keep changing the goal posts as to when I'll stop, because I don't want to fail and get fat again. So far I'm saying after my October holiday. But for months I said after my July holiday so who knows.

I'm maintaining now but I feel like I'm eating tons. I was worried about this the past few days so started tracking again and I'm nowhere near my TDEE. And I still think I'm fat when I look in the mirror 🙈

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 05/08/2025 20:48

@daffodilandtulip well done for maintaining. My fridge still has cream and cheese (a LOT of cheese!) 😂
@Bitezbabe some pharmacies will let you restart up to a year after stopping. Depends who you’re with. I’m currently on 7.5, a couple of doses in after being on 10mg for 6 months. Still little interest in food (even the cheese!) other than breakfast and struggling to eat enough to stop losing so will be heading for 5mg next…
