I have had a scan and been in A and e for gallstones and subsequent GP follow up. No Doctor has mentioned the jabs to me.
Which you think they would have.

Yes you’d certainly think they would for something semi related. I probably shouldn’t worry, even if they do ask. Just don’t want an awkward conversation 🙈

daffodilandtulip · 16/06/2025 07:17

Had some travel injections yesterday and they asked me to pop on the scales. The first time in my life that I haven't felt mortified. (And I've also lost a pound - double checked on my own when I got back!)

Hopefully it will be a similar experience at the GP later!

thesugarbumfairy · 17/06/2025 11:20

Popping back to this thread because I'm still on my journey, although I'm not travelling far. My body is just not having any of it, in spite of being on 15mg and sticking to 1300kcal a day.

I just hit 'overweight' after 54 weeks on mj. 5 stone down. I am happy with that, but my bmi is still 27.3 and I need to get it down. As I said though, my body is being really stubborn and just likes being over 11 stones!

I've got a lot going on at home, so I'm just trying to not think too hard about it, because at the end of the day I'm a size 14 and I feel ok with that. But its not my goal. I will get there -at some point -although my bank account will be empty...

Congratulations @IReallyNeedThisToWork I saw you hit goal - amazing!

SunnyDreamst · 17/06/2025 13:06

Well done for getting as far as you have @thesugarbumfairy its a huge achievement and your body may need time to adjust at that point. Mine has sat at the same bmi for 6months now. I’m right at the top end of healthy but I shifted my focus to strength and fitness instead. Is it worth giving that a try? I now run 3x a week and do some basic strength training using dumbbells. I’ve seen changes in my body shape & on the tape measure but not on the scales. I’m a very happy size 12/14.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 18/06/2025 14:47

@thesugarbumfairy thanks! All I can say is keep at it! You e come a heck of a long way already and life can sometimes be all consuming. When you have the headspace, you will be able to make any tweaks (if needed) that you want to get things shifting.

Well approaching week 53 and meant to be in maintenance ... the travel jabs mentioned earlier in the week have given me a healthy dose of tropical diseases and I've lost 2lbs 😅

daffodilandtulip · 19/06/2025 07:10

@thesugarbumfairy have you checked your BMR and TDEE now you've lost weight - you might even be eating too little?

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 19/06/2025 11:32

Today is my Mounjaroversary!!!

One year ago today, about 8pm, I did my first ever injection. I had to get through half a bottle of wine to find the courage to jab and didn’t actually believe it would work but it was my last resort or else I was going to slide into my 60s hugely obese and die before my time. I think it was a toss up whether it would be obesity or alcohol that would kill me tbh but an early demise was definitely on the cards! I even chose this user name from desperation!

And here I am, a year later and minus 49% of my body weight, heading to the gym having completed another assignment on my route to being a Pilates instructor, feeling fit and healthy and caring about and for myself.

I don’t care what the press, social media and other people say, Mounjaro is a miraculous, life changing and life saving medication and I am so happy to have found it!

I have. And I have resigned myself to the fact I may need to drop another 100 calories (all the suggestions vary of course, but I'm on 1300 at mo and thats clearly not working) I'm also going to try to do what I've done before and vary my calorie intake per day, so couple days I will have 1500 and then others I will drop to 900. I find this a pain in the arse though as I need to monitor more closely.

SunnyDreamst · 19/06/2025 13:15

Well done @IReallyNeedThisToWork great inspiration.

@thesugarbumfairy im short and my bmr is 1400c so if actually wanted to lose any more weight I’d really have to watch hard what I eat. I choose to exercise more and eat on average 16-1800c a day in maintenance. I’ve got above average muscle mass and bone mass which helps burn abit more. But it’s hard being short,

I'm short and old - my BMR is 1080 without exercise 😭

Shmoigel · 19/06/2025 22:34

I started a year ago today and I’m 5.5 stone lighter and so much more happy. Off on a youth camp tomorrow that I also went on last year and I’m looking forward to not having crunchy knees and sweating profusely!!

I am 5 ft and down to 9st 3 and very happy to maintain that. I have stayed the same for 2 months and I have gone back down to a maintenance dose of 10mg

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 20/06/2025 10:48

@Shmoigel congratulations!! Have a great time on your camp😁

Just thought I’d add some stats from my weigh in yesterday as I haven’t done so in a while.

I have been recording my weight on the Fast800 app since 29/9/21 when I got home from a holiday during which I had to ask for a seatbelt extender and vowed NEVER to be in that situation again - I was 18st 9 bmi 49.3 at that point! (I’ve got higher weights recorded on MFP but would say that Sept in ‘21 was a turning point when I decided I HAD to start to reduce my weight!). I have included updated bmi numbers as I have recently had my height measured and seem to have shrunk from 5’ 2 to 5’ 1. I am not best pleased!!

Fast800 SW (20/5/24) - 17st 7 bmi 46.3
MJ SW (19/6/24) - 16st 12 bmi 44.6
CW 19/624 - 8st 9 bmi 22.9

A total loss since the seatbelt incident of 2021 of 10 stone!

On MJ, I have lost 8 stone 3 lbs which is just UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Ineffable23 · 22/06/2025 08:23

Congratulations on all the amazing losses. It's so fantastic to see everyone getting to goal and so many big losses.

I'm also popping back in with a no-dose maintenance update. I stopped MJ in late October last year, and put on about 9lb over 3 months which made me feel pretty nervous that I was going to undo all my hard work. (10st 9 to 11st 4).

I lost 4lb of that over a month and then bounced back up again over 2 months, and now back down to under 11 stone over about 6 weeks.

So it's a slow process without MJ and clearly very easy to undo my hard work (each 11st 4 was post a holiday so care clearly needed).

Anyway, I have decided on the weight front that I haven't been this weight since I was 24 and I sat at around 11 stone for several years, so I am going to be pretty satisfied with that. I think it was at least somewhat inevitable that I would put a few pounds back on from my lowest weight.

Anyway, my point really was that although I have put a bit of weight back on since I stopped, the food noise is fairly manageable, and the many techniques I had put in place both before and after are mainly working. I can certainly easily gain weight, but I can also lose weight, though slowly and with more mental effort.

I'm still 3 stone down since my highest weight (13st 13) and still 24lb down from when I started MJ (12st 10). It's now just under 8 months from when I stopped MJ and it's not gone dreadfully though I did have a panic when I read that article the other day. (Editing to add that I have 2 months to not regain it all before I'm past the timeline mentioned in that article!)

SunnyDreamst · 22/06/2025 08:59

Thanks for the update @Ineffable23 it’s interesting to hear your journey. I’m still too scared to stop the 2.5mg maintenance dose despite having good habits in place. I have two pens still in the fridge and need to decide soon if I buy another as I’m stretching out their usage a fair bit now. I’m not sure mentally & with my body Chemistry I can do this alone after a lifetime of being overweight.

coffeandteav · 22/06/2025 12:18

I am finding 10mg only works for a day now. I feel like I have a stone to lose but others say not. I feel like my belly is stil fat.
I may go down a dose now as I don't want to go up. I want to be able to manage by myself.
Scary though.

Ineffable23 · 22/06/2025 13:44

I definitely felt like that as well, and as indicated by the weight gain I did struggle and I think I will continue to struggle. If it were less expensive, say £50-£60 a month I would 100% stay on it at a low dose but I just felt I couldn't justify the ongoing expense.

I also hadn't been especially overweight - just hovering around BMI 26-27 for years and then went up to 34 over 2-3 years so I am hopeful my body will stick at 11 stone ish as a "set point" without it being too difficult, but who knows.

coffeandteav · 22/06/2025 14:00

That's it the cost isn't justified after a point. It does help me gain control though. I need to learn how to do this myself.

Pashazade · 22/06/2025 22:16

I think what’s worth remembering is that everyone is very motivated to stay where they’ve got to. For the first time in a long time we weigh what we want to and feel good in our bodies. I am hanging on to that come hell or high water. I had forgotten what it felt like to feel this way 15 plus years of overweight and you just slide into feeling a bit meh. I’m not doing that again!

Definitely! I've never been this motivated to not get fat again 😅. But I've never had such good habits either. So hopefully it's actually possible!

Megarea · 29/06/2025 07:30

3 weeks ago my horse mashed my leg into a tree. It's taken this long for the bruising and swelling to start going and it almost doesn't hurt now. I still have a massive hematoma on my shin and I've not been able to exercise much - however physio now says no ligament damage which is a great relief and I can start getting back to normal.
I put around 5 lbs on but lost 4 lbs of that as swelling has gone down. I suspect the last lb is sitting there in the large lump on my shin!
But the really hopeful thing for me is that with the MJ I didn't just give up and start comfort eating which I totally would have done before.

SW 252.6 lb
CW 187.4 lb
Total loss: 65.2 lbs

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 29/06/2025 11:14

@Megarea ouch! I had similar years ago (dog spooked my horse!) and I really do feel your pain!! Glad you are recovering 😁

I have had a pretty horrible week and am so proud of the fact that, with the aid of my best friend MJ, I am not sitting at the bottom of a wine bottle having turned to alcohol to cope with stress and adulting.

coffeandteav · 29/06/2025 14:57

I have put on 2lbs this week. Still on 10mg. 😭

Megarea · 29/06/2025 17:24

Thanks @IReallyNeedThisToWork my delightful cob just decided that she wasn't going through a puddle, no spooking excuse! Good thing we love them eh?
Sorry you're having a crappy week, hope you've found something nice to do for yourself this weekend and well done on not falling back into unhelpful coping methods!
Aww @coffeandteav remind yourself it's just a normal fluctuation, I'm sure it'll drop off again. I keep debating whether it's time to move up to 12.5 but haven't as yet, 10mg has been such a sweet spot of effective but no side effects.

daffodilandtulip · 30/06/2025 15:16

I'm just hoping for maintenance now but I've lost again this week.

SW 13st 7lb BMI 36.9
CW 8st 1lb BMI 22.1

Total loss 76lbs, 40% of my body weight.

I did a graph a while back saying my aim wasn't to get to 8st, but seems I'm going there!
