Welcome to the latest thread, all WL warriors welcome as always.

Congrats to us all for our achievements and NSVs so far. And props for all the support, encouragement and kindnesses throughout.

Feel we’re breaking the back of this now! Base camp is firmly in our rear view and we’re climbing on … will some start to see the summit in the distance, over the course of this thread? That is pretty darn exciting!

No matter what your pace, and if you’ve lost a microwave, a tin of paint or 192,000 bees: well done!

xx

@HoratioBum yep pick up even a full bag of sugar and even at 2.2lbs - it’s a fair weight

WoolerOwl · 24/04/2025 16:44

I don't calorie count either. Just concentrate on healthy food, not eating too much, drinking plenty, and usually two main meals each day. Fruit in between if really hungry.

aylis · 24/04/2025 17:10

Has anyone counted clicks and taken 6mg?

Yes, I'm currently taking 6.25mg from my second 5mg pen.

How was the step up? I started my second 5mg pen on Saturday, I wanted to stay on it due to side effects, but I'm so hungry and thinking about scarfing carbs all the time. Maybe 6mg would be a happy medium.

It was fine really, minimal impact, holding on to go up to 7.5. Nothing like the move from 2.5 to 5.
I'm doing another 6.25, then splitting whatever is left between 2 doses (I've worked it out as about 80ml, about 6.66mg per dose). So no 5th dose this month.

@Shefliesonherownwings I've been struggling with low mood too. It started on 5mg. I've dropped back down to 2.5mg and I've already noticed a slight improvement.

I used to seek dopamine through food. Now food doesn't bring me any pleasure but nor does anything else really. Exercise sometimes does, I get my sweat on and feel better for a while. Being creative helps too, I make something beautiful and I feel ok for a bit.

I actually haven’t had much issues mood wise but I have not got a history of depression or mood issues. I did find when something upset me it was odd as my usual way to feel better would be eat some chocolate or ice cream and that release no longer exists which is a bit odd for me.

I have seen depression can be a side effect and they don’t know exactly if it’s directly from the medication itself or from the loss of food as a release/self medication

I’m doing 6mg from my 5mg pen this week as I didn’t think the 5mg was quite enough. Have done 2 months on 5mg, so maybe it’s starting to not be as effective for me at that dose. Not sure I’m ready for 7.5mg though. Hoping I’ll get four x 6mg doses from 5mg pen, with no golden dose leftover.

How many clicks is 6mg on a 5mg pen?

Your 60 clicks then another 12 clicks

aylis · 24/04/2025 19:38

it's 48 on a 7.5mg pen isn't it?

Yes, but @WelshRarebit18 was asking for 6mg from a 5mg pen 😀

Fabulous, well done!

I’m not calorie counting either, for the exact same reason as you. No wish to replace food noises with diet noise. Works for some people, not for me. I’ve got to protect my mental health - that’s paramount. I’ve lost 2 stone in under 3 months, so it’s working for me!

Keep going!

@SpiralSister@SweetPeaGirl
im not calorie counting for similar reason.
cant replace food fixation with diet fixation!

No weight loss last week tho - not sure if that is Easter chocolate or what!

im on 3rd week of 5mg pen and tbh the effects seem to have worn off by day 3 so not sure if i need to increase dose or just be patient.

we shall see. I really don’t want to count calories if I can help it.

Yes sorry - I've got the 7.5 pen so was double checking.

My biggest NSV is I can concentrate more! I have ADHD and currently on the waitlist for medication, so procrastination can get out of control with me sometimes. Since being on the jabs (and was the same last year when I was on them) I am so focused, am more productive at work than I've been for ages!

I know it's not tested enough yet to know if that's a known side effect, but I wish it was and maybe people could make a case for it to get it through their doctors.

Oh and other NSV, similar to arse wiping... much easier for me to shave down below now I have less of a gut to pull up out of the way!

Hey @sweetpickle2 I’m also adhd but meds didn’t do it for me. MJ might tho….. we shall see!
interesting to hear you have found it to be positive

strongermummy · 24/04/2025 20:41

Mounjaroday · 24/04/2025 08:19

Well done @HoratioBum. Agree with you about that, err, more intimate NSV … I too have found the same ease of reach during my daily ablutions!

@SpiralSister @strongermummy yes and I think lots of people are working the system. One has offered to buy my golden dose. I also know someone who is sharing her partner’s Mounjaro: he takes the bigger dose, she has a smaller one each time. Both these women are already slim and BMI healthy.

Oh my! What stories.

like @SpiralSisterim surprised
I have done a golden dose but I can’t get my head around sharing a pen.

ThatJoyousHazelDuck · 25/04/2025 08:07

Forgot to post my check in yesterday as had to rush out early. Last 7.5mg dose.
0.8kg off last week.

SW 82.6kg (obese)
CW 73kg (overweight)

I would have liked to get under 70kg by the end of 7.5mg but it's very unlikely. I've never done the golden dose, I think I'll order the needles though to see if I can get closer.

Shefliesonherownwings · 25/04/2025 08:08

Hi all, has anyone used Pillsorted to order from? They are offering £60 off their first order which seems way too good to be true!

OntheTrainX · 25/04/2025 08:22

My first stumbling block since I started on 12th February - a GAIN of nearly 2lbs this morning. Ugggh.

I am currently at a weight (13 stones ish) I haven’t seen for 21 years and I’m wondering if my body is resisting further loss.

It’s nothing to do with Easter because I don’t have a sweet tooth. I did have a restaurant dinner and wine but I’ve done that a dozen times since 12th Feb with no negative impact.

Like others I don’t want to calorie count because I don’t want “diet noise”. But I might have no choice. Maybe just to get me through this barrier.

How have others managed unexpected gains?

MJSpideySenses · 25/04/2025 08:22

WI - my first ever STS. I'm not surprised. I'm off work so haven't been as active and I haven't eaten as well.

I have done 1 x 2.5mg pen and 2 x 5mg. Today will be my first 7.5mg dose.

I have learned that the quality of calories does matter. I've mainly stayed in a deficit, only straying over once this week and I don't feel great at all. My body feels like it needs fresh, clean food.

I'm positive my sister is on mounjaro. I had my suspicions when she started her diet a month before me but when we met up the other day, she was talking about sulphur burps 😂 I haven't let on that I know still, but I'm sure she knows I am too. She's looking amazing.

I'm going to have my haircut this morning. I hate sitting in front of a mirror for so long.

I'm like @SpiralSister I won't be doing the golden dose or messing with syringes. Each to their own. Can't believe someone asked to have yours @Mounjaroday!

Looking to buy some dumbbells to start toning my arms.

Does anyone have any advice on dumbbell weights? There’s a set in Argos but the heaviest is 3kg … is that a bit light?

I used to do a lot of weights when I was pre kids and had the time! I think up to 3kg for a beginner would be fine, you’d be surprised how heavy even a set of 1kg dumbbells feel if you’re not used to them.

I started with 2s and 3s. I don't personally think 1kg weights are really worthwhile.

I moved up to 5kg quite fast

WoolerOwl · 25/04/2025 08:58

End of second month weigh in this morning.

Height 173cm
SW: 100kg (BMI 33.4 obese)
First month: 92kg (BMI 30.7 obese)
Second month: 87kg (BMI 29.1 overweight)
GW: 69kg (BMI 23)

I am very happy to be in the overweight and not obese BMI category, though I know I still have a lot of belly and back fat and internal fat that needs to go.

But 13kg loss so far = a coyote!

I am just about to take my ninth jab. Am staying on 5mg for another month as I should slow the weight loss down a little at this point, and don't want too many side effects.

Two photos below to show the difference between 100kg and 87kg.

I love this thread -- it helps to hear other people's trials and successes.

Febnewbie · 25/04/2025 08:58

My main advice on starting with weights is that it's hard work if you're doing it correctly - I now do 45 min sessions with 7kg weights for arms, 10-12kg for lower body but it has taken me about 4 years to get to that point. I started with 5 mins sessions with 2kg weights.

So don't expect too much from your first few sessions and don't do the terrifying Caroline Girvan much recommended on Mumsnet until you have worked up to it, even her beginner stuff is really not good for beginners
