Welcome to the latest thread, all WL warriors welcome as always.

Congrats to us all for our achievements and NSVs so far. And props for all the support, encouragement and kindnesses throughout.

Feel we’re breaking the back of this now! Base camp is firmly in our rear view and we’re climbing on … will some start to see the summit in the distance, over the course of this thread? That is pretty darn exciting!

No matter what your pace, and if you’ve lost a microwave, a tin of paint or 192,000 bees: well done!

xx

Hi all, can I ask about those that have noticed lower moods after injecting? DH started on the 5mg and his mood is noticeably lower the day after injecting and for the next couple of days. This week is particularly bad.

He has suffered with depression and we have both experienced some significant trauma over the past few years but he was doing really well, not on any meds. Now however his mood is very bad. I’ve seen this once before when he had a severe reaction to a migraine medication but he stopped that and was then ok. This time he won’t accept it’s the injections but also won’t tell me what’s wrong (another story I know!).

Just wondered how others have been combatting the low moods? Lower the dosage maybe? It’s getting to the point of really affecting family life.

Yes I am on a low dose. I'm currently taking 1.6mg of Mj every 5 days. So far so good but it's early days.

Zibb · 22/04/2025 11:04

@Shefliesonherownwings I've been struggling with low mood too. It started on 5mg. I've dropped back down to 2.5mg and I've already noticed a slight improvement.

I used to seek dopamine through food. Now food doesn't bring me any pleasure but nor does anything else really. Exercise sometimes does, I get my sweat on and feel better for a while. Being creative helps too, I make something beautiful and I feel ok for a bit.

Shefliesonherownwings · 22/04/2025 11:19

Thank you @Zibb and @ivegotthekeyivegotthesecret. I am going to suggest DH drops down to a 3.75 dose. I’m still on 2.5 so haven’t experienced the same but his mood is noticeably lower on the 5mg dose.

sweetpickle2 · 22/04/2025 12:01

Has anyone been rejected by Zava recently? They have said I don't meet their criteria, but don't say what the criteria is.

Trying to get a 7.5mg pen having done 2.5mg and 5mg elsewhere, my BMI is currently 30.

I've replied to them but wondered whether anyone else had an issue with them. Wish I hadn't sent them my incredibly detailed and embarrassing underwear pics now!

Something to consider- the low mood might not be the injection but actually the quantity of food. If he's not eating very much and his calories are pretty low compared to how much he burns - then trying to increase his calorie intake may help quite a lot.

I was really snappy the first couple of weeks - while my brain was saying 'I'm full' - there was just an underlying tiredness that existed from not eating enough, I think anyway.

Take a look at overall calories and see if adding a few more help (e.g a slice of bread with dinner, a banana at 3pm).

Not saying it isn't the meds though. It's just something I noticed in myself.

Afternoon All,

Just checking in. Thread 5 already. Seems it has gone really quickly since the February starts.

I never would have stuck on this long if not for MJ - Or if i had i would have been bloody miserable, so to feel ok, and in a good place is like magic in itself :)

WelshRarebit18 · 22/04/2025 12:43

I’ve just completed the consultation for my next pen with Pillsorted. I tend to swap each time to get the initial discount but I had to do two videos of myself - so embarrassing! Hopefully I’ll be approved as it’s quite a bit cheaper for the 7.5mg pen than my current provider.

Im really struggling with nausea and food adversions mixed with an increase in sugar cravings. I honestly feel like how i feel when newly pregnant (defo not pregnant).
Weirdly this started last week on my 3rd 7.5mg jab. I jabbed again yesterday and feel even worse plus very tired too. I have a 10mg pen in the fridge but Im having second thoughts about moving up. Suppression is not that high which is why I ordered the 5mg

This is exactly how I’m feeling at the moment. First 4 weeks on 2.5mg I had no problem at all, moved up to 5mg as my suppression was low. First 2 weeks on 5mg were good, hardly any side effects, but ever since then (for last 3 weeks) i’ve had one or two days where I’ve been completely floored. Nausea, terrible stomach pain, diarrhoea, and vomiting. It’s making me question everything I’m eating ot whether I’m eaying too much/not enough.
I’ve stayed away from rich, greasy food but it still happens, I stick to around 1300 cals Usually two or three days after the jab, but today i feel terrible again, I jabbed yesterday (in my arm for the first time I usually jab in my stomach). I’m best friends with Pepto Bismol/buscopan at the moment!
I lost a stone in my first month (2.5mg) and 4 lbs in my second month (5mg). I was gutted with the 4lbs tbh, I suppose I was expecting more on a higher dose. Are the side effects worse in the 7.5mg? Or should I go back to 2.5? Is that something we can do? I’ve lost around 2st since middle of Jan (i’d lost some before starting MJ), but I have another 3-4 stone to lose again but don’t think I can carry on like this every week. Has anyone else had similar side effects?

Feb2025start · 22/04/2025 16:04

@Mamandherboys my side effects got drastically worse on 7.5mg, so much so that for my third dose I counted clicks to reduce back to 5mg. With 7.5 I have been so, so tired, nauseous and haven't really lost anything despite having good suppression and being unable to face anything but tiny amounts of very plain food. As I understand it it is quite normal to go back down if a higher dose isn't right for you - I discussed it with my prescriber and they said it was fine (I didn't ask about counting clicks as I don't think they can approve using the meds in any way other than as prescribed! But I don't see what issue there could be really and tbh I'm falling asleep at work etc so I feel like continuing would be quite dangerous really). They were fine with me reducing in general though. If 2.5 works best for you I'd probably just go back to that - tbh that was the best dose for me too in terms of loss, suppression and total lack of negative side effects too!

Zibb · 22/04/2025 16:08

I'm having a really rough day, struggling to even get up and do the most basic stuff. Been for a very slow walk around the park but also haven't even brushed my hair. I've eaten too much already, not even hungry and stomach hurts now.

However, I did my measurements again today, and I've lost a total of 31cm off my waist so far. Trying to focus on that positive and get back on track.

flipflop76 · 22/04/2025 16:38

Hi all, I started at the end of Feb and am 1st 4lbs down so far. I'm on 5mg and am debating doing my first golden dose tomorrow. I've got the syringes, just don't know whether to brave it or start a new pen!

OvertiredandConfused · 22/04/2025 16:50

I've worked out that, on 7.5mg, I can't really eat on Mondays (I inject on Sunday morning)! I've had overnight diarrhoea Monday into Tuesday for the last three weeks, but not so bad last night and today as I've eaten very little yesterday and today.

Anyone else the same? I think it's because that's when the medication levels are highest. It's making losses quite erratic but still heading in the same direction.

If its any help then I'd say its no worse than using the pen, and Im a wimp! The needle of your syringe might be slightly longer than the pen one so take it slow, if its 8mm you can just insert halfway, so its then the same depth of injection.
Good luck 😊

Thanks so much! In theory I should be ok as I've done IVF but that was a while ago! I worked out my pen will be just inside the 30 days since opening so should be ok. Thank you!

Evening all!

I've been AWOL for a couple of weeks. No real reason other than the kids have been off.

I had my first heavy weekend since taking mj (and probably Christmas 😂) takeaway Friday night, sat afternoon/evening drinking session and the big Easter Sunday dinner.

I put in 3lb when I weighed Monday but want at all deflated, I had a really lovely weekend. I know is not done enough steps or drank enough water but I do know I didn't pig myself like I would. I had smaller plates and only one small pudding rather than 3.

I would have chucked in the towel at this point on a "normal" diet and I think, what's the point?

Back to normal yesterday and I jumped on the scales this morning and I was down 2lb. For me weighing everyday let's me see the fluctuations and it's rewiring my brain seeing the differences. I think that makes sense.

I'll be happy if Mondays official weigh day is the same as the previous week.

Have a fantastic week everyone X

Low mood is definitely one of the things that people talk about with these medications. One of the big things that a doctor will tell you before you start is to note and report any suicidal fixations, as apparently this is a thing with MJ/Ozempic etc. Suggest he contacts his provider/GP and at least flag this with them. Not sure what the answer is though…

NSV - my superdry jacket does up on the smallest zip. I bought it years ago and I've only ever been able to squeeze into it on the outside zip. Jab day is Thursday and that's my last one, I cant afford another pen but I've lost 10% of my starting weight so I'm honestly really pleased with that. Hoping to lose a bit more on my own with some better habits instilled

Sarahyorks · 22/04/2025 20:37

Hi, there was a table put up a while ago on how many clicks to do for 3.75 dose. Does anyone have it, iv looked but can't find it.
I started MJ beginning of Feb and stayed on 2.5 as was working for me. These last few weeks I seem to have come to a standstill with weight loss and getting a bit of food noise. I don't want to move up to 5 as all side effects are putting me off ( I had hardly any on 2.5 ) I also have a new 2.5 pen in fridge.
Thanks

Good luck @ThatJoyousHazelDuck Don't be a stranger and check in whenever you want.

Day 1 of taking other meds before instead of with a meal went really well. Also on second dose of 1.6mg every 5 days and that also seems okay so far. Still very early days for both though.

If its a 2.5mg pen then you just need to take an extra 50%, so 30 more clicks x

Or 0.9ml if you're using a syringe (full 3.75)

aylis · 22/04/2025 21:22

Today is easily the hungriest I've been on 5mg, now wondering if I should have went up on Saturday instead of doing 5mg from the 7.5 pen! I was absolutely ravenous from about 2pm onwards today, to the point of scrounging around in work for treats. But, and I'm so proud of myself, I didn't eat any of them because it wasn't factored into my calories for today. I waited til I got home and had my dinner, and I'm now enjoying my factored in cup of tea and biscuit. It wasn't particularly easy and I could have eaten a horse!

sc0ttishlass · 22/04/2025 21:49

Following on from you being proud of yourself @aylis (as you should be!), I had a slice of sour dough bread with dinner and didn't eat the full piece!!! Never in my life have i known that to happen. I'm shocked..

ivegotthekeyivegotthesecret · 23/04/2025 03:18

Well done, @aylis Remember today. I'm sure horses are relieved too 😁

Also finally joining in the first stone lost. 8‰ of my weight down. Nearly threw in the towel with Mj last week. Very glad I didn't.
