Mounjaro Feb 2025 starters (thread 5!)

Welcome to the latest thread, all WL warriors welcome as always.

Congrats to us all for our achievements and NSVs so far. And props for all the support, encouragement and kindnesses throughout.

Feel we’re breaking the back of this now! Base camp is firmly in our rear view and we’re climbing on … will some start to see the summit in the distance, over the course of this thread? That is pretty darn exciting!

No matter what your pace, and if you’ve lost a microwave, a tin of paint or 192,000 bees: well done!

xx

@PurpleCoo yes as I said a few posts back , I do think it’s often a fair bit slower for those who haven’t really had to change radically what they eat or exercise, just smaller portions, cut any snacks and maybe more water and possibly a bit more excercise. A lot of those losing a lot very quickly have often had a more radical overhaul . I know when I lost 2 stone back in 2022/2023 I had a really radical overhaul of diet and excercise ( I did did sod all before) and without WLI lost 7 lbs on my first week and 2-3 lbs a week consistently for weeks - this time has been much slower and harder because I was already eating well ( just too much good stuff and maybe slightly too much wine)

aylis · 30/05/2025 23:05

Something I had forgot about is that before I started Mounjaro I was having trouble with my heels - I was in a bit of pain quite regularly, to the point my mum thought I might have heel spurs. I struggled particularly going down stairs and moved really awkwardly at times. I have just realised that I positively bounce up and down the stairs now and can't actually remember the last time I experienced any pain in either of my heels.

Also does anybody feel as if they just conk out at night? I've never really been the best sleeper and could take ages to fall over but I feel like I'm asleep within minutes these days.

@Nedwards1980 fuck off with your spamming. Imagine if every one who had a referral code shared codes on threads. You posted in about 7 threads. It's against medexpress policy too to share on social media and you'll be lucky if no one reports to medexpress which will cause you to lose any referral £ you've earned.

@purplecoo yes that same area looks the worst for me too. Proper pelvic floor exercise for a good core (not just kegels) is helping though.

@aylis Yes I also conk out though thought I was just exhausted from life which I also am!

SpiralSister · 31/05/2025 07:08

Morning! Me too, @PurpleCoo The lower stomach is a disaster area. Not helped by the undoubted fact that I have lost weight there really, as evidenced by the bagging stretch marked skin - mmm, sexy! 😂 fuck it though. Top tum looks great.

I only wish I could also agree with @aylis on the sleep. Insomnia worse than ever. I don’t think it’s MJ connected though. A lot going on elsewhere..

Weigh in! And I AM NO LONGER OBESE! High five me, warriors! 🙌🏻

SW: 15.5
CW: 12.10.5 (2.5 lbs off this week)
TL: 2.8.5
GW: 10.5
2 stone 5.5 to go..

Going up to 7.5mg now. MJ definitely wearing off towards end of week, running on willpower, which is not a bad thing. It was a good loss this week, but this last pen has been a bit up and down.

Vinted update too - I seem to have sold my entire wardrobe, apart from a few things I was able to alter. I have also bought an entire new wardrobe!

It has been so interesting, the things I want to wear now I’m a 14. Yellows, fitted things, tucking in. It’s so much fun, for me it’s one of the best things about losing weight, because I love clothes. There might be a chance I’ve replaced dopamine hits from food with buying and selling on Vinted though..😂

Have a great weekend all! 💐

Zibb · 31/05/2025 07:28

Amazing! Go you @SpiralSister! 🙌

aylis · 31/05/2025 07:57

Week 15 Day 1 (week 4 on 7.5mg)

Starting weight: 16st 5lb
Current weight: 13st 13lb
Loss this week: 3lb
Total loss: 2st 6lb

No idea where the 3lb has gone from as no changes I can feel or see.

I also need to find some weights exercises to specifically target my bingo wings, they weren't bad at all when I was bigger but since losing weight they are just bags of skin 😆

Shefliesonherownwings · 31/05/2025 10:47

Morning all, how is everyone? Week 12 day 1 for me on 5mg. 1.5lb lost last week which I’m chuffed with because I wasn’t actually that good with food and I was definitely eating more including a big tub of ice cream at the cinema last night. No idea where that loss as come from.

Even better than that though, I am comfortably wearing a lovely summer skirt that I haven’t fit in for almost three years. Off to a kids birthday party later and actually feeling good about how I look, woohoo!

WoolerOwl · 31/05/2025 11:32

I realize that my glasses keep slipping off my nose. I guess I have lost weight there too! Will need to ask the optician to adjust them.

I felt a bit down last week -- had birthday meal out and some cake and just realized how easy it was to slip back into old ways and expectations. But I have resisted all the chocolate that people have bought me, and left it in the kitchen cupboard where the teenagers and husband are slowly getting through it. Managed a time of intermittent fasting, which has made me feel much clearer headed. And back on track with regular healthy eating now.

I reckon I'm about half way there now, and I need to keep focus for this last half, as psychologically I am not quite there with the possibility of one day being 69kg, which is my aim. The fatty liver helps concentrate my mind!

SpiralSister · 31/05/2025 11:40

How did you find out about the fatty liver, @WoolerOwl ? I read somewhere that it’s incredibly common in the uk - and lots of people are completely unaware that they have it. I hope you are seeing improvements in your health now?

SpiralSister · 31/05/2025 11:47

Talking of health, I really and sincerely am looking forward to being a heathy BMI now. Determined to get there. I haven’t been there since my 20’s I reckon. And I’m 50’s now!

I haven’t always been obese though - just overweight. But comfortable there. And it’s insidious, as we were discussing last week, the pressures to give up losing once you are an ‘acceptable’ size. In times past, I would be looking at losing another half stone and leaving it there.

Not this time! This time it feels about health, not looks, thank god.

Mum2Fergus · 31/05/2025 12:03

Start weight (15 Feb 25) / BMI: 19st 9lbs / 44.4 (obese class 3)
Current weight / BMI: 16st 10lbs / 37.8 (obese class 2)

Wks 1-4 (2.5mg): -17lbs
Wks 5-8 (2.5mg): -6lbs
Wks 9-12 (2.5mg): -11lbs
Wk13 - 0lb
Wk14 - 2 lbs
Wk15 - 5lbs
Total loss: 41lbs

Wk15 weigh in this morning (wk3 on 5mgs) … and I’m down 5lbs taking total loss to 41lbs (1 pesky pound to get me to 3st!) … but I’m into the 16’s and super happy at that. No side effects and food noise hushed so will likely stick to 5mgs at next pen.

Goal 1: 10% of starting weight (27.5lbs loss) ✅
Goal 2: 10% of wk11 weight (22.4lbs loss, total 49.9 loss)
End Goal: healthy BMI (between 18.5 and 24.9 for my height)

WLINewbie · 31/05/2025 12:56

Week 16, Day 1

So last week I took my first tapering down dose of 2.5mg (from the dizzy heights of 5mg 😂) and did the same today. I plan to take 1.25mg next week and the week after then stop.

This is still dependant on how the lower dose goes of course. My sweet tooth has returned and I genuinely dont think there's any dose of MJ that will take that away! I just don't need as much these days.

Caught myself in the mirror today and I look so tired and haggard. My face has ages 10 years, it's not 'ozempic face' there's no gaunt, drawn I'm bits. I just look like I smoke 60 a day (never smoked) and haven't slept for a month.

WoolerOwl · 31/05/2025 13:43

@SpiralSister I had some lower abdominal pain and GP arranged a whole abdominal scan. It turned out to be a boring little fibroid that can be left well alone. But the scan also showed fatty liver. Since then I developed some upper abdominal pain and was rescanned, showing the same issue. So, I knew it was making me feel unwell with the pain, but I just also felt generally run down, stressed, achey, and, well, fat. Because I was.

I take some medication that makes diabetes and raised cholesterol slightly more likely. I could work out that I was likely to be insulin resistant, could end up being diabetic if I carried on like this, and needed to do something about my diet. The GP was lovely and took me really seriously, talking through the pressure on my joints, my general wellbeing, and how the fatty liver was something that was entirely reversible. She gave me some advice about weight loss, but I knew I had tried (and succeeded, and failed again) with that before. It's hard when the medication makes me hungry and a bit sicky/dizzy to just eat less and move more.

So, I researched Mounjaro. In the end, I obtained it through a private prescription that was offered on the "additional services" part of my GP website, managed by a local pharmacy. The pharmacist himself has taken it, and is full of practical advice and encouragement when I go in each month to collect my prescription.

When I read the comments on some threads about cheating or the scare stories about unknown side effects, I keep coming back to the effects of my previous obesity (for I was just into that category) being very clear and known. I was feeling them then and they would only have got worse. I would have been a burden on the NHS and had a lower quality of life. MJ has made me feel great, health, mood, and sleep wise. The upper abdominal pain has almost gone, and my creaky joints feel much springier. So I am continuing!

There is no exercise which can cure loose skin on the arms.

laundryhamper · 31/05/2025 14:03

Have been off MJ for over two weeks now due to my surgery next week.
Carb hi get has come roaring back and have put on 2kg. It’s depressing because I had hoped it might have changed my appetite for good, but no. Not sure how I could afford £229 a month permanently.

Mounjaronewbie25 · 31/05/2025 14:48

Weigh in and injection day for me.

Highest weight - 16st 9.5
Mounjaro SW on 15.2.25 - 14st 12
CW - 12st 2

Loss this week: 0.5 lb
Total loss on Mounjaro: 38 lbs (2st 10)
Total loss overall: 63 lbs (4 st 7.5)

Balanced out last weeks 3.5 lb loss with only losing 0.5 lb this week. Still an average of 2 pounds a week.

SpiralSister · 31/05/2025 14:48

Bloody marvellous, @WoolerOwl!

WoolerOwl · 31/05/2025 15:19

I do need this group to keep me going! It's a lonely old journey.

SansaClegane · 31/05/2025 16:56

Weigh in day...

SW: 210.4 lbs
CW: 164.6 lbs

That's a loss of 45.8 lbs after exactly 16 weeks!
It's definitely slowing down a bit now - but then I've also been away this week & eaten rather more crap that I would usually do (due to being on the move). Starting my second 7.5mg pen tomorrow!

Thinking more and more about maintenance now, I don't think I will stop anytime soon - way too apprehensive about piling it all back on. OTOH, how low a dose can you get away with for maintaining?

Zibb · 31/05/2025 23:07

@SansaClegane well done on your impressive loss!

Depending on how close you are to goal it might be worth booking a consult with a provider that does maintenance.

MynameisJune · 01/06/2025 10:39

Can I just have a little rant about people being weird when you lose weight and am I the only one it’s happening to?

My mum is nearly 70, she was a 10/12 when I was little. She’s now around a size 16. She keeps offering me clothes, like ‘oh I bought this, it’s far too big for me but thought you might like it’ it’s just so passive aggressive.

Both her and my sister have told me they’re dieting now and ‘losing weight the right way’ 🙄

Why can’t people just be happy for others? This is why I’ve told no one else and won’t be telling anyone. The judgement and weird behaviour is just not worth it.

MrsHero · 01/06/2025 11:36

Urgh, weighed today after a frankly difficult week food-wise and have gained a lb compared to last Saturday's weigh in. So frustrating as have had decent losses on 5mg so reordered the same dose again... first week on new pen and the losses have stopped. Kicking myself that I should have moved up! Have lost a total of 19lb in 14 weeks which is know is bang in the right 'zone' and also from a starting BMI of 30, but am desperate to reach a healthy BMI!

SpiralSister · 01/06/2025 11:37

That’s awful, @MynameisJune. I’m sorry they are behaving like that. It says everything about them and their internalised misogyny, and nothing about you and your efforts and, let’s be real, bravery. I think it’s brave to take MJ in our culture, I really do.

It will change though. Think of yourself as a pioneer!

I haven’t told my family (I rarely see them anyway). I couldn’t give a flying fuck what my mother would think, but I bet it wouldn’t be positive. She once gave me a size 20 nightie when I was a size 14. She could never bear it if I was slimmer than her!

In fairness though, the culture we live in strongly encourages us to make fat a moral issue, and to guard against being branded fat ourselves. It’s powerful stuff, and it’s a brave woman to go against the tide..
