Welcome to the latest thread, all WL warriors welcome as always.

Congrats to us all for our achievements and NSVs so far. And props for all the support, encouragement and kindnesses throughout.

Feel we’re breaking the back of this now! Base camp is firmly in our rear view and we’re climbing on … will some start to see the summit in the distance, over the course of this thread? That is pretty darn exciting!

No matter what your pace, and if you’ve lost a microwave, a tin of paint or 192,000 bees: well done!

xx

Well done to everyone with their losses and NSVs

Regarding red meat, I'm fine with it. My partner cooked us beef stir fry last night, I have made a few things with steak and I gave also eating things with beef mince.

The best thing for me is I now seem to be able to eat gluten and other FODMAPs, whereas I could only eat small amounts before otherwise I would get bloating and an upset tummy (This was pre MJ - so the injections seem to have resolved my food intolerances).

I also cook spicy food with no ill effects. Indeed I haven't felt sick or had an upset tummy since starting.

I can eat cakes/sweet things, but for the most part don't want to. I have had small portions of fish and chips and been fine, although I think when I had a larger portion it sat a bit heavy/uncomfortable the next day. I have been having chicken sausages and 5% fat burgers if I want a BBQ, and also been fine. The thought of greasy food is unappealing, but I didn't really do greasy food very often anyway. I am sticking to lower doses though and only just gone up to 5mg for injection 15 (having been on 3.75 for a while, and gradually increased from 2.5-3.75 over 3 transition doses).

Mounjaroday · 26/05/2025 13:14

MJs resolved your food intolerances? WOW. I wonder why that is? That is awesome.

OP posts:
HoratioBum · 26/05/2025 13:44

Can’t speak for food intolerances per se, but before MJ just about everything made me fart. I would wake up every morning tooting quite the bum symphony!

Now it only happens if I have a heavier than normal amount of potatoes - had a jacket spud last week for tea and was quite windy the following morning but nowhere near what I would have been and not unduly uncomfortable as I would have been previously. Without going into TMI, the condition of my 💩is much improved as well
so there’s definitely some gastric effects -who’s to say it’s not working on intolerances too.

Zibb · 26/05/2025 13:51

I never used to be able to eat cooked onions or most dairy without issues and now it's not a problem at all. It's quite interesting! I can even drink a coffee made with whole milk and be fine.

PurpleCoo · 26/05/2025 14:38

I mean, I haven't pushed myself too much, but I have been eating a bagel most days since Feb when I started. I have Weetabix sometimes. I am no longer bloated after eating certain foods. Apple used to go straight through me. My IBS (self diagnosed after a huge diet change when traveling around SE Asia and my symptoms magically resolving then too!) was very much about things going through me too quickly with specific food triggers (all high FODMAP), so I wonder if MJ slowing digestion down, plus the anti inflammatory properties are what is making the difference. I noticed my symptoms returning last week when my current dose was no longer working.

Some people's IBS are caused by other factors, such as stress, so it might not have the same magical effect on them. I had no idea this would happened when I started my MJ journey, but absolutely chuffed to bits. Gluten free bread is just awful... Living a life without that bready doughiness.... I really missed it. I now take great delight in a lightly toasted bagel with just butter on and it's heaven. But no urge to overindulge. Long may it continue

Oh now that's interesting. Can you eat raw onions as you specify problems with cooked ones? Onions and other members of the alium family are high FODMAP. I would put a small.amount of onion into things where it melts down to nothing, like a spagbol or chilli, but there is no way on earth I could cope with raw onions. The cooked ones at least are sort of broken down for you so easier to digest. Dairy is also high FODMAP.

Anyone dithering about whether to start, don’t leave it until you are old. I’m really grateful with the help Mounjaro gives me with appetite suppression as my whole adult life I’ve been overweight and struggled with one diet after another. I see this as my last chance to get on top of my weight problem which is starting to have health implications now I’m 70. I have had nausea and tiredness with 2.5 and 5 and have started to lose hair. I have been counting calories with nutracheck and struggle to reach 900 most days so I’m considering reducing dose back to 3.75 as I’m never hungry. I’ve gone off coffee and tea, most vegetables (which I used to love) and can’t stand cooking smells but I will stick with it and just try to eat as healthy as possible. It really helps to read all your stories and updates.

Raw onions are fine, as is garlic, leeks, and other high fodmap foods. It was just cooked onions and dairy. But no problems now at all, although I still don't eat a lot of dairy because I don't really like it. It's just interesting how Mounjaro has changed even my gut issues!

Goodbye 14, Goodbye 13, Hello 12!! After 6 weeks of bouncing around the same couple of pounds I've finally dropped! (Will cry if tomorrows scales say 13st something lol 🤣)

Zibb · 26/05/2025 22:18

Amazing @loobyloo1979 !

I was feeling a bit demotivated so I went in to Next and was trying on size 14 trousers and dresses. That made me feel a bit better! Although despite the major boob shrinkage they still cannot be squished into a 14 top unless it's a bit stretchy but no problem fitting into the trousers! Still haven't bought anything though, still walking around in size 20/22 clothes. I look ridiculous but I feel like I can't buy anything yet.

Mounjaroday · 26/05/2025 22:46

@HoratioBum you made me realise that I am no longer windy pops. My derrière is absolutely silent!

Nice one @loobyloo1979!

@Zibb I did a big trying on session today but didn’t buy anything either. I’m going on holiday in August so will see where I’m at, then will splash out! Do you have a trigger in mind for starting to buy things?

I’m getting weirdly obsessed with my tummy, which is very soft and wobbly now. I keep grabbing the fat roll - particularly when watching tv - and telling it that its days are numbered! Anyone else?!

Very weird start to the morning. Got up, weighed self and straight into shower. As time marched on in the shower I started to feel worse and worse, sick and faint, also wondering if I needed the loo. I was trying to rinse the conditioner out of my hair as fast as I could 😲🤣. Until I had to get out and sit on the floor, I felt awful. I said to my husband I didn't know if I was going to be sick, shit myself 🤣 or pass out. Anyway, he got me a glass of water and it passed, but it was horrible.

PerditionCatchMySoul · 27/05/2025 08:35

I’m feeling really disheartened today. I’ve been stuck at the same weight for 3 weeks now. I haven’t been as meticulous about food and have been drinking more, and it’s proved that this will be a lifelong thing. But I guess it’s also proved that when I get to goal weight, I can relax a little and not put any weight on.

but I just need to lose another 3 lbs to go down into the 13 stones….

I guess on the plus side a couple of people have now said I look great which has been a boost. I am tall so it takes awhile to notice I guess.

Half term this week so I’ll probably drink more wine - I so wish MJ had removed the desire!

Zibb · 27/05/2025 12:17

@Hangryfastjo sounds scary, glad you're feeling better!

@PerditionCatchMySoul you've got this!

I am 2kg away from my next goal of 84kg and officially lighter than my husband for the first time in 15? years. That's nice! Especially since he's almost a foot taller than me.
I'm trying not to get frustrated with how slowwwww the losses are now for me. Nutracheck dropped my daily calories to 1330 which is painful and so hard to stick to. But my maintenance calories at goal weight will be about 1600 so I gotta get used to it.

aylis · 27/05/2025 12:38

My hair seems to be falling out in handfuls. I don't know if it's the mounjaro or the summer but it feels like I'm losing half my hair every time I brush it 😫

Same. It's a normal side effect of weight loss (even without mounjaro). It's temporary and it will grow back!

Mounjaroday · 27/05/2025 14:49

@Hangryfastjo that sounds awful. Have you had that before?

@PerditionCatchMySoul great that you’ve maintained though!

@Zibb totally hear you re being lighter than DH. It felt a really important moment for me.

Only 1lb down this week. Annoyingly was just in the 12 stones a couple of days ago but I’ve drunk loads of wine not been massively strict on myself over the weekend so unsurprising bounced back up a little.

Anyway, here we go: Week 18 Day 1!
SW 103.9kg
CW 83.0kg (13.07 stone!)

Have a big long weekend coming up - lots of socialising and events - so am semi-fasting for next couple of days and upping fluids in order to land firmly into the 12 stones before I go. I know that’s crash dieting really, but sometimes I feel I need to wrestle my body into submission.

NSV! Now I have a waist and hips again, have also realised I actually possess quite long legs.

SW - 13st4
CW - 10st 11
GW- 10st 7 although will probably move it to 10 (or 9st 13)

Still plodding on, I seem to lose between 1.5 and 2 lbs each week, usually 2 so I'm happy enough with that. I'm really noticing it now, but it took at least 2 stone drop before I felt I was looking a bit better. Fully expecting it to slow down but I gave myself the whole of 2025 to sort my shit out so I'm not going to stress about it (hopefully). I'm going on holiday in just over 2 weeks and I need to stay on track as I really don't want to gain weight, we shall see!!

MJSpideySenses · 27/05/2025 17:21

Went to see my DSis today, she started her 'diet' a month ahead of me. I know she's on mounjaro, as I'm sure she knows I am but we still haven't told each other. She's lost 3 and a half stone. She started off at over 17st and looks amazing - I'm so proud of her. She's smashing it. She's eating well, exercising frequently and looking great for it.

I'm not eating as well and exercise is sporadic. I should follow her lead!

Hangryfastjo · 27/05/2025 17:28

@Mounjaroday never had it before. The morning continued with a headache and all I really wanted to do was go back to bed for an hour or two, but couldn't I was working 😩

Feeling better now can only think it was my jab somehow, but I took that on saturday morning 🤷‍♀️
