Mounjaro Feb 2025 starters (thread 5!)

Welcome to the latest thread, all WL warriors welcome as always.

Congrats to us all for our achievements and NSVs so far. And props for all the support, encouragement and kindnesses throughout.

Feel we’re breaking the back of this now! Base camp is firmly in our rear view and we’re climbing on … will some start to see the summit in the distance, over the course of this thread? That is pretty darn exciting!

No matter what your pace, and if you’ve lost a microwave, a tin of paint or 192,000 bees: well done!

xx

I'm really starting to feel a difference now.

SW 13st 4
CW - 10st 12

My current target is 10st 7 but when I get there, I will probably lower it to 10 although I would love to get in the 9's. My BMI is down from 34 (not SW on MJ but my heaviest weight of 15st 1) to 24.7 so I feel really chuffed with that.

Jab day today. Have a good week all :)

Zibb · 19/05/2025 13:55

I really want to try going to the gym because I want to try all the strength training machines but it feels too daunting.

I've been trying dumbbell and bodyweight exercises at home but it's so dull and I get distracted and bored. Maybe if I did it at the gym I would be able to stay focused?! The machines look more fun than dumbbells 😂

Marypoppinsisnosaint · 19/05/2025 14:39

I've officially hit the 2 stone loss mark today! It's actually 3 but I'd lost a stone before taking the plunge with mj.

I've gone down roughly 2 sizes in closets and I've lost 2 cup sizes in my bust! Not where I wanted it to go but hey ho!

Another nsv, my husband said to me last night after being together that I felt different. In a good way, he kept squeezing me saying I can get round you more 🤣🤣

@Zibb they are opening a new gym near me just after I get back off my holiday. My plan is to go and have a month or so with a personal trainer until I feel more comfortable and confident in the space and the machines.

Have a wonderful week everyone X

Has anyone had any issues getting hold of anyone at Zava? I've tried to contact them three times and have yet to receive a response.

@sweetpickle2

I was interested in this bit of what you posted

I thought about it and realised I have been on auto pilot the last few weeks, haven't been very mindful about what I'm eating/how many calories, and just letting the pen do the work.

Do others feel this way too?

I absolutely don't lose if I just let the pen do the work - as it is, I lose at a very slow rate. I don't calorie count per se but I am very mindful of what I eat.

It makes me think maybe I actually need a higher dose.

sweetpickle2 · 19/05/2025 15:10

I can't speak for others @Febnewbie but I haven't calorie count for this whole pen (so last 3 weeks), have been eating what I want when I want it (which without thinking is not much, and basically whatever I want eg crisps or pizza when I do) and I've lost 1kg a week on average.

Had I been more mindful about what I've been eating I probably could have lost more, but for me it's more about building better habits for when I taper/come off MJ- so sticking to my calories, making sure I'm getting enough protein and fruit and veg etc.

Edit: to be clear and after reading @Zibb's post, the reason I lose without thinking is because the jab suppresses me so much that I don't eat very much- 2 meals a day max, small portions, no snacking etc. What I'm talking about is being mindful about what that food actually is.

I wish I felt like that. I have to put a lot of hard work in still. I sometimes have days off weighing every gram of food but it's a struggle to keep to a reasonable portion size. I can still eat massive portions and I have to remind myself I don't need to stuff myself to bursting point. I still have battles with cravings and I think about food a lot. Mounjaro does take the edge off and I'm nowhere near as bad as I used to be but I still spent an hour thinking about having a Chinese takeaway last night and then another thinking about chocolate.

I'm still taking 2.5mg as 5mg was so bad for my mental health but now I'm considering just trying it again because I would really love to experience the suppression and lack of food noise others seem to.

Hangryfastjo · 19/05/2025 15:48

Hi All, today i hit the 11stone 13.5lbs. It's 10 years since I was in the 11stone bracket really pleased about that.

I'm reading with interest the eating on auto pilot. I think I shoukd be tracking better what I eat, not to lose more but for me to understand better when I taper off MJ. I don't calorie count etc, probably eat 2 meals a day, with one small snack, but I don't think that's enough for me to follow later on. Maybe I've been too lazy this way and it'll bite me on the backside in maintenance

Yeah, the last 5 weeks, I have eaten mindfully and have lost 1lb in total...

Suggests maybe I should just up the dose.

Slowrunning · 19/05/2025 17:02

I have calorie counted since starting, I stick to 1200 calories per day (or less) and still have weeks where I hardly lose.
If I was not calorie counting I don't think I would lose at all.
For me the jabs make it easier to stay under my calorie limit and resist the cravings. I'm still hungry for every meal (I don't always eat breakfast) and still want to stuff my face with chocolate.
I have gained and lost 3-4 stones several times over the last 20 years but until thia point I have never felt confident that I could get to a low goal weight (I've not actually set a final goal as I want to see how it goes).
I have gone up in strength quite slowly as I do get nauseous and just went from 6mg to 7mg this week.

Hi @aylis- it took them 16 days to respond to me and then it was a very generic not very helpful response. Hopefully you get something more quickly and it is more helpful!

ivegotthekeyivegotthesecret · 19/05/2025 18:47

I've calorie but more importantly for me macro counted since the beginning. For me it's not about the number of calories but portion control and as we've talked about quite a lot, this reminder has been good for me.

I'm eating about 1800-1850 calories a day with about 180g of carbs and a decent portion of protein and fats. My maintenance calories will be around 1900 ish so I'm getting a good idea of how much I should be eating.

I agree with all the comments about mindful eating too!

ivegotthekeyivegotthesecret · 19/05/2025 18:53

Also anyone on Nutracheck have you seen we can cycle between kg/stone/lbs on Progress now? Now I can choose whichever sounds the best. 😁

Febnewbie · 20/05/2025 09:24

I realise I do a lot of whinging on here so I thought I would post something positive -

I bought a dress from a charity shop a few months ago and didn't have time to try it on - it did not fit and I was sad because I really liked it and not quite my usual style so I was disappointed not to wear it

Tried it on again this morning and it looks great and fits perfectly!

Zibb · 20/05/2025 13:09

@Febnewbie Go you!

@Hangryfastjo congrats on getting to the 11s!

My own win - Took measurements yesterday and my waist is now 89cm! Down from 125 in Feb. Ratio is still baaaad but I'm getting there. I did gain 1.5cm on my thighs and lost nothing from calves but I'm telling myself it's muscle from all the walking!

ThatJoyousHazelDuck · 20/05/2025 18:13

Hi everyone, just checking in as it's been a while. I'm nearly 3 weeks since I last had MJ, I've not gained any weight but also haven't lost anything further.

The first week or so I didn't notice any hunger and I thought I was doing ok. However the mindless picking has started again, tonight while cooking, I cut myself a sizeable chunk of cheese, ate some sweets and tortilla crisps. By the time I was serving up dinner, i had probably doubled my calorie intake without realising.

I'm glad I noticed, prior to MJ, I wouldn't have even known i had done it so at least I'm aware now.

Good to hear that you are all still doing well 😀

Zibb · 20/05/2025 20:03

@ThatJoyousHazelDuck well done on not gaining! How are you feeling otherwise? I bet it's nice to be free of the nastier side effects.

DelightfullySoSo · 20/05/2025 21:31

sweetpickle2 · 13/05/2025 09:28

Have woken up with a weird metal taste in my mouth this morning that won't go away even if I drink something... anyone had this?

Yes. It could be ketosis if you're on low carbs and low calories. I find if I eat some carbs and up my cals for a couple of days it goes away.

strongermummy · 20/05/2025 23:42

Evening!
just checking in. Amazing to see how everyone is doing

in my life other people are now starting to notice. Quite funny really.
I haven’t told my DH and he has not passed a single comment about the changes. really annoys me actually. But hey ho!!

goal is in sight now. I now have less to lose than I have lost!!! (Unless I change the GW of course when I get there)

My update from Sunday 18 May 2025
jab 12 W13D1 : 5.42 MJ - ie 5mg +5clicks
SW. 79.7kg (BMI 30 obese)
CW 69kg (BMI 26.6 overweight)
Total loss 10.7kgs (13%)

Weekly average loss 0.6kgs (or just over a 1lbs a week)

GW 60kgs (BMI 23 healthy / total loss 19kgs = 24%!)

I’ve just ordered a new 7.5 pen but not sure I will need it now. Tempted to stay on 5 but let’s see. Would be nice to get to GW before the summer holidays. So long as there are not loads of symptoms.
my main one these days is feeling cold all the time. Which I can just about deal with.

sc0ttishlass · 21/05/2025 06:44

Morning all well done on all the losses!
Week 15 (have passed the 100 day point which is amazing!)
Starting weight 13 stone 5lb
Current weight 10 stone 12lb
This weeks loss minus 3lb (i was 1 off last week so this weeks loss keeps me consistent with 2lb off a week)
Total loss 2 and a half stone, 35lb!!

Observations..lots of people commenting.. feeling slightly awkward lying about how and not sure how I come across but hey ho.

Started another pen 5 today and wish it was 7.5..I've been noticing less suppression amd eating more sweet treats..however, have 1 cake instead of 4 or a handful of chocolates instead of thr bag so maybe it's ok..

Haven't had to buy any new clothes yet as was obviously squeezing into stuff and it not fits or is getting loose..if I buy new jeans I wiukd say they will have to be a 12 whereas mine are all 14 and 16...

Last point. I just did my waist measurement and still too much. I'm aiming for half of my height as per NHS 24..i hope it caches up soon as I know it's one of yhr best indicators of health! I'm 0.6 instead of the optimum of 0.5 x

laundryhamper · 21/05/2025 08:15

I have been off MJ for ten days because of upcoming surgery. V worried about hitting the carbs again and losing all the progress made. Last few days have been managing with black coffee, carrots, fruit and yoghurt and have lost another kilo.

Still nobody has said anything (WL 13kg in 3 months, or 16%).

ThatJoyousHazelDuck · 21/05/2025 08:16

Zibb · 20/05/2025 20:03

@ThatJoyousHazelDuck well done on not gaining! How are you feeling otherwise? I bet it's nice to be free of the nastier side effects.

Feeling fine, not completely back to normal as in not quite back to normal regularity (sorry if TMI).
No weird metallic taste/smell though which i weirdly miss 🤣
Feeling pretty positive, would like to lose a bit more but im happy to sts for now.

Mounjaroday · 21/05/2025 08:42

Hi everyone. Reading this thread is always such a positive way to start the day. Congrats on everyone’s progress and hard work.

I wonder how much we have all lost collectively so far. There’s near-on a 100 of us on this thread; we’ve easily lost an entire car between us!

W17D2
SW 103.9kg / 16.4 stone
CW 83.6kg / 13.2 stone

Going on a short break next weekend - if I can drop anther 1kg this week, I’ll be in the 12 stones! That will feel great and achievable with a bit of focus.

Have gone up to 7.5mg this week, after being on 5mg for 3 months. No side effects so far.

Good luck everyone!

OntheTrainX · 21/05/2025 23:08

I’m definitely going up to 7.5! One more dose of 5, and then up to 7.5 I go.

ivegotthekeyivegotthesecret · 22/05/2025 05:30

End of week 13 and still trekking at 0.7kg ish a week loss on 1800 ish calories. I love eating by macros. It really works for me.

I've revised my end goal slightly up as I think I'll start to look scrawny on my top half if I even go to the bottom of bmi overweight. Need to build some muscle then I can lose a bit more.

One step at a time though!
