Welcome to the latest thread, all WL warriors welcome as always.

Congrats to us all for our achievements and NSVs so far. And props for all the support, encouragement and kindnesses throughout.

Feel we’re breaking the back of this now! Base camp is firmly in our rear view and we’re climbing on … will some start to see the summit in the distance, over the course of this thread? That is pretty darn exciting!

No matter what your pace, and if you’ve lost a microwave, a tin of paint or 192,000 bees: well done!

xx

No Ive been freezing today too. But only inside while I’m not moving. As soon as I was out in the sun it’s much better.

skyscrapersinging · 16/05/2025 18:51

@Dumplers Congratulations! That’s amazing.

aylis · 16/05/2025 19:02

I've got the sensation that I'm plateauing. Today I feel like i haven't taken any medication, I've hopped on the scales a couple of times this week and they've been showing a 2lb gain, and I feel like I stalled a bit the couple of weeks before that. This feeling is exactly when I would ordinarily fall off the wagon. I have been staying within my calories although exercise has been inconsistent due to other commitments and a couple of unexplained events. Just need to keep going.

I also feel like the hot weather is making me feel absolutely massive and uncomfortable. Slight NSV that my feet haven't swollen as much as they usually would but tempered with that that discomfort. Trying to up my water intake.

Zibb · 16/05/2025 19:35

I wish it was hot here! It's 10°c and I am absolutely freezing. Haven't seen the sun in a few days.

The last two times I've tried to lose weight I got down to around 84kg and then given up. Both times I experienced trauma and extreme stress and the urge to binge eat and emotional eat got too much and I couldn't get through it. I'm currently 89kg. I wonder if I'm struggling so much because my body (or my brain?) considers this a set point. I've found it hard on multiple occasions these past few months but this is worse than ever. I just need to get through the next 10kg. That's like 10 weeks. I can get through it. I can do this.

Also, well done to you all on your amazing and very impressive SVs and NSVs!

Hangryfastjo · 16/05/2025 19:42

Hello All, fab reading all your achievements.

I was waiting for three milestones. I reached 2, I've lost 2 stones in 13 weeks, which I am extremely happy about and this has me at BMI 29.8, so second milestone reached. I just need half a pound to get the scales to 11 stone something, which will also be amazing.

Weightloss has slowed but body shape still seems to be changing almost daily, I literally can't believe how little room there is on my backside for my HRT patch and half. It amazes me everyday. Waist seems more nipped in than I've seen it for years, even when I lost 2 years ago, through exercise I didn't get a nipped in waist.

My last pen was my second 5mg pen, but I took 2 x 6.25 and 2 x 7mg doses from it, the 7mg seems to be fab. No side effects, eating 2 x daily healthy meals, fuller quicker, some twinges of hunger. Going to do first 7.5mg tomorrow, only so I use all 5 doses fully, then we'll see where we go.

Still on 5 but jab not due until Sunday.
but I am so COLD 🥶 TODAY!
beautiful sunshine outside. Allegedly 21 inside. Still freezing.

anyone else? Or just me?!

Same! Absolutely freezing all the time

OvertiredandConfused · 17/05/2025 00:10

Really struggling at the moment. I’ve lost over 3st but absolutely nothing has gone from my tummy. Tops that are too big over my bust still won’t fasten over my stomach and I can’t even pull on, let alone fasten, identical trousers just one size smaller.

Yes, I have got the beginnings of a waist again and my hands, face and bust are obviously smaller but it is actually harder to get clothes to fit now than it was at Christmas.

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 17/05/2025 04:21

So pleased this week. I've said before that I'm not particularly bothered by weight loss but am desperate to get my HBA1C (blood sugar) level down. At the point my GP prescribed MJ my test result was 75 (normal is 20-41).

I had another blood test this week, just logged on to see my results and my HBA1C has dropped to 45! So almost down to the "normal" range. I am beyond relieved.

It's been so difficult previously to control my blood sugar. This is like a wonderful drug.

ivegotthekeyivegotthesecret · 17/05/2025 06:47

Congratulations @AnnaQuayInTheUk Great news

This too will pass. Hang in there and keep going. You are doing great.

Have you measured your stomach and waist BTW? Mounjaro works on visceral fat too. It may feel like you haven't lost anything from your stomach but I bet it's smaller than before.

Mum2Fergus · 17/05/2025 08:25

Start weight / BMI: 19st 9lbs / 44.4 (obese class 3)
Current weight / BMI: 17st 3lbs / 38.9 (obese class 2)

Wks 1-4 (2.5mg): -17lbs
Wks 5-8 (2.5mg): -6lbs
Wks 9-12 (2.5mg): -11lbs
Wk13 - 0lb
Total loss: 34lbs

Wk13 weigh in today… zero loss, still 17st 3lbs. Can help but be disappointed given it’s been week of it being able to keep anything down/in (sorry TMI).

Moved up to 5mgs having been on 2.5mgs previous 12 weeks…D1/2 fine, day 3-6 💣💩

Food noise/thoughts have been more prominent than when I was on 2.5mgs but it’s early days I guess.

I’m not noticing a reduction in size physically but clothes sizing is definitely reducing. I don’t think I’ll ever be rid of my below belly button pouch…2 caesarean and an emergency op have left quite a pronounced pouch. 30 odd days until we embark on an AI cruise so a clothing shop is definitely needed but will wait til nearer departure. Then sensible choices for the week away are all down to me!

Goal 1: 10% of starting weight (27.5lbs loss) ✅
Goal 2: 10% of wk11 weight (22.4lbs loss, total 49.9 loss)
End Goal: healthy BMI (between 18.5 and 24.9 for my height)

mumandgran24 · 17/05/2025 08:33

Lost another 2lb this week to take me to a total loss of 30LB.

Need to lose alot more though. About 4 stone ish. But starting to wonder about maintenance.

A few years ago I lost just under what I have lost now but using the 5:2 diet. But then weight loss stalled but I did have about 4 months where I didn't put on weight and it was only when I gave up it crept back on.

So I am thinking get to my target then go back to the intermittant fasting, still be mindful of what food I eat and snackin etc and see if I can maintain post the drug. However not ruling out having to keep going back on it if I have to.

aylis · 17/05/2025 08:38

Jag and weigh-in day, surprised by the loss although it's a bit muted as I don't feel good about or comfortable with myself. I think I'm just wishing I had done this sooner, especially before having to heft around in the sun and heat again.

Week 14 Day 1 (week 2 on 7.5mg)
Starting weight: 16st 5lb
Current weight: 14st 2lb
Loss this week: 3lb
Total loss: 2st 3lb

SansaClegane · 17/05/2025 11:19

Weigh in day for me, and jab day (btw loving all the autocorrects to "jag day", imagine us all driving around in a fancy jag!).

SW 210.4
CW 168.4

So I've finally hit the 3 stone mark!! Even more excited that I'm sooo close to seeing an "11" on the scales again; my target is 11st even, which feels very much achievable now. Like some here, I'm also thinking about maintaining now, and how best to do this?? Lower the dose again? Wean off the MJ?

Had 3 separate people complimenting me this week & asking if I'd lost a lot of weight, so it seems to finally have become visible. That said, I've also ditched my go-to uniform of very loose, baggy clothes, as I'm a bit more confident about showing my body now!

@Mum2Fergus re: the pouch - I'm in the same boat as I've had 3 caesareans. Bad news is even at my thinnest I've had the skin overhang pouch bit (you know what I mean), but overall the stomach does shrink so it's not terribly obvious (unless in a bikini!). So hopefully yours will slim down as well as the weight falls off! Smile

Zibb - you can absolutely do this! We're all here for you & doing it together :)
I'm honestly still in awe at how effective MJ is regarding changing the relationship with food. I think this will help you get past the 84kg mark, as it certainly takes away the "brain" component.

SansaClegane · 17/05/2025 11:54

me again - something else to ask: is anyone else getting massive bruises from the injections?
I try to be as gentle as I can, yet I end up with 50p sized bruising around the injection site which often lasts 3 weeks 😳 any tips on what I can do do avoid this?
seems to be less lasting when I inject on upper arms, although that's fiddly and I prefer jabs in the stomach (much easier to reach). Only that bruises like hell 😓

Jag is another word for injection. I only learned when I started mounjaro that not everyone says it. Not sure if it's just a Scottish thing 🤔

Slowrunning · 17/05/2025 12:21

Weigh in day for me too and after a very static week I had a whoosh the other day and am another 2lb down which I am very happy with.
I’ve upped my dose this week to 7mg (week 17) as I am struggling more with food noise and the urge to snack is very strong at the moment.
Even though I still have about 3 stone to lose I am starting to think about maintenance as I get nearer to a BMI of 30.
I know I will be on this medication for a good while and expect to stay on it for at least 6 months after getting to goal (If not longer).
I have looked at a few providers and really want one that will let me restart if I start to gain weight again after stopping.
I’m looking at Live Well and Pharmulous. If anyone has any opinions on either of them please let me know.

Have you tried ice?
If you cool the area of the site before and immediately after the injection it is meant to reduce bruising.

WLINewbie · 17/05/2025 12:26

Week 14, Day 1

Took 5mg this morning, same as last week. Felt fine the past week but much hungrier than I have been.
Went to reorder from medex and annoyed to see the pen has increased by £10. Not sure how to move provider as I get told I'm not eligible as soon as I put my weight in. Are there any providers who ask you first if you're already on the injection before they ask your weight?
I'd still like to lose about 8lb so I've got a decent buffer for maintenance but I'm pretty happy at my current weight. Kind of accepted that I'll always have the wobbly arms, thighs and belly, just on a smaller scale now.
I'm thinking of dropping to 2.5mg next week and coming off. Not being on MJ terrifies me, I hate the thought of being starving after every meal again, I hate the thought of the sugar cravings coming back and being able to eat masses of chocolate without ever feeling sick/full, the thought of going to bed with hunger pains despite eating more food than a family of four. MJ has made life so much better and easier but I realistically don't want to be on it long term.

SansaClegane · 17/05/2025 12:31

Thank you @Slowrunning , I will try that today!

aylis · 17/05/2025 12:44

I'm in Glasgow and I very rarely hear anyone say jab, always jag.

Re bruises around the injection site, I don't get actual bruises but I get red marks that stay for around 3 weeks. As I alternate thighs and try to move it around it helps me remember where I previously jagged!
