Welcome to the latest thread, all WL warriors welcome as always.

Congrats to us all for our achievements and NSVs so far. And props for all the support, encouragement and kindnesses throughout.

Feel we’re breaking the back of this now! Base camp is firmly in our rear view and we’re climbing on … will some start to see the summit in the distance, over the course of this thread? That is pretty darn exciting!

No matter what your pace, and if you’ve lost a microwave, a tin of paint or 192,000 bees: well done!

xx

Ive now lost 1st 7lbs! SW 17.3, CW 15.10 🤩

sc0ttishlass · 14/05/2025 06:04

Morning everyone, well done to all amd to @skyscrapersinging and @Mounjaroday what a difference in you both! I haven't taken any 'after' pics but may do so today!

Weigh in day today. 1lb off so total loss so far 32lb.
I'm finding the 5mg pen isn't working so well any more or at least at the end of the week. Annoyingly I've got another 5 pen for next one but I'll definitely move up after that. I'm feeling almost back to normal the last 3 days of the week now so for those who ask when it's time to move up, to me that's how I know. That said I'm delighted with the 1lb, and I would happily continue at 1lb a week loss. 1 stone to go till top of healthy weight range..
Also well done on all those who are doing a lot of walking..I think i need to introduce that especially when I wfh and basically barely leave my desk! X

Have you tried any of the Mosley’s Fast 800 recipes?

No, but I've heard good things about them!

ctrlaltdelete1 · 14/05/2025 08:08

I’m scared my MJ journey is going to have to end.

I’m 12 jabs in and have lost 24lbs. So SW 263lb and CW 239lb. I have a very long way to go be near a healthy BMI (around 75lb more) but the last few weeks have brought horrible side effects. Two days after taking I’m getting sulphur burps but then D&V. Last week the D last for days. I delayed my dose by a day to be fully clear of symptoms and also reduced it from 6.25 back to 5mg. But two days later I was up half the night again. Feel like (or more likely hoping) the worst of it may be over me but not confident.

has anyone experienced sudden onset of side effects? And was able to continue because they went away again or is this the end of the road? If I take any this weekend, I might go back down to 2.5mg. Grateful for any advice or experiences.

it has been amazing up until this - food noise-wise but also reducing the symptoms of my autoimmune condition.

I had my 13th jab on Saturday, 5mgs up from starter dose which I’ve been taking since the beginning…day1 was ok, days2/3 were bad 💣💩and continual hiccups/burbs. I’m day 5 now and it’s all easing. On the plus(?) side, zero food noise…to the extent I’ve set a reminder on the phone to prompt me to eat something! I’m going to stick with it for now.

Febnewbie · 14/05/2025 08:51

It's great to see the photos! Really shows the extent to which this works on your middle.

I have lost a stone but 5 inches round my waist - from 38 to 33 inches - can see a similar pattern for those who have posted photos.

I still haven't lost any weight in a month which continues to be disappointing but my loss has been quite random generally so I am sticking with 7.5 for my next month to see how it goes.

I had a weekend away with a friend which was interesting in a couple of ways.

This friend has always been much smaller than me. For the first time I felt like we were similar in terms of when and how much food we wanted. On one day, we had a pastry for breakfast and then didn't eat again till 5 - before MJ, I would definitely have been suggesting we sat down for lunch.

Depressingly though the other thing I noticed is that even though I haven't actually lost that much weight, it seemed to inspire something not so nice in my friend. We went clothes shopping and she made the odd remark "oh I think you'll need that in a bigger size" in a way that I could just yell was intended to cut me down.

Usually my friend is very keen to compliment me - which I suspect now was maybe partly just feeling like she could be generous given how much smaller she is.

It's not going to affect our friendship fundamentally, we will get through it as we have been friends for a really long time. I also don't think it's really totally conscious, I think it's just testament to how entrenched some of this is for women and what society does to us.

They are really, really good!

@Febnewbie you're right. It really reduces people's waists. I did a progress photo this morning. T-shirt tucked in on both to try and show my middle.

I'm on 7.5mg and have ordered the same for my next pen. Losses have slowed right down but I feel ok on this dose.

I've lost 2st so far (with another 4st to go 😏)

Looking brilliant, @MJSpideySenses!

I agree with the waist thing. It’s so encouraging!

I had a realisation yesterday - previously when I’ve lost weight, I would have got to this stage and stopped. I look and feel better. I’ve lost over 2 stone. I’m several sizes smaller. I would be thinking ‘I’m done with this dieting denial bollocks. Life is for living!’ And rewarded myself for my hard work by going back to all my old habits. Dur!

I think this is because when you suffer from obesity, when you are basically trying to fight your body and brain with sheer willpower alone, it’s simply not sustainable. It can’t work long term. MJ gives you that extra power and time to rewire your brain and embed the habits you need.

I think I’ll be on it for life in some form or other. Oprah’s podcast about this really resonated with me. Once you’ve lost the weight, you’re not necessarily done. Just as once your blood pressure has reduced, you don’t stop taking the tablets.

I can only hope MJ becomes more accessible long term.

sweetpickle2 · 14/05/2025 12:15

Wow what a difference @MJSpideySenses well done!

I've realised the biggest benefit for me is that I now know I can open my wardrobe, and anything in there will fit me. For so long just getting dressed has either been stressful/upsetting or just plain boring as I live in the same worn out pair of jeans that fit me. Being able to open my wardobe, put on whatever I want, and know it's going to fit really does remove such a mental load. Also I forgot how much I enjoy putting actual outfits together!

Mounjaroday · 14/05/2025 12:43

OMG @MJSpideySenses!!

OP posts:
Mounjaroday · 14/05/2025 13:02

@sweetpickle2 totally agree. Getting dressed is no longer upsetting or stressful.

Also, shopping is a total dream! Just did a smash and grab in Mango of all places - had 30 mins between meetings in central London. Tried on 10 things, bought 3 and didn’t feel shit about myself once!

@SpiralSister agree with this too. Without MJ I would defo have given up by now and I imagine it being a part of my life for a long time as well. My WL may have slowed but I have absolute confidence that I will keep losing.

Was talking to a family last night who went on and on about willpower. She has been slim and fit all her life, so really has no idea what it’s like being obese, how easy it is to get there, and how monumentally hard it is to lose weight.

“The trouble is, you’ll need to keep it off” is what she told me. Bless. No shit, Sherlock 😅

@Febnewbie good to hear that won’t affect your friendship. You sound very pragmatic and a good friend too.

Well done! It's really interesting the way this seems to make such a huge difference to our waists and hips. Previously when I've lost a bit of weight it always just seemed to come off my arms and legs but my middle section wouldn't change much. I wonder what is different about this. I remember a midwife telling me losing weight off my hips would be the best thing I could do for my health.

hennybeans · 14/05/2025 13:04

I’ve lost 2st4lb, but only 1 inch from my waist. From 44” to 43”, so definitely have lots to lose there. I have lost 3 inches from each thigh though and 3 inches from my hips.

I too, plan on being on mj forever ( or whatever newer medications come along). Just because the medication has treated the symptoms, doesn’t mean the disease is gone when it’s chronic. I’m ok with this. A future of being obese feels far more depressing than medication forever.

sweetpickle2 · 14/05/2025 13:38

I've lost 5 inches off my waist so it's definitely going there for me- I haven't been measuring my hips but they have definitely gone down as well, although I think I'll always have love handles no matter what my size!

laundryhamper · 14/05/2025 14:01

I’ve just stopped taking it for two weeks because I have surgery coming up. It coincides with when I was due for a step up to 10mg. I can already feel my appetite for carbs returning and have put on a kilo in three days.

Housewife2010 · 14/05/2025 14:18

I've just taken my 15th dose. In 14 weeks I've lost exactly 2.5 stones! I love MJ so much. My weight loss has slowed down and I'm desperate to break through to the next stone barrier. Another 3.5 stone to go! I'm staying on 5 mg as I'm very happy with the suppression.

CallIpswichNow · 14/05/2025 15:05

@Febnewbie you make a really good point there, and you sound like a v thoughtful friend yourself for recognising that something complex is likely driving that comment she made.

CallIpswichNow · 14/05/2025 15:07

NSV: out for a walk and super comfy in XXL gym leggings that used to be miserably constricting 🥳

I’ve been doing both, only because I was reading about waist/hip ratio being considered now as probably more important and medically significant than BMI. Despite losing heaps weight, my ratio still isn’t where it should be (under .85). We plod on.

OntheTrainX · 14/05/2025 15:48

@MJSpideySenses Great “after” photo! I see the loss in your calves as well as your abdomen.

HoratioBum · 14/05/2025 17:11

@MJSpideySensesWow look at you go! Great progress, can really see the change all over but around your waist is amazing.

stupidly I didn’t take any photos or measurements when I started in Feb, but even with ‘only’ 1 stone 4 off at the moment I can see the difference in my tummy- I have a bit of an apron but it’s really shrinking. And where I had size 18 elasticated trousers that used to leave marks on my stomach they were that tight, they are now flopping down onto my hips. Happily fitting into 14s and 16s now ( admittedly still elasticated!) so I’m definitely losing from my waist.

Great work everyone!

MJSpideySenses · 14/05/2025 17:29

Thanks everyone. It's a great way to see the difference. Even my arms, I have much more room in the sleeves. Like you @HoratioBum I didn't think my loss would make that much difference when I still have so much to lose.

I wish I had taken measurements too, anything to keep motivated. Though I'm happy enough at the moment.

Side effects question…. Anyone else getting much hair loss? I normally lose a bit of hair when I wash it but have always had quite thick hair and it’s never really made any difference. But last week or two I’ve noticed I’m losing a LOT of hair and I’m beginning to think I’ll go bald before I get to a normal weight at this rate! Do I go back down a dose? Will it stop then? Help

It's normal to lose hair when losing weight, changing your dose won't stop it (unless that means upping your calories a bit and slowing your weight loss). Generally, the more drastic and quick the weight loss is, the more hair you lose. It's called telogen effluvium. Just one of the reasons slower weight loss is recommended.

It is temporary though and your hair will grow back!

Make sure your eating nutrient dense food so you're not deficient in anything. Consider taking supplements maybe?

I have some thinning in my fringe and my temples, same as the last time I tried to lose weight. It did come back, about a year later so I'm assuming it will be the same this time around
