Mounjaro Feb 2025 starters (thread 5!)

Welcome to the latest thread, all WL warriors welcome as always.

Congrats to us all for our achievements and NSVs so far. And props for all the support, encouragement and kindnesses throughout.

Feel we’re breaking the back of this now! Base camp is firmly in our rear view and we’re climbing on … will some start to see the summit in the distance, over the course of this thread? That is pretty darn exciting!

No matter what your pace, and if you’ve lost a microwave, a tin of paint or 192,000 bees: well done!

xx

feeling Worried tonight. 22lb down in 11 weeks (currently on 6.25mg) and the sulphur burps today have been horrendous and now D&V! Not obsessing over food has been life changing and I still have 80lb to go so I’m scared my body is starting to reject it. No major side effects before! Hoping I’m having a blip and this isn’t the end of the road!

For me, side effects happen so randomly and it's impossible to explain what's brought them on. So I've always assumed that's normal for everyone.
Sulphur burps and d&v are very common side effects so I wouldn't think your body is rejecting the mounjaro, just adjusting to it as it builds up in your system.

I hope you start feeling better soon! Pepto bismol really helps with both those symptoms if you can get hold of some.

Zibb · 05/05/2025 23:07

Also, thanks everyone for your kind words about my M&S NSV!
I'm actually still in a bit of shock, tbh. It also reinforced that fear I talked about earlier. Who will I be when I'm smaller? What if at some point I'm actually a size 10? What will life be like when I don't have to check the weight limit on everything?

I was trying on the 14s because that was the biggest size they had in stock of an outfit I really liked and I just figured that I would put them on and take a picture and that would be a new progress picture - I could track myself slimming down in to them over the next few months. But everything fit OK, maybe another 6kg and they will be a perfect fit.

I didn't even buy the clothes in the end because I was a bit freaked out. What if they had the wrong label on? What if the changing room had some sort of body warping power and they wouldn't fit when I got home? What if I don't know how clothes are supposed to fit? Argh!

On a silly note - I also tried on the craziest jeans I've ever seen (I am not a fashion person). Barrel leg jeans! I added a pic (blocked out my weird hobbit feet. You're welcome). Weird but I love them?!

I am now interested in the carrot leg jeans! Gimme all the weird leg jeans!
Maybe I will become a fashion person?

I've also added a before pic - not even my highest weight.

(Apologies for yet another post)

This thread and everyone on it is an absolute life saver for me. It keeps me motivated and on track and if I wasn't part of it I don't think I'd still be going. I would have given up. It means so much to me that I can come here and confess all my weird thoughts and my angst and my worries about this journey.

So thank you to all the Feb 2025 starters!

Mounjaroday · 05/05/2025 23:15

@Zibb look at that waist! You look absolutely amazing! That green is a great colour on you as well.

I keep looking at barrel leg jeans and scratching my head. Maybe I should actually try some on. They look so weird on the hanger!

OP posts:
Zibb · 05/05/2025 23:24

They look weird on a body too! Maybe suited better to someone with very long legs? The crotch was very low on those m&s ones. Not sure if they're meant to be like that!

I think I might actually buy some though... if I can figure out what top and shoes to wear!

SweetPeaGirl · 06/05/2025 08:11

Weigh day! I'm down another 3lbs so 2st 1lb in 10 weeks. I'm really pleased with that.

Also, a friend messaged this week saying he'd started MJ so he was the second real life person who I told I was on it.

On goal weights, my goal is to get my BMI under 35, so class 1 obesity. That will massively reduce various of my risks. Since MJ has started to work and make losing so much easier I've thought that maybe I'll go further, but I think I'll decide later on. Also, needing to lose 5st (well, 3 left now!) is a lot less intimidating than 9st to get to a healthy BMI!

Thanks @Zibb! Have been feeling a bit run down over the past few days so think this was building. Will reduce back to 5mg on next dose. I’ve been very lucky before this.

sweetpickle2 · 06/05/2025 09:43

You look fab @Zibb! I recommend Sainsburys for barrel leg jeans, there was a whole thread on Style & Beauty about them and as a result I ended up buying about five pairs in different colours.

Feeling incredibly nauseous this morning, which does sometimes happen the day after I jab but hasn't for weeks so wonder why it's happening now. Mainlining the peppermint tea and trying to think what I can force myself to eat later!

mefornow · 06/05/2025 10:07

So… I have officially hit my first target… 11 injections in and I have come from 16st 2 down to 12st 13! I am out of the 13 stones, just below my weight when I got married in 2013, lost just over 3 stones and no longer in the obese category!
I'm still struggling to see what the end goal is though! 11stone 0 gets me out of the overweight category and it would be amazing to see my weight start with a 10st but that still feels like an unrealistic goal. I’m still wearing a lot of my same clothes (which maybe says more about how much I was stretching them to squeeze into them before than anything else) and have had quite a few comments now from people noticing I’ve lost weight but I’m not sure where the end goal is… help! Lol

sweetpickle2 · 06/05/2025 10:19

Congratulations @mefornow thats amazing! How tall are you/what would a weight in the 10st take you to BMI wise?

It's interesting you say that about stretching out clothes, I was thinking about that! Whenever i see people on this thread talk about how they don't feel they've lost because they haven't lost many dress sizes etc, I think about how I was squeezing myself into stretched out size 16s even though looking at photos I was clearly about a 20- now the 16s are loose but I haven't 'lost a dress size' yet. It does things to your mind!

I’m 5ft 6 so 11 stone gets me to bmi 24.9 literally just inside normal weight. 10 and a half stone would be bmi 23.7 and 10 stone would be bmi 22.6 but I don’t see that ever happening! I was wearing sizes 16-18 and I think realistically I was at least a size 20 if not higher but too embarrassed to admit it!

SpiralSister · 06/05/2025 11:27

Morning! Just to add to the jeans conversation!

So far I have bought in a 16: patchwork jeans from Seasalt. I loved them, and got them to slim into. Cost a fortune. Now becoming too big. Baggy is a thing, right?! Also from Vinted - wide legs in mid wash, super wearable and useful; cropped wide legs with frayed hem, veering into fashion there; dark denim bootlegs, veering away again.
Have now got size 14 replacements on the way for late summer/autumn. She said confidently 😂

Getting new clothes has been one of the highlights of this whole journey for me.

MynameisJune · 06/05/2025 11:31

Jab day was yesterday, 3lb off but in reality it was 2lb I’d put on the weekend before and then 1lb so 17lb in total for me.

My BMI now sits at 25.7 which is just outside of healthy. My aim is somewhere between 10st7 and 11st at the minute. I’ve been there before and it’s a healthy size for my height. BMI would be 22 so firmly into the healthly range but not too low.

I saw a picture of myself yesterday and it didn’t look any different to what I thought I looked like 38lbs heavier this time last year.

Clothes sizing I can comfortably fit into a size 12 top and bottom. But I’ve just put an old pair of size 16 work trousers on and whilst they’re loose they’re not falling down. I bought them in March last year for a work trip abroad when I weighed 208lb. I don’t remember them being tight but I must have been stretching the waist band.

Hangryfastjo · 06/05/2025 12:38

Oh palazzo jeans from m&s are lovely too. I have 3 pairs! Even suit a short arse like me!
@zibb you look fab, love the colour cardi.

Congrats everyone else on your scale and NSV

Are there are foods people used to love but you can't motivate yourself to eat, even though you (sort of) want to?

Crisps for me. My diet is generally very healthy so crisps were my goto vice. Now I've lost interest in crisps. It almost annoys me because I used to really enjoy eating them.

I found Easter chocolate difficult. Very little interest this year!

It is a remarkable drug in many ways - to be able to magically switch off that desperation for sweet foods and carbs, or the need to finish your plate.

However the side effects are so miserable. I am also worried about the longer term side effects like reduction in bone density and muscle mass.

I haven’t done a lot of research into this but I believe the drug itself doesn’t reduce bone density and muscle mass it’s the potential for rapid weigh loss that will do it.

So even without MJ if you rapidly lost weight you would have the same issues.

Hence why slow, steady weight loss is best.

Yes, exactly this. In addition to slow and steady weight loss, eat lots of protein and do weights/strength/resistance training. I've started doing body pump twice a week and plan to keep it up long term.

Mounjaronewbie25 · 06/05/2025 19:00

Another NSV today, last week in Next I was looking for some new tops. Automatically went to look for a size 20 (at my heaviest I wore a size 24-26) but the biggest size they had was an 18. Bought it anyway without trying on, thinking I’m sure I’ll fit into it eventually. Put it on today and it fits perfectly! DP said it makes me look so much slimmer, much better than the baggy, now-too-big-for-me, size 22 tops I’ve been wearing lol.

Agree with this. Also to avoid saggy skin and give your body and mind time to adjust

@zibb i hear you on the weight restrictions thing, whether my arse would fit in a deck chair/would it collapse on me at 17 stone etc

Those of you who have let your partners / loved ones know you are taking MJ, have you revealed to them what your starting weight was?

No. I am very open with him about MJ journey, side effects, calorie allowance etc but weight and salary are just things you don't disclose to people 🤣 Other than anonymously with other on weight loss journey of course.

His BMI is underweight though, I wonder if I might feel differently if he wasn't. If I reached his weight I think I would be slightly underweight, so I will always be heavier than him, even if I reach a healthy weight.

Yes I have shared my starting weight. This time it was 14stone half lb. But my highest I've been is 15st 9lb and he knows this too. But there is no chance of him remembering 🤣. He's been overweight, but currently maintaining a good weight for him. I'm lighter than him now and intend to stay that way!
He also knows my salary 🤣, it all goes in the same account!

Crikeyalmighty · 07/05/2025 10:43

@Hangryfastjo oh good lord of course- I was bemoaning g the fact I was heavier than him - but in all fairness he has his faults , many of which I’ve spouted about on here ,but always tells me I look great- even when quite clearly somewhat chunky - in all fairness he’s never asked me though, I’m an open book.

Zibb · 07/05/2025 12:11

My husband knows alllll the gory details. My highest weight, my daily weight, my goal weight etc. He's my biggest supporter!

I was very apprehensive about telling him exact figures but it wasn't really because of his reaction, more about how I felt saying it all out loud to someone else. He pointed out that he has eyes and has loved me for the past 20 years at every weight so numbers don't matter to him. He's just a big nerd who loves all the data and now updates the graph of my losses every day haha
