Welcome to the latest thread, all WL warriors welcome as always.

Congrats to us all for our achievements and NSVs so far. And props for all the support, encouragement and kindnesses throughout.

Feel we’re breaking the back of this now! Base camp is firmly in our rear view and we’re climbing on … will some start to see the summit in the distance, over the course of this thread? That is pretty darn exciting!

No matter what your pace, and if you’ve lost a microwave, a tin of paint or 192,000 bees: well done!

xx

Hello All, loving the updates and the posts. @zibb i read your post and it resonates, however i think we have to careful and not judge our previous selves too harshly, by wondering why we were giving up previous diets so easily. MJ i think is in danger of making us forget how very hard previous diets were, we were doing the best we could, with what we had and we never gave up trying 👏🏻 so well done to us all.

Question, is anyone considering maintaining at a BMI outside of a healthy one? I am, but I don't know if that is because I can't see myself getting to a healthy BMI or because I think i'll look better at 26-27.

Honestly not thought about it until your question…my Mum always said everyone has their ‘fighting weight’ - the weight that’s right for them regardless of what the numbers say. Having never found my ‘fighting weight’ I can’t say for sure. If I decide to go ahead with tummy tuck then healthy BMI is a prerequisite…though I’m quite some way away from having to make a decision.

@SansaClegane You look great. Well done! It's hard to know what 3 stone difference looks like.

However seeing your photos made me reflect on the discussion of when we expect people to notice we've lost weight. They genuinely may not have noticed, and that's not a bad thing imo. Of course Sansa looks noticeably slimmer but people can also forget what we look like.

@Hangryfastjo At this stage I'm aiming for a BMI of 26. I don't think BMI is be all and end all, I'm fairly muscularish and I'll be happy at that weight, for now at least.

Zibb · 05/05/2025 12:47

I finally did it, 90.4kg today and under 200lbs. One-derland as they say!

My goal weight takes me to just above BMI 25, which is still classed as overweight. So if I get there, I may reassess a new goal weight. I set it at 70kg mostly because I didn’t believe I would get anywhere near there let alone beyond there.

Interesting question! I was initially aiming for a BMI outside of official healthy levels, but I think that was because I have been overweight for so long I can’t picture myself as a slim person.

And probably a large part of me was alarmed at the realisation I have 5.5 stone to lose to fall into the healthy bracket. But I’m growing in confidence that I can achieve this.

@SansaClegane I know I actually look better at 27 to 28 bmi regardless of what official levels are - what they don’t factor in is build or the fact you naturally have big boobs etc and also age. I think it makes a difference. At 24 or so, my body nay on paper look ok but I go a bit haggy looking at63. You look great by the way - I look about now how you started at ( and am 10lbs down so far)

OntheTrainX · 05/05/2025 12:57

25.5 - 25.8 BMI is my target. That was where I was 22 years ago at age 30/31 when I looked my best ever, was athletic, and wore a UK size 10.

I’m a 5’7” hourglass, wide shoulders, big hands/feet. Fast-ish metabolism, build muscle quickly.

Febnewbie · 05/05/2025 12:59

I sort of have two goals - the one I put on my consultation and have on shotsy is 10st which is a healthy BMI though for my ethnicity it's still overweight.

But in my head, TBH I would be very happy with 11st which is the weight I was in my early 20s and looked good at.

Sadly I am not as confident as the rest of you that I will get there - I have lost absolutely nothing on 7.5 this month (been 3.5 weeks)

I'm not trying to get to healthy bmi. That's another 10kg which won't be healthy for me at all. I don't think BMI is useful really, particularly if you have a higher muscle mass.

My target weight will give me a BMI of 27.8, so still overweight.

It’ll be the slimmest I’ve been my entire adult life since I was about 18, so I don’t care if it’s not a healthy BMI. I am tall so I know that weight looks good on me and thinner than that would look weird (in my opinion). I also know I’d have no hope of maintaining a weight any less than that without jabs, as I’ve never been able to do it my entire adult life!

SansaClegane · 05/05/2025 13:22

@Zibb thank you for your lovely words, and also well done on breaking the "200 barrier"! it's a real milestone, mentally as well I felt.

Regarding the BMI discussion- I'm aiming for just under 25. I've previously been there & think it's a good healthy weight for me; I've also been lower (years ago!!) and frankly I don't think it suited me, I looked quite haggard. It is annoying though that what I feel is my 'best weight' puts me right at the border to overweight & obviously that's what then comes up every time I see the GP etc. (and I do feel it's then used as an excuse to not treat things, like, "you need to lose weight first, it's probably caused by your weight" etc).

Thanks for all the nice comments, yes it's a lucky shape in a way, on the flip side, also much harder to notice when I gain weight as it spreads so evenly! And clearly hard to notice when I lose it too 😂 oh well.

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 05/05/2025 14:33

I started MJ with a BMI of 27.5 (I think) and it's now 24.3. I don't care about my weight or BMI, I am only taking it to lower my HBA1C. I've got a blood test next week so am really hoping it has come down significantly.

MrsHero · 05/05/2025 14:44

@SansaClegane You look great! Amazing loss! I feel the same with not seeing a substantial difference, however if you're anything like me, I bet a picture of your side profile would make the loss far more apparent.

NSV for me today - I have a 'vintage' M&S belt that belonged to my mum, and in Feb I was pretty much on the loosest hole. Tried it today and it was on the second from tightest! Still wearing the same size jeans though... having a baby and then going into premature menopause within a year played havoc with my lower tummy. 😣

OntheTrainX · 05/05/2025 14:46

@SansaClegane the photo is great! You can easily tell that you’ve lost weight from all over.

Hangryfastjo · 05/05/2025 14:49

Some great responses and you're all right, BMI is no longer a particularly good measure of health.
Luckily for me my muscle mass was one of the only measures on my scales that was good from the start 🤣 and I'm not losing any (percentage wise) but because of this I've always weighed heavier than I actually look, so don't want to get into a healthy BMI.
10st 10lb is my aim, (🤣 i think) which would put me at 26.6bmi.

21lb to go....

Zibb · 05/05/2025 15:26

Currently crying in the m&S changing rooms because I'm wearing a size 14 top 😭

Hangryfastjo · 05/05/2025 15:59

@zibb that is fabulous ❤️

Zibb · 05/05/2025 16:15

I went back out and also tried on some size 14 trousers and they did up no problem.

11 weeks ago a 22 was tight and I'm still walking around in size 20s thinking I hadn't changed that much.

Mounjaroday · 05/05/2025 16:29

Crikeyalmighty · 05/05/2025 16:31

@Zibb aw that’s lovely - I’m aiming for getting in a 14 as my mid term, a 12 as goal -don’t really care what the scales say !! At the moment some 18s and some 16s

FunnyCrabDance · 05/05/2025 16:50

@SansaClegane great pictures! You can definitely see the loss from all over you!
@Zibb fantastic to hear about happy crying in a changing room 😊

Bmi wise I'm aiming for the very top end of healthy, for me 11 stone is a bmi of 25.
Finally saw 13 stone on the scales yesterday, which should have made me happy but mood is a bit flat atm.
Size 16 jeans now do up easily on the waist but are still tight on thigh (depending on cut). I'm not loosing as quickly on some parts as Id like.

Hangryfastjo · 05/05/2025 17:25

What is would say when trying on clothes, is try something that you like but don't think woukd be flattering. I tried a dress on in next and I was literally gobsmacked at how lovely it looked on, so flattering (it was one of those Jersey top/poplin type skirt). I thought the skirt part would stick out and look awful and I loved it and bought it!
Also bought some carrot shape jeans from m&s in cream! They looked so nice and such a lovely shape on.

GoodCharl · 05/05/2025 18:21

@Zibb fabulous, well done you! I bet you are absolutely buzzing x

i tried on a few dresses in my wardrobe which ive not worn in a while as they were tight/never worn and still have tags. Well they fit with room to spare. So pleased!

with this warmer weather recently, anyone else finding they are avoiding summer clothes as they are always bloody freezing and need layers? I tried to wear a tshirt and jeans, was frozen. Had to put a vest under and eventually popped a hoodie on! 🥶

WoolerOwl · 05/05/2025 19:33

I have those cream M&S carrot shape jeans too, and they look lovely. Especially with a dark coloured top.

Yes, I am freezing too. Made the mistake of going to an outdoor work event yesterday dressed as if for the day before, when the weather had been really warm, and realized that it was a more normal May temperature. Ended up shaking with cold! I have my thermal vest back on today.
