Welcome to the latest thread, all WL warriors welcome as always.

Congrats to us all for our achievements and NSVs so far. And props for all the support, encouragement and kindnesses throughout.

Feel we’re breaking the back of this now! Base camp is firmly in our rear view and we’re climbing on … will some start to see the summit in the distance, over the course of this thread? That is pretty darn exciting!

No matter what your pace, and if you’ve lost a microwave, a tin of paint or 192,000 bees: well done!

xx

Funnily enough it’s my DP taking mounjaro rather than me (although I’m in overweight category but BMI around 25 ish so not eligible). My son and I are the only ones who know, he hasn’t told anyone else, even his own sons. His sister and niece are both taking it too and very open about it. I suggested he tell her for a bit more moral support and ear to bend but he was very much against it.

Mounjaroday · 07/05/2025 14:19

That’s interesting.

My husband would always say “darling you’re not fat”, so he was genuinely taken aback when I disclosed that my SW was 5kg heavier than he weighs.

What has been interesting is reactions from friends. Most have been enormously excited/supportive but it is clear that some people found validation in themselves by me being the ‘fat one’ in the group, and can’t get their head around the new dynamic. One friend was openly dismayed to hear that my target weight would bring me in to the same slender weight as her, and has now announced she is on a diet. Another has totally backed away from our relationship to the point of ghosting.

I don’t take any of that personally as I know that’s not about me, but I do find it really interesting how we react to conversations about weight and compare ourselves to others. We can be so critical of our bodies, no matter what size we are.

@Mounjarodayso many women are hugely competitive , particularly with looks, in a totally different way to men who often tend to be more career and cash competitive .

MynameisJune · 07/05/2025 17:26

Yes DH knows all about my MJ journey, he is the one funding it. After 24 years together he has seen me as a slim teen and all the way through pregnancies etc. He is totally supportive.

I haven’t told any friends or anything, and as my weight loss has been fairly slow I don’t think it’s hugely obvious that I’m using MJ.

Mum2Fergus · 07/05/2025 19:23

CW 17st 6lbs…just booked a cruise leaving 6 weeks on Saturday - is another stone off totally aspirational?! I think just getting into the 16st range will be enough!

Mounjaroday · 07/05/2025 19:38

Ooh a holiday how exciting!

A kilo a week for 6 weeks? Doable for sure with a proper deficit and exercise (and lots of water!) but everyone is different. How have the past 6 weeks gone? That’s probably a fair indication of where you’ll be in another 6 x

@Mum2Fergus I’m hoping for 6 kilos in 7 weeks !!

Here’s a question. What bonkers things have you attempted before to lose weight.

I remember 20 years ago - back when people
smoked - I would replace snacking with smoking for a week or two, in order to reduce my calorie intake. How absolutely ridiculous and stupid does that sound?

Embarrassed to even fess up to that but I know this is a safe space!

Anyone else?

Ah. I remember that. Those were the days…..
also the black coffee, boiled eggs and a glass of wine plan.

and the F plan - basically loads of sex and no food!!!!!!

Those of you who have let your partners / loved ones know you are taking MJ, have you revealed to them what your starting weight was?

He doesn’t know. And does not seem to have noticed the weight loss. Even tho I have lost 3 newborns!!!!
he seemed surprised when someone else mentioned it.

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 08/05/2025 03:16

@strongermummy I think you've mistyped one of your numbers!

I remember the wine and toast diet I didn’t exactly choose to be on, it’s all I could manage when splitting up from my first husband. Went to under 10 stone, which at my height and build, was not good. Not to mention unsustainable 😂

Also did the Cambridge diet. Truly, truly vile. Slim fast - ultraprocessedtastic!

I wonder what damage we did to ourselves (obesity and set point wise) with these mad carry ons?

HoratioBum · 08/05/2025 08:22

Jag day today

going into week 12 so nearly 3 months in.

lost almost 2 lb this week after a week gaining and losing the same pound last week. I seem to have a drop immediately after a weekend, which is always odd as I normally exceed my calories slightly at weekends due to wine and eating out. So my total loss is now 1 stone 4.

I'm not going to claim to try and know how or why that happens, but I’ve noticed it for a few weeks now.

NSVs this week - went shopping at the weekend for some holiday bits ( I go away on the 1st June) and bought a couple of tops in a 16 (whereas before I would have bought a 20) thinking oh but I’ll slim into them eventually- and they only bloody fit! Also a pair of (admittedly stretchy) trousers in a 14!

My face is noticeably a lot less puffy as well, which is nice.

sc0ttishlass · 08/05/2025 08:23

Weigh in and jab day, week 13 , minus 1lb.
Total loss 31lb

Confession, on tuesday I ate a large back of minstrels, and felt totally fine after. It really made me worried for future. First time I've done anyhing like this in 13 weeks. The old me woukd have had several other things in the day too so fact it waa only 1 thing is 'better but still.

@Mounjaroday tried everything. Most recently exante shakes. They were awful, I was miserable and clearly didn't work. Slimming world /weight watchers/ smoothies/ carol vordermans fast/a 5 day bootcamp tried it all and spent a fortune. My friends amd I joked the only thing left to try was going to jail and being locked up!

sc0ttishlass · 08/05/2025 08:42

Oh another nsv, I help litter pick in our village, previously couldn't get the high viz vest to do up! Now I can 😀

sweetpickle2 · 08/05/2025 09:44

Love that @sc0ttishlass !

A similar NSV for me- currently staying in a budget chain hotel for work, the type that gives you a bath towel the size of a postage stamp (I'm sure bigger ladies will relate to the gap when you try and put it around you!) Well now... no gap!

aylis · 08/05/2025 10:35

A very random NSV - my daughter said something crazy yesterday and I put my face in my hands - and could properly feel my cheekbones. Now I keep feeling them 😆

Mounjaronewbie25 · 08/05/2025 15:39

@aylis 😂 similar I keep marvelling that I can feel the top of my pelvis bone through my tummy.

GoodCharl · 08/05/2025 16:27

My NSVs

being able to do my coat up with room to spare
able to bend down/over no problem
when its a hot day my feet havent bloated
i can get my once tight jeans down without unbuttoning!

🤩

ivegotthekeyivegotthesecret · 08/05/2025 16:50

After a shower I have started to check how visible my collarbone is. Target is for it to be visible without having to angle or be under a light. 😁

Mounjaroday · 08/05/2025 17:01

Feeling very impatient today.

1lb-2lb a week I know is a steady loss but FGS this is all taking so flipping long.

Also, have had a crap day at work and a row with my husband over something very stupid. In the olden days, I would be reaching for a very large glass of wine, probably in an hour or so. I won’t lie I am very tempted to do that tonight!
