New thread for those who started in January 25. 3 months in and we're still going strong 💪

Thanks for the recommendation @MananaPenelope - looked it up on MFP and oat milk has more cals than semi skimmed! I might just move to skimmed, and then to almond. It's the thickness I would miss iyswim?

We have gardening to do today - just bought a raft of plants from the garden centre which needs homes finding for them. We did our garden last Summer, so we have some new flower beds to create. I seem to have developed hay fever for the first time in my life though. Very odd.

Good news on more losses. I'm hoping for 1lb this week. No loss last week. I seem to have no loss, small loss, bigger loss so it averages at about 1lb per week at the moment. That means I hit target by end May...

Polkadotdash · 26/04/2025 13:58

Big family party is today. My target was to get under 13 stone. I’ve eaten nothing but salad and omelettes all week. I’ve put on a pound. 13 st 4lbs today 😫

How is that even possible???

MananaPenelope · 26/04/2025 14:25

You're right @Thelittlestranger , I am lucky that I don't like much milk. DCs love the Moma Barista but they're both 5"11+ and need about a million more calories a day than I do.

HeavyHeidi · 26/04/2025 14:39

My pre-teen DS weighs about 40 kilos and is thin as a rake. He had breakfast, then he had a decent filling lunch, I dropped him to town to hang with his friends. He's now having a burger with them, as apparently he was starving, starving I tell you.

DareDevil223 · 26/04/2025 14:44

@Thelittlestranger I use the Arla BoB (Best of Both) milk. It has the taste and texture of semi-skimmed but closer to the calories of skimmed. It 's really nice and no one ever notices that it's essentially skimmed because it doesn't have that horrible thin wateriness.

I was going to weigh this morning but lovely DP brought me a cup of tea in bed so I'll do it tomorrow. Have a slight case of the sulphur burps for the first time on MJ and really not hungry even after a very energetic 45 minute spin class Smile

2025istheyeari · 26/04/2025 16:33

Happy Saturday losers!!

Well done on the losses, nsvs and I’m so glad you’re feeling better @MananaPenelope.
@Jins enjoy what sounds like a fab weekend away, and every one else enjoy your plans, well done for navigating dinner at friends too!

So exciting that we have a wedding in the thread too, congratulations!!!

I went to see Wicked last night at the theatre, it was amazing! Went to Wagas but checked
calories in advance and really enjoyed my Thai beef salad! I’ve been wild swimming in a lake for the first time today and absolutely loved it! Helped that they had a sauna there to warm me up, then lovely pea, watercress and leek soup for lunch. Going to our local bar in a bit as it’s closing 😭but coffee for me!!!

on the milk front, I have to have caffeine, drink loads of tea but have been on skimmed milk for years .Agree that BOB is great and not many more calories.

enjoy the rest of your weekends everyone and may the scales go down!!

2025istheyeari · 26/04/2025 16:52

Oh and I can’t remember who recommended the M&S air fried Serrano crisps but omg, thank you, they’re amazing!

DGonMJ · 26/04/2025 18:00

I forgot to have lunch today! Having a chicken sandwich now. Craving something low fat after last night’s cake.

@Polkadotdash very unfair to have gained after salads! What dose are you on and are you planning to move up?

@asparagusfearne amazing that you found your dress in a size down. A stone over 3 months sounds achievable - that’s about 1lb a week which is a healthy rate.

@Randomusernameforcode congrats on the 2 stone milestone 🏅 🏅

MananaPenelope · 26/04/2025 18:26

Thanks @2025istheyeari , it looks like 2.5mg is the dose for me, fingers crossed I continue to lose on it. I might try injecting on day five to see if that works for me.

@HeavyHeidi , my young adults cost a flipping fortune to feed. 19 year old has had breakfast, lunch and 3pm pasta. We are about to have dinner. She is 5’11.5 (don’t forget the .5 Mum 🫡), weighs somewhere just over 70kg I believe, strong, athletic and never stops eating. The other one eats even more, one day they will leave home and my food budget will be minuscule.

discov · 26/04/2025 18:57

@2025istheyeari me and dd went to see wicked last year and it was fantastic! I didn’t know what to expect as I’d never been to the theatre before but I loved it so much. I always find Wagamamas a good choice for tasty but nutritious/lower cal meals. Great option!

also would recommend the M&S baked cheese cloud crisp things. They are so nice!

MJalltheway · 26/04/2025 19:53

Been feeling a bit rubbish this afternoon, like I've hit a brick wall and have totally run out of energy. 😣 my B12 is nearly due so that doesn't help.
Havent been at all hungry and felt a bit nauseous. Off for an early night shortly to see if that sorts me out.

DareDevil223 · 27/04/2025 07:56

10mg is definitely going to be too strong a dose for maintenance, it seriously suppresses my appetite and I've felt a little bit sicky, not much, just more than I'm used to.

On the plus side, I lost 1.4lbs this week which is a huge amount for me at this late stage in the game!

I'm now 10st 12.4, BMI 23.9 and have 5.6lbs to goal. 11st has always been a difficult barrier for me to break and I haven't been 10 stone something since my early 20s. Sometimes when I look in the mirror or I'm easily doing up some size 10 jeans I think that it must be a dream and it can't really be me.

All the pain of failure and years and years of food obsession, hating myself etc. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Sod the naysayers, it's been a literal miracle for me.

HeavyHeidi · 27/04/2025 08:04

So happy for you, @DareDevil223 and yes I agree, it's a bloody miracle.
Next time I hear someone badmouthing GLP, I will ask if they also judge me for taking thyroxine instead of just trying harder to make my own hormone.

MJalltheway · 27/04/2025 09:23

It's so amazing to think of being so close to a seemingly-unacheivable goal @DareDevil223! Although MJ helps immeasurably, it's still the work you've put in that has got you there. 🥇

feeling a lot better this morning after having a good nights sleep and giving myself a b12 injection and given how recently it feels that I was hoping to break into the 80s, I'm now on 87.6kg! More importantly, my metabolic age on the scales is steadily decreasing, I'm down to 68 now (still miles over my actual age of 51!).
MIL is taking us all out for Sunday lunch today which will be lovely. I've definitely struggled more with finishing meals over the last 2 weeks on 7.5mg so will have to order carefully.

MissPobjoysPonies · 27/04/2025 09:32

I’m still on 5mg and think it’s time to go up - have been maintaining rather than losing.

what side effects did anyone have with the jump? I have some deadlines coming up and really don’t want to feel crappy as could impact my career. Thinking of 7.5mg pen but using 5mg for the first week?

DGonMJ · 27/04/2025 09:33

Jab number 17 today - 7th 5mg dose.

SW 79.6kg
CW 63.7kg (loss of 0.6kg this week)
GW 62.4kg

15.9kg lost - which is 20% of my initial body weight. BMI is 23.4, looking to get just under 23 for ‘healthy’.

My PT thinks I should change my routine now I’m near goal and want to build muscle. He’s suggested 2 x cardio, 1 x yoga, 2 x strength.
I currently only have 1 rest day a week but he thinks I should have another in order for my muscles to repair. I do love the endorphins I get from cardio and it does help to set me up for work. Weird to be arguing with myself over doing ‘less’ exercise.

Thelittlestranger · 27/04/2025 09:36

I used 5.6 from my bonus dose in my last pen, and then had one week from my new 5mg pen on 5.6. I then made the jump to 6.5 last week and it worked well for me. Will remain on 6.5 for two more weeks and then will determine what I do with my new 7.5mg pen.

Thelittlestranger · 27/04/2025 09:39

@DGonMJ interesting what your PT has said - is 2 x cardio reducing what you previously did? I have started doing one short run per week but mainly do weights and yoga on my other 2-3 sessions per week.

I'm very tempted to go back to my PT to start lifting heavy again.

Yes it’s one less cardio - I currently do 3 x cardio, 3 x strength - with one of those being with the PT in the gym so I lift heavier than I can with my dumbbells at home.
He’s been trying to get me to swap a cardio for yoga for a while now! All my cardio is on the peloton bike and he’s not a fan of the hunched form it forces you into. But now I’m close to goal and we’re testing out my 1 rep max we’ve noticed I’ve lost strength.

I jumped straight from 5 to 7.5 and didn't have any side effects for the first couple of weeks. Now it's built up more I'm definitely struggling more to finish meals but other than that and occasional slight constipation not really had any side effects. I'm staying on 7.5, have done 5 doses now and losing quite a bit each week so definitely don't want to move up.

discov · 27/04/2025 10:19

@DareDevil223that is brilliant, a huge congrats! Your last paragraph resonates with me, and I’m sure many others here. It’s been a miracle for me too. I’ve never been able to do this on my own, despite years and years of trying.

@MissPobjoysPoniesI moved up to 7.5 a few weeks ago and had no ill effects at all. I was expecting to not feel good for some reason. I don’t know why! I feel like 7.5 sounds like a big number compared to 5 😂 So I was surprised!! I have felt better on 7.5 than any other dose so far. I did my extra dose from my 5mg pen which ended up just over 6mg which was a good bridge between both doses.

I have had the same experience. I found week 3 a bit rough but I know that’s usually the highest level of build up, plus I hadn’t eaten well that week which I think played a massive part. It wasn’t awful, just low level nausea really. I’ve been more strict with what I’m eating this week and feel back to normal.

I’ve got another 7.5mg pen again too and have felt confident staying on this dose as it’s working so well for me. It’s the first time I’ve stayed on the same dose for 2 pens and it was a very easy decision to make.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 27/04/2025 10:50

I also moved straight from 5 to 7.5 without any side effects. I’m on my second 7.5 pen now and have just ordered a third, it seems to be the right dose for me, good appetite suppression, no side effects and good weight loss each week.

Just checking in quickly as was very busy yesterday. Loving all the positive vibes coming through!
I saw someone on Friday who I’ve known for more than quarter of a century (makes a girl think! Bonus movie points for getting that reference 😜) and so has seen me through thick & thin (ok mostly thick 😂). He made the ‘you look well’ comment, ie. you’ve lost weight, and I said it was because I’d finally resorted to the jabs and as far as I was concerned they were a bloody miracle! I’ve decided I’m going to be honest about them if anyone bothers to notice my weight loss as they are a ‘bloody miracle’ as far as my body is concerned. I’m not using and abusing them and I definitely need them. So it’s not my problem if anyone else thinks I’m cheating. They can go f* themselves! 😂
Stats for yesterday, week 18, day 0, 7.5mg:
SW: 15.13.0
CW: 12.10.6
Loss this week 1lb

After last week’s mishap, happy to report that pen worked fine, although may have been a little over zealous in priming it, and managed to squirt a whole bunch over the bathroom mirror! 😂

Happy weekend you lovely losers 😘

yomellamoHelly · 27/04/2025 14:01

Hello all! Just checking in as I've just done 15th dose. Down 1 1/2 stone in total and now have a BMI of 27.3.
Find it quite comforting that several of you are talking about being in this for the long haul, as I think that's going to be me too. Won't even be considering maintenance to next Christmas time I think.
A friend of mine did MJ and the weight just fell off her even with 2.5 mg doses, so she only needed it for 3 months. I can only wonder if it's because I've been this way (and slowly increasing) for the last 17 years. - Last time I was a healthy weight was before I got pg with youngest. - Anyway, I'm going up to 10mg next time, in the hope it keeps the slow and steady momentum going.
Clothes wise, nothing's changed. Everything fits better, but I'm definitely still a 16, and some of my 16s still feel quite tight, so don't think a size drop is on the horizon.
Dh found an article talking about the link between obesity and alzheimers. It runs in my family, and my family members were all overweight. So I choose to believe that I'm doing something proactive to help myself in the future. Generally though I continue to feel really sharp / clear headed. Love it.
