Hi,
I lied to get mounjaro as I do have some weight to lose. Took my first dose on Thursday. Today I haven’t been able to leave my bed. Severe diorrhea, tummy cramps, had a rash on my forearms and I’ve got horrid burps. I’ve been on the loo all day. When will this end. I feel horrific. When will it end?

None of us know your medical history or why it’s affecting you like this. You need to contact the NHS and fess up.

Allmarbleslost · 05/04/2025 19:10

Take buscopan and Imodium. Pepto bismol or peppermint oil capsules for the burps. What have you eaten the last couple of days? It's probably caused by something you ate

Eminybob · 05/04/2025 19:12

I would contact a doctor and then consider why on earth you thought that taking medicine you had to LIE to obtain was a good idea.

Thanks for posting though, hopefully this is a warning to anyone else considering doing the same.

Seriously? you lied? does that mean you were far off bmi of 30? Or you have a health condition? Contact your provider. Theres a reason why they prescribe it to a bmi of over 30 and thats because the benefits outweighs the risks in clinically obese people. Those side effects can be related by food type such as greasy oily or fatty food, heavy carbs like pasta, hard to digest meat like steak/ red meat and alcohol. It could also be because of other health conditions you have. Drink plenty of water asap 2-3 litres a day as stated in the patient info sheet and read it thoroughly. I've never had side effects in 6 months but I wouldn't inject something in my body that is not suitable for me.
Please do not take anymore of it or you could risk damage to your organs, it will be half the level after 5 days and will fully leave your system after 30 days.

susiedaisy1912 · 05/04/2025 19:15

What did you lie about? Your weight or an existing medical condition ?

Lolly2803 · 05/04/2025 19:21

I lied about my weight. I totally regret it. I feel horrific. I hope people read this and don’t take it (unless prescribed). I get it’s totally my fault, I feel awful. I just want these symptoms to pass. I’ll never take any of it ever again.

Was it from a reliable source?

Were you far off obese or even overweight? Seriously drink lots of water and eat little and often to keep your strength. Take electrolytes or energy tablets to get your minerals back in that you're losing and take vitamins. Stick to bland food for now plain chicken, veg, rice, toast. What dose did you get? 2.5mg? Mounjaro?

Lolly2803 · 05/04/2025 19:31

Yes 2.5. I am overweight but not enough to get it. I can’t eat and even water seems to be coming out. I’ve been on the loo all day so I don’t even know what’s still coming out. It’s literally just water. I feel awful. So so awful. I got it from med express

What was your BMI when you started? The drugs are designed for people with a certain percentage of excess body weight. I'm not surprised it hit you like a truck. It's designed for someone with more body fat to dispurse into.

SquashPenguin · 05/04/2025 19:34

Should be out of your system after 7 days.

doodleschnoodle · 05/04/2025 19:47

Take some immodium.

Blodwyn831 · 05/04/2025 19:48

This sounds horrific OP. Really hope you feel better soon. I don't blame you for succumbing to the social media hype and trying it tbh - the stories are everywhere and it's feels like every celebrity and their mum are on it. I'm still deciding whether to risk trying it or not. I was completely honest about my stats when I applied for it and my additional health conditions and they have said yes but my BMI is only 27 so now I'm scared of debilitating side effects.

BlackSheepThisYear · 05/04/2025 19:51

How did you get it from MedExpress without a photo of you and the scales? I’m certain they asked me for that for my first prescription. Hope you feel better soon

At least it was a reputable source. Take rehydration sachets, sip on water. Try to avoid anything fatty or high carb and don't have any alcohol. You've reacted so easily to a starter dose which is surprising but at least you have no known health conditions so fingers crossed it will leave your system soon. Some people do get ill from it. Keep on with the water.

stopthatrightnow · 05/04/2025 19:58

When you mention in your original post that you “do have some weight to lose,” could you clarify what you mean by that? Are you referring to having a BMI of eg 29.5 (which is considered overweight, but not typically enough to qualify for Mounjaro), or did you just decide you want to lose a few pounds to fit back into your size 10 clothes? The latter situation is what’s making it difficult for people who genuinely need it to get access. It’s also concerning because you might end up in A&E, which really frustrates me. By lying to get a drug you don’t qualify for, you’re not only putting yourself at risk of unpleasant side effects, but you’re also taking up A&E resources to fix the issues that arise. This kind of behavior is what gives the drug a bad reputation, and I’m really tired of seeing it over and over, yours being one of the more extreme examples of stupidity and vanity that cause situations like this.

She's feeling like shit and regrets taking it. Give her a break

stopthatrightnow · 05/04/2025 20:06

This wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment decision. The OP deliberately lied to obtain the drug, then waited a few days or even a week for it to arrive. She administered it knowing full well the information provided when she signed up, as well as the details included in the box. She had ample time to research online and reconsider her choice, yet chose to proceed anyway. People like her are preventing genuine patients from accessing the drug and are also potentially using up A&E resources that could be better allocated to those who truly need them.

Pyjamatimenow · 05/04/2025 20:16

what dosage did you get? If it’s only 2.5 it should be over soon. Just take immodium and rehydration sachets and it’ll pass in a few days. What sort of bmi are you?

Twiglets1 · 05/04/2025 20:16

@Lolly2803 you've only taken one dose so it won't be in your system for long.

You will feel better soon I expect. I was ill on it too but it didn't last long.

InfoSecInTheCity · 05/04/2025 20:50

What did you eat yesterday before taking the jab? Some people really react badly if they’ve had greasy, high fat food because Mounjaro slows down your digestion. The fact that you also have a rash is worrying though. I think it may be best for you to call 111 and get some advice as that could be indicative of an allergic reaction.

ILoveMJ · 06/04/2025 05:05

I'm sorry you're feeling awful.OP :(

I inflated my weight a bit on the online forms to get mj. Plenty of people have done so, and plenty more will continue to do so, so don't beat yourself up too much! Sharon Osbourne and multiple other celebs have taken GLP1s when they were clearly not obese. You r not alone.

I doubt very much that your BMI has anything to do with your reaction.

I took mj with a BMI just under 27 and I've been absolutely fine. A bit tired but that's all. I've had no nausea or diarrhea or anything. I've lost 3 stone and very happy with the experience of taking mj.

I wonder if you r having an allergic reaction.

Go to the GP. They will.understamd.

I know people can be very critical when people are not honest in order to obtain a prescription, but thankfully I expect GPs will understand. They know how much weight effects us and that when people r desperate to loose weight they will b tempted to try glp1's. I don't regret taking it. It's changed my life. You weren't to know what reaction your own body would have.

Good luck. Hope you feel better soon.

🙄 leave her alone..she's feeling like crap and seeking advice.

Weight is a complex issue. People only take a GLP1 if they cannot think of another solution and their weight is really bothering them. Just try a little empathy rather than judgement.

I know all these things and I feel awful. I think my bmi is 27. But you’re right it was vain, selfish and stupid and when feeling low I was sucked into all the hype of everyone taking it. But oh how I regret it. I’m trying with the water but it’s at the stage where can rinse my mouth out with water to get some moisture but not swallow. I’ve had constant diorrhea for 24 hours. I don’t know how much more there is. It’s just water!
I feel awful both physically and mentally. I was just looking for advice and to give a bit of warning to others that’s all. But the negative comments are deserved. 😓
