I don't understand weight loss injections. I have questions

Google tells me that people loose 10% of their body weight over a year. so if you started at 100kg, you would be 90kg after a whole year!! that is not good weight loss at all. definitely not worth, what it costs

but people loose significantly more than that, don't they?? certainly people on social media have definitely lost more than 10% and in a shorter space of time

2nd question from a place of considering trying it because I have mobility issues and it would really be beneficial to not be over weight. but, I don't particularly eat loads and loads. I have a sweet tooth and I emotionally eat, I'm not eating because I am hungry. so am I correct in thinking that it probably wouldn't help me much?

Mounjaro is newer and acts in two ways versus Ozempic’s one so you lose more.

go for it! And update us

Can I ask about loose skin after weight loss? Has that been an issue for anyone? Thanks.

mounjaro or wegovy? I'm gonna do it!

Mounjaro! No experience with Wegovy but Mounjaro has been very effective.

It’s no more of an issue compared to any other significant weight loss method.

Yes, I have a little on my thighs and around my belly button, but it’s barely noticeable in shorts and to be expected after 6.5st of weight loss. I may look at building some muscles/toning to help plus some profhilo injections as they are quite good for firming skin.

Just wondered I think I have decided to give MJ a go after a lot of reading up. I have an appointment on Tues with local pharmacy. Could anyone advise did anyone have a bit of a Diet Coke addition and if so did you give it up. Not sure wether to try and wean myself of a bit over next few days.
Also I have ordered some collegen tablets, some peppermint capsules, vitamins and pep bismol to try ease / in case of symptoms.
Any else that would be helpful

I have a deep seated and profound Pepsi Max addiction.

Nothing has changed on that front…

InfoSecInTheCity · 22/03/2025 17:19

I have loose skin on top of my inner thighs, bingo wings and belly not gonna lie. But I’ve been overweight/obese/morbidly obese for 30 years. I’m hoping over time there will be some small improvement and I’m doing exercise to try to build up my muscles so it has a better base to sit on. It’s easily covered with clothes.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 22/03/2025 17:27

@cinders222 mine wasn’t ’a bit’ of a Diet Coke addiction. It was a MASSIVE one! I had some the other day and realised it was the first one in about 4 months!!!

It helps to do it very slowly. Very fast weight loss will not help.

@TheChosenTwo

The underwear shots made me laugh 😂

GnomeDePlume · 22/03/2025 18:33

Most of my really obvious weightloss (40 pounds so far) has been around my feet, face and bum. The negatives:

  • my previously comfy slippers (stretched to fit my spherical feet) are now a bit loose and flappy.
  • my menopausal neck hair is closer together.
  • my office chair now needs a cushion as my bum isn't bringing its own padding.

I am slightly worried that I will get down to a healthy weight (only another 120 pounds to go) and end up with a hairy, turkey neck, skeletal feet and bum but still the same barrel shape I am now.

OMG @GnomeDePlumethe bony arse problem is so real! I’m a quick shower person but decided to have a bath the other day and I could not get comfortable at all, it was like all the bones in my backside were scraping against the bath, it was so painful. I’ve started doing squats in the hopes that building some muscle will give me back a bit of a cushion.

soupyspoon · 22/03/2025 19:19

Ive lost the fat pads on the soles of my feet too.

GameOfJones · 22/03/2025 19:24

@cinders222 psyllium husk supplements can be useful for extra fibre as constipation is a common side effect since Mounjaro slows your digestion.

Longsummerdays25 · 22/03/2025 20:33

And chicken legs! 🐓

I was just about to order, but....it is £140 for first 4 weeks at 2.5mg....is it double that price when you increase to 5mg?? then triple and quadruple at 7.5mg and 10mg??

No it’s usually the same-ish (unless you have an intro offer) for 5mg; and then goes up by £50ish when you go to 7.5mg/10mg. My Ds, though, was totally happy on 5mg for 3month and then 7.5mg for 3months. In 6-7m he has lost 4st. Only increase the dose if you start to feel hungry on day 6ish, otherwise maintain. I stepped up too quickly and you shoot yourself in the foot (and slow down weight loss) if you increase every month.

Zempy · 22/03/2025 21:15

No, the higher dose pens are sometimes same price, sometimes about £20 more.

I saved money - I eat so little, no longer drink wine, can’t manage or face a takeaway and have almost nothing when we go out for dinner unless I am on day 7/8 and then I can fit in a small portion of something. So I feel it is definitely a net saving. Not to mention the health benefits. I am wearing size 8 clothes now for the first time since I was sixteen. And I feel comfortable and confident in my own skin. It’s priceless to me.

Forgot that bit as I am now so used to the fact I eat and drink less - but yes, you save more than £140pcm on the food and drink and snacks you no longer eat! It’s a break even… until you have to buy those smaller clothes! They cost a bit…

Whateverfloatsyourgoat · 22/03/2025 21:28

I’m up to paying about £180 for 12.5mg but I swap about each month. If you stay with the same provider it would be about £240
